by Anonymousreply 109/30/2012

It's a cruel cruel autumn

by Anonymousreply 209/30/2012

It's their 30th anniversary tour

by Anonymousreply 309/30/2012

Are the tickets free?

by Anonymousreply 409/30/2012

Their "On the floor" remix was really good, but I listened to the rest of their album and it sucked. They need to do more songs like that.

by Anonymousreply 509/30/2012

The Drama album was great, R5. Feel for You was a killer track. The Solasso Remix of Look on the Floor was also great.

Their last album, Viva, was too pop for my taste.

by Anonymousreply 609/30/2012

Sara and Keren still look fab

by Anonymousreply 709/30/2012

Out of curiosity I logged on to see how much tickets cost for the shows. R4 isn't too far off the mark. It looks like tickets (without any service fees) to any of the shows range from $10 to $15.

All of the venues are Hard Rock's and each of the sites says that 100% of the proceeds are being donated to a breast cancer research organization (different specific charities in each city).

The price is right, and it's even better than it's all for charity.

by Anonymousreply 810/01/2012

I'm heading to the show in NYC suckas!!!

by Anonymousreply 910/01/2012

The closest they're getting to me is Chicago, and that's a 6 or 7 hour drive. Love them, but I'll pass.

by Anonymousreply 1010/01/2012

Hard Rock Cafe? Really?

by Anonymousreply 1110/01/2012

They should play on next years "Totally 80's" @ the Hollywood Bowl like these chicks!

Yes, this years concert with them, the Psychedelic Furs. the Motels, & Bow Wow Wow was amazing and fun!

The ol' bitches were on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen last night. They didn't get interviewed, they just performed Cruel Summer at the end of the broadcast.

To their credit, they sang live to a music track. Their clothes are severely stepped up, but their performances are still as messy as they first were back in 1982 and that has always been very appealing to me.

Side note: Andy Cohen is an unabashed clown.

by Anonymousreply 1410/02/2012

Is Siobahn touring with them? Because I thought she reunited Shakespears Sister?

by Anonymousreply 1510/02/2012

No Siobhan R15.

And if she ruined Shakespeares Sister, it was hers to ruin. I don't care for the way she let Marcella Detroit go, but SS was really her as a solo artist so she could do what she wanted with band members or co-vocalists.

Siobhan is a crazy bitch, but she's responsible for some decent music.

by Anonymousreply 1610/02/2012

She also has Dave Stewart money and doesn't have to do a damn thing.

by Anonymousreply 1710/02/2012

I can't help it: I think Andy Cohen is flat out adorable. He clearly loves what he's doing, which is a wonderful thing. And I think he's sexy as hell. I'd fuck him.

by Anonymousreply 1810/02/2012

It was excellent, but short. Only 12 songs, but they did sing live. There was about 200 people there and no autographs afterwards. It lasted about an hour but was fun.

by Anonymousreply 1910/03/2012

Could you list the song set for us, NYC Boy?

by Anonymousreply 2010/03/2012

This is not in order and from memory: Nathan Jones, Really Saying Something, Get on the Floor, Cruel Summer, Robert DeNiro's Waiting, Love in the First Degree, Now or Never, I Want You Back, Look on the Floor (Hypnotic Tango),I Heard a Rumour, Venus and Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye (Venus was def. 2nd last and Na Na was def last). Nathan and Really were def first 2.

by Anonymousreply 2110/03/2012

No "Shy Boy", "Doctor Love", "The Wild Life" or "I Heard A Rumor"?

by Anonymousreply 2210/03/2012

And I think they may have sung a song from Viva! but don't hold me to it.

by Anonymousreply 2310/03/2012

They sang I heard a Rumour and the song I thought was from VIVA! was actually La La Love from their new EP, so my setlist is correct with the addition of La La Love.

by Anonymousreply 2410/03/2012

Thanks for the list NYC Boy! I'm jealous that you got to go.

