Worst Actor to achieve some level of fame?

I vote for Theresa Russell. Sometimes she lined up with roles that were perfect for her (Black Widow anyone?), but she is absolutely terrible. Your vote?

by Anonymousreply 21109/13/2013

Chuck Norris, but it's not like he was ever taken seriously.

So how about the ultra-stiff David Duchovny?

by Anonymousreply 105/18/2012

So many to chose from, OP. Keanu Reeves made my jaw drop, literally, when I watched Dracula. I have never seern a more inept performance in my life. The 'accent' was the least of his problems.

by Anonymousreply 205/18/2012

Jason Statham.

by Anonymousreply 305/18/2012

Tom Cruise

by Anonymousreply 405/18/2012

Goodness, OP-you'd need an entire box of tractor-feed paper to list 'em all.

I list them as either seriously (literally)bad, or laughably bad. I can forgive the latter, they're good for some entertainment. It's the former, the ones who actually think they're doing a good job, that piss me off.

by Anonymousreply 505/18/2012

Keanu OWNS this thread!

by Anonymousreply 605/18/2012

How many posts before the List Queen posts her dozens of choices, which no one will read?

by Anonymousreply 705/18/2012

This thread will end in jeers.

by Anonymousreply 805/18/2012

Seriously bad: Tom Cruise

Laughably bad: Steven Seagal

Keanu has managed over the years to find a few memorable roles curiously suited to his woodenness - River's Edge, The Matrix, My Own Private Idaho.

by Anonymousreply 905/18/2012

David Caruso

by Anonymousreply 1005/18/2012

I love Keanu in Speed though, so sexy.

by Anonymousreply 1105/18/2012

Heather Graham. I don't think she would have any success were she not a hot blonde chick. She has a whiny voice, and it seems like she's just satisfied that she got the words out.

by Anonymousreply 1205/18/2012

Cuba.

Gooding.

by Anonymousreply 1305/18/2012

Tim Allen.

by Anonymousreply 1405/18/2012

I don't think anyone will beat Theresa Russell in this category in our lifetime. She was bad for the ages.

by Anonymousreply 1505/18/2012

And her fashion sense matched her acting ability.

by Anonymousreply 1605/18/2012

Just saw John Cusack in RAVEN. One of the worst films and worst performances I have seen in a long time. I had never seen him in a major role and thought he would be good. Boy, was I wrong!

by Anonymousreply 1805/18/2012

Rpatzzzzzz

by Anonymousreply 1905/18/2012

Nope, not him R19. He has basic level acting ability - not exceptional, but by no means as bad as many of the others out there.

by Anonymousreply 2005/18/2012

Lorraine Bracco is miles worse than Theresa Russell. She must have been some studio head's wife.

by Anonymousreply 2105/18/2012

WAlberg a hole in the air.

In Wolfman, Del Toro doing Shakespeare.

In Twilight, Pattinson doing Shakespeare.

Julia Roberts, sorry to report.

I somewhat agree about Theresa Russell, but she has conviction at least, sometimes. As good as ScarJO.

Jennifer Anniston can't really act. Nor fugly Vince Vaughn.

Find Norton highly overrated.

Don't like any of em when I can see them using their "tools"

by Anonymousreply 2205/18/2012

Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you Miss Jessica Alba.

by Anonymousreply 2305/18/2012

Mark Wahlberg.

by Anonymousreply 2405/18/2012

Candice Bergen.

by Anonymousreply 2505/18/2012

YES, Theresa Russell!

Lorraine Bracco was good in Goodfellas.

I like Keanu Reeves, but he is not a good actor.

Kristen Stewart

by Anonymousreply 2605/18/2012

Andie MacDowell is the worst actress to appear in a good movie EVER.

EVER

by Anonymousreply 2705/18/2012

Jennifer Aniston.....hands down.

by Anonymousreply 2805/18/2012

"Oscar Nominee" Ali McGraw.

by Anonymousreply 2905/18/2012

Alfre Woodard

by Anonymousreply 3005/18/2012

You have to see the campfest that is "Eureka!" Starring Theresa Russell and Rutger Hauer. Hauer plays a Frenchman with an inexplicable Dutch accent. Also stars Gene Hackman keeping a straight face even during Russell's "star turn" in the courtroom scene.

by Anonymousreply 3105/18/2012

Young Kim Novak was definitely in the mould of bad Ali McGraw/Candice Bergen actreses.

by Anonymousreply 3205/18/2012

Channing Tatum, hands down

by Anonymousreply 3305/18/2012

Sarah Paulson

by Anonymousreply 3405/18/2012

Although Cruise annoys me, he was very, very good in "Magnolia."

by Anonymousreply 3505/18/2012

Gawd, Andie McDowell in Four Weddings. Horrible.

by Anonymousreply 3605/18/2012

Robert Pattinson. At least I want to continue watching some of Keanu's movies.

by Anonymousreply 3705/18/2012

So weird OP, I was watching a season two episode of Fringe on my netflix DVD, and Theresa Russell popped up as a love interest for Walter. She was laughably bad, and I googled her because I couldn't figure out how she managed to survive so long as actress.

