Teen Wolf Season Too, too

Can someone post a screen cap of Jackson's nude transformation?

by Anonymousreply 108/14/2012

Here you go, R1

Jackson's transformation

by Anonymousreply 308/14/2012

Jeff Davis said he'll give us hints/introduce potential love interest for Derek and Stiles and we might see them more in s3

Derek-Stiles guidance counselor Ms. Morrell

by Anonymousreply 408/14/2012

I have this feeling that at least with me the honeymoon is over when it comes to this show and I start seeing cracks while having the urge to roll my eyes whenever Jeff Davis gives further hints. Danny's getting a boyfriend is all I want to mention in that regard.

Of course as of this moment I am still very greatful for the show to introduce Dylan O'Brian and giving Colton Haynes something to do.

by Anonymousreply 508/14/2012

I'm a bit confused as to why Jeff Davis brought up new love interests this season, (not just Stiles and Derek, but Danny having a boyfriend as well) because it just didn't happen. Stiles continued his fixation with Lydia, and while you could say there were hints of his relationship "maturing" and him letting go of his crush a bit, by his own words he's still fixated on her (even if that dialogue about the "15-year plan" was meant to be a subtle admission of giving up to Jackson). Derek - there was really nothing at all.

Erica seems to have run off with Boyd - I thought it was weird Derek didn't seem concerned about them, but thinking about it he had no idea they'd been captured by Gerard - he thought they'd run off. There's still the possibility of Erica coming back with the new pack and flirting with Stiles... but really everything's up in the air at this point (including Stiles & Lydia, even Stiles & Derek, or Stiles & no one at all). Don't expect to see much of Boyd since his actor's on Once Upon a Time on ABC.

The funny thing about Dr. Deaton and Ms. Morell - does EVERYONE have to dress up in black leather? Isn't there a shortage of leather jackets in Beacon Hills between Derek and his betas, Allison and her dad, and anyone else who wants to look badass?

by Anonymousreply 608/14/2012

Thanks, R2. I wish MTV had the balls to show some ass.

by Anonymousreply 708/14/2012

The Jackson transformation was the highlight of the finale.

by Anonymousreply 808/14/2012

For me too, R8. It was shot very tastefully...although more nudity is always welcome!

by Anonymousreply 908/14/2012

R591 (from the last thread). " death" is something Stiles said to Jackson in the police van. Stiles was trying to tell Jackson that he (Jacks) was the Kanima and as the Kanima he was killing death. That entire scene cracked me up. I like to use that phrase every chance I get.

by Anonymousreply 1008/14/2012

Thanks R2 and R3

I loved all the nipple porn Colton gave has provided us these last two seasons, hopefully he'll give us more next season. His nipples need a SAG card and a fanclub.

Imagine how much better this show would be on Stars or Encore. We'd for sure get ass shots and maybe a cock shot or two. Colton doesn't have a problem with nudity.

by Anonymousreply 1108/14/2012

The trasnformation was way too CGI, boo!

To the guy asking about the mountain ash. That was refered in episode 3 or 4, the gay club scene.

I dont quite remember but I think it prevented people from transforming.

With the grandpa I think we might have another Kanima on the case. That same stuff that came out of him happened to Jackson. Jackson thought he was imune but he became the Kanima. The grandpa didnt become a wolf then, has reason for revenge, that has Kanima all over it.

by Anonymousreply 1208/14/2012

R6 So....there's gonna be a whole pack of Alphas wearing leather jackets next season, lol! Come to think of it we should've known Matt was the Kanima master since he wore a leather jacket.

by Anonymousreply 1308/14/2012

[quote]His nipples need a SAG card and a fanclub.

So very true. At least a twitter and a tumblr.

by Anonymousreply 1408/14/2012

I need to open a Wilsons Leather franchise in Beacon Hills.

I wonder if Jackson's blue eyes mean something special.

by Anonymousreply 1508/14/2012

R15, pretty sure the blue eyes are supposed to represent some distinction.

Derek originally had blue eyes when he wolfed out, but those changed to red when he became an alpha. (Peter, when he was an alpha, also had red eyes). So red eyes = alpha status.

All of Derek's current betas (Isaac, Boyd and Erica) and Scott (who I guess is an omega) have orange / yellow eyes when they turn. They all became werewolves through a bite.