How about the crowd? Was it all 40-year old (and up) gay guys?

by Anonymousreply 2510/03/2012

There were some women there, but yeah, the crowd was mostly 40-something gay men.

by Anonymousreply 2610/03/2012

OP is a 100 years old.

by Anonymousreply 2710/03/2012

Nice to see that the concert might be a success. It seems the girl spent to much time trying to make it again in England, where they are not welcome at all. Maybe this tour will convince them to spend more time outside of the UK and release stuff around the world but England.

by Anonymousreply 2810/03/2012

Is Keren still with Andrew Ridgely?

by Anonymousreply 2910/03/2012

They never could sing, they always sounded amateurish, but I did like "Cruel" and "I Heard a Rumour" but I would never see them live.

by Anonymousreply 3010/03/2012

200 people? Did they have a band?

by Anonymousreply 3110/03/2012

Shame they will be in Los Angeles on Oct 11th. That's the same night Madonna will be in concert. All of West Hollywood will be at the Staples Center.

by Anonymousreply 3210/03/2012

They had a backing band and 2 dancers.

by Anonymousreply 3310/03/2012

I always liked the gay cop from the Cruel Summer video.

by Anonymousreply 3410/03/2012

Keren was stunning. One of the most gorgeous singers of the 80's.

By the way, "Trick Of The Night" and "The Wild Life" were the best singles. They missed the US top 40 and weren't played much, but they both contain a dark dreaminess that isn't really found outside of obscure EDM today.

by Anonymousreply 3510/03/2012

Lanananeeneenoonoo was pretty much right on about the vocals and everything.

by Anonymousreply 3610/03/2012

The girls being interviewed by Sue Simmons in 1984.

by Anonymousreply 3710/03/2012

I saw (and met) them in like 1986 or so...

They are FUN!

by Anonymousreply 3810/03/2012

That attached is a good history of the group.

I think it's interesting about Siobhan that she expresses how she initially pushed to work with Pete Waterman because she loved the HiNRG sound that PWL gave to You Spin Me Round. In fact she says she wasn't happy with the first mix PWL gave to Venus because it didn't have enough of what became the Hit Factory sound.

But then after welcoming SAW into their world, the girls ultimately became upset that the producers tried to wield too much influence over the sound of the band. All of the girls butted heads with Waterman, but Siobhan really let it create a wedge and eventually used it to bolt the group, or so it seems. She also speaks about how she felt alienated by the tight friendship between Keren and Sarah, but that bond had always been there.

It's good to hear Jacquie's story on here too.

by Anonymousreply 3910/03/2012

r35 is correct. I believe this is their best song EVER!!!!!!!!!!!

by Anonymousreply 4010/03/2012

[quote]R35 is correct. I believe this is their best song EVER!!!!!!!!!!!

I mentioned it first.

by Anonymousreply 4110/03/2012

Sorry, r22 is CORRECT! :)

by Anonymousreply 4210/03/2012

Bananarama have never claimed to be great singers, but they are a lot of fun. Madonna and others cribbed some of their DIY style. They have also had the most charted hits for a female group (according to the Guinness Book of World Records). Love Keren and Sara.

by Anonymousreply 4310/03/2012

Do they ever let one girl sing solo? All of their songs are three-part harmonies.

by Anonymousreply 4410/03/2012

R44, their last album, Viva, they sing separately. Keren sings the first part of the opening verse and Sara sings the next part. In the second verse, Sara is first and Keren is second.

by Anonymousreply 4510/03/2012

Oh, ok. Cool.

by Anonymousreply 4610/03/2012

Kenneth Walsh (Kenneth in the 212) was at the NYC show.

by Anonymousreply 4710/04/2012

Bananarama as a true group ended when Siobhan left in 1988. Siobhan has been quoted as saying (more or less) that the group is and always will be three girls: Keren, Sarah and Siobhan. Keren can at least sing in tune but Sarah can't sing a lick. For what it's worth, Siobhan was always the vocal leader.

None of the girls need money. They were one of the few groups from the 80s that was smart enough to write or at least cowrite their songs that weren't cover versions. They've made a ton of money off Cruel Summer alone (which Siobhan wrote the lyrics for, by the way).

