Songs that make you happy

A thread for upbeat, optimistic songs. Here's one:

by Anonymousreply 9010/27/2013

Always.

by Anonymousreply 106/18/2012

Its not because of the singer.

by Anonymousreply 206/18/2012

On an Escapade baby...

by Anonymousreply 306/18/2012

The Housemartins, "Happy Hour"

by Anonymousreply 406/18/2012

This one wins every time.

by Anonymousreply 506/18/2012

Reminds me of magical days on Fire Island...

by Anonymousreply 606/18/2012

"Use It Up, Wear It Out," the Pat & Mick version

by Anonymousreply 706/18/2012

Rembrandts "Just The Way It Is, Baby". TEN times better than their annyoing "Friends" theme song.

by Anonymousreply 806/18/2012

"It's A Shame" by the Spinners. Always reminds me of summer, the beach, driving around with my friends and listening to the radio, and not having a care in the world.

by Anonymousreply 906/18/2012

hellogoodbye - "Here (In Your Arms)"

by Anonymousreply 1006/18/2012

Awesome, R4. It's been years since I've heard it, and I don't think I ever saw the video.

Here's my pick:

by Anonymousreply 1106/18/2012

Hellogoodbye - "Here (In Your Arms)"

by Anonymousreply 1206/18/2012

Don't worry, be happy

by Anonymousreply 1306/18/2012

It's been a while...

by Anonymousreply 1406/18/2012

And you need the closing...

by Anonymousreply 1506/18/2012

If this song doesn't put a smile on your face, then you're not human.

by Anonymousreply 1606/18/2012

Let's get happy:

by Anonymousreply 1706/18/2012

It was the hoopla about the unrated video that first introduced me to Girls "Lust for Life," but now I really love the song.

NSFW video attached.

by Anonymousreply 1806/18/2012

Omg, I love "love is in the air!"

by Anonymousreply 1906/18/2012

Darren hayes 'so beautiful'

by Anonymousreply 2006/18/2012

Earworm.

by Anonymousreply 2106/18/2012

LOL, forgot that Sally once had her own show.

by Anonymousreply 2206/18/2012

Many Go West songs, this one included

by Anonymousreply 2306/18/2012

Walking on Sunshine

by Anonymousreply 2406/18/2012

Love Really Hurts Without You-Billy Ocean

by Anonymousreply 2506/18/2012

DreamLover:

by Anonymousreply 2606/18/2012

Speaking of Mr. Ocean...

by Anonymousreply 2706/18/2012

Oh My God:

by Anonymousreply 2806/18/2012

Mama Cass' MAKE YOUR OWN KIND OF MUSIC

by Anonymousreply 2906/18/2012

One of my favourite movie scenes and it uses Cass' song. From BEAUTIFUL THING...

by Anonymousreply 3006/18/2012

Five for Fighting's The Riddle.

by Anonymousreply 3106/18/2012

Love this song but this is the best version...

by Anonymousreply 3206/18/2012

That's funny, R28.

by Anonymousreply 3306/18/2012

The original "As the World Turns" theme as played by Charlie Paul, Soapluvva, and Orgnplyr:

"Daydream Believer" by The Monkees

by Anonymousreply 3506/18/2012

young hearts run free-candi staton

by Anonymousreply 3606/18/2012

I'm not Christian, but this groovy rhythm of this song makes me feel good.

by Anonymousreply 3706/19/2012

442 Glenwood Avenue-Pixies Three

by Anonymousreply 3806/19/2012

Like a viegin

by Anonymousreply 3906/19/2012

Are those chimes at the opening hooks of this song?

by Anonymousreply 4006/19/2012

It's a vibraphone, Della, not chimes at the beginning of that Supremes song.

Here's my pick:

by Anonymousreply 4106/19/2012

THIS!

by Anonymousreply 4206/19/2012

This ALWAYS puts me in a good mood:

by Anonymousreply 4306/19/2012

"I'm Alive" by Celine Dion

by Anonymousreply 4406/19/2012

It's not really upbeat, but this takes me back to a simpler, happier time.

by Anonymousreply 4506/19/2012

Vietnam was a simpler, happy time?

by Anonymousreply 4606/19/2012

It was for me. I was well below draft age, we didn't have a television, or get a daily newspaper. The war had zero impact on my life, so yeah, it was a simpler, happier time.

by Anonymousreply 4706/19/2012

Soulful Dress by Sugar Pie DeSanto:

by Anonymousreply 4806/19/2012

My grocery store must play the same songs over and over on a loop because it seems like every other time I go in there I end up hearing this song. It always makes me feel good - and consequently I probably buy more shit which I'm sure is the intent.

