Joe Biden is an Idiot
I'm glad he's an advocate of gay marriage, but the past few months have been a reminder of how insane he is. What is with all of the idiotic, easily misconstrued comments he's prone to making? And has he done a single thing to prove he's been an asset to Obama? Hell, he was even against the raid that killed OBL. Also, the numerous books about the Obama administration make it seem like the POTUS and his Veep don't even have much of a relationship.
At least his wife is effective in her position.
|by Anonymous||reply 92||03/22/2013|
the idea that he could become president is disturbing.
He reminds me of Bill O'Reilly.
|by Anonymous||reply 2||05/07/2012|
Yes, we need a war mongering Cheney-type.
|by Anonymous||reply 4||05/07/2012|
Well, the VP is basically a do-nothing position to begin with. You can't blame Biden for that.
You got used to Cheney. Before him, the VP really didn't do anything at all.
|by Anonymous||reply 5||05/07/2012|
his plugs n' botox n' caps combo -in addition to his deranged, unserious approach to what is going on in this country - during the last election cycle were alarming. Even McCain made a veiled joke about his botox during some inconsequential, staged debate. he is a stooge, he has no power.
|by Anonymous||reply 6||05/07/2012|
I really do think this was a trial balloon, for an administration that is going to have to deal with gay rights in the Democratic platform. Great idea to have Biden deliver the line, since then you can always run it back if the reaction is adverse.
|by Anonymous||reply 8||05/07/2012|
It is a technique of obfuscation to debate social issues - like gay marriage - while the freedoms cemented in the Bill of Rights is carefully dismantled and broken. What use is gay marriage when we are unable to speak freely, are humiliated at airports for no reason, when young people can't find work other than military slavery?
|by Anonymous||reply 9||05/07/2012|
You people are freeper plants. Biden is awesome and is a friend of the gays. I believe Joe would never be elected but could make a very good president. You don't get elected over and over to the Senate by being stupid.
|by Anonymous||reply 10||05/07/2012|
Oh, R10...you DO get elected to Senate by being stupid. Please turn on a television, after wiping the mucous from your lashes...thank you. I'm free, but I'm no freeper.
|by Anonymous||reply 11||05/07/2012|
Biden is a good man, and the idiot is the OP.
|by Anonymous||reply 12||05/07/2012|
There was a reason for Biden's gay marriage statement and denial by the administration. It was a set-up so pollsters will ask the question when surveying prospective voters. The results will determine whether Obama makes gay marriage part of his agenda for re-election.
|by Anonymous||reply 13||05/07/2012|
I believe Joe is a sincerely nice guy and also believes in gay marriage and is generally gay friendly. However, I also believe that after he made his comments on Sunday, he was called on the carpet by the White House and told he couldn't be speaking like that, appearing to speak on behalf of the administration.
|by Anonymous||reply 14||05/07/2012|
Didn't he have a brain tumor?
|by Anonymous||reply 15||05/07/2012|
OP pointed a finger without realizing that two fingers are pointing back to him.
|by Anonymous||reply 16||05/07/2012|
Joe Biden is a genuinely good guy. No, he isn't the sharpest guy in the room but honestly the VP doesn't have to be.
|by Anonymous||reply 18||05/07/2012|
[quote]I really do think this was a trial balloon, for an administration that is going to have to deal with gay rights in the Democratic platform. Great idea to have Biden deliver the line, since then you can always run it back if the reaction is adverse.
I do, too. Grandfatherly white Catholic guy says he's okay with it...run the numbers, see how it will play as part of the platform.
|by Anonymous||reply 19||05/07/2012|
And yet when he talks on a topic he knows he can seem very sharp. Maybe he's just repeating his adviser's briefs.
|by Anonymous||reply 21||05/07/2012|
R9 is correct. It's a way of seeming "gay friendly" for the Dem base without actually committing to progressive change. You "trial balloon" apologists have been saying that crap since Obama was elected. It's bullshit.
