strange I don't remember a vote when blacks & whites wanted to get married back in the day !!

How many states are voting on it?

by Anonymousreply 310/11/2012

And R3, that's because nobody did. Just as nobody should be voting on it now. It's completely unconstitutional. They're called "rights" because you don't GET to vote on them. The majority doesn't get to determine which of their civil rights the minority gets access to.

But... well... here we are.

It seems likely that three of the four will actually pass, validating same-sex marriage in three more states.

This is misleading.

Washington, Maryland, and Maine will all vote on whether same-sex marriage will be legalized in those states. Minnesota will be voting on a constitutional amendment that would limit legal recognition of marriage in that state to heterosexual couples. No matter the outcome of the vote, Minnesota will not have legalized same-sex marriage afterwards.