So Jackson is supposed to have some sort of similar status to Derek last season? The theory is that blue eyes are for werewolf betas who were born that way (so Jackson was either "reborn" as a werewolf, or there'll be some mystery surrounding his parentage). I wouldn't be surprised if the show explored his parentage a bit more and tried to create a storyline out of that.

by Anonymousreply 1608/14/2012

And haha, Jeff Davis comments a bit on "Sterek" (he notes that the entire season was written before he became aware of its fan following), and the original take on the Stiles-Derek paralysis scene:

"They would've gone bonkers for the scene that I had originally planned," Davis laughs. "You can print this. The idea was Stiles paralyzed on top of Derek, and Stiles says to Derek, 'Wait a minute! I can still move my tongue.' So the scene would have been Stiles pushing his tongue against Derek's face, trying to get himself off using just his tongue."

. . .

"Eventually, the tongue ends up in Derek's ear, and Derek's saying, 'Stop. Just stop. Just stop,'" Davis tells us. "Dylan loved that idea when I pitched it to him."

Ultimately, the scene was cut for two reasons -- one, there wasn't enough time to fit it into the episode. And two, it wasn't a good fit tonally. "I felt like it would be just a little too silly in the midst of this otherwise very traumatic, drama-heavy episode," Davis says.

by Anonymousreply 1708/14/2012

And I'm sorry to keep posting, but this take on "sassy" Peter from the finale is hilarious. I mean, after all, he did dole out fashion advice to Allison before her prom on which dress would go with her skin tone (and she actually followed his advice):

by Anonymousreply 1808/14/2012

And... last post for a while. In a spoilery interview, Jeff Davis confirms a bunch of things people have been theorizing about:

1. Erica was originally intended to be a love interest for Stiles, but going off actor chemistry the writers "course-corrected" and decided to have more Stiles / Lydia moments instead, and have Erica holding hands with Boyd.

2. Season 3 will explain why Jackson was coming out of the water at the beginning of season 2, and "the mystery of who Jackson's real parents are will be part of the Alpha pack story."

by Anonymousreply 1908/14/2012

R19 I figured the writers changed their minds, too bad. Dylan (Stiles) actually had more on screen chemistry with Gage (Erica). I don't know how well they meshed off screen.

Thanks for the scoop on Jackson. I was wondering about all that and I was disappointed because it seemed like the writers forgot.

by Anonymousreply 2008/14/2012

It was funny that Jeff thinks it looked right to have Lydia there cheering for Stiles, to me that completely came out of nowhere.

So Stiles and Lydia is still the plan then? Honestly he probably would be better off having Stiles explore his sexuality than another season of him pining over Lydia.

Good to see there is more plans for Isaac and Scott, those two really did pop in scenes together and you know Dylan will do a great job playing jealous.

by Anonymousreply 2108/14/2012

I really, really, really want Isaac and Danny to get together. I really, really do.

by Anonymousreply 2208/14/2012

R16,17,18,19. Keep the comments coming! Very interesting info, specially the whole sterek thing Davis said. I'm not a fan of this couple but that would have been fun to watch.

And R22, I feel the same way. I really want Danny to have a boyfriend and for his character to grow ....and Isaac is just so cute and sweet. Amazing couple.

by Anonymousreply 2308/14/2012

[quote]The funny thing about Dr. Deaton and Ms. Morell - does EVERYONE have to dress up in black leather? Isn't there a shortage of leather jackets in Beacon Hills

Honey, we're talking about a small California town that manages to have a gay club rivaling New York's finest and drag queens good enough to make it onto RuPaul's show. A few leather jackets pales in comparison.

by Anonymousreply 2408/14/2012

Jason Bateman was much hotter than Michael J Fox

by Anonymousreply 2508/14/2012

r24,So glad the show is created by a gay man.

by Anonymousreply 2608/15/2012

I can't wait for the Teen Wolf spin-off called: "Jackson, If You're Nasty". With Jackson and Stiles traveling through the country and solve all sorts of dire situations.

Stiles: Jackson, we've got to save this town!

Jackson: Why? It doesn't even have a Macy's store!

Stiles: Jackson, Timmy fell down the well! We've got so save him!

Jackson: Do I look like Lassie? No, seriously: Do I look like Lassie when I change? If that's the case that would be so gay!

by Anonymousreply 2708/15/2012

R27 You cannot stop there! That cracked me up, hahaha!

by Anonymousreply 2808/15/2012

Speaking of Rupaul (R24), anyone else noticed one of the drag queens was Phoenix?

by Anonymousreply 2908/16/2012

Wetpaint Entertainment: Are Scott and Allison going to make it?