She looks great though.

by Anonymousreply 3805/18/2012

Denise Richards. And definitely agree with Andie MacDowell.

by Anonymousreply 3905/18/2012

No one yet mentioned holds a candle to Louise Fletcher. One of the worst, most wooden actresses to ever have a career, much less an Oscar. Talk about being carried by the rest of her cast....

by Anonymousreply 4005/18/2012

Kristen Stewart can close this thread down.

by Anonymousreply 4105/18/2012

Annette Bening. Everything I have seen with her, she is THE WORST part of the film. She is a horrible actress, has no personality and really is not all that good looking. She just sucks from beginning to end. The only reason she gets any notice is that everyone feels compelled to kiss Warren Beatty's ass because apparently he made some good pictures like 100 years ago.

by Anonymousreply 4305/18/2012

Denise Richards.

by Anonymousreply 4405/18/2012

Drew Barrymore! Even in her best performance--Grey Gardens--she reverts to her regular speaking voice. Which is not a good thing when your character has a thick accent!

by Anonymousreply 4505/18/2012

Theresa Russell is mostly amateurish, though she did manage to eek out one decent performance in BLACK WIDOW, no doubt helped by the director. Her work for her former husband Nicolas Roeg is generally appalling. But her absolute WORST is a movie called WHORE, directed by Ken Russell at his lowest ebb.

Lana Turner and Kim Novak are both inept in their own different ways, and seeing their effortful attempts to act just makes things worse. Again, each of them had 1 or 2 stokes of luck: Turner in POSTMAN ALWAYS RINGS TWICE and to a lesser degree PEYTON PLACE; Novak in VERTIGO and, maybe, BELL, BOOK, and CANDLE.

Tom Cruise is not a bad actor, really. just humorless and too grimly determined.

Keanu Reeves is a stoner dude who is only tolerable where that kind of persona works. Though he was very funny as an oddball dentist in THUMBSUCKER.

by Anonymousreply 4605/18/2012

This is reaching back some, but I always thought that Stephen Boyd was the worst actor ever to land a series of plum parts -- by what mechanism, God only knows.

by Anonymousreply 4705/18/2012

Without a doubt, Nicholas Cage. With two exceptions, "The Cotton Club"(I know, but he was perfect Richard Geer's the psychotic younger brother. Great to see him get shot up in a phone booth) and "Moonstruck", somehow he works and doesn't ruin the performances of the others around him. I have found him unbearable in everything else, including his Oscar-winning performance in "Leaving Los Vegas". He just radiates: "I'm a dick!"

by Anonymousreply 4805/18/2012

Boyd could be quite the ham (just watch THE OSCAR sometime).

by Anonymousreply 4905/18/2012

I see that everyone but me has been fortunate enough to forget the existence of the incomperable MELANIE GRIFFITH!!!

Nobody but me is still tormented by the memory of her whiny voice, unfocused gaze, and the amateurishness that makes the cast of "Twilight" look like the Royal Shakespear Company.

by Anonymousreply 5005/18/2012

Melanie was terrific playing herself, essentially, in Working Girl.

Then she tried to "branch out" - the nadir has to be "Shining Through," where she played a woman who becomes a spy in Nazi Germany because she speaks fluent German with a Berlin accent (courtesy of her mother).

Melanie was completely unbelievable as someone with the brains to be a spy, and especially as someone who could fluently speak another language (of course, all the "German" scenes were in English).

by Anonymousreply 5105/18/2012

Sean Young

by Anonymousreply 5405/19/2012

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned January Jones yet. Or Taylor Lautner.

by Anonymousreply 5505/19/2012

I disagree about Tom Cruise. He was great in Fourth of July

I agree about Andie McDowell. I will add Jaclyn Smith. What a joke.

by Anonymousreply 5605/19/2012

[quote]Jessica Biel - bland & inexpressive yet keeps getting hired.

Her ass keeps getting her hired--and I'm not talking about Timberlake.

by Anonymousreply 5705/19/2012

Justin Timberlake, Marky Mark, and Julia Roberts

by Anonymousreply 5805/19/2012

Angelina Voight, anorexic junkie nepotism case, who brings nothing except her tabloid fame, and does that Count Chocula accent in every part requiring a switch from her flat, raspy normal voice.

by Anonymousreply 5910/12/2012

You can add my vote to Theresa Russell.

