Cast the proposed film of "Into The Woods"

Cinderella- Anne Hathaway

Baker's Wife- Amy Adams (the only holdover from the park)

Cinderella's Prince- James Marsden

Baker- Ewan MacGregor

Jack- Nick Jonas

any others?

by Anonymousreply 5305/10/2013

Oops Michelle

by Anonymousreply 106/18/2012

Hugh Jackman would be a fun Wolf.

by Anonymousreply 206/18/2012

Maybe they could use Hugh's real penis for the wolf costume.

by Anonymousreply 306/18/2012

Jonas should not appear in a musical ever again. Oprah for the cow. Don't you dare mention Taylor Swift or Miley Cyrus either! Or Russell Brand or Tom Cruise.

by Anonymousreply 406/18/2012

Careful the things you post, OP. Children will listen.

by Anonymousreply 506/18/2012

Jeremy Jordan would make a better Jack than Joe Jonas.

See what I did there?

by Anonymousreply 606/18/2012

Anne too old for cinders....sorry

by Anonymousreply 706/18/2012

[quote]Jeremy Jordan would make a better Jack than Joe Jonas.

Saw what you did there (and agree).

Does Chloe Moretz sing? She'd be an amazing Red Riding Hood.

by Anonymousreply 806/18/2012

Is it a new "thing" to reinterpret fairytales now?

by Anonymousreply 906/18/2012

Into the Woods was written in 1987, so no, it's not a new "thing".

by Anonymousreply 1006/18/2012

What the hell is Into the Woods?

by Anonymousreply 1106/18/2012

It is a radical newfangled concept, R9.

by Anonymousreply 1206/18/2012

Witch - Toni Collette

Baker's Wife - Reese Witherspoon

Baker - Josh Radnor

Cinderella - Lauren Ambrose

Jack - Chris Colfer

Jack's Mother - Imelda Staunton

Cinderella's Prince/Wolf - Patrick Wilson

Mystery Man/Narrator - Christopher Walken

by Anonymousreply 1306/18/2012

Michelle Pfiefer?? Didn't you see Hairspray? No.

by Anonymousreply 1406/18/2012

R14 I was thinking of her more in that movie about the star that fell to earth and she was a witch. Loved her in that.

by Anonymousreply 1506/18/2012

R13, Chris Colfer as Jack? I just threw up a little in my mouth. His final high note in "Giants in the Sky" would cause dogs to howl from all corners of the earth.

by Anonymousreply 1606/18/2012

I'd rather see a Sunset movie with Pfeiffer as Norma.

by Anonymousreply 1706/18/2012

R13 _ Agree about Lauren Ambrose

by Anonymousreply 1806/18/2012

Lea Michele would make a fine Rapunzel.

by Anonymousreply 1906/18/2012

Mandy Moore as Rapunzel, sort of reprising her Tangled role.

by Anonymousreply 2006/18/2012

Lauren Ambrose as Cinderella? No. Cinderella is supposed to be a beauty.

by Anonymousreply 2106/18/2012

Lauren Ambrose IS a beauty!

by Anonymousreply 2206/18/2012

Lea Michele as everyone. She's just that talented.

by Anonymousreply 2306/18/2012

Cinderella should have a lush, lyrical soprano voice. Ambrose has a belt, I believe. I don't think she'd be cast as Fanny Brice if she did.

Hathaway is the obvious choice.

by Anonymousreply 2406/18/2012

Doesn't matter - they can all be dubbed - just like on GLEE (except for Lea, of course).

by Anonymousreply 2506/18/2012

Love the toni collate idea. She can sing well.

Would prefer Gavin Creel as Jack.

Based on 9, could we squeeze Marion Cotillard in somewhere (not sure how you explain the accent tho)

by Anonymousreply 2606/18/2012

They should have made this movie back in the nineties with Streisand as the Witch, Matthew Broderick as the Baker and Julia Louis-Dreyfus as the Baker's Wife.

by Anonymousreply 2706/18/2012

i love a lot of these suggestions..you guys are great

by Anonymousreply 2806/18/2012

[quote]Based on 9, could we squeeze Marion Cotillard in somewhere (not sure how you explain the accent tho)

These are based on fairy-tales. What does it matter what sort of accent Cotillard has?

