Anyone here remember Richard (Dick) Gautier?
He was my first TV crush and I never really knew his name at the time but he was in a short lived TV show in 1974ish called 'Here We Go Again'...a comedy about divorced couples.
I came across his name looking for something else on the internet and bells rang across the decades.
He used to appear on a lot of game shows in the 70s. Here he is on Tattletales @ link.

He was also the delicious Jaime, the robot agent on Get Smart

I watched [italic]Get Smart[/italic] as a kid. He played Hymie the robot.

I just saw him this week on a Password rerun. He's still alive!

Here's the intro to Here We Go Again...not what you'd call a memorable theme tune and very badly shot (see the shadow across the actress who's chatting with Larry Hagman in the car).

OMG Alice Ghostly! I always thought she was Paul Lynde in a wig. She needs her own thread.
|by Anonymous||reply 7||10/20/2012|
My father's name was Hymie.

You can buy his signed photo from his 'official' website for $20!
|by Anonymous||reply 9||10/20/2012|
Oh yes, I remember him well - he was a staple on Game Shows and other TV shows in the 1970's. He wasn't really a huge star, just someone I was accustomed to seeing back then.

His son Dan played the last Kevin Buchanan on One Life to Live.
|by Anonymous||reply 11||10/20/2012|
Whatever happened to him? He was good!
|by Anonymous||reply 12||10/20/2012|
Wasn't he on When Things Were Rotten?
|by Anonymous||reply 13||10/20/2012|
He was the original Conrad Birdie on Broadway in "Bye Bye Birdie."
|by Anonymous||reply 14||10/20/2012|
I had no idea Dan Gauthier was Dick's son. Dan is HOT!
Dick is an artist now, has his own website.
|by Anonymous||reply 16||10/20/2012|
Well, turns out Dan ISN'T his son, r11. He only had three kids with Barbara Stuart, and none of them is Dan.
|by Anonymous||reply 17||10/20/2012|
Why does Dan have an H in his name?
In fact, I don't think Dan Gauthier & Dick Gautier are father & son.
Link please to prove it.

I always thought he was gay.
|by Anonymous||reply 19||10/20/2012|
[quote]I always thought he was gay.
Why would you think that?
|by Anonymous||reply 20||10/20/2012|
maybe you should take a look at the picture in your link, r20 ; )
|by Anonymous||reply 21||10/20/2012|
I often get him mixed up with Joby Baker, who was also a staple of 60's films, usually playing Elvis's friend.
|by Anonymous||reply 22||10/20/2012|
I always wanted to lick Dick's feets. I bet they were tanned and masculine.

One of my first celebrity crushes, long before I understood what it meant.
He was sex on a stick in the 70s!!
|by Anonymous||reply 26||10/21/2012|
He was the guest star on The Rockford Files shown today on MeTV, which is why I found this thread. His character was a blackmailer and the murder victim which Rockford was suspected of killing. He was really sexy, but all of the pants which he wore did not fit well, including swim trunks. For one thing, the waist on all of them was several inches above the navel, the way old men used to wear them.
|by Anonymous||reply 27||02/04/2013|
He reminds me of Sal Romano from Mad Men
|by Anonymous||reply 28||02/04/2013|
I, too, thought he was dead until I realized I was confusing him with Dick Shawn, who died fairly young.
|by Anonymous||reply 29||02/04/2013|
I used to confuse him with George Hamilton.
|by Anonymous||reply 30||02/04/2013|
HYMIE!!!!! HE WAS FUCKING HOT.
|by Anonymous||reply 31||02/04/2013|
It was alluded to in R4, but no one has actually mentioned that he was the original Broadway Conrad Birdie.
|by Anonymous||reply 32||02/04/2013|
How does he pronounce his surname?
|by Anonymous||reply 34||02/04/2013|
R33 OOPS! Sorry I missed that.
|by Anonymous||reply 35||02/04/2013|
I've always heard go-tee-AY. That's how it would be in French, anyway.
|by Anonymous||reply 36||02/04/2013|
And that's how he pronounces it, R36.
Has it been pointed out that his late wife played Sgt. Carter's girlfriend on Gomer Pyle?
|by Anonymous||reply 37||02/04/2013|
He had a hairy chest, right?
|by Anonymous||reply 38||02/04/2013|
I may be mistaken but I remember Dick Gautier doing soft core porn at one point in his career. I'm pretty sure it was him though. Great body.
|by Anonymous||reply 41||01/11/2015|
He wore so much eyeliner he eventually went blind. Today, Dick is a blind painter.
