Ann Curry Will Be Fired As Co-Host of the Today Show Because Everybody Hates Her

From Gawker:

Since she replaced Meredith Viera as co-host of the Today Show last June, Ann Curry hasn't exactly impressed. "Hopeless," a source close to NBC executives said to describe her co-hosting abilities. "Atrocious," said another. "Strained."

And those are some of the kinder ones. But it's become a foregone conclusion amongst network insiders who have been watching the Today Show's inner-circle implode that once NBC gives Matt Lauer his presumed mega-deal, Ann is a good as gone. And it might happen even sooner than that.

And, although it's not directly stated in the New York magazine piece about Laurer, this passage relays the grim prognosis for Curry a lot more gently than it could have:

Lauer's worth only increased when Meredith Vieira left and handed the co-anchor chair to Ann Curry, who in the eyes of many television-news executives has experienced a rocky transition to her new role.

The subtext of that "rocky" transition, according to sources, is that Matt Lauer just "absolutely hates her" as a co-host and is fed up with watching Curry turn what was once NBC's most charismatic and engaging program into a joyless slog.

"Everybody knows she's gone," said one source. "Everybody knows she's gone," said another. "Everybody knows she's gone," said another.

But, if Curry can keep her damaged ego in check, there is also talk of repositioning her at NBC News as some sort of special foreign corespondent so she can get back to doing the more serious journalism she covets—and to keep her far, far away from most of the people she's annoyed during her Today Show stint.

The rumored frontrunner to replace Curry as Lauer's sunshine sidekick is Savannah Guthrie.

by Anonymousreply 60112/28/2012

Even I could see this coming.

by Anonymousreply 103/27/2012

I like Savannah Guthrie.

Ann Curry- just no.

by Anonymousreply 203/27/2012

GMA is narrowing the gap of viewers between the two shows.

That might be a good excuse to get rid of her.

by Anonymousreply 303/27/2012

Oh goody!

Bye, Ann!

by Anonymousreply 403/27/2012

GMA & Today are awful cbs news' new am format is growing on me.

by Anonymousreply 503/27/2012

Always interesting to see Guthrie and Anne Kornblut on the same panel.

by Anonymousreply 603/27/2012

I'll believe this when the bitch is gone!!

by Anonymousreply 703/27/2012

Matt is not going to live up to that huge deal he is about to get. He cant work with anyone and GMA is about to surpass Today in ratings.

by Anonymousreply 803/27/2012

"there is also talk of repositioning her at NBC News as some sort of special foreign corespondent so she can get back to doing the more serious journalism she covets"

Are they serious? Did she look like someone who covets serious journalism when she touched Brad Pitt's face? Is she going to touch Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's face?

by Anonymousreply 903/27/2012

R9, Ann does lots of trips to Africa (Sudan) for stories on war, warlords, hunger.

And she takes other investigative trips to other countries.

by Anonymousreply 1003/27/2012

I like Anne Curry!

by Anonymousreply 1103/27/2012

Ann had been there forever by the time she replaced Meridith, and had already filled in as cohost numerous times. I can't believe there were any surprises about her by the time she became cohost. I largely stopped watching the Today Show because of its content. It does not even try to focus on the news the first half an hour anymore, often leading off with latest tabloid story of the month.

Also, it seemed to favor the Republican slant on the news more and more, and Laur seems incapable of doing an interview without his political slant showing. He is a horrible interviwer as well, but for different reasons. I have started watching the opening 15 minutes of CBS more frequently as well.

by Anonymousreply 1203/27/2012

R10 she is just like Anderson Cooper, window dressing as a journalist. But not having the depth and asking rather superficial questions.

by Anonymousreply 1303/27/2012

I'm sort of intrigued by how she soft balls and hard balls questions.

"President Amin. You hacked your wives to pieces, and had them sewn back together. My question, are you dating again?"

"Miriam Johnson. As the winner of the Pillsbury bake-off, how do you respond to charges that your toll house recipe has been handed down from the Nazis and contributed to the death of over seven million jews?"

by Anonymousreply 1403/27/2012

Katie left Matt. Meredith left Matt, Now Ann must leave Matt? I wonder if Matt might be the problem?

But seriously, if they're going to replace her they should get it done as soon as possible, ideally well before the show goes to London for the Olympics.

by Anonymousreply 1503/27/2012

Remember when the made her climb some mountain, and she got all sick, and dizzy?

by Anonymousreply 1603/27/2012
He is a horrible interviwer as well, but for different reasons. I have started watching the opening 15 minutes of CBS more frequently as well.

I think Matt is is unintentionally abrasive when asking questions and just in general. Id much rather Gayle King do an interview (who has way more experience behind a news desk).

Ann is a good journalist, she is just a fish out of water on morning TV.

by Anonymousreply 1703/27/2012
Ann is a good journalist

Her only experience is in local news.

No Washington experience, no foreign correspondence experience, no bureau experience.

by Anonymousreply 1803/27/2012

I was shocked Ann got the bump up. She had a hard time just reading the morning news. She always misspeaks.

