There wasn't a serial killer or single incident that made it "tinhat." So why is it, when you bring up a giant evil entity that spends tons of money every year to kill people and destroy countries, it's "crazy"?
How did talking about the CIA and "you're crazy" become synonymous?
|by Fucking Brilliant Idea||reply 38||01/29/2013|
bump, was there a watershed incident? I can't think of any.
|by Fucking Brilliant Idea||reply 1||09/02/2012|
OP, what the hell are you talking about? Your post is not clear.
Do you mean why do people label as tinhats those who talk about the CIA?
Or do you mean people think it's crazy that the CIA does all that secret spy shit?
|by Fucking Brilliant Idea||reply 2||09/02/2012|
R1, the watershed incident was the JKF assassination.
|by Fucking Brilliant Idea||reply 3||09/02/2012|
OP this tactic was common in the Soviet Union, too.
|by Fucking Brilliant Idea||reply 5||09/02/2012|
What do you mean, R5, like if you talked about the KGB, people branded you as loony?
|by Fucking Brilliant Idea||reply 7||09/03/2012|
There is no KGB r7. Never was.
|by Fucking Brilliant Idea||reply 8||09/03/2012|
I've noticed this too. Even talking about factual things, like literally historically factually events related to the CIA or similar organizations attempting to depose/assassinate people, will get others thinking you're crazy.
I was talking to a coworker the other day about the Iranian Revolution and Pinochet/the coup d'etat in Chile, and the American government's/CIA's involvement, and he literally looked at me like I was insane. He told me I was paranoid. He didn't believe me when I told him this was actual history.
Thank fuck I didn't bring up the Gulf of Tonkin incident. He probably would have run screaming in the other direction to tell my coworkers I was nuts.
I don't understand, not only are these things fact, but if our government (and all world governments tbh), have consistently spent the modern age doing these very kinds of things around the world, why the hell would you not believe they are not doing it somewhere this moment right now.
I don't get it.
|by Fucking Brilliant Idea||reply 9||09/03/2012|

Some of the allegations of the CIA masterminding events seems to presume superhuman competence. And the volume of acts attributed to it presumes there are no other services or forces at work in the world. Some of the allegations sound just as crazy as middle eastern allegations about human events being caused by Mossad social engineering.
Yes, the CIA is out there, working. But some of its failures are public knowledge (troop estimates for Korea, Soviets arriving in Afghanistan, the decay of the USSR, etc.) They're just people working in and for a bureaucracy with good funding. They fuck things up. They miss a lot of things.
Not all coincidences or trends are caused by secret government services. And those things that are caused by secret government services are not all caused by the CIA.

The CIA's official histories exaggerate its role. For example, in 1953 when the Prime Minister of Iran was taken down, there were 12 CIA people in the country. How many British were there? Several thousand. Who arranged for the elimination of the PM? The Brits! But they let the CIA claim credit and the USA has been paying for the inflated ego of the Roosevelt who was station chief ever since.

Yet people believe a flight school dropout could stunt fly a passenger jet five feet off the ground at 300 mph for thousands of feet without dumping it in order to strike the headquarters of the mightiest military command center in the world.
They think it's mere coincidence that the WTC went from public to private ownership just weeks before the Towers were blown to Kingdom Come, putting over six billion dollars into the hands of a developer who had put up a mere 200 million to acquire the asbestos-laden white elephants.

A great deal of what pilots train for is take-offs and landings. Since they planned to hijack planes after take-off and then crash the plane instead of landing it on a runway, he wouldn't have had to complete the course.

R13 is how talking about the CIA and "you're crazy" became synonymous.
|by Fucking Brilliant Idea||reply 15||09/03/2012|
When our government has been involved in so many nefarious plots over the last 200 years, it's hard for people to NOT see conspiracies.

Sluggish Schizophrenia is what the Soviets used to call it. And it fucking worked.
|by Fucking Brilliant Idea||reply 17||09/03/2012|
Sluggish Schizophrenia would be a great name for a band.
It would also describe the people who actually believe that voting changes anything.