[quote]by: Just no Zeta-Jones please, the floor can't take it

CZJ is too young for most of the female roles in the play, but she'd be perfect for Little Red Riding Hood, don't you think?

by Anonymousreply 2906/19/2012

Emma Stone for little red please!

by Anonymousreply 3006/19/2012

Hey Datalounge: really? You couldn't cast even ONE actor of color so I could feel good about my kid watching this film? NOT ONE?

by Anonymousreply 3106/19/2012

Gavin Creel is way too old for Jack.

It should be Jeremy Jordan.

by Anonymousreply 3206/19/2012

OP's choices are classic unimaginative Hollywood choices.

R13 does a much better job, except when it comes to the Baker and Baker's Wife.'

I'd move Toni Collette to Baker's Wife and open up our choices for the Witch.

by Anonymousreply 3306/19/2012

Streisand should play the witch so she can sing her hit, "Children Will Listen" from Back to Broadway.

by Anonymousreply 3406/19/2012

Agreed for some multi-cultural casting. Audra McDonald as the Baker's Wife. Jenn Collela as the Witch. Kyle Dean Massey as Jack (and he needs several nude scenes with Milky White who will be played by some young talented african-american actor).

Don't forget Bernadette Peters as the Grandmother!

by Anonymousreply 3506/19/2012

Lea Michele would be great as Red Riding Hood with Michele Lee as granny. The recent London production had Red as a chubby, binge eating and manipulative girl, not wholly innocent by any means.

Katherine Jenkins would be a great Rapunzel. She doesn't say much and she was rather adequate in her Doctor Who episode.

Helena Bonham Carter as Jack's mother.

I'd like Glenn Close as the witch with Anika Noni Rose as Cinderella, based on her performance in Company.

by Anonymousreply 3606/19/2012

Cast 3 African-American rappers as Anne Hathaway's sisters.

Can Elizabeth Rodriguez sing? She'd be an interesting Baker's wife. She could beat the shit out of the Baker every time he wimps out.

by Anonymousreply 3706/19/2012

Actually Bernadette Peters could still get away with playing the Witch.

If they hurry.

by Anonymousreply 3806/19/2012

[quote]Lea Michele would make a fine Rapunzel.

Yes. For the scene where Rapunzel has been stomped to death by the Giant's Wife.

by Anonymousreply 3906/19/2012

Tyler Maynard is Jack - at least he'd find a way to get plenty of money to spare Milky White. He'd 'find' swag and we wouldn't need the 'hair as gold as corn' and all that other stupid shit. He'd find Ipads and plenty of bags of gold to appease the giant.

Yea I know he's 30+ and a serious alcoholic but I want to see his big cock.

by Anonymousreply 4006/20/2012

Looks like it could be Meryl for the Witch!

by Anonymousreply 4110/06/2012

They did a table read for it this week, I gather, with Megan Hilty playing Lucinda.

by Anonymousreply 4210/07/2012

Jesus, I don't know any of these people.

by Anonymousreply 4310/07/2012

Gavin Creel as Jack?

Gavin Creel is 37 years old.

by Anonymousreply 4410/15/2012

Into the Woods = Snoozefest/high art for theater majors.

by Anonymousreply 4510/15/2012

Will they just film the first act. If they film the second, only the queers and theater teen girls will be there for the end.

by Anonymousreply 4610/15/2012

The second act is the whole points of Into the Woods. It's by far not my favorite of Sondheim's scores, but Act 2 is much more interesting.

CGI-enhanced Susan Sarandon to play the Giant's wife please. And give her a song.

by Anonymousreply 4710/15/2012

Poor Amy Adams was by far the weakest link in the Central Park production.

by Anonymousreply 4810/15/2012

Johnny Depp and Meryl Streep in talks to join the cast!

by Anonymousreply 4904/27/2013

Kerry Washington and Josh Radnor as The Bakers and Toni Collette as The Witch

by Anonymousreply 5005/10/2013

Word is that James Cordon will be The Baker - he would be a splendid choice!

by Anonymousreply 5105/10/2013

Ugh..I am so sick of Johnny Depp.

by Anonymousreply 5205/10/2013

Isn't Meryl far too old and much too dowdy to play the witch?
