Today Rachel Ray had a 5-Borough Firemen Cooking Contest. Pete from Tottenville (Engine 157) on Staten Island was the hottest guy. His chili didn't win.

IN theory, given it's location, shouldn't it be a great place to live? I'm surprised at least a few hip neighborhoods and development didn't spring up. I guess the residents and politicians block any of that. Any interesting areas at all?

A lot of New Yorkers go there to take their driver's test because it is easier to pass there then whatever Harlem place they take you up in the city.

Staten Island is incredibly diverse, hills, beaches, forests and parks. Lots of horrible urban blight but still some really nice areas as well.
