The only reason the house remained in rethuglican hands is gerrymandered districts. The left can elect a president and control the senate, but the rest of the country is a gingerbread array of districts zigzagging around so there are more rethuglican voters in the majority of districts. This should be addressed asap.
Now we need to do away with gerrymandered house districts.

The problem is that, even though gerrymandering is pretty obvious, you can't pin it down. A state is given X number of congressional seats, and you can't really come up with rule that would work fairly in every state. In addition, the system was designed before politics became sports. If we were still a country of adults, we'd remember that Congressional districts should be designed for the good of the constituents and not just for politics.

Gotta regain control of the state houses to do that.

Democrats got 53% of the votes in House races. The ONLY reason that the GOP kept the House is because of the extreme gerrymandering.
In other words: Cheating and Rejecting the will of the people.
Republicans don't believe in Democracy.

In my state, a ballot measure that would have addressed this was defeated 64-36.

Don't rule out the courts, especially if there is a pattern of marginalizing minority voters.

Gerrymandering is actually the result of the civil rights act.
The courts ruled based on that act, that is is not only OK but should be REQUIRED that states create minority districts. This is why you have the NW Side of Chicago with Puerto Ricans and the SW Side of Chicago with Mexicans having a very weird shaped district so that a Latino can be elected.
Of course heaven forbid they should just use square shaped districts and have people run based on their abilty.
But you have racist minorities. Look at Jesse Jackson Jr, won overwhelmingly even though he's not even been to his office in over six months.
The black people were saying how he's neglecting them, yet will always vote in a black candidate. Now that he's being charged with federal crimes, he is also a victim, somehow.
I guess when your a white governor who's shady, in Illinois that makes you a criminal who goes to jail. But if you're black you're a victim of the man .