I wish they'd do Lester Holt and Matt Lauer as partners. I don't care for Savannah. The woman who took Ann's place (name escapes me) is better than Savannah.

by Anonymousreply 1903/27/2012

They won't do it, but it'd be awesome if Today gave Tamron Hall a shot.

by Anonymousreply 2003/27/2012

Ann has class and is very professional.

by Anonymousreply 2103/27/2012

RE: Her only experience is in local news.

by Anonymousreply 2203/27/2012

R19 Natalie Morales

They might give it to her so they could appeal to the Latino viewing audience.

by Anonymousreply 2303/27/2012

I love Natalie Morales - I think she is hot and I am a gay guy. But they seem to be pushing Savannah with Matt more. She seems to do ok. I like Ann, but agree she is outside of her element as co-host.

by Anonymousreply 2403/27/2012

Good morning.

Good morning, Matt.

Good morning, Meredith.

Good morning, everyone.

by Anonymousreply 2503/27/2012

Will Savannah appeal to the fraus once they discover she's a homewrecker?

by Anonymousreply 2603/27/2012

Who the fuck watches those dumb morning shows? I and Everybody I know are in front of our laptops/Ipads/Iphones before heading out for work in the morning. I don't know anybody who sits with their morning coffee in front of the TV anymore, except my parents.

by Anonymousreply 2703/27/2012

Between Savannah and Norah O'Donnell (now of CBS), NBC News Execs had a brief period when they had NO problem getting their respective pinkies all stinky.

by Anonymousreply 2803/27/2012

Yikes. Ann is awk.

by Anonymousreply 2903/27/2012

R26, what do you mean about Savannah being a homewrecker? Haven't heard that one.

by Anonymousreply 3003/27/2012

R27 These morning shows bring in big bucks. The Today Show accounts for 1/3 of NBC total profits. Which is why Matt Lauer is able to demand 25 million dollars, which is not even 1% of the profits this show brings in.

The anchor's personality plays a part in the shows success. AM viewers don't like change, and it take a long time to gain a faithful viewers trust. Like a pair or worm slippers.

by Anonymousreply 3103/27/2012

Ann Curry is a good at what she does as long as she follows the script to the word. Unfortunately, she is incapable of not ad-libbing several times a minute. My guess is that she does it in a vain attempt to look human.

I've said it before: she has something on someone high-up at NBC. Otherwise, she would be long gone, and the producers would not find themselves sending her into war zones or for endless vacations in Antarctica; I imagine they've speculated about silver bullets and wooden stakes.

by Anonymousreply 3203/27/2012

R32, That would not keep anyone in a national news slot.

Jealous much?

by Anonymousreply 3303/27/2012
While covering the trial of Michael Jackson, Guthrie met English-born BBC News presenter Mark Orchard. After Orchard divorced his first wife, journalist Anne Kornblut, the couple married in December 2005.[4] The couple is now reportedly separated and Guthrie has since appeared on air without a wedding ring.

I've seen Kornblut and Guthrie on MSNBC together. I'm always curious if there's tension.

by Anonymousreply 3403/27/2012

Actually R32 what happened was she was upset being passed over the first time for co-host. The rumor was she was toying with idea of filing a race discrimination case with HR. She had a good case because she was on the show 10 years at this point, had seniority, and filled in many times for Katie. Now all of a sudden instead or hiring within, they go outside to replace Katie.

NBC acted before she could do anything by re-negotiating her contract so she could do all these overseas trips. They basically paid her off with these perks, in exchange for her not going public with her grievances.

They gave her the co-host spot to avoid another situation, and felt she probably had grown into the role filling in for Meredith.

Boy were they wrong

by Anonymousreply 3503/27/2012

Life is a battleground and it always will be.

by Anonymousreply 3603/27/2012

I think it was clear that giving Ann the anchor spot was just marking time while they built an audience for Savannah.

by Anonymousreply 3703/27/2012

I like Natalie Morales or Hoda Kotb. Hoda Kotb is a blast, I dont think Matt would be able to work with her.

by Anonymousreply 3803/27/2012

The Today show is too "national enquirer" to me now. They all these non essential stories like the tourettes teens from up state NY or the teacher who was a porn star on the internet. Then the right wing guests don't get the hard ball questions. Matt will ask a question that could open up a can of worms and he backs out.

Matt: "Mr. Cheney, what do you think about being considered a war criminal?"

Darth Vadar Cheney: "I don't think about it at all".

Matt: "Mr Cheney, is it true you spent Christmas at your ranch in Wyoming" (or where ever that evil fuck goes)

Matt also said at the very end of his Christie Brinkley interview, that his intention was to talk to her about Chicago, yet he let her babble on and on about her family problems.

