Bill Maher 10/12/12

I really want to watch this to see Sheila Bair and Ben Affleck, but I don't think I could get through an hour with Ann Coulter.

Anyone going to watch this evening?

by Anonymousreply 6410/14/2012

OK, Coulter's only an interview but Darrell Issa is on the panel.

by Anonymousreply 110/12/2012

The Montana governor and Darrell Issa are going to kill each other tonight. Lets see how it goes.

by Anonymousreply 210/12/2012

WTF was that old slag wearing?

by Anonymousreply 310/12/2012

Ben Affleck should wear his Argo wig all the time boy be looking good with it....but he talks so fast....does he have deep lows? He seems to have manic highs.

by Anonymousreply 410/12/2012

Ann C had some funky spray tan going on.

by Anonymousreply 510/12/2012

by Anonymousreply 610/12/2012

Ben Affleck looks really good though.

by Anonymousreply 710/12/2012

That Montana governor really needs to run for president the next time around.

Oh, and Affleck does look pretty hot.

by Anonymousreply 810/12/2012

I really appreciated Shelia Bair being on. It seems like bank regulation is too overlooked.

by Anonymousreply 910/12/2012

is this online anywhere?

by Anonymousreply 1010/12/2012

R10, the podcast of the show will be available in a couple of days (for free) on itunes.

by Anonymousreply 1110/12/2012

Did Coulter talk about Maher dating black chicks?

by Anonymousreply 1210/12/2012

Brian Schweitzer is amazing. He's damn near the perfect presidential candidate but I don't think he cares to run.

by Anonymousreply 1310/12/2012

Oh, he totally smacked Issa the Car Thief the fuck down. It was beautiful. Here's his wiki. Pretty interesting guy. Could make some reds go blue.

by Anonymousreply 1410/12/2012

It was a pretty boring show today. Maher's jokes fell flat and the new rules not so funny.

I purposely did not watch Coulter's segment. Not interested in anything she has to say.

Issa is a partisan lying liar as usual. Right off the bat, he wanted to jump on the Benghazi issue. Again, blaming the Obama Admin yada yada yada. Ben retorts that he's playing politics with a tragedy.

Ben seems like a very serious man now. It's clear he's no longer that guy who believed in hope and change. Realism has finally set him.

Brian Schweitzer didn't speak much. Seems like a nice guy. Disappointed in Maher not mentioning that the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals reinstated Montana's campaign donation limits, especially with the Governor right there.

Overall, not a very memorable show. No real interesting topic. I thought they would be all over the VP Debate. They weren't. Even Ben was mocking Biden. Normally, I'd catch a rerun if the show was really good. Today, once was more than enough.

by Anonymousreply 1510/12/2012

I should note that while Ben went on a monologue about how Biden's interruptions and laughs seemed rude and how he (Ben) had taught his daughter that when someone is talking you should just listen, Ben himself couldn't restrain himself. When Issa was speaking, Ben gave that same frustrated face when you hear someone bullshitting.

What was it he taught his daughter again...?

by Anonymousreply 1610/12/2012

[quote] how he (Ben) had taught his daughter that when someone is talking you should just listen

bull....Ben is never allowed to speak with the children

by Anonymousreply 1710/12/2012

Ben Affleck used to be much more liberal in the past. He's clearly preparing to move a tad to the right due to his political aspirations. No question.

by Anonymousreply 1810/12/2012

I give Issa props for appearing but he is so douchey when he tries to be funny and then laughs at his own non-jokes.

by Anonymousreply 1910/13/2012

Show sucked. Cuntler and Maher clearly are friends so there was no smack down of the bitch. The ugly REpublican was angry and fun, but didn't have anyone to buck him because the Montana guy smiled too much and his comments lost their weight; Affleck was not on his game (did not want to offend some viewers with a big movie out this weekend?) and Maher seemed tired. Meh

by Anonymousreply 2010/13/2012

If Ben had any political aspirations he may want to go a more conservative democtratic path, but not full on Republican. That's not going to happen.

by Anonymousreply 2110/13/2012

I wish Ann Coulter would meet a bunch of "racists" in a dark alley.

by Anonymousreply 2210/13/2012

I appreciate Ann Coulter appearances as an affirmation of my sanity and a challenge for my restraint to throw things at the TV screen while screaming 'you cunt, Cunt, CUNT, CUUUUUUNT!!!'.

by Anonymousreply 2310/13/2012

Here's the full episode (until it gets pulled) . . .

by Anonymousreply 2410/13/2012

Won't watch any show with AC on it. Ever. Can't stand Issa. He's a pig. I'm sure the Right will love Ben's movie about the Iranian hostage crisis. Great timing.

I like Ben Affleck. But I'm not seeing this movie. If he is so disappointed in Obama, WTF has he done about getting a better Congress elected.