Obviously we have no choice but to vote for him. But this administration is hardly a bastion of liberal Democratic principles.
|by Anonymous||reply 22||05/07/2012|
Biden is brilliant and well loved on both sides of the aisle. A perfect VP. Gore was also a powerful VP. Gore was the first VP that mattered. Are there all twelve year olds on this thread?
|by Anonymous||reply 23||05/07/2012|
No one really thinks about Joe Biden, and no one really hates him.
OP is a Republican
|by Anonymous||reply 24||05/07/2012|
I saw it. Biden stated very clearly that he was not speaking for the Administration and was only expressing his personal thoughts on the subject. In fact, he did NOT say he was in favor of gay marriage, but stated that love was the key and wondered how anyone could look at the two adopted children of a gay couple he visited and see the love and question whether they were a family. He did say that he thought gay marriage was inevitable.
|by Anonymous||reply 25||05/07/2012|
R18 is right. I was acquainted with Biden for years, from his first term as senator, seeing him at parties, talking on the train, running into each other and having a quick meal or cup of coffee together at restaurants. He's genuinely nice, and genuinely interested in other people. I've spent quite a few hours talking with him over years and he always remembered my name, what we had spoken about last, and he very rarely made the slightest reference to his own work unless he was asked about it.
It's fair to say that he was not born with a brilliant intellect from early age, but he's one of those people who worked very hard to improve and inform himself, and he's very old fashioned in his sense of community service and in being decent and fair-minded toward others.
He's not a saint, nor perfect, nor a genius, nor is he a man above politics, but he's not an idiot nor insane. And I wouldn't say that he's insincere or posturing with regard to his recent comments.
|by Anonymous||reply 26||05/07/2012|
R22- neither was Abe Lincoln and slavery. Suggest you read a little history of how social change happens without throwing away those who are implimenting the change. Hint: never in history has it happened fast.
Those of us over age 30 who remmember when you would simply lose your job in corporate American or even at many universities if you came out- are not so fast to condemn Obama- who has done more for gay and lesbian rights than any President in history.
You don't seem to realize what is going on. Remember- to remain President, Obama has to capture the black and hispanic vote. And as you may know- they are not in favor of gay marriage rights- particularly blacks- thanks in large part of course to organized religion.
|by Anonymous||reply 28||05/07/2012|
With all his faults, Joe Biden is still better than the alternative (Sarah Palin).
|by Anonymous||reply 31||05/07/2012|
Unlike that whackadoodle nitwit from Alaska, Biden is an actual adult. I'm not worried about him being a stray chicken bone away from the White House at all.
|by Anonymous||reply 33||05/07/2012|
OP = F.A.R.T. These threads are ridiculously transparent.
|by Anonymous||reply 35||05/07/2012|
R34: From the thread
"EXPOSED: Secret Christian Group Truth4Time is infiltrating gay websites, maybe even Datalounge!"
We need a term for these people, similar to EST.
how about FARTs?
fundie asshole rightwing trolls
|by Anonymous||reply 36||05/07/2012|
Biden is a horrible centrist. We need a progressive VP, preferably a Hispanic woman from Florida.

[quote]Hell, he was even against the raid that killed OBL.
And the president was FOR it. Isn't that what actually counts?
|by Anonymous||reply 40||05/07/2012|
Thank you R36. Now I know what the other fart is.
|by Anonymous||reply 41||05/07/2012|
The bottom line is he shouldn't be undermining the Obama administration. He's not doing it intentionally, but he is still doing it.
The gay marriage comments were great, but I can understand the Obama administration being livid. If his Vice President can be in favor of it, then all arrows will be pointing as to why Obama isn't in favor of it.
Yes, Biden is a great guy. Yes, Biden often speaks the truth. But none of that matters when you're the Vice President. You answer to the President and follow his orders. They shouldn't have to backtrack so many times because you feel like saying whatever is off the top of your head. Your personal opinions aren't of any importance because it isn't your show.
