Shitty Christmas Movies

Name your worst. TV movies included.

I remember finding Tori Spelling's A Carol Christmas to be ridiculously idiotic.

Couldn't finish 12 Men of Christmas.

Xmas with the Cranks

Jingle All the Way

When I was a kid, there was a Christmas cartoon with a Santa Claus with a beard but no mustache. He looked horrid, like a fat, old Amish guy. Does anyone remember that cartoon?

On second thought, it might be easier to list GOOD Christmas movies.

I loved Jingle All the Way as a child, but looking back its terrible. It tries to make fun of commercialism whilst being a big example of it.

Are there any good foreign Xmas movies? I get the feeling that away from the hyperactive US version of the holidays, there might be something worth watching.

Joyeux Noel. It is about the Christmas truce during the first world war.

I'd be hard pressed to admit it anywhere other than DL, but Recipe for a Perfect Christmas was cute. It starred Bobby Cannavalle, Carly Pope and Christine Baranski.

I vaguely remember some bad schlocky made-for-TV Christmas movie with Roma Downey and Eric McCormack.

The ubiquitous "A Christmas Story." The whole thing is depressing. I can see the father shooting himself and/or the entire family 3 days after Xmas.

One of the best has to be Truman Capote's A Christmas Memory, with Geraldine Page.

Best: The original How The Grinch Stole Christmas.

Worst: Jim Carrey's How The Grinch Stole Christmas.

Tori Spelling made a Christmas movie!? Oh, rapture! Thank you. I know what I'm doing this evening on Thanksgiving!

The Night They Saved Christmas starring Jaclyn Smith: what is DLs consensus?

by Hate when nothings on tvreply 1111/17/2012

Anything made by Lifetime or Hallmark is pretty much guaranteed to be syrupy crap devoid of meaning.

Deck the Halls with Matthew Broderick. Excruciatingly awful.

Most of the Hallmark channel Christmas movies are terrible, but I sorta enjoyed The Christmas Pageant with Melissa Gilbert.

The Jim Carrey A Christmas Carol. Completely soulless because of the motion capture, with the weirdest Ghost of Christmas Past ever.

The Christmas Shoes

The Hallmark Thanksgiving movie with Daphne Zuniga and Faye Dunaway is pretty damn good. It's playing all week on the Hallmark channel.

I love the classic Dickens' Christmas Carol, especially the one with old George C. Scott. The Ghost of Christmas Present is sexy.

WORST - Dudley Moore Santa movie

BEST - Batman Returns

[quote]Worst: Jim Carrey's How The Grinch Stole Christmas.

Seconded, thirded, and fourthed. I sat through it in the theater with my mouth open in stunned disbelief at how bad it was. Ron Howard should be ashamed.

One of my guilty favorites: Bad Santa

And the all-time worst: Pia Zadora in "Santa Claus Conquers the Martians.

by Hate when nothings on tvreply 1911/17/2012

I've never seen this one: Susan Lucci as Elizabeth "Ebbie" Scrooge in "Ebbie." It was referenced in an episode of "Will and Grace."

Did Tori's movie involve asking Santa for a new nose?

The Christmas that Almost Wasn't

by Hate when nothings on tvreply 2111/17/2012

There's a Patricia Heaton Christmas movie, that co-starred the guy from the sitcom about the American broadcaster who had to take a job in Calgary.

I think DL would want to hate on that...

"A Little House Christmas"

Pa sells Carrie to a freak show to buy Christmas Presents and Mary gets lost in a snowstorm as she goes off to find her. In the end, Carrie and Mary get to feel pa's nipples and realize he was right to do what he did.

Christopher Durang said that "It's a Wonderful Life" is about a man who discovers that life is worth living because people are willing to loan him money.

I thought the title of this thread was "Slutty Christmas Movies." And I thought to myself: what a strange thread.

My favorite shitty movie is "Miracle on 34th Shtreet". It's shet in my favority shitty, the best shitty in the world: New York!

by Hate when nothings on tvreply 2611/17/2012

I ww'ed r7 just because I agree

by Hate when nothings on tvreply 2711/17/2012

There was a horrible Christmas movie made by here! that had a gay male couple and they also shot it with a straight couple [to offset their anticipated losses] with George Hamilton.

I have blocked it from my memory it was so bad and Musto said he used the promo DVD as a coaster.

The absolutefuckingest worst X-mas movie.

by Hate when nothings on tvreply 2811/17/2012

EVAH!

by Hate when nothings on tvreply 2911/17/2012

If Christmas movies were slutty I'd watch more of them

by Hate when nothings on tvreply 3011/17/2012

They are all awful except "Very Bad Santa" and "Mixed Nuts". It doesn't have to be Christmas to watch those.

by Hate when nothings on tvreply 3111/17/2012

Well I've never seen Jim Carrey's How the Grinch Stole Christmas, but I'll vote for that. It was ridiculous how many commercial tie-ins they had for that movie (McDonalds, and all the other corporate crap) because it means THEY MISSED THE FUCKING POINT OF THE WHOLE STORY!!!