Too tabloidy.

by Anonymousreply 3903/27/2012

Ann Curry has her problems, but I actually prefer her to Matt Lauer.

by Anonymousreply 4003/27/2012

Ann doesn't seem very bright. It seems like there's a lot she doesn't get. Like how to interview people. I hate it when she puts on her concerned face.

by Anonymousreply 4103/27/2012

Somebody at NBC must REALLY like Asian-Americans.

by Anonymousreply 4203/27/2012

Norah O'Donnell is an ICE QUEEN.

by Anonymousreply 4303/27/2012

I like Ann! She's not going anywhere. And if Savanah Guthrie were to replace her, there would lots of hard feelings with Natalie Morales, who should be the replacement if there were to be one.

by Anonymousreply 4403/27/2012

And they should also fire the set designer. That set with the lavender backdrop is just awful. What is it supposed to be? Why havent they changed it yet? Boo!

by Anonymousreply 4503/27/2012

I want a man. A sexy, young, vibrant man. Lauer is an old rooster who should be threatened with the stock pot instead of given a mega-deal.

by Anonymousreply 4603/27/2012

it'll be a debra norville caliber bloodbath for any woman sought to replace girl next door Ann Curry.

by Anonymousreply 4703/27/2012
girl next door Ann Curry.

You mean the cunt next door.

by Anonymousreply 4803/27/2012

The morning show format is outdated now....hey need to shake things up like CBS did.

by Anonymousreply 4903/27/2012

They will let Natalie be the main substitute for Brian Williams while they promote Savannah. Though I do agree that Hoda would be terrific. If Matt leaves, I think Hoda is who will become the main host.

by Anonymousreply 5003/27/2012

They need a woman who will smoke a cigarette with her anus.

by Anonymousreply 5103/27/2012

They won't let Natalie do anything of the kind. She's a prompter reader, not a real journalist, and can't pull that off (are we forgetting her stint on the Marriage Ref?). She will not be a primary sub for Brian, that's for sure.

by Anonymousreply 5203/27/2012

Is Brian Williams cut or uncut?

by Anonymousreply 5303/27/2012

I'd like to see them pick up Brianna Keilar from CNN.

by Anonymousreply 5403/27/2012
Who the fuck watches those dumb morning shows?

Yes! The Today Show is always blaring at my local Dunkin Donuts. The moronic silliness I've witnessed from the Today gang in the 3-4 minutes I'm in the store liquifies my brain and allows it to leak from my ears!

by Anonymousreply 5503/27/2012

An actual interest in the news could be the start of a refreshing trend.

by Anonymousreply 5603/27/2012

>>>>a source close to NBC executives said to describe her co-hosting abilities. Atrocious, said another. "Strained."

Hadn't they ever watched Ann before? This isn't anything new. She's always been bad.

>>>Lauer seems incapable of doing an interview without his political slant showing.

katie couric was the same way. The both of them can't ask a tough question without raising their voices and letting their bitter bitchiness shine through. They argue with the interviewee or try to put them in their place. They act like the person did something to them personally. Instead they should nicely let the person hang themselves or look like an idiot. It's obvious Matt doesn't want to be there and is only in it for the money. He is starting to be just like that other bitter asshole, his best friend bryant gumble. I read that matt was a real jerk to Christie Brinkley yesterday. Obviously his own anger at his numerous marriage problems was apparent in the interview. Despite the fact that the interview was supposed to be about Christie's play, Matt instead chose to turn it into a nasty interrogation about her divorce. He blamed her and asked her why she couldn't just ignore her ex husband who, despite a court order has been going on tv and slamming her or the fact that he's constantly behind on his court ordered child support. That's nice that matt thinks it's okay for a father to blow off child support and spend his money on women, alcohol, porn and hookers all while going on national tv a few different times to slam his ex-wife's parenting skills. And of course the interview was supposed to be about Christie's play

by Anonymousreply 5703/27/2012

r54 I think CNN should put Brianna Keilar on their morning show. She is awesome.

by Anonymousreply 5803/27/2012

Like Matt Lauer's wife is going to let him go with Savannah "Homewrecker Whore" Guthrie, who he fucked and who Mrs. Lauer has been screaming about ever since, including embarrassing her at functions?

THERE'S a return to the fabled professional "Today" atmosphere in the making.

(Got it now, R30?)

by Anonymousreply 5903/27/2012

Has anyone tried a chimpanzee?

by Anonymousreply 6003/27/2012

"President Amin. You hacked your wives to pieces, and had them sewn back together. My question, are you dating again?"

"I hate it when she puts on her concerned face."

by Anonymousreply 6103/27/2012

I prefer Natalie Morales, too.

I think she is more professional than "Savannah Guthrie." And cuter, too!

by Anonymousreply 6203/27/2012
They need a woman who will smoke a cigarette with her anus.

Sorry to tell you this, but Barbara Walters is already under contract with ABC.

by Anonymousreply 6303/27/2012

I like Ann. Get rid of Matt. He makes my butt itch.

by Anonymousreply 6403/27/2012

They need to pull in a fresh new face that no one has heard of. Just like GMA did years ago with Joan Lunden.

by Anonymousreply 6503/27/2012

Fiona the miracle dog is today's youtube sensation. She should test.

by Anonymousreply 6603/27/2012

Get rid of Fat Al, too.

by Anonymousreply 6703/27/2012

Yeah, I agree. Al is a troll

by Anonymousreply 6803/27/2012

Curry? I prefer cous-cous.

by Anonymousreply 6903/27/2012

She has no sense of humor and never really laughs or smiles.

by Anonymousreply 7003/27/2012

I actually prefer Charlie Rose and Erica Hill on CBS This Morning now over the others.

Charlie is a great presence to wake up to and always keeps the show sane and sound.