Tyler Posey: Love conquers all, right? But who knows, if there’s a Season 3, I don’t know. I don’t know what’s going to happen. I want to be with Colton. I hope Scott and Jackson finally get together. I think that’s a possibility. You know the butting heads? I think it’s really flirting — sexual tension

by Anonymousreply 3008/16/2012

R30, Tyler Posey likes to bring up male-male "shipping" - even though he's presumably straight, he seems to get a kick out of it (and is perhaps a little jealous of all the attention that "Sterek" has been getting, and maybe isn't above putting himself out there to get some fan attention for himself).

He was interviewed along with Colton Haynes about their fan-created "son", "Carlos Colton Posey", and they both thought it was hilarious. When asked about the newly forming bond with Isaac this season, he said Isaac would of course be drawn to Scott McCall because "Scott is gorgeous".

It's great that he seems so easy-going and cool about being "shipped" with other guys both in real life and for his character - some male actors get uptight about it, but he seems to understand it for what it is (fan appreciation and fantasy) and to take everything in stride.

by Anonymousreply 3108/17/2012

I thought the finale made it clear that Jackson/Lydia is the endgame couple. Lydia doesn't love Stiles and never will, and the writing of the last 2 episodes seemed to take pains to make Stiles verbally acknowledge that he can't foist his feelings onto anyone.

Dylan O'Brien himself has said that he doesn't want Stiles to "ever kiss a girl" (verbatim quote) and that he doesn't play it as though Stiles is in love with Lydia, but as though he objectifies her and doesn't really acknowledge that she's a real person with feelings. This is one of Stiles' biggest flaws IMHO, but I think they're leaving plenty of space for Stiles to go in other directions.

I'm a lesbian and I love that kid. He plays it a little too broad sometimes, and most of the rest of the cast is very solid, but DO'B a revelation on this show.

by Anonymousreply 3208/17/2012

Yeah, R32, I've read some commentary about being uncomfortable with Stiles continuing to pursue Lydia because it resembles "Nice Guy" syndrome - even after the girl's made clear she's interested in someone else (like, she's declared her love for her recently dead and revived boyfriend right in front of him), the guy continues to passively-aggressively hang around and pursue her, wondering why she doesn't appreciate him and thinking if he's persistent she'll realize "Oh, I DO love you!", when in fact he's being entitled and selfish.

I mean, in romantic comedies guys continuing to pursue girls this way is supposed to be "cute", but in real life you think "stalker, I told you no already, and you need to respect that instead of thinking your attraction is somehow more important than my feelings." Like, if someone you weren't dating bought you an HDTV and a lot of gifts because he couldn't figure out what to get you, some people might appreciate the crass materialism of it, but I'd probably be a little freaked out about how obsessive he was... Stiles devolved a bit into Matt territory there (with Matt taking all those photos of Allison), which is funny because he called Matt crazy the previous episode for his behavior.

In general, if Stiles truly "loved" (or at least respected) Lydia, he'd want her to be happy with the person she's chosen, rather than making everything about him and his (immature) emotions which he's failed to act. I get how there are still romantic aspects to a crush, and some people want to see fantasy and wish fulfillment where unrequited love is concerned, but yeah, I'm hoping Stiles reaches a turning point soon on his feelings, because there are other interesting directions for his character to go than to focus on him being a perpetual bitter loser with a crush, and having a storyline of him finally "getting the girl" doesn't seem as compelling.

by Anonymousreply 3308/17/2012

r32,Jeff wanted Stiles/Lydia to just be friends but the strong response he got from twitter during the finale, the media asking questions about them and not to mentioned trending worldwide might have change his mind on the potential couple.

by Anonymousreply 3408/17/2012

Though R34, you could say the same thing about Stiles and Derek - the media attention (even an article about it), the trending on twitter (when episode 10 and the paralysis scene aired), the barrage from fans, etc.

