Meryl's Other Spawn Makes Her Way to "The Newsroom"

Why do they even bother? Maybe someone can create a whole network for the talentless offspring of movie stars so they can be quarantined in one place.

"News flash! HBO’s The Newsroom will tackle this year’s Presidential campaign in its upcoming second season. The latest addition to the cast of Aaron Sorkin’s cable news drama is Grace Gummer, who has been tapped for a recurring role playing Hallie Shea, an embedded reporter covering the Mitt Romney campaign. This marks the second major TV role for Meryl Streep’s daughter Gummer who starred on Nickelodeon’s Gigantic. (She also guest starred in an episode of NBC’s Smash last season.) Gummer, whose older sister Mamie is the star of the new CW drama series Emily Owens, MD, is repped by CAA and Anonymous Content.

In other recurring casting news, Stephen Schneider (Best Friends Forever) has landed a three-episode arc on another NBC comedy series, midseason entry Save Me starring Anne Heche as Beth, a woman with a spiritual awakening. He will play Pete Dennings who is high school friends with Beth’s husband (Michael Landes). Schneider is with CAA, Schumacher Management and attorney Lev Ginsburg."

Except her kids are actually quite talented.

It won't be Gummer's second major role on a series, though-she'll be on ABC's Zero Hour for 5 episodes which air in the winter.

Stephen Schneider -- Bad nose job.

What ever happened to her son? I saw him in a play at a small theater in LA about five years ago and thought he was pretty good.

Well she does need a new job, Emily Owens' ratings are terrible and it's going to be cancelled any time now.