NBC in addition to their Curry problem also has to deal with the spectrum of all of their parent companies. Which is why we see nonstop Kardashians on Today (parent company owns E! and NBC)

by Anonymousreply 7103/27/2012

I love Erica Hill!

by Anonymousreply 7203/27/2012

She was born in 1956! Nobody likes her but at least she looks good for her age.

by Anonymousreply 7303/27/2012

I finally walked away from the TODAY show this week when the lead story being promoted was about Christie Brinkley and the 7:15 "guest" was Michelle Bachman. WTF!!!??? Is Christie Brinkley still relevant? Is Bachman?? Was she ever??? I switched to CBS and found INTELLIGENT CONVERSATION - no shark week, no bridal contests, no missing white girls du jour, and NO ANN CURRY trying to make sense of a teleprompter!

by Anonymousreply 7403/27/2012

R73 - Ann is pretty, but she's stiff as a board.

by Anonymousreply 7503/27/2012

R74, dont let the door hit you on the ass on the way out,

by Anonymousreply 7603/27/2012

I detest Matt Lauer. He's been absent so much in recent months I had hoped he was leaving. It's quite apparent that he hates Ann Curry. He is rude to her beyond belief, interrupts her mid-sentence and basically acts as if she isn't there.

Ann isn't terribly good at co-hosting, but I prefer her to him. Savannah gets on my nerves bc you can tell she's a bitch.

by Anonymousreply 7703/27/2012

Why are they offering Matt so much money, when he's hardly even on the show?

If Matt is getting the big bucks, he should show his ass up for work a little more often.

by Anonymousreply 7803/28/2012

I. Hate. Her. HATE. Flames. Side of my face. The heat of 1,000 white hot suns. Hate. She's like a daily urethra swab: unwelcome, painful, and unnecessary. She whines, is entitled, and has that faux sincerity thing ("ooooh, i'm leaning forward and nodding because I'm SO INTERESTED" all of which makes HER the story) down pat, but it's really just her desperation.

She could never get through a single news break without fucking up. And she said, on the air, that she was disappointed Meredith got the job over her -- something, while true, she should never have been allowed to say on the air. You work for TODAY, making shit loads of money. Whether or not you're bummed, be a fucking professional, you sanctimonious gasbag.

Hate her. HATE her. I stopped watching when Meredith left -- she alone was keeping me interested. Like Lauer okay, but I cannot abide Curry.

by Anonymousreply 7903/28/2012
worm slippers

This is a charming image.

by Anonymousreply 8003/28/2012

I like Matt well enough. I've said it before and I'll say it again: they should pair him with Willie Geist and replace Al with a chick if they don't want it to be a sausage fest. Savannah is just as bad as Ann.

Charlie Rose is far too old for morning "news." The other day they came back from commercial by playing Jimmy Fallon's Tim Tebowie character. The puzzled look on Charlie's face was priceless.

by Anonymousreply 8103/28/2012

"This is PRIME TIME TELEVISION here, folks!!"

by Anonymousreply 8203/28/2012

I thought NBC alleged that the ratings in their "core demographic", women 18-49, went up after weepy concern troll Ann took over. Isn't that all that matters to them?

by Anonymousreply 8303/28/2012

They should just get the Duggars to co-host. That way they can fellate that family every day instead of monthly when that mom pops out a new spawn.

by Anonymousreply 8403/28/2012

Too bad, I like Ann

by Anonymousreply 8503/28/2012

I love Charlie Rose and Erica Hill but I can't warm up to Gayle King. I hope CBS gets better ratings. There's too much fluff on GMA and Today.

Curry is terrivle at interviewing. How could NBC not see that when they offered her the job?

by Anonymousreply 8603/28/2012
"terrivle"?

Oh, dear.

by Anonymousreply 8703/28/2012

Matt Lauer has been doing all the "serious" interviews lately, while Ann Curry has been delegated to interviewing the "concerned" parents of pretty, blond girls in trouble.

by Anonymousreply 8803/28/2012

Egregious and inappropriate use of "oh, dear" at r87.

Get it together, queen.

by Anonymousreply 8903/28/2012

Hate Matt, dislike Curry but feel she was put into a role she was never going to succeed at. Love Natalie Morales. I thought Matt want Giada as co-host, at least that is what I've heard from and insider.

by Anonymousreply 9003/28/2012

She is a bright star...I would feel at ease if she was interviewing me...she cares about people...I like Matt lauer, ESP since it is rumored we have the same great grandfather...but if savannah gets Anns spot...I'll be done with today...don't like her..she has no class nor do I trust her..would refuse to be interviewed by her...

by Anonymousreply 9103/28/2012

This is satisfying news for all of us who have long loathed her. Not that they weren't warned; if they had just read DL now and again.

by Anonymousreply 9203/28/2012

What a cruel article. Human beings really love to destroy each other. I hate us.

by Anonymousreply 9303/28/2012
if savannah gets Anns spot...I'll be done with today...don't like her..she has no class nor do I trust her..would refuse to be interviewed by her...

Oh, well in that case -- if the bitch won't be able to interview Sheila, then she's no use to any network!

by Anonymousreply 9403/28/2012
they should pair him with Willie Geist and replace Al with a chick if they don't want it to be a sausage fest.