He's a member of Obama's cabinet, point blank. And let's be real, if Hillary did the same thing so many times, some of you bitches would be screaming that she was trying to undermine Obama.
|by Anonymous||reply 42||05/07/2012|
He was undermining the president?
|by Anonymous||reply 43||05/07/2012|
I would take Joe Biden in the White House before a single Republican candidate from the least thirty years. No that is not hyperbole.
|by Anonymous||reply 44||05/07/2012|
R44= straw man.
No one here wants a fucking republican in the white house. They're modern day nazis.
But apologists also can't stop people from criticizing this president by calling everyone a freeper.
|by Anonymous||reply 46||05/07/2012|
he's trying to balance out the upcoming NC vote. It's a delicate thing, actually.
|by Anonymous||reply 47||05/07/2012|
Joe Biden has ALWAYS been an idiot. I am reminded of listening to his idiotic and mostly factually incorrect ramblings as he sat in committee on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee in the 1980s when I was a young lobbyist. We would all just look at each other in amazement at his buffoonery.
His staff was very helpful, nice and smart. So he had that which can cover a multitude of sins.
|by Anonymous||reply 48||05/07/2012|
I guess I'm not sure why Biden is being attacked? He's taken the proper stance. It's the President who needs to catch up.
A majority of the people support marriage equality, especially if you factor out all the racists and freepers who would never vote for Obama under any circumstances. The Prez could only help himself by stepping up.
|by Anonymous||reply 49||05/08/2012|
[quote]Biden hadn’t planned to make news about same-sex marriage or to endorse a position on the issue. The gaffe-prone vice president had been relatively on message for months. But on Sunday, he referred to the likely Republican presidential nominee as “President Romney” and to his own boss as “President Clinton.” And he inadvertently set off a frenzy on same-sex marriage, not because his position was surprising but because it made Obama’s look all the more absurd.
From the Washington Post today.
It was a mistake
He doesn't know who is President
Pretty much confirms that the guy is a total buffoon
|by Anonymous||reply 50||05/08/2012|
Strong, fact-based comeback
Guess it was difficult to come up with any examples to suggest he isn't a buffoon.....
|by Anonymous||reply 52||05/08/2012|
Joe Biden's Gay Marriage Comment Was No Gaffe
|by Anonymous||reply 53||05/08/2012|
Two of my favorite Bidenisms:
"Look, John's last-minute economic plan does nothing to tackle the number-one job facing the middle class, and it happens to be, as Barack says, a three-letter word: jobs. J-O-B-S, jobs."
Which is hilarious. He even repeats the word. The guy can't count past two.
"Hillary Clinton is as qualified or more qualified than I am to be vice president of the United States of America. Quite frankly, it might have been a better pick than me."
Well, at least he's honest.
Think about it. This idiot is a heartbeat from the presidency.
|by Anonymous||reply 54||05/08/2012|
[quote] I guess I'm not sure why Biden is being attacked?
It's just a bunch of right-wing tools doing the bashing.
|by Anonymous||reply 55||05/08/2012|
[quote]This idiot is a heartbeat from the presidency.
We had an idiot for President for 8 years before Obama, so I'm not sure where you are going with this.
|by Anonymous||reply 56||05/08/2012|
I love Joe Biden. He says what he thinks and if it comes off as a bit too much sometimes, well . . . fuck it. We need more politicians like that.
And he did make a point of saying he wasn't speaking for the administration on gay marriage. It was David Axelrod who looked like a moron for piping in and saying it was exactly the same position as Obama's. No, it isn't. Not in public anyway, and everybody knows it. So shut it, David. Let Joe speak for himself.
|by Anonymous||reply 57||05/08/2012|
I think Joe Biden is great! He's candid, even when it hurts him, and knows how the game is played, and how legislation gets accomplished. He seems smart in a core way about how shit works and is widely known as a very decent non-ideological person. Go Joe!
|by Anonymous||reply 58||05/08/2012|
Wasn't his conduct during the Anita Hill hearings less than measured?
|by Anonymous||reply 59||05/08/2012|
Biden reminds me of Gerald Ford -- universally acknowledged as a real nice guy without a lot of brains. That's fine in the Kiwanis Club, but not as Pres (actual or potential) of the USA.
|by Anonymous||reply 60||05/08/2012|
Funny how Republicans want someone smart in the White House so their choices were Bush, Palin, McCain and now Romney.
