Iyanla Vanzant's Cryptic twitter Jems

"Many today are collecting the paychecks that their grandmothers did not get. They did the work - we collect the pay. We owe them our gifts."

What does that even mean?

by Anonymousreply 2509/15/2014

Ones grandmother ought not work for material gain but out of respect for those who are not yet born but are to come her way after.

by Anonymousreply 109/09/2012

I hope Iyanla is off them foodstamps, gurl!

by Anonymousreply 209/09/2012

It means that the hard work the women did in the past for rights for women may not have paid off for them, but it is paying off for women generations later.

by Anonymousreply 309/09/2012

her new show starts next week!!!

by Anonymousreply 409/09/2012

Doesn't sound particularly cryptic, sounds exactly like what R4 posted.

by Anonymousreply 509/09/2012

Did someone say 'check'?

by Anonymousreply 609/09/2012

R3, hit the nail on the head. I would also add that we should show respect and honor those that paved the way for our success, is a part of her message.

by Anonymousreply 709/09/2012

You hear that, youngergays?

by Anonymousreply 809/09/2012

Re R3: she said exactly this to the big O on Super Soul Sunday today.

Maybe y'all don't get OWN on your cable systems?

by Anonymousreply 909/09/2012

I like how R3 put it better.

The cryptic shit makes it sound like people are smarter than everyone else and tah'ts why they spin it that way.

by Anonymousreply 1009/09/2012

truly outrageous

by Anonymousreply 1109/09/2012

I kinda want to marry r11

by Anonymousreply 1209/09/2012

I'm partial to her "Why in the blazin' bajeezus...?" gem from last week's "Iyanla: Fix My Life" episode.

by Anonymousreply 1309/25/2012

R11 and R12 made me LOL

by Anonymousreply 1409/25/2012

"apply for that Walmart greeter position ASAP"

by Anonymousreply 1509/27/2012

Iyanla is fixing lives on OWN right as I type this.

by Anonymousreply 1610/09/2012

Discover your Divine self, so that tomorrow you can show up in your true divine color.

Oh brother.

by Anonymousreply 1810/09/2012

I wish she'd fix my life.

by Anonymousreply 1910/10/2012

"Jems?"

by Anonymousreply 2010/10/2012

Truly cryptic.

by Anonymousreply 2110/11/2012

Truly, truly, truly so cryptic...

by Anonymousreply 2210/11/2012

I love her. She seems like a genuinely good and nice person. She has been through A LOT of shit in her life too. Except for her belief in god, I agree with her about everything else. I love watching "Iyanla Fix My Life". It's funny too with her methods of making people accept what they don't want to hear (the truth).

by Anonymousreply 2309/15/2014

I also wonder if she's making some kind of reference to the metaphor of the "check" in his "I Have a Dream" speech?

(Has anyone else wondered if MLK got his line "I have a dream" from "Gypsy"--"I had a dream"? Was MLK a closeted show queen?)

by Anonymousreply 2409/15/2014

damn @ this caption she wrote lol