Two male co-hosts with a "weather chick" is a recipe for a sausage fest. A Fox sausage fest at that.

by Anonymousreply 9503/28/2012
Hate. Her. HATE. HER. Sanctimonious gasbag.

What R79 said times ten.

by Anonymousreply 9603/28/2012

R93, if by "us" you mean "you," I have to agree that I hate us, too.

by Anonymousreply 9703/28/2012
She had a good case because she was on the show 10 years at this point, had seniority

Is that all it takes??? Geez...

by Anonymousreply 9803/29/2012

I thought Matt had an affair with Natalie Morales. I think they should get rid of Matt as well and replace him and Ann with Willie G and Savannah. There've been rumors that they are grooming Willie to take over from Matt at some point anyway so just do it now. Have found myself switching over to CBS for the first 21 minutes as it's all straightforward news and interviews and no human interest stories that have crept to the forefront of Today's coverage.

by Anonymousreply 9903/29/2012

Where was Ms. Ann this morning?

by Anonymousreply 10003/29/2012

She was on assignment.

by Anonymousreply 10103/29/2012

"Good morning, good morning, and in the news this morning, good morning.."

by Anonymousreply 10203/29/2012

R100, Matt emailed Ann the link to this thread last night and the poor thing has been drowning her sorrows ever since.

by Anonymousreply 10303/29/2012

Don't even bother. Everyone watches Morning Joe until 9AM anyway.

by Anonymousreply 10403/29/2012

FOX and Fiends has higher viewership than Morning Joe.

by Anonymousreply 10503/29/2012

Ann Curry is back and Matt Lousy is off today. Hoda Kotb filled in for Matt.

by Anonymousreply 10603/30/2012

Even though it takes a while to adjust to it, I really like the CBS morning show with Charlie Rose and Gayle King. It makes you feel like you are friends with smart people.

by Anonymousreply 10703/30/2012

Only superannuated, brain-dead misanthropes watch FOX & Frienz.

by Anonymousreply 10803/30/2012

I would like to see Hoda with Matt

by Anonymousreply 10903/31/2012

I'm with 79 all the way!

by Anonymousreply 11003/31/2012

I hope a divine force intervenes and Hoda gets the job

by Anonymousreply 11103/31/2012

Ann is a serious journalist. Matt is all fluff. That's what is wrong with Today.

He should do the fluff fest and she should focus on the hard core journalism stuff.

by Anonymousreply 11203/31/2012

She is no Meredith Viera. Very difficult to watch her and listen to her talk.. Savannah Guthrie would be great!

by Anonymousreply 11304/20/2012
Ann is a serious journalist.

ROFLMAO! Serious journalists do not suck up to gay bashers like Kunt Cameron on camera. Serious journalists confront bigotry and ask the hard questions instead of fawning over their interviewees. Serious journalists do not wear their hearts on their sleeves and make the interview about themselves and their feelings. She is the farthest thing from a serious journalist on tv today.

by Anonymousreply 11404/20/2012

Try 'Morning Joe' for great political talk---if you can stand Scarborough.

by Anonymousreply 11504/20/2012

GMA the gay and minority channel. Robin shows her bias on issues, George, I like his wife, him not much.

I mostly watch FOX and Friends but am starting to like Charlie and Gayle if the can keep their bias in check.

by Anonymousreply 11604/20/2012

You watch Fox, R116, because OTHER shows show "bias"!?!

Oh the irony of the deluded DL fraus.

by Anonymousreply 11704/20/2012

Re "FOX and Friends" -- I put a block on that channel so that I can't even land on it when channel surfing. FOX "News" merely the broadcasting division of the The Republican Party.

It spews toxic mind rot everyday!

by Anonymousreply 11804/20/2012

R116 derides GMA as "the [bold] gay and minority channel"[/bold], for showing too much "bias", but sings the praises of FOX NEWS???

WTF happened to this place? Is there any way to make these homophobic freeper trolls go away??

by Anonymousreply 11904/20/2012

Not likely, r119. For most, this is their only chance to interact with normal people.

by Anonymousreply 12004/20/2012
Try 'Morning Joe' for great political talk---if you can stand Scarborough.

The same conversation day after day. It's the political dead season but they still have to fill three hours a day.

by Anonymousreply 12104/20/2012

by Anonymousreply 12204/20/2012

She's been on "vacation" all week. Matt was on "vacation" last week. Can't wait to see them reunited so Ann can gush about how great it is to be back together. Poor thing.

by Anonymousreply 12304/20/2012

"Bias" is a freeper codeword. I even see it used as an adjective by illiterate Internet commenters: "NPR is so bias [sic]!"

by Anonymousreply 12404/20/2012

That blonde Bush girl is worse than Ann, she is so stiff and has a weird speech impediment.

by Anonymousreply 12504/20/2012

R116 either is trolling or stupidly confused about her location. In either case, screw you, bitch.

by Anonymousreply 12604/20/2012

Has Ann been fired yet? I'm waiting.

by Anonymousreply 12704/21/2012

A whole lot of people are about to be fired at Today since GMA is now #1.

by Anonymousreply 12804/21/2012

Bitch is still there!

