I sent my first blog into the Huffington Post four hours ago and it still hasn't posted.

Do you think they have rejected it and just aren't telling me?

by Anonymousreply 3110/08/2012

OP, they don't publish blogs by nobodies. You need to be hired.

by Anonymousreply 110/03/2012

My friend has been published, but yeah, it takes a while, and their editors are kind of interesting in what they change.

by Anonymousreply 210/03/2012

Takes awhile, OP.

"Published" is a generous term. I believe the HuffPo version of being published is having your words speed-rewritten by one of Arianna's thousands of Bangladeshi search engine optimization experts. Then a team of highly trained chipmunks goes through and creates every possible SEO term and pastes it at the top of the page. For this you receive nothing, HuffPo readers also get nothing, and Arianna makes a fortune from ads, so it all works out very well for everyone.

If you work for free, you're conceding your work has no value.

Unless you were plugging your book, in which case consider it a fair barter.

by Anonymousreply 710/04/2012

What's the field you're in?

by Anonymousreply 810/04/2012

OP, don't be dense. All we have to do is look for your post under "Politics" or "Media." If I find it, I shall post it :)

by Anonymousreply 1110/05/2012

This is the only post that appears to be filed under "Politics" and "Media." The author also looks like he's gay or at least gay friendly (which would explain the posting on DL).

Anyway, if OP did write the article at the link, he has nothing to worry about. I think the writer makes a compelling argument (and, um, he's cute).

[quote]AAAAAAAAAAAAcually, [R1] shows how little you know.

You know who this sounds like? MHB.

by Anonymousreply 1310/06/2012

MHB couldn't get published in the Pennysaver.

by Anonymousreply 1410/06/2012

Good one, Ian. You have my respect.

by Anonymousreply 1510/06/2012

Awesome...kudos, OP.

by Anonymousreply 1610/06/2012

An acquaintance of mine was recently asked to submit blog posts to Huffington in my field. She is minor league, q list at best, and not considered an expert by any of my colleagues. A Huffington "editor" just happened upon her personal, very poorly written, blog and thought it would be an interesting addition.

Any educated person knows this. Huffington is not considered real reading by anyone. It's fluffy garbage.

by Anonymousreply 1710/06/2012

Well, G/R/Umpy, if it was typical of your posts here, I'd say you are correct.

by Anonymousreply 1910/06/2012

This is funny. OP came here and posted like a snarky asshole, thinking he would remain anonymous. Thank you, DL Amateur Sleuths, for tracking him down.

Is this guy MHB? If so, ick.

OP, when you draw a paycheck for your writing, come tell us.

by Anonymousreply 2010/06/2012

OP - good job.

by Anonymousreply 2110/06/2012

Well, this sure sounds like that dried-up old cunt:

[quote] I am widely considered to have a major level of expertise and am highly recognizable in my field.

by Anonymousreply 2210/06/2012

[quote]Do you think they have rejected it and just aren't telling me?

I think you're just to stupid to find it.

by Anonymousreply 2310/06/2012

[quote]OP, they don't publish blogs by nobodies

Excuse me do you know where they keep the Burns-O's

by Anonymousreply 2410/06/2012

OP, I've blogged for HuffPo and they've taken as long as 3 or 4 days to get the post up.

by Anonymousreply 2510/06/2012

The same could be said about Michael Huffington whenever Ariana wanted sex.

by Anonymousreply 2610/06/2012

Ian is CUTE!!

by Anonymousreply 2710/06/2012

I doubt they rejected it, as you fear.

I would offer it's probably a good symbolic indication of the number of people who will read it, however.

by Anonymousreply 2810/06/2012

Now OP's shy? Loser.

by Anonymousreply 2910/08/2012

I don't write r19. That's not my job.
