Grey Flannel

Is anyone else a fan of this classic fragrance?

by Anonymousreply 1810/10/2012

I remember wearing it as a teen ( over 20 years ago) and then smelling it again recently, it made me gag.

The smell of Grey Flanel and Polo always gave me a boner. Weird, huh? I think it was probably all the frats boys I kusted after who wore those colognes...

I like it, and even bought some a couple of years ago in a fit of nostalgia. Don't wear it often, though I'm in my 40s now so probably would carry it better than I did when I first received some as a gift when I was in high school. Seemed immediately too mature for me at the time, though I've been in love with the oak moss middle note ever since.

Grey Flannel and Polo remind me of every gay bar I've ever set foot in....and, like most men who wear fragrances, they fucking drench themselves in it, causing anyone in the same zip code to wretch violently.

No thanks Grandpa.

Cologne is so 80s. I don't know any guy under 40 who wears it.

by Anonymousreply 610/09/2012

In the day, we never referred to it as "Polo"; it was called "Gay Bar".

On what planet does Grey Flannel resemble Polo? Polo is something guidos wear. Usually instead of bathing, much like the similarly noxious Cool Water (do they still make that shit?).

Grey Flannel is a very clean scent, and you only need to use very little of it.

My-ex-the-cop loved it -- and, by extension, so did I.

But that was in the late 80's, OP.

Love it

[quote]But that was in the late 80's, OP.

What is that supposed to mean?

by Anonymousreply 1310/09/2012

Why does it matter when it was most popular. If it smells good it smells good regardless or the year.

by Anonymousreply 1410/09/2012

"I don't know any guy under 40 who wears it."

You say that as if the brokeass taste of "any guy under 40" actually matters.

I prefer Canoe

by Anonymousreply 1610/09/2012

I always thought it smelled like Mr. Bubble

I loved the little grey flannel bad it came in. So CHIC!
