Are there any Duane Reedes on 10th or 11th? They need to develop the west side of Hell's Kitchen/Chelsea a bit more so we don't have to walk so far for these conveniences.
Why are there no Duane Reedes on 9th ave between 43rd and 14th?

What a fascinating topic of conversation.

Because Hell's Kitchen is overrun with whores.

What's a Duane Reede? Is that a Canadian thing?

If there is one thing this city is lacking, it's Duane Reades.

Duane Reede is like every four fucking blocks in the rest of GodDamned Manhattan, That's Why!

I (thank God) don't live on 11th, but that doesn't mean I'm above looking out for the residents of that area.

Isn't there one on 34th West of 8th?

Yes, Manhattan is OVERRUN with freakin' Duane Reedes. Just walk a little farther or grab a damned cab. Manhattan has no lack of Duane Reedes.

OP is right. But luckily there is a Duane Reade over on 23rd St. between 8th and 9th and a Rite Aid over on 22nd and 9th, just up from Billy's. You could say the same for a Chase Bank OP. I wish they would replace the Capital One on 23rd and 9th with a Chase. Whenever I am going out, I have to walk all the way over to 10th Ave, then walk back.
I love my neighborhood though. But I am terrified that I will soon be priced out.

OP you must be a fat pig walk a few extra blocks

Duane Reade is Walgreens.
According to their store locator there's one on 37th between 9th and 10th. Also on 23rd near 8th and 26th at 8th but you wanted 9th. Guess they don't want to get too close to the Hudson.

Is Duane Reede the guy who fucked Peter Styuyvessant(sp?)?
No one knows who they are. And no one cares.

FYI, The name Duane Reade comes from the the location of the original store on the corner of Duane and Reade in Tribeca

It's like 9West shoes which was originally 9 West 57th Street or Saks Fifth Ave., which is of course on 5th Ave. Are there any other stores who owe their name to their street address in NYC?

That was originally part of Rite Aid's territory and they had a "gentleman's agreement" not to cut into each other's territory. But now that is over and Duane never got around to building it.

There's also one on 16th and 8th ave as well as a CVS on 14th and 8th.

R11- I completely agree about wanting a Chase on 9th Ave. In fact that is the reason I want more Duane Reades- every one has a Chase ATM.
I know a bunch of you listed Duane Reades on 8th Ave, but I don't have to run over to another avenue just to pull money out of an ATM or buy a tube of toothpaste.

There is no corner of Duane and Reade in Tribeca or anywhere else, for that matter. They run parallel to each other.

Founded in 1960, the chain was started with three stores by Abraham, Eli, and Jack Cohen, with a warehouse located between Duane and Reade streets on Broadway in Lower Manhattan.