Think she'll make it to the end of the year?

by Anonymousreply 12904/21/2012

Ann was a placeholder. A Today reboot was planned for this year, once Matt's situation was worked-out.

If you watched over the years, you'll see that there was one bright side to Ann's promotion, for both the viewers and the producers. Today anchors get (and take) plenty of time off, and they rarely appear after the second hour of the show.

During Ann's tenure as the newsreader, she did her best to fill in for the hosts as often as possible, with the goal being that she would eventually be made host.

So the bright side of the last year has been much less airtime for Ann. They no longer have to do things like shipping her to Antarctica or a war zone to get her off-camera.

Now they'll get the chance to innocently replace her with someone competent without displeasing her fans.

You have to hand it to Ann, though. Of all of the people who have ever hosted this kind of show, she has done the most to earn the description "anchor."

by Anonymousreply 13004/22/2012

I must be missing something, I think Ann is great if matts the problem get rid of him

by Anonymousreply 13104/23/2012

why would they let the girl who married that brady guy on a news show.

by Anonymousreply 13204/23/2012

One of the Duggar kids is going to be her replacement.

by Anonymousreply 13304/23/2012

I have also thought that Ann was just a placeholder. If Lauer had not signed a new contract they would have come up with a new anchor team. Why get someone who has chemistry with Lauer and then have him leave a year later? With the fall in ratings and Lauer in place, they will probably get someone who clicks with him and can carry the show when he is off. But what they really need to do is cut back on the trashy stories, slow down the pace and do the stories and interviews that made people watch in the first place. Keep fashion in the third hour only and one cooking segment only in the whole show.

by Anonymousreply 13404/23/2012

Do you think Ann will cry when they tell her to fuck off?

by Anonymousreply 13504/23/2012

Ann is the best thing the Today Show has going for it.

by Anonymousreply 13604/24/2012

Savannah Guthrie looks like a chick with a dick. Matt hit that? How gross there are streetwalkers in Manhattan that are way cuter than that thing. I wonder if Ann is going to stay at NBC in any capacity. They'll probably shove her off to Dateline to do Predator Raw or something like that.

by Anonymousreply 13704/24/2012

Natalie is the only good replacement for Ann, both Katie and Meredith were the best....ann is way too boring and has no natural funny in her, she tries too hard to fit in and it just doesn't work......Natalie would be a great fit ......

by Anonymousreply 13804/25/2012

Guthrie just doesn't fit either, no harm meant but she always looks awkward, better than Ann but i still say Natalie will be the best fit. easy on the eyes and funny have to go with who fits not who is next in line.....i have not enjoyed the today show since Ann joined Matt.....

by Anonymousreply 13904/25/2012

I hope the today show ppl read all of these as we know best, we r the ppl who watch and lately I have not enjoyed the today show with Ann.....she is best at serious news, she is not funny at all, and tries way too hard which we all see..... Get Natalie Morales in that seat and watch the ratings go up up up......

by Anonymousreply 14004/25/2012

I don't dislike Ann, but find her out of her element with Matt. I seem to watch the show less and less all the time. I don't care for Savannah Guthrie and think Natalie would be a better replacement for Ann. But it appears as though they have Savannah fill in for Ann's absences more than Natalie.

by Anonymousreply 14104/30/2012

Looks like r138, r139, and r140 is the Ann Curry Troll!

by Anonymousreply 14204/30/2012

It appears that GMA won the ratings race last week.

Poor Ann :(

by Anonymousreply 14304/30/2012

Ann is going to do a "Deborah Norville" -- go off on assignment or maternity leave -- and never come back!

by Anonymousreply 14404/30/2012

Right, R142!

PPL! Funny PPL! Which Ann Curry is not so she should give her seat and watch ratings go up up...

What an idiot.

by Anonymousreply 14504/30/2012

Ms. Curry was completely left out of the Today Show coverage of Betty Windsor's Jubilee, going away "on assignment" while Matt Lauer covered the event with Meredith Vieira (who came out of retirement for this occasion).

by Anonymousreply 14606/06/2012

The rapport between Matt and Meredith totally underscored the lack of chemistry between Ann and Matt. I also saw Amy Robach's first report last week on ABC since she jumped ship from NBC and could only ask myself how is Matt able to bag all these pretty women? His days of freshness abandoned him years ago.

by Anonymousreply 14706/06/2012

I thought Ann's absence seemed suspicious too.

by Anonymousreply 14806/06/2012

Didn't Lauer have an affair with Natalie and then a bitter split? That might be why she doesn't fill in.

by Anonymousreply 14906/06/2012

Why didn't they send Ann over to London? Assignment my ass!

