It has been on forever but I have never seen it. What is it about? Is it a military drama? Procedural crime drama? What?
|by Anonymous||reply 57||02/03/2015|
procedural crime drama with a military overlay - Sometimes a seaman is involved in a crime, sometimes there's fraud on the navy, sometimes a terrorism case involving the navy
I haven't seen it in years, so the nature could have changed. I haven't seen the California spinoff.
|by Anonymous||reply 1||06/21/2012|
Procedural crime drama featuring the Naval Criminal Investigative Service.
And don't forget the Marines, R2. They are under NCIS jurisdiction as well. Jethro Leroy Gibbs was a Marine, NOT a sailor.
|by Anonymous||reply 2||06/21/2012|
OOPS, I meant R1
|by Anonymous||reply 3||06/21/2012|
It's really an awful show.
|by Anonymous||reply 4||06/21/2012|
lot of homoeroticism between Gibbs (Mark Harmon) & DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly)
|by Anonymous||reply 5||06/21/2012|
It's actually a pretty good show, with a real sense of humor. The LA version isn't as well acted except by Linda Hunt, who is terrific and, unfortunately, leaving the cast next season. But it's fun, too.
They ate both better than that CSI crap.
|by Anonymous||reply 6||06/21/2012|
I don't much care for the spinoff, but NCIS itself is still enjoyable, and Pauley Perrette is great fun to watch.
|by Anonymous||reply 7||06/22/2012|
I love the show but it's been getting a little bit dull with the Tony and Ziva crap. Other than that, it is still watchable.
|by Anonymous||reply 8||06/22/2012|
Right wing propaganda dressed up as a procedural.
|by Anonymous||reply 9||06/22/2012|
R9 quoted for truth...
|by Anonymous||reply 10||06/22/2012|
The older episodes have Sasha Alexander from her per-Rizzoli & Isles days, which is fun to watch.
Otherwise, it's a pretty simple procedural.
|by Anonymous||reply 11||06/22/2012|
Love Pauley and David McCallum.
|by Anonymous||reply 12||06/22/2012|
Cote de Pablo does a great job playing Ziva.
|by Anonymous||reply 13||06/22/2012|
Every female guest story of a certain age has a backstory of fucking Mark Harmon's character, Jethro.
Jethro has a really ridiculous haircut and never changes his expression or tone of voice.
|by Anonymous||reply 14||06/22/2012|
I don't know but I didn't accept a roommate b/c she told me that when it was on she'd "Have to have the living room" and then went on to describe it in detail. She seemed weird.
|by Anonymous||reply 15||06/22/2012|
Love love love this show. Only started watching the reruns on USA network when I was recouperating from surgery. Now I never miss an epsiode.
Seeing David McCallum again is in and of itself wonderful. Mark Harmon has been around for a long time, but in this show, you just see the characters, not celebrities. Plus you never know when a lead character is going to get killed off and when. The last episode of the prime time season shows David McCallum having a heart attack and lying on the sand. Now we have to wait until lord only knows when to see what happens.
|by Anonymous||reply 16||06/22/2012|
I hated when they killed Sasha Alexander's character Kate Todd off the show. She was a favorite.
|by Anonymous||reply 17||06/22/2012|
[quote] I hated when they killed Sasha Alexander's character Kate Todd off the show. She was a favorite.
that was Sasha's doing. She wanted to get the fuck off that show and never come back
|by Anonymous||reply 18||06/22/2012|
NCIS was created by the same guy who gave us JAG and Magnum PI. I know he loves the Navy (and Marines) but the homoerotic stuff seems subconscious (to him), at least to me.
|by Anonymous||reply 19||06/22/2012|
[quote]Jethro has a really ridiculous haircut and never changes his expression or tone of voice.
That pretty much descibes Harmon's acting range.
|by Anonymous||reply 20||06/22/2012|
Great point, r18.
|by Anonymous||reply 21||06/23/2012|
Like many shows, although the actual show may be lame, there is some good slash out there, especially Gibbs/DiNozzo fic.
|by Anonymous||reply 22||06/23/2012|
This is the first season (2012-2013) that I hadn't been watching. I was sort of burned out on the Ziva and Tony stuff that it was sort of repetitive. Everything else was just meh.
|by Anonymous||reply 23||03/05/2013|
Yes, R23 . The showrunner's obsession with Cote de Pablo has killed the show's chemistry. She's become the new Gibbs, knows everything, does everything, etc. You would think *she's* the senior field agent/second in command, not diNozzo.
Tony and Abby have regressed to whiny, goofy toddlers. McGee is given nothing to do.
Thank God they resurrected McCallum's character this season. Ducky has a spark he hasn't had in years.
|by Anonymous||reply 24||03/05/2013|
"America, fuck yeah!" right wing propaganda with some seriously bad acting, masquerading as a procedural.
|by Anonymous||reply 25||03/05/2013|
Much as I love Pauley Perrette, boy that character is tired tired tired. Grow up a bit girl.
Had to stop watching last season. It was becoming impossible to distinguish one episode from another, much like CSI.
|by Anonymous||reply 26||03/05/2013|
My friends love it, Mark Harmon, and David "Illya" McCallum.
I tried it and found the writing level execrable.
|by Anonymous||reply 27||03/05/2013|
National security porn, badly written, with dull characters that never change.
|by Anonymous||reply 28||03/05/2013|
Just another CBS show that has been on for years I have never seen - like JAG CSI, CSI MIAMI, CSI NYC, NCIS, NCIS LA, HAWAII 5-0..........
|by Anonymous||reply 29||03/05/2013|
[quote]Linda Hunt, who is terrific and, unfortunately, leaving the cast next season.