A Beautiful woman who has many cringe-worthy scenes throughout various movies.

by Anonymousreply 6010/12/2012

I have to disagree with Andie MacDowell. Four Weddings and a Funeral, Groundhog Day, and sex, lies, and videotape are all very good films, and her performances were key in all of them.

Sean Young, on the other hand, is atrocious.

by Anonymousreply 6110/12/2012

Andie McDowell seems to suck the life out of every movie she's in.

by Anonymousreply 6210/12/2012

I saw Heather Graham in that Austin Powers movie. Jesus Christ! A block of wood looks charismatic next to her.

Totally wooden : Andie MacDowell, Keanu.

by Anonymousreply 6310/12/2012

The odd thing is, you can easily make a list of five or so really good to decent movies movies featuring Andie MacDowell.

Off the top of my head, Green Card, sex, lies and videotape, Groundhog Day, Four Weddings and a Funeral and one of my favorites of all times, Short Cuts.

Good writing, great directors, excellent casts.

Yet she manages to be absolutely painfully useless in every one of them.

I always wind up wondering what it would have been like if actual actresses had gotten those jobs.

by Anonymousreply 6410/12/2012

Does anyone else think Patricia Arquette is outstandingly wooden and amateurish in certain films - Bringing Out the Dead, The Hi-Lo Country, The Secret Agent, Stigmata? (She's competent in others, like True Romance or Lost Highway, but when she's bad she is rotten.)

by Anonymousreply 6510/12/2012

Yes, she was terrible in "Bringing Out" and "Medium" was sleep-inducing. She's awful, worse than Theresa Russell, who isn't as bad as you're saying, her breakthru in "Bad Timing" was brilliant and she was funny and good in "Wild Things." Think Andie McDowell is terrible and laughable in "Short Cuts."

by Anonymousreply 6610/12/2012

Paltrow owns this thread.

by Anonymousreply 6710/12/2012

Channing Tatum!

by Anonymousreply 6810/12/2012

Andie McDowell is far wore than Theresa Russell, her whole vocal had to be redone by Glenn Close in "Greystoke."

by Anonymousreply 6910/12/2012

I meant "Straight Time" was Russell's breakthrough, not "Bad Timing."

by Anonymousreply 7010/12/2012

Oh god yes, forgot about Theresa Russell - I take my vote for Paltrow back, I'll go with the god awful T.R.

by Anonymousreply 7110/12/2012

Steven Seagal or Kristen Stewart.

by Anonymousreply 7210/12/2012

But you must admit Andie McDowell was sublime genius in "Riding the Bus With My Sister" compared to her costar Rosie O'Donnell.

by Anonymousreply 7310/12/2012

Tom Tryon -- was a better author than actor.

John Gavin -- beautiful man but so wooden on screen. However that worked for him in Thoroughly Modern Millie.

by Anonymousreply 7410/12/2012

OP nailed it = Theresa Russell is in a master class all her own...

by Anonymousreply 7510/12/2012

Charles Lee Ray

by Anonymousreply 7710/12/2012

Heath Ledger.

by Anonymousreply 7810/12/2012

Oops, I forgot to add Kristen Stewart. Even worse than Heath Ledger.

by Anonymousreply 7910/12/2012

[quote]Don't like any of em when I can see them using their "tools"

Explain. Evan amongst those who are supposed to be 'good'. I'm fascinated by the process of unnatural/faked/forced 'emotions' for a scene, and seeing the gears turning.

I'd like to see everyone in this thread give their take on this, even down to the subtlest nuances. So much of acting reads as false, even when I can't put my finger on why, or put it into words. Help me out!

by Anonymousreply 8010/12/2012

They should do a remake of Green Card called 'Undocumented Worker', about a murderer and rapist.

by Anonymousreply 8110/12/2012

Not really, R73. I'll take Rosie's retard antics over McDowell any day.

by Anonymousreply 8210/12/2012

Robert De Niro has NEVER impressed me.

by Anonymousreply 8310/12/2012

Sean Young is someone limited with little acting talent who can be great and vulnerable when correctly cast, such as in Blade Runner. I'm convinced that Ridley Scott made the right choice. She is Rachael.

by Anonymousreply 8410/12/2012

Tom Hanks, hands down. Boring actor, dull personality, zero sex appeal and a face that would never have appeared in movies in a more discerning age.

by Anonymousreply 8510/12/2012

R85, he's like an uglier Tony Curtis.

by Anonymousreply 8610/12/2012

Brad Pitt is always fairly bad, and always seems dumb, even when his character or performance tries to be smart.