Isn't Meredith doing Olympics coverage with Matt, too?

by Anonymousreply 15006/06/2012

Yep, they announced that Meredith is going to be covering the Olympics a couple weeks ago.

by Anonymousreply 15106/06/2012

Is Ann dislike behind the scenes? For all of the criticism of her on air abilities, we don't hear much about her off camera beyond the fact that Lauer hates her.

by Anonymousreply 15206/06/2012

I would laugh if Meredith came back full-time.

by Anonymousreply 15306/06/2012

Apparently Matt had sexy times with both Natalie and Amy. Natalie is still a solid part of the crew so I don't know how acrimonious their split was. I believe that was more regarding his and Amy's split since she thought she would get some sort of promotions for cock doggin' him. And isn't she married to Andrew Shue? Fuck Wisconsin! This is the real important news.

by Anonymousreply 15406/06/2012

yes r154. Andrew was at Amy's goodbye, along with their combined family, a couple of weekends ago.

by Anonymousreply 15506/06/2012

I really cannot see Natalie screwing around with Matt. I can see it with Savannah!

by Anonymousreply 15606/06/2012

Now when we find that Lester and Matt have been doing the hokey pokey that would be real news! Although Lester hasn't looked hot in awhile. He was dreamy up until about a year ago. Maybe Matt and Peter Alexander would work.

by Anonymousreply 15706/06/2012

I like Natalie Morales - she has a certain gravitas (for a morning show news anchor) and I think they'd make a big mistake giving Ann's job to Savannah, who tries hard, but can't cut it.

by Anonymousreply 15806/06/2012

Miley Cyrus getting engaged was one of three lead stories on the show this morning. You're looking for gravitas? Really?

by Anonymousreply 15906/06/2012

No one can do a pretty, blond girl in trouble story like Ann Curry.

by Anonymousreply 16006/06/2012

Miley was also top on ABC but they at least have the advantage of having a panel who appear to like one another.

by Anonymousreply 16106/06/2012

Well done, R130 - esp. that last line :)

by Anonymousreply 16206/06/2012

What is that, R162 @ R130? Like an anchor dragging down the ship?

by Anonymousreply 16306/07/2012

Matt Lauer was off again today.

by Anonymousreply 16406/08/2012

Bitch is hanging on, ain't she?

by Anonymousreply 16506/08/2012

Yup, R165. Just like a cojoined twin.

by Anonymousreply 16606/08/2012

Probably not much longer. Look for her to become a special correspondent for Dateline and the still-born Brian Williams newsmag. That would be my guess. She'll announce that the morning grind had become too much and the change will allow her to focus more on her Darfur stories.

by Anonymousreply 16706/08/2012

Word from a friend who works on the broadcast is that Ann will be around through the Olympics, but then will be gone. TPTB would LOVE to have Meredith back, and that might happen. Ann is well-liked (as a person) behind the scenes, and very well-like by the audience, but not at all respected by her co-workers. She just has too many screw-ups to let her co-host the show much longer, but they will work something out that lets her save face.

by Anonymousreply 16806/08/2012

Poor Lester was such a professional this am dealing with batty Aunt Annie who can't get through a sentence without some sort of mistake. Maybe the countdown to her on air demise is getting to her but it's so hard to watch.

by Anonymousreply 16906/08/2012

The writing is on the wall for Ann.

Not sending her to London, or the Olympics has to be a major blow to her ego.

Let's see what happens this fall.

by Anonymousreply 17006/08/2012

She makes me nervous because she stumbles to much. I was surprised when they gave her the promotion in the first place.

by Anonymousreply 17106/08/2012
TPTB would LOVE to have Meredith back, and that might happen.
Seriously, R168? I thought Meredith was sick of the hours. Is she really considering coming back? Are they offering her a ton of $$$ or a reduced schedule or what?

by Anonymousreply 17206/08/2012

I don't hate her so much as I hate the way she is.

by Anonymousreply 17306/08/2012

I thought that Matt and Meredith didn't really get along??? On another note, Ann was particularly bad this AM - she seemed lost.

by Anonymousreply 17406/08/2012

Matt really likes Meredith and thinks that they made a good team. The audience liked them together, too. He has said that he was annoyed at her for not fully embracing the role and making it her own--she acted like a fill-in who didn't really belong there which bugged Matt and producers. Maybe if she comes back, she'll have a "This is MINE!" attitude instead of feeling like a pretender.

by Anonymousreply 17506/08/2012

I always liked them together, but thought I saw something here to the contrary.

by Anonymousreply 17606/08/2012

If Ann ain't going to the Olympics then it's over for her. During her tenure GMA has had a few ratings victories which they haven't had since 1996.

by Anonymousreply 17706/08/2012

It is hard to watch Ann try to kid with Matt and Al . . . Matt gets this sour look on his face and does everything but roll his eyes. I love Ann, she seems like a great lady, but I do not think she is co-host material. She is obviously on her way out ... In the mean time BE NICE Matt !

by Anonymousreply 17806/17/2012

She's done:

by Anonymousreply 17906/20/2012

by Anonymousreply 18006/20/2012

Give Matt credit, though. He's trying to pin the blame for their ratings slippage on himself. Very honorable.

by Anonymousreply 18106/20/2012

Paula Zahn would be the best person to replace Ann.

by Anonymousreply 18206/20/2012

Am I the only one finding Ann LESS annoying?

I guess she knows it's over, so why try so hard.

by Anonymousreply 18306/20/2012

I like Ann Curry; I always have. It's not her fault that Today's rating's are slipping. It's Matt Lauer's fault. Anyone ever consider that Matt has turned into a big bore?