Noooooooooo! I adore Linda Hunt! Why is she leaving?
|by Anonymous||reply 30||03/05/2013|
OK, I can't find a thing online about Linda Hunt leaving the show. There was some speculation last season after her character's resignation, but that all got wrapped up and she's back in her chair. Where does this new info come from?
|by Anonymous||reply 31||03/05/2013|
This seems to be very popular in the midwest, or at least IN. I hate how it reinforces difunctional family dynamics and inappropriate workplace behavior. I think there was an episode where they all had to take a class in sexual harassment or something like that. Of course it was treated with derision. (I did not see that episode, I saw a subsequent episode where the incident was referenced.)
|by Anonymous||reply 32||03/05/2013|
It is comfort TV. Lot of petty officers are murder victims. I did like the guest appearance a few years from Gena Rowlands playing the mother of the late wife of Mark Harmon's character. Effective work from a generally unique and gifted actress. I did like Jamie Lee Curtis last season as well.
"NCIS" is one of those shows where you don't give it any thought. That's not a problem if you feel there are more shows you have time to follow that have a tendency to be too involving.
|by Anonymous||reply 33||03/05/2013|
It's also a show where the writers and producers don't give it any thought.
|by Anonymous||reply 34||03/05/2013|
I used to think Sean Murray (McGee) was cute in a nerdy kinda way. :)
|by Anonymous||reply 35||03/05/2013|
The shows best years are definitely behind them.
DiNozzo and Abby are big, insufferable brats.
Hate Ziva and all her rabid followers. Tiva? Bitch, please. They have NO chemistry to be a romantic couple.
The Gibbs/DiNozzo chemistry was the best but they have killed it.
|by Anonymous||reply 36||03/05/2013|
Jimmy Palmer should have been gay. The show has generally been gay positive when there's a gay character on, though it's rare occurrence.
|by Anonymous||reply 37||03/05/2013|
I did like last weeks episode which featured Palmer and Ducky.
They have good chemistry and any minute Ziva is not on my screen is a good one.
|by Anonymous||reply 38||03/05/2013|
links to Gibbs/DeNozzo slash would be appreciated
|by Anonymous||reply 39||03/05/2013|
The show has a gay storyline every couple of years, and it's always positive.
Weird about Sean Murray - he went and lost all that weight, to the point some people thought he looked too thin, and this season he's put it all back on.
Brian Dietzen (Jimmy Palmer) is hot. He sings and dances, too.
|by Anonymous||reply 40||03/05/2013|
R40, Murray stopped smoking. Probably explains the weight gain. Given the weird changes in his voice the last few years, the ciggies caused damage to his vocal cords.
Good for him.
|by Anonymous||reply 41||03/05/2013|
Try ncisfiction.com, R39
There's tons of Gibbs/DiNozzo, more so than any other pairing.
|by Anonymous||reply 42||03/06/2013|
|by Anonymous||reply 43||03/07/2013|
My god, McGee's dad is a total asshole!
|by Anonymous||reply 44||03/26/2013|
|by Anonymous||reply 45||04/01/2013|
Who will fade into obscurity after NCIS is over?
|by Anonymous||reply 46||04/04/2013|
Everyone except Mark Harmon. Maybe Weatherly also.
|by Anonymous||reply 47||04/10/2013|
Does anybody know the situation with DePablo?
Is she or is she not coming back? They haven't announced anything. Is she really that delusional (or her reps are) in believing that the show would suffer without her?
What's the hold-up?
I hope she leaves.
|by Anonymous||reply 48||04/14/2013|
Anyone watch tonight? Marina Sirtis guest-starred as the new director of Mossad. I thought she was Shohreh Aghdashloo. They could play sisters now.
|by Anonymous||reply 49||04/24/2013|
[quote]Procedural crime drama featuring the Naval Criminal Investigative Service.
Is there really that much crime and murder in the Navy that they need their own criminal investigation unit?
|by Anonymous||reply 50||04/24/2013|
NCIS investigates crime within the Navy as well as crimes against the Navy and its personnel, e.g., procurement fraud, bid rigging, espionage, murder, assault, etc.
|by Anonymous||reply 51||04/24/2013|
I received this link by someone I don't know. Is this for real? Abby seems so cool . I imagine if this was true the mainstream press would cover it. WTF.
|by Anonymous||reply 52||06/03/2013|
Bump for the huge news from today:
! DePablo is leaving the show!!!
Wonder what happened with the contract negotiations.
|by Anonymous||reply 53||07/10/2013|
I think Cote De Pablo wanted more money and I believe it is the real reason she is leaving the show. I didn't watch this past season (2012-2013) because I was pretty bored with the show.
|by Anonymous||reply 54||07/21/2013|
Well, yeah, it's pretty much a given that she wanted more money.
The question is how much more? I had read some people mention she was making more than Weatherly and Paulie and the McGee dude!
That's already bullshit, if true.
Whatever, the show was pretty boring this year and I had seriously considered not watching anymore.
|by Anonymous||reply 55||07/22/2013|
I like the show, but didn't watch as much this last season. I hadn't followed the gossip about Cote de Pablo. They'll replace her like they did Sasha if she doesn't want to come back. I actually liked Sasha better. I think they'd have a hard time without Harmon and without McCallum. The LA version was supposed to be more hip, but the original has remained more popular. CBS buys probably more episodes of this show than it does of any other. It starts sooner in the fall and goes on longer in May than any of the other network shows.
|by Anonymous||reply 56||07/22/2013|
Tonight's episode centered on the investigation of the murder of an openly gay navy officer. His husband was a police officer. The freepers are going nuts on Facebook about the show pushing the "gay agenda" and swearing off the show.