by Anonymousreply 8710/12/2012

Ben Affleck. He needs to stick to directing and stop fucking casting himself in his own movies because he can't act.

by Anonymousreply 8810/12/2012

She may be a great singer (though that belting gives me a headache) -- but Jennifer Hudson is the all-time WORST winner of an Oscar in my lifetime. She spends the whole movie looking like she's waiting for her cue. Borderline bad porno acting like Julianne Moore parodied in "Boogie Nights", someone thinking about their next line the whole time.

by Anonymousreply 8910/12/2012

Scott Caan makes Hawaii 5-O unwatchable.

by Anonymousreply 9010/12/2012

Non actor here. How do actors avoid looking like they are thinking about delivering their next line?

by Anonymousreply 9110/12/2012

Kevin. Costner.

by Anonymousreply 9210/12/2012

They learn their parts by rote and rehearse, r91. No magic to it.

"he's like an uglier Tony Curtis."

Oh, now, Curtis was an extremely luscious and comely youth ("do you prefer snails or ersters?") and his hard-scrabble, Brooklyn upbringing (or wherever he was from) at least gave an edge to his personality ("yonder is the castle of my fodder").

by Anonymousreply 9310/12/2012

Kim Foster from the early 90's seasons of "Dallas". Absolutely stunning woman who made her co-star Sacha Mitchell seem like Van Heflin in comparison talent wise.

by Anonymousreply 9410/12/2012

Hush your mouth R90.

by Anonymousreply 9510/12/2012

TAMMY CRUISE

by Anonymousreply 9710/12/2012

Yes R74, John Gavin was wooden but he was so stunningly handsome it didn't matter to me at all. I absolutely loathe John Wayne to the Nth degree.

by Anonymousreply 9810/12/2012

That brat on "Smash."

by Anonymousreply 9910/12/2012

January Jones

I agree, R83, that De Niro is WAY overrated.

by Anonymousreply 10010/12/2012

Sean Young is fabulous in Blade Runner. She can't be listed as the worst because of that single role, no matter how many bad roles in her career.

Theresa Russell is much worse. I actually saw many of her films at the movies back in the day and I never understood why she kept getting roles. She's so inert. Her worse performance is in Physical Evidence with Burt Reynolds and Ted McGinley. Directed by Michael Crichton. Awful film but Theresa is just bad.

Demi Moore is even worse than Sean Young.

by Anonymousreply 10110/13/2012

Hands down Bette Midler

by Anonymousreply 10210/13/2012

Demi is really bad. Sean is pretty good, she's just crazy.

I don't understand the Theresa Russell hate. She was good in The Razor's Edge and in Impulse. She also held her own with Deborah Winger in Black Widow.

by Anonymousreply 10310/13/2012

Watch Sean Young as Twinkle in "Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me" and she might win points. Funny as hell and the film is great camp in its own right. The porn actress who plays Sabre might be technically bad but she is WONDERFUL at the same time.

by Anonymousreply 10410/13/2012

Theresa Russell plays the wicked stepmother in "On Fire," S5, E21 of Law & Order: Criminal Intent. Her acting is all smirks and twitches, really painfully bad.

by Anonymousreply 10510/13/2012

Ashton Kutcher and Miley Cyrus.

by Anonymousreply 10610/13/2012

Jodie Foster not only owns this thread, she performs cunnilingus on it.

by Anonymousreply 10810/13/2012

Jerry Seinfeld

by Anonymousreply 10910/13/2012

Eke out, R46.

by Anonymousreply 11010/13/2012

I would vote Timberlake, but he's not an actor.

by Anonymousreply 11110/13/2012

Sorry girls, it's Bernadette Peters.

by Anonymousreply 11210/13/2012

What's worse is when they're bad actors and then just miserable nasty people on top of that.January Jones,Chuck Norris,Bruce Willis...etc.

by Anonymousreply 11310/13/2012

Frank Langella, who will tell you completely otherwise. He is incredibly limited with a variety of "looks."

by Anonymousreply 11410/13/2012

Nicole Kidman in anything where she's not asked to play calculating. Most artificial performance: Australia.

Faye Dunaway in The Wicked Lady when she was still trying to channel Joan is a high watermark of appalling acting.

by Anonymousreply 11510/13/2012

Adrienne Barbeau - hired for her big tits and lovely smile.

Chuck Norris - not hired for his looks or wooden acting. He could kick, but Mitzi Gaynor could kick higher while singing.