1. dingbats cannot refrain from throwing JFK and 9/11 into every conversation about the CIA
2. Sources are never members of a disinterested foreign press that could offer coherent analysis from outside the crazy. Instead, sources are either news scrapers who somehow divine 'truth' from the constant newsfeed or former employees who are also selling books, seminars, and/or equipment
3. People who take time to read and critically analyze what's presented are called stupid sheeple. If you want to present a theory, don't tell your audience that they're dumb.
4. The CIA was designed as a 'wild card' which means that its trends are trendless and its objective is ever-changing. You won't find a pattern to its behavior without stretching reality to the breaking point.
5. You type and argue just like several late-stage alcoholics I know. You're nuts

It's been well-documented that the CIA was involved in the assassination of JFK. All you need to do is just read a few books on the subject and you cannot come to any other conclusion unless you are being willfully blind.
|by Fucking Brilliant Idea||reply 25||01/29/2013|
Most people here WORSHIP the government and when you say that it is evil they defend it.
It is sick.
DC is evil, and should be abolished and destroyed. All powers should be devolved back to the states.
|by Fucking Brilliant Idea||reply 26||01/29/2013|
But what surprises me, R26, is I thought most people of today's generation had grown up with Oliver Stone's JFK and had read all the well-researched books out there on the assassination. Not books by crazy people, but books by people like attorney Mark Lane (a friend of the Kennedys) who has worked on the case for nearly 50 years.
There are even former CIA agents who have ADMITTED that it was an inside job by people in the government who hated the threat to the establishment that JFK posed. Howard Hunt admitted it on his death bed, and many former colleagues of Oswald have said he was CIA, as was the Japanese naval base where he was stationed.
I'm also surprised that on a forum with predominantly gay men, most of whom are usually well-informed on many other issues, that there are so many who are completely unable to accept the truth about the assassinations of the 1960's.

This crap again? All it takes for you to pop up again is for some poster to point out that an allegation and explanation of government corruption is illogical or strains credulity. Pointing out the flaws in your arguments doesn't mean we worship the government; it means your arguments aren't very good.
|by Fucking Brilliant Idea||reply 28||01/29/2013|
[quote]Admitting that the US GOVERNMENT was actively involved in killing JFK would destroy the Church of Government that exists here.
It would finally free America and allow it to move forward. When is a President finally going to have the courage to speak out and tell the truth?
It is the 50th anniversary of JFK's death later this year - he deserves justice at this point for frigging sake!
(And so do RFK & MLK.)

You must be a white heterosexual man living in a blue state. States' rights, really?
Besides, why is state power automatically better than federal government power? You think Kasich, Scott, Jindal, and Brewer are less evil/dangerous to their citizens than Barack Obama? You think the same forces that corrupt the federal government don't operate at the state level?
|by Fucking Brilliant Idea||reply 31||01/29/2013|
No, R31, but with 50 states individually controlled people would be free to move from socialist states to free states.
|by Fucking Brilliant Idea||reply 32||01/29/2013|
Good Americans and good illegals never ever talk about the CIA.
Never ever ever.
|by Fucking Brilliant Idea||reply 33||01/29/2013|
It's not crazy to talk intelligently and persuasively about the evils of the CIA.
That doesn't mean, however, that a great many conspiracy theories re: the CIA are not just plain nuts.
|by Fucking Brilliant Idea||reply 34||01/29/2013|
Sorry it was the military, not the CIA, that did Kennedy.
The CIA has done lots of evil, of course. But the military intelligence bureaucracy has always been larger.
|by Fucking Brilliant Idea||reply 35||01/29/2013|
throw in alien encounters, too.
even presented with DOCUMENTED proof now released by the British and US gov'ts not to mention EYE WITNESS accounts from RESPECTED MILITARY PROFESSIONALS and airline pilots...people still think it's crazy to suggest other worldly objects exist in our dimension.

Pretty much the same reason Scientology made mockery of alternative medicine.
Since they have their own agenda & don't practice at all the way real alternative practitioners do, they made the whole thing look like garbage.
In fact, them & Tom Cruise was the best thing to happen to super conservative defenders of traditional medicine.
Likewise with the rise of the Illuminati donkeys, who are generally dumb people, with a limited global understanding had THEIR own agenda. So people just waved away things that had previously regarded as suspect as tin foil conspiracy.
The internet is partly to blame along with the rise of agenda based groups designed to appeal to people with low IQs. So shit just flies beneath the radar.
