Great stuff to watch while high

I'm looking for some new things to watch while stoned (I've got my medical card!). Funny.. enthralling.. trippy.. what are your favorites?

by Anonymousreply 8201/05/2013

An old movie called Liquid Sky

by Anonymousreply 110/26/2012

Babe (the little pig movie).

by Anonymousreply 210/26/2012

"Liquid Sky" is the most unintentionally funny bad film ever. On a par with Mommie Dearest, but with extreme 1980's flair.

Get stoned, have munchies, and watch it.

Can I get an invite?

by Anonymousreply 310/26/2012

I used to watch Xena:Warrior Princess in my stoner days and found it hilarious.

by Anonymousreply 410/26/2012

Reality TV. Survivor in particular.

by Anonymousreply 510/26/2012

From the library: Any of the '90s era Masterpiece Theater imports to PBS - lush drizzly greenery, awkward pauses, people standing around - will work.

From the internet: Anything narrated by Richard Attenborough and TED talks.

DVD: Harry Potter, Clue, Beyond the Black Rainbow

by Anonymousreply 610/26/2012

Downton Abbey

by Anonymousreply 710/26/2012

I own this thread.

by Anonymousreply 810/26/2012

I like The Liquid Sky suggestion too! But my old VHS copy has long been destroyed anybody know where to get it?

When I used to get high all time I would frequently watch Barbarella or the cheesy Flash Gordon from 1980.

by Anonymousreply 1010/26/2012

H.R. Puffenstuff

by Anonymousreply 1110/27/2012

The 5,000 Fingers of Dr. T

by Anonymousreply 1210/27/2012

Why is it that most *out* homosxuals are on drugs? We have noticed this for decades.

by Anonymousreply 1310/27/2012

SpongeBob SquarePants.

The 5,000 Fingers of Dr. T - a musical nightmare by Dr. Seuss

The Adventures of Prince Achmed - an Arabian Nights adventure told in exquisitely animated silhouette figures made of black paper cut-outs. Made in the silent era but accompanied by a beautiful score.

by Anonymousreply 1410/27/2012

by Anonymousreply 1510/27/2012

I've never gotten high before, but if I had pot I'd take up r6's suggestion of getting high and watching TED talks. That sounds awesome.

by Anonymousreply 1610/27/2012 from the 30s I think.

by Anonymousreply 1710/27/2012

Drop acid and watch The Little Mermaid on the biggest screen you can find. Religious experience, I swear.

by Anonymousreply 1810/27/2012

So now we know what's wrong with MPC.

by Anonymousreply 1910/27/2012

Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf

by Anonymousreply 2010/27/2012

Re you fucking 15 OP? Who the hell gets high anymore...sick

by Anonymousreply 2110/27/2012

Anything colorful, visual, musical and/or fantastical, but without too much sadness or dialogue.

Conversely, horror movies, unless you're prone to anxiety and paranoia from THC (it happens, especially from certain batches).

Comedies, of course. But nothing too intellectual. You'll miss half of it and wind up rewinding to catch something, then you'll drop the remote or hit the menu button and wind up at the beginning of the movie and too stoned to fast forward or care anymore (this also happens).

Also old movies of any sort. Turn down the volume if you like, because these also make cool background wall paper for when you're doing other fun stoner things, like eating, listening to music, masturbating/having sex, blurting out non sequiturs about stupid shit to anyone who will listen (or no one, if you live alone), or just spacing out in between all of the above.

by Anonymousreply 2210/27/2012

Fantasia has worked for many years for many people.

R21--You need to get stoned tonight and watch this movie. The dancing hippos will put a smile on your sour old puss.

by Anonymousreply 2310/27/2012

First of all, congratulations and I mean that sincerely.

I found "Scarface" to be really intense. I was blown away by the beauty and talent of Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, which I had never appreciated before.

by Anonymousreply 2410/27/2012

Anything with Pam Grier.

by Anonymousreply 2510/27/2012

Baraka. One of the most beautiful and intriguing films ever made.

by Anonymousreply 2610/27/2012

Pink Flamingos

by Anonymousreply 2710/27/2012

"The Gang's All Here" All gay, stoned audience watching it when it was re-released in the early 70s.

by Anonymousreply 2810/27/2012

by Anonymousreply 2910/27/2012

The movie Natalie Wood barely finished.

Saw it high when it first came out and walked out thinking the death trip was amazing (was told later it was meh)

by Anonymousreply 3010/27/2012

The Stoner film of all stoner films:

by Anonymousreply 3410/27/2012

Valley of the Dolls staring DL fave Patty Duke.

by Anonymousreply 3510/27/2012

The Looney Looney Bugs Bunny Movie. Your gut will hurt for a week afterwards from laughing so hard.

by Anonymousreply 3610/27/2012

High on what? It really does depend on the answer.

by Anonymousreply 3710/27/2012

A lava lamp.

by Anonymousreply 3810/27/2012

you arent shrooming, you arent trippin... you are just getting stoned. You will fall asleep during whatever movie you idiot

by Anonymousreply 3910/27/2012

I forgot about Liquid Sky. What a stinker. What happened to the crazy lesbian who sang "ME AND MY RHYTHM BOX!" ?