Honestly, for any shipping "pairing", in the end he's entitled to write the story his way and what makes sense for the characters he's envisioned, not give into fan demands - the fan response is just a gauge of how interseted the audience might be. But yeah, I'm hoping for Stiles he has him grow up a bit in Season 3, because "boy obsesses over girl, boy stays immature, boy somehow gets girl anyway" doesn't seem like a good story to me - if there is some involvement between Stiles and Lydia, it'll hopefully be because his character grows up a bit.

by Anonymousreply 3508/17/2012

I agree with R31, I like how easy going Tyler Posey is about shipping. And I like how flirty he is with Colton. It shows that he is a guy who is comfortable with his sexuality and doesn't mind teasing the fans.

by Anonymousreply 3608/17/2012

A somewhat lengthy but fair overview of the "Sterek" phenomenon from E!Online, and an interview with Jeff Davis on the subject about his learning about "shipping", chemistry between actors influencing storytelling, and the dangers of giving fans what they want right away vs. entertaining them with the "wait" and "anxiety" of it.

"I'll admit this is a bit out of reach of my understanding, even as a gay man. I'm also not sure they may see the characters as perfectly 'straight,'" he explains. "We've certainly made some hints to the possibility of Stiles being bisexual. As to the psychology of why 'girls like boys who like boys,' I haven't asked enough questions or heard enough to really understand the psychology behind it. I know of certain relationships such Holmes and Watson that might have a kernel of truth to them within the actual writing, but then others I'm less sure about. Like what's called 'Wincest,' a romantic relationship between the Winchester brothers on Supernatural."

"I always believe my first job is to entertain. If I've entertained people I know that I'm doing something right. And you can only give a fan so much of what they actually want. There is a great quotation about writing from Wilkie Collins: "Make 'em cry, make 'em laugh, make 'em wait—exactly in that order.'" he says. "You have to give an audience a certain level of anxiety. One of the oddest network notes I've ever gotten was, ‘Can she be happy?' I thought to myself ‘If the character is happy, then the story is over. There's no conflict!' Do fans actually want their wishes fulfilled? Or is the anticipation actually more interesting and even more fun? Here's one thing I will always keep in mind as both a fan and writer of TV: When Maddie and David finally did get together in Moonlighting... the show was over."

by Anonymousreply 3708/17/2012

Of course, the main takeaway some people have taken from the article above is this line:

"We've certainly made some hints to the possibility of Stiles being bisexual."

by Anonymousreply 3808/17/2012

So, we have to wait till next year for Season 3? Don't the producers know anything about the Mayan calendar?

by Anonymousreply 3908/17/2012

I thought maybe Daniel (who plays Isaac) was gay but it looks like he is dating Crystal Reed (Allison)....weird!

by Anonymousreply 4009/01/2012

Did this show recreate the scene where best friend Stiles suspects Scott is a "fag", and Scott says "No I'm not a fag, I'm a werewolf." Which Stiles finds reassuring, after all at least he's not the worst thing imaginable, gay!

by Anonymousreply 4109/01/2012

Has anyone seen this?

by Anonymousreply 4209/07/2012

Actor John Barrowman mentioned Sterek shippers on tv. Kinda feel bad for those fans because Jeff is trying his best to sink their ship by getting Derek a love interest next season. Here's the video of the Sterek shout out:

by Anonymousreply 4309/07/2012

r42, I hadn't seen that video before. I'm impressed with it. It's got really good scene selection and edits. It deserves more views that it has.

by Anonymousreply 4409/07/2012

I can't wait for the show to come back.

Such a great finale.

My guess is that Grandpa will be a Kanima.

by Anonymousreply 4509/08/2012

The serious boys of Teen Wolf 2, minus Tyler H:

by Anonymousreply 4609/13/2012

I've watched a lot of the episodes on this show and I still haven't seen this supposed chemisry/ slashyness with Sterek. Jackson and Derek have that hate thing going, Stiles is cute and all but while I see homoeroticism with the actual actors being playful about the ship, I've noticed nothing with the two characters. I've even watched the pool episode a couple of times and the one where Derek got shot with a silver bullet. Zilch. Nada.

Which are the particular episodes to look for b/c at this point it just seems like the Sterek thing is just silliness b/c the actors are cute.

Jeff Davis is so obviously fucking with the little girls heads. He has no intention of hooking up Derek and Stiles or making Stiles bi. He's only teasing like every other showrunner who gives false hope to the slash fans.

by Anonymousreply 4709/13/2012

Well, you're either blind, or you've managed to just cherry pick around the episodes of their obvious chemistry.

by Anonymousreply 4809/14/2012

Stephen Lunsford posted this incredible enlightened reply to a fan question about his sexual orientation on his really nerdy tumbler account:

homoeroticismforthewin asked: "You post a lot of pretty people. Like, a LOT. So I'm just curious (and don't worry, I'll lust after you entirely in vain regardless), on a scale of Straight to Teen Wolf, what's your sexual orientation?"

