Mitt Romney, a devoutly religious man

called his own sons liars on international television, with tens of millions of people watching.

by Anonymousreply 3110/08/2012

...and even worse, he was equating them to the president of the united states, calling them "boys" in a deliberate racist dog-whistle to the worst of his base.

by Anonymousreply 110/07/2012

Romney lacks a moral compass. Quelle surprise!

How do wealthy Christians respond to Jesus's quote "A rich man has as much chance of entering the kingdom of heaven as a camel has of passing through the eye of a needle"?

by Anonymousreply 310/07/2012

They ignore it of course.

by Anonymousreply 410/07/2012

The wealthy do not believe the bunk, they use religion as you might wear a coat.

by Anonymousreply 510/07/2012

I remember reading a year or so ago that some conservatives were going to "retranslate" the Bible to remove "liberal bias" (all that liberal bias that crept in under the watch of James I), and their main example was that Jesus didn't say "rich man," he said something like "man who doesn't use his wealth compassionately."

by Anonymousreply 610/07/2012

Forget the wealthy, how on earth do the rest of these so-called religious people have the nerve to defend the greed of the wealthy?

How do you 'teach a man to fish' when you continue to take away the tools he'd need and steal all of the fish?

[quote]“The modern conservative is engaged in one of man's oldest exercises in moral philosophy; that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness.” ― John Kenneth Galbraith

by Anonymousreply 710/07/2012

Any Rand= "superior moral justification" for selfishness.

Ron Paul only stopped mentioning her once word got out that she was an atheist.

by Anonymousreply 810/07/2012

He still worships her.

by Anonymousreply 910/07/2012

Not the fact that she was also on the dole, R8?

by Anonymousreply 1010/07/2012

Have you not gotten the memo? When Republicans contradict themselves, they're not lying, hypocritical sacks of shit -- they're just pivoting and refining their message.

by Anonymousreply 1110/07/2012

Mitt is a textbook narcissist.

by Anonymousreply 1210/07/2012

As a Brit I am SO GLAD the religious right doesn't really exist here, and has no political sway. If it did it would send me NUTS, nasty, selfish right-wing loons following a liberal hippy, it just doesn't add up.

by Anonymousreply 1310/07/2012

All they need to do is understand what was meant by the 'eye of a needle'. It referred to the small gates of the walled cities in ancient times. Therefore difficult but not impossible for a camel to pass through but they are a bunch of hypocrites anyway so it doesn't much matter what it means.

by Anonymousreply 1410/07/2012

The term "Devoutly Religious" just means wacko.

by Anonymousreply 1510/07/2012

good point

by Anonymousreply 1610/07/2012

What about all the lying Romney does? How do the wacko xtians think that is okay. (I know Mormons think lying is good if it is for a good reason, so I am just asking about the devout xtian freaks).

by Anonymousreply 1710/07/2012

I heard the part where he referred to his sons as liars but DL is the only place that seemed to comment on it.

by Anonymousreply 1810/07/2012

Perfect, r7.

by Anonymousreply 1910/07/2012

Somebody needs to bring it up in the media, R18

by Anonymousreply 2010/07/2012

He was simply pointing out that people think if they repeat a lie enough times people will believe it.

by Anonymousreply 2110/07/2012

Isn't that his core campaign strategy, R21?

by Anonymousreply 2210/07/2012

Romney is a liar, fraud, phoney and a douchebag. I imagine his sons are the same.

by Anonymousreply 2310/07/2012

Mormon = phony

I've only had business dealing with a few Mormons but they all gave off a phony vibe. Never trust a Mormon.

by Anonymousreply 2410/07/2012

Most mass murders declare themselves devoutly religious too.

by Anonymousreply 2510/07/2012

r24 their faith specifically says they can lie to non-Mormons.

by Anonymousreply 2610/07/2012

They don't like ethnic people.

by Anonymousreply 2710/07/2012

A Mormon told me this joke:

Why shouldn't you take one Mormon fishing?

He'll drink all your beer.

I didn't get it. Then the guy said the joke is we only follow the rules in front of each other. Get us alone and we do whatever.

Biggest bunch of hypocrites ever. Guy was living in Boston but was raised in SLC. He dreaded his annual visit to see the family. But in front of other Mormons he toed the line.

by Anonymousreply 2810/07/2012

Romney doesn't seem like a true believer.

by Anonymousreply 2910/08/2012

We learned how to lie from you, Dad! We learned it from you!

by Anonymousreply 3010/08/2012

The Mormon Church, COLDS, is all about power and money.

Mitt is devout in both.

The Bishop Romney is one snake oil salesman.