If you're in an 80s bad movie mode, make it a double feature with Repo Man, which i loved, but hasn't aged well (unless you're stoned).

by Anonymousreply 4010/27/2012

Smoke copious amounts of pot and watch The Frankenstorm. We have front row seats here in New York. Hope my dealer doesn't raise his prices.

by Anonymousreply 4110/27/2012

"Stairway to Heaven" a movie from the 40s with David Niven.

Also - "Beauty and the Beast" (Jean Cocteau)

Was high when I saw both of them for the first time and it was wonderful.

by Anonymousreply 4210/27/2012

by Anonymousreply 4310/27/2012

Schindler's List

by Anonymousreply 4410/27/2012

There are some really great suggestions here, thanks everyone! I'll throw my own suggestion in- I watched a documentary a couple of weeks ago on PBS called "Lord of the Gourds". I was stoned out of my gourd (ha) and it was unreal. Think Best in Show meets giant pumpkins. I almost thought it was a mocumentary.

by Anonymousreply 5010/27/2012

Josie and the Pussycats is awesome high

Beyond the Valley of the Dolls

Alice in Wonderland

Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion

by Anonymousreply 5210/27/2012

2001 could be great, or could make you a paranoid overthinking wreck.

by Anonymousreply 5310/27/2012

Reefer Madness. Old no-budget instructional films warning teens about the dangers of drink, drugs, VD, etc. are even funnier when high.

"How To Say No: Moral Maturity" (1951)

by Anonymousreply 5410/27/2012

MPC! How are you? Datalounge refugees got shut down, how do you feel about Patty Hearst? Or about 9-11?

by Anonymousreply 5510/27/2012

I enjoyed these movies while high: Vanilla sky, or the original Spanish version open your eyes.

Any of the "Substitute" movies there are 3 or 4 of them.

Alien, Aliens, Alien 3 but skip Alien resurrection

any sort of weird indie film

Welcome to the dollhouse

by Anonymousreply 5610/27/2012

[quote]Welcome to the dollhouse

Great movie, but not something I personally would want to watch while high.

by Anonymousreply 5710/27/2012

Grandma's Boy

by Anonymousreply 5810/28/2012

[quote]Re you fucking 15 OP? Who the hell gets high anymore...sick

I'm pretty sure this is satirical, but just in case it wasn't... Probably more people are getting high than ever before.

by Anonymousreply 6501/04/2013

The Lawrence Welk reruns make you feel really fucked up even if you aren't, so I can't even comprehend watching them while high.

Wayne's World.

by Anonymousreply 7001/05/2013

Mystery Science Theater 3000 owns this thread!

by Anonymousreply 7101/05/2013

American Psycho.

by Anonymousreply 7201/05/2013

R66, no shit!

by Anonymousreply 7301/05/2013

r11--don't forget "Lidsville", also created by the wonderfully fucked up Sid & Marty Kroft! Here's the opening to this trippy show ( Bonus : Charles Nelson Reilly )

by Anonymousreply 7401/05/2013

My two favorite stoner movies are Fast, Loose, & Out of Control -- a documentary about a lion tamer, a topiarist, robots, and mole rats; and the king of all bizarro stoner mind fuck movies: Phantoms of the Phantasm -- really beyond description, unlike anything I've ever seen, I've watched it many times & always see something new.

by Anonymousreply 7501/05/2013

Identikit aka The Driver's Seat aka Psychotic with Liz Taylor and Andy Warhol in a bit part..The dialogue is priceless

by Anonymousreply 7601/05/2013

I once had a wonderfully maudlin evening watching "Love Is A Many-Splendored Thing" while high on Percodan. BF came home and found me sobbing into a bag of Cheetos.

by Anonymousreply 7701/05/2013

I CAN'T believe I am the first one to mention Cheech & Chong.

by Anonymousreply 7801/05/2013

Fargo or Raising Arizona.

And shows like Chopped and House Hunters (especially the International version) never fail to capture my attention. You can join the broadcast at any time and still totally get into it.

by Anonymousreply 7901/05/2013

Yellow Submarine?

by Anonymousreply 8001/05/2013

The ITV Christmas Pantos written by Simon Nye are particularly hilarious when viewed while high.

There are four, based on children's stories but told with adult innuendo, they are Cinderella, Aladdin, Dick Whittington and this link which goes to Jack and the Beanstalk.

Jack's mother is played in drag by Adrian Edmondson, real-life husband of DL favorite, Jennifer Saunders.