Honestly, while I’m straight, I appreciate all humans and how gorgeous they can be. I’m not one of those guys that’s like, “Pfftttt, I’m not going to admit that dude’s pretty because people will think I’m gay!”

Rather, I appreciate beauty and “pretty” people no matter what gender.

Typical conversation with me:

GIRL: My god, I want to have Ryan Gosling’s babies.

ME: Who wouldn’t, he’s a fucking fox.

I’m not narrow minded when it comes to viewing people and their beauty, both externally and internally. I enjoy everyone and I encourage everyone else to do the same.

by Anonymousreply 4909/26/2012

Bit of a late bump on this, since it's more relevant to the show in general than Colton Haynes' (confirmed) departure. Some spoilers / points of interest re:Season 3, from the New York Comic-Con panel with Tyler Posey and Jeff Davis:

- Colton's departure confirmed, Jeff Davis will write his character out smoothly but leave it open in case he wants to come back down the line

- In Season 3, theme is Shakespearean quote about being born to greatness, achieving greatness, or having greatness thrust upon you - focus is on Scott having greatness thrust upon him and becoming an alpha. He works as more of a partner / brother to Derek.

- A bit of a "bromance" triangle between Scott, Stiles and Isaac

- Stiles and Scott have moved on from Lydia and Allison romantically at the beginning of the year; Stiles starts to see Lydia less as an idealized crush and grows and matures a bit to see her more as a person and platonic friend

- Also a theme of women coming into their power; some exploration of Lydia's immunity and why she's naturally drawn to the supernatural. Allison gets a redemption arc, and is trying to stay out of hunter business at the beginning of the season

- Deflected questions on Sterek and Stiles being bisexual; Jeff Davis doesn't want to be accused of "queer-baiting" and wants to have respectful / accurate depictions of sexuality that also fit in with the story he wants to tell. Doesn't really seem like it's something that'd be a focus or plot point of Season 3 (and even if it is, not something Jeff Davis would spoil in advance) though apparently there'll be a new gay / bi character (among the new alphas?)

- And more at link.

I'm actually excited about the direction of the season - the "pack of alphas" sounded a little stupid in the finale, but hopefully there'll be some interesting characters in there (e.g. they're still casting for a pair of hunky twins). And I'm glad Davis apparently has plans to grow Lydia as a character (since she was pretty much treated like shit by everyone this past season), and move Stiles beyond his immature crush and avoid a cliched "boy gets girl if he waits long enough" story.

by Anonymousreply 5010/14/2012

A lot of the answers are promising. It is past time for Scott to mature and not have his sole focus be so obsessively on Allison. Also Stiles stalker crush on Lydia was also played out, I think all fans will be happy to see him grow up a little on that front.

Interesting another gay character. I am assuming one of the alphas will be gay? Maybe have the female one be a tough lesbian chick?

Jeff Davis obviously never intended for Stiles/Derek to become a real romantic coupling. He has said many times he didn't even know it was such a fan obsession until the second season was airing. I could see him end up caving in the last season as fan service.

Not mentioned there, but he also confirmed there would be a lot of shirtless Derek this season. That was definitely missing last season, and almost insulting to Tyler Hoechlin as he got his body in insane shape for shooting and never really got to show it off.

by Anonymousreply 5110/14/2012

Still really upset about teh whole Colton leaving thing. Jackson seemed to critical, now that he's a werewolf... for him to just disappear will seem weird no matter how they write it.

by Anonymousreply 5210/14/2012

Yeah, R51, I don't even think the most obsessive Sterek fans think Jeff Davis somehow planned for Stiles and Derek to be a romantic couple from the beginning. More that the chemistry between the characters is a happy surprise, and that they're hoping he's open to letting their relationship progress rather than trying to shoehorn them into heterosexual relationships just because.

He and the writing staff do seem open to letting the chemistry of actors dictate the story and changing course - e.g. Stiles and Erica were intended to be a romantic couple before the writers decided they didn't quite have the necessary chemistry and Erica and Boyd fit better together.