Sometimes in the early days they would sing live.

by Anonymousreply 4810/04/2012

they're not worthy of anything really, all you fangurls are gushing over nothing

by Anonymousreply 4910/04/2012

Their version of "Venus" is unlistenable, very amateurish and sounds like bad karaoke.

by Anonymousreply 5010/04/2012

"They ugly, they ugly, their mama's say they ugly!"

by Anonymousreply 5110/04/2012

Caught the Boston show last night. Sounds a lot like the NYC show - set list, crowd, etc. They obviously have fun on stage, and the crowd responds to it. Maybe 250 attending?

by Anonymousreply 5210/04/2012

[quote]Their version of "Venus" is unlistenable, very amateurish

Yeah, that's why it went to number one in a dozen countries around the world.

by Anonymousreply 5310/04/2012

No one ever went broke underestimating the public. Just because it went to no. 1 doesn't mean it's good. I'm saying the original by Shocking Blue is better sung, arranged and effective then the overly synthesized, dull vocals of B's version.

by Anonymousreply 5410/04/2012

woohoo! I'm actually in those pictures! Bottom right hand corner you can see the back of my head.

by Anonymousreply 5510/04/2012

Bananarama's version of "Venus" jumps out of the radio. Turn it up loud and sing along.

by Anonymousreply 5610/04/2012

Venus is great fun cover, They wanted the energy of "You Spin Me Round" and got it.

What's not to love about a song like that, hearing the opening and making a mad dash to the dance floor....

by Anonymousreply 5710/04/2012

Also love "I Want You Back" and "I Heard A Rumour". Karen and Sara made some of their best music after Siobhan left to find herself. Two best friends who are still making great music. They could teach some of these younger bitches a thing or two about being relatable.

by Anonymousreply 5810/04/2012

I just recently found out they did a cover of the Doobie's "Long Train Runnin"

by Anonymousreply 5910/04/2012

The back of your head is hot, NYC Boy (r55).

by Anonymousreply 6010/04/2012

I like their version of Andrea True's More More More.

by Anonymousreply 6110/04/2012

That's my partner (with the shaved head), there against his will, R60. I'm the one with the hair directly in front of him.

by Anonymousreply 6210/04/2012

Their best song is "Preacher Man." Plus the guy tied up in the chair in the video is HOT!!

by Anonymousreply 6310/05/2012

they stink on talent cokewhores

by Anonymousreply 6410/05/2012

by Anonymousreply 6510/06/2012

I want to hear from the WeHo boys that go to see the show. Hopefully somebody would be willing to share some pics too.

by Anonymousreply 6610/06/2012

No one will be there from Weho r66. Madonna is the same night. The boys will be there.

by Anonymousreply 6710/06/2012

Bananarama Wednesday

Madonna Thursday

by Anonymousreply 6810/06/2012

Never released as a single, but one of my favorites of their songs is "I Could Be Persuaded."

Someone made a kind of cool video using scenes from a Greta Garbo movie (? according to the youtube comments) that I don't know.

by Anonymousreply 6910/06/2012

Another good song not released as a single - so someone made a nice gay love video.

I remember borrowing from these lyrics (I think I gave appropriate credit) in a love letter I'd written to an old boyfriend.

"Once In A Lifetime"

by Anonymousreply 7010/06/2012

They play Thurs Oct 11th not Wed Oct 10th, r68

by Anonymousreply 7110/06/2012

How was Madonna, r68?

by Anonymousreply 7210/11/2012

Going to the Hollywood show tonight! Look for the "True Confessions" T-Shirt!!

by Anonymousreply 7310/11/2012

Tear it up, r73. Have a great night. Get your ass up on stage and dance if they start pulling boys up there.

Tell us all about it tomorrow.

by Anonymousreply 7410/11/2012

How was the LA show?

by Anonymousreply 7510/12/2012

No report from the WeHo boys?

by Anonymousreply 7610/14/2012

R76, that looked like fun and Sara and Keren look great.

by Anonymousreply 7710/14/2012

really have no desire to see three old chick sing in unison. Don't even think they are capable of doing a harmony.

by Anonymousreply 7810/14/2012

Just saw an HP commercial. They are using "Ain't What You Do, It's The Way That You Do It" in their new ad campaign.

And it's the original track with Fun Boy Three - not a new recording by someone else.

by Anonymousreply 7910/22/2012

Hey dumbass at R78--there's only two members in the group.

by Anonymousreply 8010/22/2012

Sarah teases on her twitter that the girls are recording songs for a new record.