I think they need to give up this "intellectual" argument.
|by Anonymous||reply 61||05/08/2012|
I love Biden. I got to see Obama, Biden, and Hillary on campaign stops in 2008 and he was the most engaging speaker of the three. He seemed very relatable and less phony than Hil and O. I would love for him to run in '16.

Biden Jokes About His Gaffes: 'I Sometimes Say All That I Mean'
The White House has attempted to portray Vice President Joe Biden's endorsement of marriage equality as consistent with President's support for civil unions, but during a speech at a Rabbinical Convention Tuesday morning, Biden joked that his "gaffes" have more than a kernel of truth to them. "No one has ever doubted that I mean what I say. The problem is that I sometimes say all that I mean," he said to great laughter from the audience:

Let's see, senator from Delaware served as Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee -and- the Senate Judiciary Committee, two of the most difficult and prestigious posts in the Senate. He was reelected several times and had a bout with brain cancer. He used to commute daily from Washington to Delaware, his home state, rather than move to D.C. He's been a solid liberal/centrist senator and strong on gay and women's issues. He's not an idiot by any stretch.
|by Anonymous||reply 64||05/09/2012|
He is an idiot, and the fact that such an idiot could hold all those posts shows how weak our political system is, and how Republicans are able to get away with stealing elections and attacking the country on 9/11. They needn't fear exposure or resistance from these bird brains.
|by Anonymous||reply 65||05/09/2012|
There's something rich about DL posters calling Joe Biden an idiot.
|by Anonymous||reply 66||05/09/2012|
There is something smug and failure-oriented about R66, who doesn't want Joe Biden replaced with an actual progressive and vote-getter. It's as though you want Mitt Romney as president.
|by Anonymous||reply 67||05/09/2012|
Joe Biden voted for the PATRIOT Act and they didn't even have to send him an anthrax letter, that's what a weakling he is.
|by Anonymous||reply 68||05/09/2012|
He also voted for Bush's war on Iraq.
|by Anonymous||reply 69||05/09/2012|
VP Joe Biden is babbling his usial mindless nonsense proving he is a blabbering nincompoop and as usial the liberal leftists lap-dog press listens to his mindless ranting and tells this to the people who no longer trusts these lying journalists. Frankly Joe the Schmoe needs to have his head examened and those loose screws tightened

|by Anonymous||reply 72||08/15/2012|

|by Anonymous||reply 73||08/15/2012|
Wasn't it Chris Dodd who did that?

Joe Biden wanted us out of Afghanistan a long time ago. Obama's been dithering about it.
|by Anonymous||reply 76||08/15/2012|
I would put an IQ test between Dan Quayle, and Joe Biden. I bet Dan Quayle would win. Yet "Joe being Joe" in the media is another way of schilling for one side of a political party. Joe Biden has had two brain surgeries to remove brain tumours. Obama used Biden as VP to make Obama look smart!! WOW, the opposite of GWB, at least GWB isn't the one the inferiority complex. Biden is not right in the head. Obama is way over his head.
|by Anonymous||reply 77||08/20/2012|
Dan Quayle couldn't win that contest with a 90% head start. This Biden bashing is just a stupid right-wing meme, and any lefty who buys into it is a fucking idiot.
|by Anonymous||reply 78||08/20/2012|
R79, he was responding to the Republican demand that we "unchain Wall Street." They are the ones who brought up the chain imagery in an inappropriate context, not Biden.
|by Anonymous||reply 80||08/20/2012|
Besides, he's right. They do want to re-enslave African Americans. Indeed, everyone. Payday loans at 400% interest all around!
