Sam Claflin Cast as Finnick in The Hunger Games Sequel 'Chasing Fire'

Wasn't my pick. Wasn't even on my radar, but I gotta admit that he looks the part!

Let the gay speculation begin!

by Anonymousreply 3403/24/2014

That should be 'Catching Fire'.

by Anonymousreply 108/04/2012

Gorgeous!

by Anonymousreply 208/04/2012

He's been invisible in his previous roles. Bland-looking and absolutely no charisma or star power. Horrible choice for the role.

by Anonymousreply 308/04/2012

IMDB lists him second in the film. Is his role really that big? I haven't read the book.

Otherwise, the cast looks great!

by Anonymousreply 408/04/2012

It's weird they didn't go with someone hot, or at least with a hot body considering how he's described in the book. Wasn't Alex Pettyfer up for this role? He should have gotten it just based on his hotness.

by Anonymousreply 512/12/2012

Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson starring in a movie called 'The Hunter Games'. Oh the irony.

by Anonymousreply 612/12/2012

Pear-shaped. Womanly hips. Hope the studio is getting him some lipo.

by Anonymousreply 712/12/2012

Oh dear. The irony, the irony! And to some degree the hunger, but mostly it's the irony!

by Anonymousreply 812/12/2012

"Poison" Pettyfer?

Nope.

by Anonymousreply 912/12/2012

I hope he presents his hole. Finnick did in the book.

by Anonymousreply 1012/12/2012

Agreed R5. I don't see Sam Clafin as the guy so sexually appealing he has everyone in the Capital lining up for a night with him. Weird casting choice.

by Anonymousreply 1112/12/2012

Is this him?

by Anonymousreply 1212/16/2012

I've never read or seen THE HUNGER GAMES, but when someone told me the basic plot about a year ago, I was appalled that any book, movie, etc. about children battling and killing other children would be considered "entertainment" by anyone.

I'm wondering if the Newtown murders will cause a lot more people to share my astonishment and turn away from the movie sequel.

by Anonymousreply 1312/16/2012

On the contrary, the Newton murders only clarify The Hunger Games' social commentary even more.

by Anonymousreply 1412/16/2012

r13 The Hunger Games takes place in a distant, post-apocalyptic future where the only government is a totalitarian dictatorship. It's not a contemporary story.

by Anonymousreply 1512/16/2012

Oh, I see. It's "social commentary." I'm sure that's why millions of people read the book ad flocked to see the movie -- NOT because they enjoyed the visceral thrill of watching kids fight and kill other kids.

by Anonymousreply 1612/16/2012

It's not just kids. They kill old people too.

by Anonymousreply 1712/16/2012

Rumor has it that he and Josh are a couple (sigh)!

by Anonymousreply 1812/16/2012

He's on the cover of EW and he looks ... creepy. Like James Holmes' mugshot.

by Anonymousreply 1901/10/2013

r13 is an idiot.

I'm still not happy with the casting, but I'll reserve judgement until I see what the guy can do. Finnick is arguably the most interesting character in the series, so I wish they wouldn't have gone with a newcomer just because he's cheap.

I would have liked to have seen Armie Hammer as Finnick.

by Anonymousreply 2001/10/2013

You don't really see kids killing and fighting kids that much in the film, and the books are from Katniss' perspective and told in such a horrifying way no one could think they glamorized violence. It's made very clear in both the books and movies that the Games are sick and appalling.

by Anonymousreply 2101/10/2013

Aaron-Taylor Johnson would have made a great Finnick. He's gorgeous, has a hot body and can act.

by Anonymousreply 2201/10/2013

The creepy thing from the books is Katniss acts borderline autistic and so detached from all the things that happen around her. For most of the books I had the feeling like she just doesn't care what is happening to her and her friends and who is using her for what.

by Anonymousreply 2301/10/2013

What does his ass look like?

by Anonymousreply 2401/10/2013

You are comparing your own emotions to a character who is a survivalist used to doing nothing but fighting to provide for the family. I am not even a big fan of the books but it always seem silly when someone tries to use their own emotional response on a character who has a real reason to reaction to situations quite differently.

Yeah, he still doesn't seem like Finnick to me. Oh well, hopefully he can act.

by Anonymousreply 2501/10/2013

Kellan Lutz would have been perfect as Finnick.

by Anonymousreply 2601/10/2013

"Kellan Lutz would have been perfect as Finnick."

In what ways? Can he even act to the level necessary however low that may be?

by Anonymousreply 2701/10/2013

Did Hunger Games get any Academy Awards nominations? It pretty much swept the Peoples Choice awards.

by Anonymousreply 2801/10/2013

Jesse Williams would have been good. I would have also taken Aaron Johnson. Maybe even Garrett Hedlund. Not this guy with his giant hips.

by Anonymousreply 2901/10/2013

The caption says he's dreamy. So there's obviously something wrong with his critics.

by Anonymousreply 3001/10/2013

How does he look as Finnick?

by Anonymousreply 3111/24/2013

Hot -

by Anonymousreply 3212/19/2013

They made him him look as could as Clafin could look R31 (seriously, in real life like at the premiere he looks worse when dressing and styling himself), but he still wasn't Finnick. He did a perfectly fine job but he just wasn't the actor who would nail the character from the book.

by Anonymousreply 3312/19/2013

he's married!