Since he's also talked about not wanting to give the fans what they want right away (because then they have nothing to come back for), my guess is he'll play it smart and continue to let Stiles and Derek have fun interactions, probably keep both of them away from serious romantic relationships (or if either of them do have relationships, introduce hints of subtle jealousy between the characters), and not have them do anything overtly romantic such as kissing, etc. unless the story and characters seem to have progressed to that point (probably not this season). That way the Sterek fans are kept happy, any relationship progression doesn't seem like forced fanservice, and nervous MTV execs have more time to get used to the idea.

by Anonymousreply 5310/14/2012

Stiles is fug.

by Anonymousreply 5410/14/2012

Bite your tongue, R54!!

by Anonymousreply 5510/14/2012

Honestly, even without romance (which yeah, I don't think there is any chance of that happening at least in the next 12 episode arc) I am already worried about the Stiles/Derek interactions. Before they felt so naturally funny and entertaining, I am worried that one downside to the Sterek fans making it such a phenomenon is they will feel forced and that the writers (and possibly actors) are trying too hard.

Hopefully not, but definitely something I am worried about.

And Dylan O'Brien is damn cute R54, not to mention incredibly talented. Every guy doesn't have to be built like a Tyler Hoechlin to be attractive.

by Anonymousreply 5610/14/2012

R56, I'm also concerned about how the Stiles/Derek interaction will play out in season 3 now that Sterek has become the fandom and media phenomenon it has. I really hope the actors' natural chemistry and the characters' fun dynamic holds up despite all the attention the relationship is getting because it's one of my favourite things about the show.

And I agree that Dylan O'Brien is cute as hell. He's not your standard beefcake like Hoechlin but I'd do him in a heartbeat. His talent makes him even more appealing.

by Anonymousreply 5710/15/2012

I'm not too worried about the Stiles and Derek interactions becoming forced - I think Jeff Davis made pretty clear that he wants to tell an entertaining story first, and isn't going to let the story or the characters suffer just to put something in. Like, apparently the scene where Stiles ended up paralyzed on top of Derek was going to be more intimate (with Stiles licking into Derek's ear), but they decided to pull back because it was too silly for the episode - I think they try to exercise judgment about what works and what doesn't.

And yeah, Dylan O'Brien's grown on me. Even though he's reportedly not comfortable with being shirtless on the show, he actually does seem to be in good shape. There's a trailer out for his new movie, "The First Time" (at link), in which you catch a glimpse of him shirtless, and he's pretty solidly built. He also looks more handsome with longer hair, but apparently he thinks a buzz cut is a better fit for Stiles' character so he keeps his hair short when filming.

by Anonymousreply 5810/15/2012

FYI, the full NY Comic Con panel is now online, posted by the MTV Geek channel:

by Anonymousreply 5910/15/2012

This doesn't appear to ever have made it onto the DL, but it appears that the show has cast Charlie and Max Carver, who played the elder incarnations of the Scavo twins on Desperate Housewives, as twin members of the Alpha pack.

The twincest jokes are just going to write themselves, aren't they?

by Anonymousreply 6012/12/2012

They were cute enough on Desperate Housewives, but they'll need to buff up for this show. Tyler Hoechlin & Colton Haynes set the beefcake bar pretty high.

by Anonymousreply 6112/17/2012

MTV has some behind the scenes footage up of the first day of filming for Season 3, with Dylan O'Brien (with his new grown-out haircut), Tyler Posey, and Tyler Hoechlin, and also some footage of the new twin Alphas:

by Anonymousreply 6212/26/2012

Cute video, but the guys playing those twins look like they are...special. Though maybe their characters are total blockheads and if so that look will work well I guess.

by Anonymousreply 6312/26/2012

R63, I think one of the twins is supposed to be the "brains" of the pair, and the other the muscle... er, I agree right now they just both look like the latter (which I'm not complaining about).

by Anonymousreply 6412/26/2012

It appears that even with Jackson's absence, they're beefing up Danny's role next season, and giving him an onscreen boyfriend. I really hope it's Isaac, for some reason.

by Anonymousreply 6501/29/2013

Interesting, R65. Good to know!

(It's not going to be the same without Jackson)

by Anonymousreply 6601/29/2013

The Carver twins do not disappoint.

by Anonymousreply 6702/13/2013

Nice to see they will be bringing the beef cake though they definitely rock tard-face.