Shanice, "I Love Your Smile"

by Anonymousreply 4906/19/2012

Phil Collins "Something Happened on the Way to Heaven"

by Anonymousreply 5006/19/2012

Look No Strings by Chumbawumba

by Anonymousreply 5106/19/2012

This one always makes me puts me in a good mood, at least while I listening to it :)

by Anonymousreply 5206/19/2012

Up, Up and Away - The Fifth Dimension. It's old but so exuberant and it sounds exactly like you're going up, up and away from all your troubles.

by Anonymousreply 5306/19/2012

R53, Just thinking about "If I Could Reach You" the other day. Great (sad) song. The Fifth Dimension was a great group.

by Anonymousreply 5406/19/2012

R54, I've never heard that one by them, I think I'll go hunt for it, thanks!

by Anonymousreply 5506/19/2012

Marilyn McCoo has one of my all-time favorite pop music voices.

by Anonymousreply 5606/19/2012

Mama Mia

by Anonymousreply 5706/19/2012

One Fine Day by Carole King

by Anonymousreply 5806/19/2012

Move over, bitches. Here's a minute and a half that will make you smile wider than Doris Robert's ass.

by Anonymousreply 5906/19/2012

Tutta la Vita

by Anonymousreply 6006/19/2012

Eva Cassidy, "You Are".

Such a tragic story for a singer that had so much ahead of her.....

It's on YouTube by the way.....her version of "Over The Rainbow" always brings a tear to my eye.

by Anonymousreply 6106/19/2012

The Best Things in Life are Free - Luther and Janet. Great, upbeat song:

by Anonymousreply 6206/19/2012

let's do it!

by Anonymousreply 6306/19/2012

I concur, R62!

by Anonymousreply 6406/19/2012

(R62) Yes..I love this song.....

by Anonymousreply 6506/19/2012

Vacation - The Go-Go's

by Anonymousreply 6606/20/2012

The best song that Hall & Oates have ever done is, in my opinion, "Possession Obsession". Always picked me up way back int eh mid 80's when it came out. Video was decades ahead of its time in the depiction (albeit brief) of a gay couple showing affection in the back of an NYC taxi. Also loved the cameo by then supermodel Ariane Koizumi and the socialite giving a flirtatious look back at John oates after almost being hit by his cab.

by Anonymousreply 6706/20/2012

If this has been posted, my apologies:

King Harvest's "Dancing in the Moonlight"

by Anonymousreply 6806/20/2012

Sing Me Spanish Techno

by Anonymousreply 6906/20/2012

"Harmony to My Heartbeat" by Sally Seltmann

by Anonymousreply 7006/20/2012

R68 I had forgotten all about that song! Love it.

Dancing in the Moonlight has always been a great song IMO.

by Anonymousreply 7106/20/2012

George Duke - Chillin

by Anonymousreply 7206/20/2012

Most songs by Jem and the Holograms. This is just one..

by Anonymousreply 7306/20/2012

Pure pop perfection from 1975--"Moonlight Feels Right" by Starbuck. Bonus: epic xylophone solo.

by Anonymousreply 7406/20/2012

Strange Fruit

and

Gloomy Sunday

by Anonymousreply 7506/20/2012

r74 here. It would probably help if I posted a link to the song.

by Anonymousreply 7606/20/2012

Pour Some Sugar on Me

by Anonymousreply 7706/21/2012

Cher Chez La Femme...makes me smile.

R74, I love that one too, reminds me of sunny days and summertime and Disneyland.

by Anonymousreply 7806/21/2012

LOVE can make you happy if you find someone who cares to give

by Anonymousreply 7906/22/2012

This psychedelic tinged song by Dengue Fever, with me tripping on ———, is making me feel quite happy right now:

by Anonymousreply 8006/22/2012

Will you be staying after Sunday or go home on Monday...

by Anonymousreply 8106/22/2012

Bump for one-hit wonder Cyndi Grecco. She spent two weeks at No. 25 on the chart in July 1976 with the song "Making Our Dreams Come True", better known as the theme song of the TV series Laverne and Shirley.

by Anonymousreply 8207/09/2012

Definitely Sugar, Sugar.

by Anonymousreply 8307/09/2012

Milkshake

by Anonymousreply 8407/13/2012

Agreed,r83.

When it comes to the genre of frothy, fun, meaningless ear candy, the genius of "Sugar, Sugar" is obvious.

I give Madonna's "Hard Candy" my highest compliment: portions of it remind me of "Sugar,Sugar."

by Anonymousreply 8507/13/2012

Sara Evans, "Suds in the Bucket"

by Anonymousreply 8607/28/2012

A current song that makes me happy is Grouplove's "Tongue Tied."

But the attached homemade video features a faster version of the song which makes me smile. Now I don't care of the normal version as much.

by Anonymousreply 8707/29/2012

Pace of Light, Shanghai Restoration Project

by Anonymousreply 8807/30/2012

Groovejet by DJ Spiller feat. Sophie Ellis-Bextor. I though SEB would have a huge career but have not really heard much from her since "Murder on the Dance Floor". Oh and the guy in the video was hot!

by Anonymousreply 8910/26/2013

"Highway To Hell" by AC/DC. The song just pumps me up and makes me feel like a zillion bucks. Anytime I am down I play it and things seem so much better. Love it!
