What thread died that you wish had continued (but you didn't just want to be talking to yourself)?

You thought you were clever and came up with an interesting topic and it dies. Or you're a latecomer to a thread, make a comment and it's already talked out.

Time for thread CPR...

include links if you want

I had one thread that so perfectly explored the issue of the day that it never got any replies, because I had said everything that needed or could be said, yet I know that anyone who read it during its brief moment in the sun, left datalounge a better person. Only now I can't recall the topic.

by Anonymousreply 107/10/2012

Sorry. This link is better.

by Anonymousreply 207/10/2012

I am NOT the OP, but the Jennifer Aniston thread brought me so much joy. It didn't have to die. I want it back.

by Anonymousreply 307/10/2012

1) The thread asking, "Has anyone on DL ever worked in porn?"

2) The What Ever Happened To thread about former Playgirl models/Centerfolds. I wanted to know more about Frank Kennedy (March 91-I think), Marty Wolfson (early 70's), Steve Bond (who ended up on General Hospital) and Bill Cable.

3) I think there was one of those great Behind-The-Scenes gossip threads about "Grace Under Fire" (and Brett Butler), "Knots Landing," and current news about "General Hospital"

by Anonymousreply 407/10/2012

I think there was a thread about the MaloCult. The Bizzaro soap freak website. What was up with that.

by Anonymousreply 507/10/2012

Me too! great thread. I also liked the soap threads even if most of them got zapped. I did start a soap thread with Marty Saybrooke (Susan Haskell) in the title that actually made it to 600 I believe.

"Do you believe in linear time and object permanence?" was fun in a kind of whacked way.

It was years old and has been deleted, but I just Googled and found two cool blog posts by some awesome DLer that document the thread and include several quoted posts. I'll link to the first; the link to the follow-up post is at the end of the comments section.

by Anonymousreply 707/10/2012

Six or seven "Murder She Wrote" threads have died in the past two years. If they had been combined, it could be a good thread.

by Anonymousreply 807/10/2012

This one.

by Anonymousreply 907/10/2012

Ginny from Billing should have never been killed off.

by Anonymousreply 1007/10/2012

W&Wed R10, hee!

by Anonymousreply 1107/10/2012

And F&F for R7 for endless posting of soap threads. Editor, please block, ban and redtag!

by Anonymousreply 1207/10/2012

The "Guys Presenting Their Dicks" threads.

They were all closed and deleted.

Best. Threads. Ever.

by Anonymousreply 1307/10/2012

I think this video is brilliant so I've bumped this thread more than once. It's usually bypassed, however. It's a foursome of elderly superheroes as the THE GOLDEN GIRLS.

by Anonymousreply 1407/10/2012

LOVES that R15, I wish they's do regular episodes.

by Anonymousreply 1507/10/2012

[quote]They were all closed and deleted.

Gee, I wonder why, trollerina...

by Anonymousreply 1607/10/2012

(rolling eyes at R17)

by Anonymousreply 1707/10/2012

How do I find older threads on DL? Please make it as simple as possible, as I'm technically challenged. Thanks.

by Anonymousreply 1807/11/2012

1. Go to Google

2. Type datalounge

3. In the same box, type a word for a topic you may be seeking: Cooper or Speedo or Garland or Travolta or Obama or whatever topic you are seeking.

by Anonymousreply 1907/11/2012

Thanks so much for that link R8. That was a great thread and the blogger posted it into two parts. Wonderful find!!!

by Anonymousreply 2007/11/2012

R19 - the best way is to go to google and type in ciaran (as an example - please don't bother to search me) This should bring up only datalounge threads

by Anonymousreply 2107/11/2012

I'm still wondering if we figured out why Milo Ventimiglia had weird, sunken nipples.

by Anonymousreply 2207/11/2012

I miss the thread about me. It didn't get much play at all. Not too surprising though, I was hardly known even when I wasn't washed up.

by Anonymousreply 2307/11/2012

Speaking of R24- the "Donna Mills from Knots Landing Here" thread which turned into wild stories of the backstabbing, gossip, cruelty and all-out bitchery ...

of the Lorimar commissary in the late 70s into the 80s. Knots, Eight is Enough, Dallas, Falcon Crest and The Waltons were all there.

by Anonymousreply 2407/11/2012

Relationship Haiku

by Anonymousreply 2507/11/2012

I would love to read the "Donna Mills from Knots Landing Here" thread that R25 mentioned. Please somebody post a link or bump it back up.

I think there's something in The Datalounge Rules of COnduct that says links to pron istes will be deleted.

I don't have any problem with them, but I wonder if they're started by people who are just not internet savvy. Hint: just go to Google, remove search restrictions and do provocative word searches like "soldiers swimming" or "nude volleyball".

You don't need us to get your jollies.

by Anonymousreply 2803/15/2013

I started a thread entitled "What if Meryl Streep and Lucille Ball had traded parts in "Stone Pillow" and "Sophie's Choice?" The post got 4 responses, three of which were obscene.

by Anonymousreply 2903/15/2013

[quote]I had one thread that so perfectly explored the issue of the day that it never got any replies, because I had said everything that needed or could be said,

That's the #1 reason for never putting everything in the opening. Leave some for the R-1 and some more for further down in the thread in order to keep it moving.

Murderous Fattie on the lam thread

My own, I am fascinated by spurned lovers who get revenge through murder. This story had it all, rich well respected man drops older lover, cutting him out of everything. Fattie lover kills him upon his engagement to a much younger man. Manhum ensues, then fattie is arrested outside an Arby's drive thru.

Fattie is now in jail awaiting trial. I shall bump the thread once the trial commences.

by Anonymousreply 3101/17/2015

The one about, 'Science Divas' - I was sincerely hoping for some good dirt.

by Anonymousreply 3201/17/2015

The one about the video where the walrus sucks his own dick.

No really! Google it!

by Anonymousreply 3301/17/2015

Danny/Denny wandering around NY, dragging his rollerwheel suitcase, looking for tricks/lodging while on vacation from the Best Buy.

by Anonymousreply 3401/17/2015

I wish all the Dyatlov Pass Incident threads had not been closed by the 3:00 p.m. glitch.

by Anonymousreply 3501/17/2015

[quote]Manhum ensues,

Manhum? Are you saying he gave the guy a hummer after he killed him?

by Anonymousreply 3601/17/2015

Any thread having to do with Ron Eldard! I've loved him for years. So what if he's gotten fat and unattractive and can't open a movie or have his own successful TV series to save his life-I still obsess about him and wonder what he does on his days/months off...I constantly watch his old me pathetic...

by Anonymousreply 3701/17/2015

Hahaha R36

My bad, meant manhunt of course

by Anonymousreply 3801/17/2015

The "Bread in the refridgerator" thread was comedy gold.

by Anonymousreply 3901/17/2015