When is this show coming back? The summer sometime I assume?

by Anonymousreply 6802/13/2013

by Anonymousreply 7002/26/2013

[quote]When is this show coming back? The summer sometime I assume?

Just announced: June 3rd.

by Anonymousreply 7102/28/2013

VotN, thank you for the info. While it is still a long time to go until the new season starts the fan art on tumblr and the animated gifs make it bearable for me.

by Anonymousreply 7202/28/2013

So, it seems that Danny, lonely after being deserted by his best friend, tries to make connections with new people and ends up in bed with one of the twins.

by Anonymousreply 7304/19/2013

I hope you're not joking, R73.

(I'm going to miss Colton on this show... he was a significant part of it, and it kinda sucks the way he left)

by Anonymousreply 7404/19/2013

VoTN is right. Jeff Davis has mentioned that he included a sex scene between Danny and one of the Carver twins this season and he made it as racy as he thought he could get away with.

Speaking of the Charlie and Max Carver. I've heard from a source I trust that one is gay and one is straight but he couldn't remember which was which. Anyone one DL know anything about

by Anonymousreply 7504/19/2013

R69, where is that from? Who is that he's kissing?

A wank over race and romantic pairings, a showrunner flounce, and a Tumblr in shambles?

Just another week for Teen Wolf fandom!

Earlier this week, Gawker reported a fandom controversy surrounding the popular MTV show Teen Wolf, and accusations of racism on the part of creator Jeff Davis. But many fans feel the whole argument boils down to a ship war that’s been conflated into a social justice issue.

Although Tyler Posey, who plays main character, Scott, is Latino, the main cast boasts only two other non-white actors (Colton Haynes, who is half-Cherokee, and Hawaiian Keahu Kahuanui). After an interview with After Elton in which Davis describes his goal of having more “representations of real life,” fans began pointing out that the show has yet to represent the few minority characters it does have.

Davis wasn’t prepared for the overwhelming skepticism Teen Wolf fans directed at him and each other when he responded to accusations of sidelining race. In what proved to be his only post before deleting his Tumblr and fleeing, he explained the difficulties of developing the role of [a character of color] whose actor’s availability is unknown to him. He also went on to sidestep the responsibility of dealing with “issues,” claiming, “There are far better writers out there like Aaron Sorkin, Shonda Rhimes, David E. Kelley, far more equipped to tackle those subjects.”

Yesterday, Racialicious dissected the problems with Davis’ post and the show itself. Consensus on Oh No They Didn’t was that he needed to try harder, though some pointed out the issues with fans criticising the main character for not being Latino enough.

It’s a running joke in Teen Wolf fandom that no one really likes Scott, and that fans are watching for the comic stylings of Dylan O’Brien—who plays his best friend, Stiles—and the brooding muscled werewolf Derek. But once debate began to rage about representation, the joke stopped being funny.

“Fandom hates Scott for a bunch of dubious as fuck reasons and chooses to elevate his white best friend as the better option, the one most deserving of main character status, the one whose narrative must be elevated above his brown bff,” seethed someotherchick.

Teen Wolf fans are hugely invested in Sterek—that is, the development of a potential relationship between Derek and Stiles—but is it worth having queer representation if it also means glorifying white narratives?

The question is nothing new to slash fans, who have been grappling with the infamous accusation that “slash is the sound of white men fucking” for years. And not all Sterek fans defend Davis’ stance on racism. But numerous fans who spoke to the Daily Dot felt that some of the loudest voices in the debate were motivated more by anti-ship sentiments than a real concern for equality.

“Of all the shows I watch, Teen Wolf is not the one I'd choose to complain about when it comes issues of casting and character diversity,” Teen Wolf fan HelloTailor, who recently blogged about the show’s progressiveness, told the Daily Dot.

“Obviously it's not perfect, but Jeff Davis is the only American showrunner I can think of who explicitly states his desire to employ a diverse cast and include casual, non-stereotypical roles for LGBT characters.”

Davis is not the first to state a goal of trying to create a fictional utopia. But the stakes are higher when MTV embraces such a utopia as a way of finding its way back into the hearts of YouTube-loving teenagers. Where it leads, more studios could follow.

At least for some fans, Davis is already carrying out his vision. But, as many others point out, being gay-friendly doesn’t absolve the show of a responsibility to represent the world equally. As one fan put it,
