Tasting Friends: 28-course menu at Atera

Exquisite fare or pretentious crap?

by Anonymousreply 1410/10/2012

Pretentious crap.

by Anonymousreply 110/10/2012

Most of it sounds awful.

by Anonymousreply 210/10/2012

There are really only 5 of those bites I would want to eat.

by Anonymousreply 310/10/2012

It's almost like they're playing a joke. Charred leek with hay ash and sheep's milk yogurt? It's literally eating garbage with bodily fluids. They even photographed it sitting on newspaper. So you can wrap it up and throw it in the trash where it belongs.

[quote]A black pudding wafer with pork fat and huckleberry, a homage to razor clam, fried lichen, charred leek with hay ash, a beet ember...

The Onion couldn't write this any better.

OK, I can't unsee that bloody mess of lamb tartare. If anything will turn me vegetarian it's that.

by Anonymousreply 610/10/2012

Does anyone like this stuff? Or does everyone just pretend to, like abstract art?

by Anonymousreply 710/10/2012

R6 the lamb tartare is the dish I most want to eat.

by Anonymousreply 810/10/2012

It's food as fetish.

by Anonymousreply 910/10/2012

A menu only Josh Kilmer-Purcell could love.

Comment from NYTimes:

"Call me a Philistine, but it looks more like a script for fear factor than a restaurant menu."

Didn't I see some of these dishes on Chopped?