Kim Novak did a very good job as Marjorie Oelrichs in "The Eddie Duchin Story."

by Anonymousreply 11610/13/2012

How is January Jones a nasty person?

by Anonymousreply 11710/13/2012

David Caruso has one expression, looking askance while speaking slowly in hushed tones then looking up for emphasis.

by Anonymousreply 11810/13/2012

Robert De Niro is a fantastic method actor - come on. hello?

by Anonymousreply 12010/13/2012

Drake Hogestyn, from "Days Of Our Lives." He invented a 4-S method of "acting."

In the margin of the script, he marks his planned actions while whispering his lines and his planned reactions to the lines of real actors in the scene.

1-S = Sniff

2-S = Sigh

3-S = Scowl

4-S = Snort

by Anonymousreply 12110/13/2012

Russell never bothered me. She's very good in BAD TIMING.

McGraw, on the other hand, was a terrible actress.

by Anonymousreply 12210/13/2012

Rosie O'Donnell. Madge is not very good at acting, either.

by Anonymousreply 12310/13/2012

So, how do all these bad/wooden actors get roles? Why? How did they get to where they are? Is it the casting couch, who they knew/related to? What? So many flock to Hollywood, surely SOME of them are better than these folks. Why aren't they EVER seen or heard? What gives? Explain, please.

by Anonymousreply 12410/13/2012

As an actor, Ron "Ridge" Moss was a better bassist. Notice how his departure from "B&B" hasn't affected the show.

by Anonymousreply 12510/13/2012

I'm with r105. Russell was just awful on L&O: CI.

by Anonymousreply 12610/13/2012

[quote]So, how do all these bad/wooden actors get roles?

Ali McGraw married the production chief at Paramount. Then she married Steve McQueen.

Theresa Russell married a director who put her in several movies.

by Anonymousreply 12710/13/2012

Every single actor in those Twilight movies.

by Anonymousreply 12910/13/2012

Nicole Cage. Awful, just awful.

by Anonymousreply 13010/13/2012

Russell is an absolute gem in Wild Things though as Denise Richards mother-especially the scene where the court case falls apart.

by Anonymousreply 13110/13/2012

I thought Sean Young was amazing in No Way Out.

by Anonymousreply 13210/13/2012

[quote]Drake Hogestyn, from "Days Of Our Lives." He invented a 4-S method of "acting."

True, but he has a chest to die for!

by Anonymousreply 13310/13/2012

Ben Affleck. Hands down.

by Anonymousreply 13510/13/2012

Norma Shearer.

by Anonymousreply 13610/13/2012

As far as January Jones being a bitch,The story goes she was at a party that was also attended by Zak Galifianakis, apparently she called him over to her table and somehow went out of her way to try and insult him somehow,I don't know how exactly but it ended with Zak telling her she should be nice because she was just a pretty face and her looks wouldn't last forever.

by Anonymousreply 13710/13/2012

"Adrienne Barbeau - hired for her big tits and lovely smile."

She's more than just a pretty face and a big rack. Adrienne grew into her role as Carol on Maude, and was quite good in other roles.

by Anonymousreply 13810/13/2012

[quote]he has a chest to die for!

That may have been a selling point in he past *sigh* but now he (Drake Hogestyn) *sniff-sniff* has enough wrinkles to hold a three-day rain *snort*.

by Anonymousreply 13910/13/2012

I agree that January is a terrible actress, however, she may or may not be a bitch. The story about January is from Zach himself, so we only get his point of view. January complimented him to some magazine, saying that he was the most naturally funny man she'd ever met. In return, Zach told some story about how they'd met at a party and she invited him to sit down at her table. He said he talked to her for 10 minutes, after which point she asked him to leave. He then insulted her. I wonder what he said to her before she asked him to leave.

by Anonymousreply 14010/13/2012

Then tere was that interview the little boy who played one of the Bobby Drapers gave where he talked about how nice everyone was to him on set except for January who he called "serious" and that he tried not to bother her.

by Anonymousreply 14110/14/2012

George Clooney Tom Cruise Brad Pitt Ben Affleck

Have NO idea how these guys could get to the level of celebrity as actors - they are boring as hell on screen!

by Anonymousreply 14210/14/2012

R142 - Seriously? All of the ones you listed have at least some talent.

by Anonymousreply 14310/14/2012

Ben Affleck sucks ass. I remember Ben's big scene in Pearl Harbor, when he finds out his best friend has been sleeping with his fiance, Ben's reaction was to look severely constipated.

by Anonymousreply 14410/14/2012

Darren Criss

by Anonymousreply 14510/14/2012

Zellweger.

by Anonymousreply 14610/14/2012

Well, he wasn't exactly a movie star; but Dean Butler from LHOTP must have been sucking off Michael Landon.

by Anonymousreply 14710/14/2012

Watching John Wayne made me want to go out and kill small babies.

by Anonymousreply 14910/14/2012

Ben Affleck is indeed awful.