I couldn't sit at the same table as Issa, and shame on Maher for inviting him. There are few people in this world I actually hate, but Maher managed to have two of them on his show last night. All he needed was Eric Cantor and it would have been a Trifecta.

by Anonymousreply 2510/13/2012

One more thing. The fucking Right owns the airwaves. They control the AP wire, Faux "News," Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, Hannity, O'Reilly, etc. I no longer subscribe to the "equal time" bullshit.

When Maher goes to the Right we need to boycott him and let him know we are. I like to see intelligent discussions with intelligent disagreements.

I am not saying he shouldn't have Conservatives on. Not at all. I am saying he needs to stop bringing on these assholes who are there more for the spectacle. He allows the circus to invade his hour and I don't need it.

by Anonymousreply 2610/13/2012

After the Ann Coulter segment, which was unwatchable, it was a very good show. Sheila Bair was amazingly interesting, and I loved how all the rowdy boys shut up for a while and paid attention to someone who actually knows what she's talking about.

Also loved seeing the Montana guv repeatedly smack down Darrell Issa.

My only other thought on Ann Coulter is something I think every time she opens her mouth: This is some weird version of performance art, right? Because no sane person can believe the shit she says.

by Anonymousreply 2710/13/2012

The show was more informative than entertaining. The panelists had some good questions for Bair, who was really exceptionally smart and articulate. I wish they'd have followed up on her comment how both parties are avoiding fixing finance, presumably because wall st owns them both.

by Anonymousreply 2810/13/2012

R27 Totally agree about ann coulter. The shit that comes out of this woman is crazy and unbelievable! No one should give her a platform to spout her nonsense. Her opening segment about no more racists in this country was embarassing.

by Anonymousreply 2910/13/2012

I agree r27, she has made a lot of money with her dog and pony show.

And I think for the most part, it's just that: an act.

by Anonymousreply 3010/13/2012

It's all showbusiness, Darlings! They all have the same agents.

by Anonymousreply 3110/13/2012

Ben's an asshole. He absolutely has political ambitions and is clearly a neo con:

[quote]Ben Affleck appeared on The O’Reilly Factor on the Fox News Channel on Wednesday and strayed from liberal doctrine, defending Gen. David Petraeus and U.S. intelligence personnel who may have -- as host Bill O’Reilly put it -- “water-boarded” and “rendition-ed” people.

He's also all for war with Iran.

His movie basically glorifies getting (among others) the Shah's people out of Iran, because they were such wonderful people.

Loathe what he has become.

by Anonymousreply 3210/13/2012

Sheila Bair was very good and is a good example of the kind of republican he should get on his show. Of course, she's got a book to sell or he may not have gotten her at all. He's had maybe one good panel all year because his conservative guests are bigmouthed morons.

by Anonymousreply 3310/13/2012

I wonder how much Febreze they need to get rid of the rotten crotch smell after Coulter leaves.

by Anonymousreply 3410/13/2012

I turned it off as soon as she was introduced. You have to be desperate to have Ann Coulter as a guest on your show, and while Maher may be a desperate host, I am not a desperate audience.

by Anonymousreply 3510/13/2012

Issa and Coulter are even more revolting on the Overtime segment.

by Anonymousreply 3610/13/2012

Ann reminds me of a grown up "Nancy" from "Little House on The Prairie" - in look and "assholery."

by Anonymousreply 3710/13/2012

[quote]Brian Schweitzer is amazing. He's damn near the perfect presidential candidate but I don't think he cares to run.

He gave speeches to the Iowa and NH delegations at the DNC in Charlotte, which signals a presidential run in 2016. Chris Matthews asked him about it and Schweitzer smiled and hinted that it was a possibility.

by Anonymousreply 3810/13/2012

Well, R32, that explains a lot. Matt Damon is shilling for the TD Ameritrade guy who is heavily invested in the Tea Party and the Extreme Right, rich nough to be up there with the Koch brothers. Matt Damon, who has been ripping Obama for the past year about education a subject he knows a lot about because "his mother was a scoolteacher."I've lost repsect for noth of them. Clooney & Pitt are moer authentic anyway.

by Anonymousreply 3910/13/2012

Affleck is amazingly smart. It's funny in Overtime when he glares at Coulter. I wonder what he was thinking.

by Anonymousreply 4010/13/2012

[quote] It was a pretty boring show today. Maher's jokes fell flat and the new rules not so funny.