Kristen Stewart shouldn't even be cast in non-speaking roles. Worst actress on earth.

Robert Pattinson plays each of his roles as if they are both constipated and mentally challenged.

Brad Pitt ruins actually good movies with his wooden performances.

Justin Timberlake - stick to singing

by Anonymousreply 15011/11/2012

Melanie Griffith (good in Body Double though)

by Anonymousreply 15111/11/2012

I want to come to Theresa Russell's defence. She was never a threat to Meryl but was never that bad. I liked her in Black Widow and Track 29.

by Anonymousreply 15211/11/2012

[all posts by right wing shit-stain # a removed.]

by Anonymousreply 15311/11/2012

I still remember the strong hate people had for Andie MacDowell when she was a hot young star. It always amused me. I was never a fan of hers but I wondered why she annoyed people so much. Perhaps it was her sleepy southern accent?

by Anonymousreply 15411/11/2012

Agree about Russell she was pretty bad.

Nic Cage is usually awful as well. I have liked him in some movies but most of the time he's horrible.

Stallone and Arnold. Although, I'm not sure those two actually claimed to be actors so they get a pass.

Charlie Sheen? How the hell did he have a career?

Then there are a whole bunch of respected actors who are insanely over-rated. Sean Penn leaps to mind. He's so over-the-top most of the time that it's pathetic. Plus he's a smug prick. Jack Nicholson can be entertaining to watch but there is a lot of sameness to his work. He just basically plays the same character over and over with some variation.

by Anonymousreply 15511/11/2012

R154 I thought Starship Troopers was Richards only decent performance of her career (she was spunky and perfectly campy as the director intended). She was actually really hot in that movie...almost as hot as in Wild Things. She had me questioning my gayness for a while.

by Anonymousreply 15611/14/2012

TimberFAKE not only is mediocre as a singer but he's HORRIBLE as an actor. He must have a high up friend in the business though, cuz he kept getting decent parts in movies until he finally had a hit.

by Anonymousreply 15711/14/2012

all excellent choices here; so many I don't know who to put on a lamenated list of five.

this is why I admire the dancers on Dancing With the Stars.

Those dancers have to bring something to the table or else they'd be off the show.

They have to be able to dance!

Actors get lucky, but if you dance or sing (mostly) you have to have something to bring to the table.

by Anonymousreply 15811/14/2012

Milla Jovovovich or whatever her name is. Totally useless model turned actress. Very mediocre at anything she does except sitting still in front of a camera.

by Anonymousreply 15911/14/2012

I totally disagree with you Op. Theresa Russell has been absolutely GREAT. She was MAGNIFICENT in 'Bad Timing', how could you omit that? I also liked her a lot in 'Black Widow', 'Kafka', 'Eureka', 'The Razor's Edge', 'Gentlemen Don't Eat Poets', 'Track 29'. Theresa Russell has been absolutely astonishing!

by Anonymousreply 16011/14/2012

Wow, r137, despite your whispered down the lane story omitting facts and admitting you don't remember what happened, you've convinced me that January Jones is a bitch!

Kristen Stewart and Rob Pattinson - the worst actors! its painful to watch them and whoever cast them should be fired.

by Anonymousreply 16311/18/2012

Ali McGraw OWNS this!

by Anonymousreply 16411/18/2012

Jake (to Bella):

Bella, you're not that STU-pid!

Bella:

Uhm...uh....SNORT!

by Anonymousreply 16511/18/2012

Twilight is one of the best comedy movies of the last ten years

Theresa Russell is now way the worst. Denise Richards as a nuclear physicist in a bond move - absurd!

However Keanu is worse than both of them

by Anonymousreply 16611/18/2012

"Chuck Norris - not hired for his looks or wooden acting. He could kick, but Mitzi Gaynor could kick higher while singing."

Not just a terrible actor, but a terrible human being. He actually endorsed "ex-gay" therapy.

by Anonymousreply 16711/18/2012

Bill Pullman

by Anonymousreply 16811/18/2012

Can someone explain to me Theresa Russell's popularity at that certain point in time? I never understood it. She struck me as so strange. Was she connected? Did she sleep with somebody?

by Anonymousreply 16911/18/2012

First one to mention my name gets my size 7 Jimmy Chus up their ass.

by Anonymousreply 17011/18/2012

Sure it's been posted but Russell was married to Nic Roeg, a very respected director in the '70s. That helped and he gave her her best roles (like Nancy Allen with DePalma). Plus I do think people liked her as a person; she always seemed kind of Barbara Hershey mellow, happy to be at the party.

(AND she was considered a major beauty at that time, too).

by Anonymousreply 17111/18/2012

R169 - Theresa was married to director Nick Roeg.

I think she's much better than most people give her credit for. She also has incredible eyes.

by Anonymousreply 17211/18/2012

What the hell is everyone's problem with Theresa Russell? She's absolutely fine. She's the most random choice ever for this thread and I don't understand how her name keeps getting mentioned over and over. I mean, why her rather than, say, Kate Capshaw or Jami Gertz or Sean Young or Sherilyn Fenn? Firstly, Russell was indeed very good in Bad Timing, Insignificance, Black Widow and a few other 80s films, but more than that, it's not like she even achieved more success or distinction than TONS of other leggy, long-haired 80s blondes like Rosanna Arquette, Rebecca De Mornay, Lori Singer, Daryl Hannah, Helen Slater, Mariel Hemingway, Beverly D'Angelo, Sharon Stone, Virginia Madsen (I mean pre-Sideways), Kim Basinger (pre-L.A. Confidential)... Theresa Russell is really no better or worse than any of those actresses. She was never nominated for an Oscar, never won any critics' awards, never even had a box-office hit or major magazine cover as far as I can recall, so it's not like she even had a huge career. She did, however, win a handful of raves for the three films I mentioned above. She's now 55 and a regular working actress who will occasionally crop up in an episode of Cold Case or Law & Order, and does other TV and straight-to-DVD shit. From what I can tell, she's one of the less offensive people in Hollywood.

by Anonymousreply 17311/19/2012

Tom Cruise and Scarlett Johansson top my list.

by Anonymousreply 17411/19/2012

I'm sure she's a perfectly wonderful human being but without question Diana Scarwid has delivered some of the most painfully amateurish line readings I've ever seen committed to celluloid.

Sorry Diana, I am NOT... one of your FAAANNNS!

Despite that, she has still somehow managed an Oscar nod and boasts a filmography longer than Ann Coulter's midface...so FUCK me!

by Anonymousreply 17511/19/2012

Add Keira Knightley.

by Anonymousreply 17611/19/2012

Lisa Kudrow (Phoebe in every freaking role)

Jennifer Anniston (herself in every freaking role. she coasts on romantic comedies because the roles don't require anything of the actors)

George Clooney (also plays himself in every role. people in the industry adore him and he comes from Hollywood royalty. also, charming+handsome+charismatic so the public tends to give him a pass.)

by Anonymousreply 17711/19/2012

Creepy Luke Evans

by Anonymousreply 17811/19/2012

Rachel Ward has been very wooden and amateurish in most things, but she was outstandingly bad in some early films like Night School, The Final Terror and Against All Odds, where she plumbs Sean Young/Andie MacDowell depths of bad acting. She was also weak and flat in After Dark, My Sweet.

by Anonymousreply 17911/19/2012

^ I had forgotten about Rachel Ward. She was so awful in the Thorn Birds.

by Anonymousreply 18011/19/2012

Alice Eve - they keep trying to cast her in everything (she was originally cast in the January Jones role in X-men ha!). She's so awful but it seems like she will be around for a while since she was in Men In Black 3 and now the new Star Trek movie.

by Anonymousreply 18111/19/2012

Bruce Willis

Der Ahnuld

Steven Seagal

Jason Statham

by Anonymousreply 18211/19/2012

Sorry girls, but Vanessa Redgrave. I watched her on Nip/Tuck expecting to see some acting legend and YIKESSSSS. I gave her another chance with The Devils and I realized that most people were drinking the Kool-Aid when they bestowed legendary status on her in the seventies.

Her daughter on the show wasn't much better either.

by Anonymousreply 18311/19/2012

I thought Damian Lewis gave the worst performance in Dreamcatcher, the worst movie of the '00s. Then I watched Homeland out of curiosity when Lewis won the Emmy and NOPE! he didn't get any better.

by Anonymousreply 18411/19/2012

Glenn Close would be better if the wheels weren't so obviously turning in every performance she gave. There's no authenticity, just a loud pronouncement of "Look at me! I'm ACTING"

by Anonymousreply 18511/19/2012

"Sorry girls, but Vanessa Redgrave"

Funny how some people lack ANY objectivity. You honestly believe Vanessa Redgrave is worse than Keanu Reeves? Really?!

by Anonymousreply 18611/19/2012

Of course Vanessa Redgrave is a better actress than Keanu Reeves, R186. But Keanu Reeves isn't known as a pillar of legendary acting ability like Vanessa Redgrave is.