That pretty much describes EVERY episode.

by Anonymousreply 4110/13/2012

Maher is an ass. He loves to rake right wing nutjobs over the coals, but he makes an exception in Coulter's case. She must suck his dick or rim his ass or something. That's the only reason I can think of for his restrained behavior towards her and always making the excuse "she's a friend of mine."

by Anonymousreply 4210/13/2012

You just know her hair smells like Marlboro Reds.

by Anonymousreply 4310/13/2012

I'll admit I watched her interview. Anyone know what she was talking about her in regards to her 'biker boyfriend'?

by Anonymousreply 4410/13/2012

Ben seems a little tick tongued

by Anonymousreply 4510/13/2012

Ann always looks like a hooker in a cheap dress

by Anonymousreply 4610/13/2012

Last week somebody posted a website where you could watch the episodes...anyone have it?

by Anonymousreply 4710/13/2012

Bill acted strange when he was talking to Cunter

by Anonymousreply 4810/13/2012

Here ya go, R47

by Anonymousreply 4910/13/2012

No r42 he's pretty polite to all his guests, including the wingnuts. He subscribes to the belief that when you invite someone on your show, you don't treat them like crap. Maher is well aware that his audience is made up of people like him so he knows it a tough crowd for Issa and Coulter. In past shows, I recall Maher telling an audience(s) off for saying or doing some rude off-camera to one of the guests.

When he was introducing Coulter, he told the audience to "be nice." Anyways, after that I changed the channel so I didn't see the interview.

by Anonymousreply 5010/14/2012

I also agree with r27. How this woman is allowed to pontificate on any sane subject is beyond me. And another thing, these talk shows need a new bunch of talking heads to speak instead of the same old tired ones-Will,Gingrinch,Carvelle,Matalin,O'Reilly,Hannity,Limbaugh,Coulter,etc. Surely there are more than just a handful of people who are much more qualified to give their opinions on current events.

by Anonymousreply 5110/14/2012

"When he was introducing Coulter, he told the audience to "be nice."

I think that's proof postive that she sucks his dick and licks his asshole.

by Anonymousreply 5210/14/2012

I think Ben was a douche to complain about Biden interupting and say nothing about Mitt doing the same. Also on Bill's show you have no choice but to talk over someone if you want to say something and Ben did many times...

He probablly was trying to get Repigs to see his movie...

by Anonymousreply 5310/14/2012

Yeah, R53, Ben was annoying. The best bit of acting I've ever seen him do was when he was talking about the mail he received from creepy older men. His eyes sort of glazed and he said "Yeah it was sick." The first time I've seen an actual emotion from him. Sorry, he's a terrible actor. Fuck his move to the middle. I still love Brian Schweitzer. I could see him being pretty solid in 2016. His speech at the convention was okay but he wowed me in shutting down Issa, something nobody seems able to do.

by Anonymousreply 5410/14/2012

As a Montanan, we have been fortunate with Schweitzer as our governor. It's a shame we can't keep him in place, due to term limits. He has never gotten the memo about being mute or polite while someone's trying to sell him a pile of crap. He's a soil scientist by education and spent years as an irrigation specialist in the Middle East and Africa. He definitely has national aspirations and was on the short lists for Sec of Energy and Interior, but wanted to finish his second term. Lots of us here pulling for his AG, Steve Bullock, to win the gubernatorial election.

by Anonymousreply 5510/14/2012

R55, I love Bozeman. If you guys had some black folks, I'd live there in an instant. I also loved when Bill told Ann she was wearing the same dress as when she visited the first show.

by Anonymousreply 5610/14/2012

Ben is a multi-millionaire, it's in his best interest to vote repuke.

I think there are a lot of rich Hollywood types that vote that way. It's just the idiots like Stacey Dash that say it outloud.

by Anonymousreply 5710/14/2012

For R47. Bookmark it please.

by Anonymousreply 5810/14/2012

I could care less about his (or anybody's) politics, but Affleck IS smart and still handsome...but he was looking mighty tired on Friday night. Doing press junkets for Argo and raising a family must have wiped him out.

by Anonymousreply 5910/14/2012

R56 - Bozeman is my hometown, and as the site of Montana State University and being near some great skiing, fly fishing and Yellowstone National Park, it's very appealing, but it's tough to find a job. Montana has always had low wages and work has never been easy to find. We don't call it "Poverty with a view" for no reason. Our historically agricultural and resource-extraction-based economy and isolation has not facilitated racial diversity. But that's changing, and Bozo and Missoula will be where it happens.

by Anonymousreply 6010/14/2012

I think this was the best show ever and yes I have seen all the shows. Schweitzer hit Issa with why he voted against more money for security for embassies and why he didn't investigate the Iraq war when he voted for the deaths of 500 plus American soldiers. Ben Affleck was great and he looked great too. Bill Maher's jokes were fantastic. Ann Coulter was still a cunt.

by Anonymousreply 6110/14/2012

You complain about Fox news being so biased, why can't a liberal host have conservatives on his show? This is not MSNBC.

by Anonymousreply 6210/14/2012

I'm not used to such a heavy dose of Coulter. She really comes across as stupid. Not just for what she says, but because of how she interprets Maher's comments and the audience reaction. What a world that this thing can sell books.

by Anonymousreply 6310/14/2012

Coulter clearly knows better than the crap and venom she spews.