(Although he was decent in I Love You To Death, even if all he had to do was pretend to be drugged out and vacant the whole movie)

by Anonymousreply 18711/19/2012

Paltrow is the most densely wooden actor I've seen in a long time, I'm amazed Robert Downey Jr didn't get proximity splinters from her. She's living proof that nepotism works. Other than her, Ben Affleck of course and the horribly tedious Vince Vaughn. It's like there's a shell of dullness that encompasses everything he says. Ooh and can I get another vote for the vapid Lohan? I know she lives her life like a second rate Lifetime movie, but that doesn't make her an actress. And anyone who talks out their arse about their "craft" while turning in performances that would make Pammie Anderson cringe just can't act - if they could, we'd believe them.

by Anonymousreply 18811/19/2012

Jennifer Hudson wins this thread.

by Anonymousreply 18911/19/2012

Jodie Foster. Talk about wooden.

by Anonymousreply 19011/19/2012

More folks I never want to watch again: Owen Wilson, Bradley Cooper, Ben Stiller (his schtick is TIRED), Anne Hathaway, Will Smith, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Ashton Kutcher.

by Anonymousreply 19111/19/2012

Diana Scarwid is good, very distinctive and she's hilarious in "Mommie" and "Mask".

by Anonymousreply 19211/20/2012

I meant "Silkwood" and I also like her as Michelle Pfeiffer's friend in "What Lies Beneath"

by Anonymousreply 19311/20/2012

Brad Pitt. I just never understood his appeal.

by Anonymousreply 19411/20/2012

Brad Pitt baffles me. He's good looking and certainly an interesting person to watch, but he's always struck me as exactly what he is - small town doof who gets paid to pretend to be a smart and/or tough guy. There's no "there" there. And as he gets older...meh. I guess we can look forward to ten years of assassin movies before he ages gracefully into playing the vice president or CFO.

Likewise, January Jones. Same deal - she's pretty and hot, but I've never seen her do one scene that felt authentic or like she was even trying. No matter how the character is supposed to be feeling, January looks like she's thinking of getting even with someone. And as the White Queen? Christ. Emma Frost had an edge to her; Jones was sub-Buffy.

by Anonymousreply 19511/20/2012

Robert Pattinson has Joey Tribbiani's 'smell the fart' acting down to a science.

by Anonymousreply 19611/20/2012

Kim Novak. Cannot sit through her fake doe eyes and pursed-lip attempt at acting.

by Anonymousreply 19709/12/2013

Misha Collins.

I really don't understand it. His acting range is very limited and he's a bore, although he tries SO hard to be edgy and daring.

He also holds his fans in contempt, and baits and taunts them. (Check his twitter.) Yet his stans lap it up, not realizing he is actually laughing at them.

Yet at the same time, I think Misha is amazed that he's achieved the level of fame he has. I think he's dreading the end of Supernatural, where he will quickly fade into obscurity once more.

by Anonymousreply 19809/13/2013

Orlando Bloom

Avoid his Romeo at all costs.

by Anonymousreply 19909/13/2013

No but obviously Cody Horn in Magic Mike. She was like a dementor, sucking the life and soul out of every scene.

by Anonymousreply 20009/13/2013

That`s easy-Bobby Canavale.

by Anonymousreply 20109/13/2013

Ben Affleck. He's not even good-looking.

by Anonymousreply 20209/13/2013

[quote]without question Diana Scarwid has delivered some of the most painfully amateurish line readings I've ever seen committed to celluloid. Sorry Diana, I am NOT... one of your FAAANNNS!

Were you basing this only on Mommie Dearest? She's been great in everything else I've seen her in. Mommie was so ineptly directed nobody could have given a good performance.

by Anonymousreply 20309/13/2013

Ali MacGraw Tom Cruise

by Anonymousreply 20409/13/2013

Cody Horn and Channing Tatum!

by Anonymousreply 20509/13/2013

James Brolin. A reviewer once said, "He's so wooden you want to spray him with Pledge."

Also, Morgan Fairchild.

by Anonymousreply 20609/13/2013

Glenn Close.

by Anonymousreply 20709/13/2013

Jimmy Smits. He's the only actor I know of who's more boring than Ben Affleck.

by Anonymousreply 20809/13/2013

Anyone who sees the "Employee Of The Month" episode of THE SOPRANOS and says that Lorraine Bracco can't act doesn't know what he's talking about.

by Anonymousreply 20909/13/2013

I was shocked to see her name on this list, R209.

by Anonymousreply 21009/13/2013

I actually find Keanu charming. I've met him twice. Once at a book store and he was buying Updike's Rabbit books. He was engaging and came across very intelligent. Gorgeous too. I'm not surprised he got a shot at stardom - again, he's actually much better looking in person, which is saying a lot. But he sustained it for so long! I mean, he is a damn terrible actor. And from 1994-2004 he was as A list as any actor. It was Cruise, Brad, Will and Keanu during that time period. 10 years! Amazing.