Besides, it's still not Ann's fault. It's the Today producers who have turned the show into schlock the past year or so.

by Anonymousreply 18406/20/2012

Bless her heart with faux sympathy.

(I'm making a trademarked Ann Curry "faux sympathy®" face right now.)

by Anonymousreply 18506/20/2012

I hope they don't replace her with Savannah - it is a step in the wrong direction. I really dislike her. I can tolerate Ann, but not her. And NO, I am NOT Natalie Morales, but I think she's great.

by Anonymousreply 18606/20/2012

I find Savannah so awkward - you'd think she'd be comfortable with her height by now. Thank God It seems like she's gotten a stylist lately since at least she's dressing better - her skirts were always too short or her coats were shorter then her skirt. And she's got thick calves. Go ahead, call me shallow, but she acts like a shy, geeky 16-year-old.

by Anonymousreply 18706/20/2012

She IS very tall!

by Anonymousreply 18806/20/2012

I like Ann, I think the nbc needs to quit all the tabloid and report the news thats why I change to CBS

by Anonymousreply 18906/20/2012

I like Ann Curry, but she is not cut out for an anchor job. She is way too serious, frequently flubs her lines, and does not look like she is having fun. I really miss Meredith Viera, and wish she had stayed, but I understand that she had to be there for her husband. On another note, Matt Lauer is not so great either-he panders too much (meaning kiss-ass), and thinks he is such a star-NOT! Get new people with real chemistry and I will continue to watch.

by Anonymousreply 19006/20/2012

I've always liked Matt. But no longer. His interviews aren't stimulating, insightful or interesting.

Keep Ann...and add another guy perhaps in addition to Matt since they can't get rid of him after just signing a new contract.

What's with all the women co-hosts for four friggin hours? And now they want to blame Ann? Please. It's hardly her fault.

by Anonymousreply 19106/20/2012

Matt just signed a huge new contract; he's not going anywhere.

Can they stage a telethon to purchase lips for Savannah?

by Anonymousreply 19206/21/2012

Damn, R192. Now that is funny.

by Anonymousreply 19306/21/2012

Savannah is kind of annoying, too.

Poor Natalie. Will she be a newsreader forever?

by Anonymousreply 19406/21/2012

I read R192's post before Today started this AM and went on "lip watch" for Savannah. I was actually late for work waiting. Damn, it's true. Bitch got no lips!

by Anonymousreply 19506/21/2012

NBC might examine the "real" reason that their ratings have plummeted. It all began during Meredith's tenure. She often referred to President Obama as simply Obama, clearly disrespecting his position and person. Both she and Matt were clearly one sided in their reporting of politics; specifically Right wing. While everyone has right of self expression, there is no room for that as an anchor or co-anchor of a prominent television show. My family and friends began disengaging from the "Today Show" during Meredith's tenure and has continued until this unfortunate replacement of Ann. This is a tragedy!

Bob H.

by Anonymousreply 19606/22/2012

60 Minutes Lara Logan is perfect.. smart, talented, experienced in the field, warm and engaging in every piece I've seen her do for CBS. If she only wasn't under contract (hoping).

by Anonymousreply 19706/22/2012

I certainly hope and pray that she fails safely. She has taken on the most difficult news reporting jobs to be done on that show for years. You talk about a disaster and who would be there? Ann Curry. I appreciate her for that. I also appreciate her caring and show of compassion. She is a human being.

I think the Today show would be doing itself a disservice. Why not give her a comfortable makeover and whatever else she might be missing. This would be one time for a network to show that it too has some loyalty. Remember when that was a real word. Loyalty to one's employer. Well, we can see why that is no longer a fact. Employers, for a very long time, care very little about their employees. Too bad and So Sad America. And, by the way, I think Mr. Lauer is a BIG PHONEY.

by Anonymousreply 19806/22/2012

Ann boring but Savannah obnoxious!

by Anonymousreply 19906/22/2012
I also appreciate her caring and show of compassion.

Yes, her love and compassion for that vile gay basher Kunt Cameron was truly inspiring. I'm surprised she didn't put him in her lap for the love fest she was putting on for him. She is the embodiment of the DL concern troll. She cannot be off that show quickly enough.

by Anonymousreply 20006/22/2012

She may be a nice person, but she does not work in the co-host position. She never has when subbing for others. She is awkward- too eager, asks closed ended questions, talks too much, stumbles on words.

This article from some time ago is mean. I doubt people "hate" her. Silly. Rather she is just not the right person for the job. I could have told them. I was surprised when they gave it to her because she has always been the weak link on the show in my opinion.

But hate- poor woman. Not nice stuff to see written about yourself. I doubt she is a mean or shrewish person behind the scenes.

by Anonymousreply 20106/22/2012

I don't think Meredith wants to come back to Today, and that's a good thing. She was horrible. That smart ass smirky thing was so unappealing, and her only concept of "news" was repeatedly interviewing that unfortunate woman whose face was eaten off by the chimp.

Ann should go report from the field, where she's happiest.

Today has become a tabloid mess. Whoever thought bringing on Palin was a good idea should be fired.

by Anonymousreply 20206/22/2012

I must not be watching the same show as the rest of you. I love Ann Curry, her down-to-earthness, her beauty, her tough questioning, her heart for people. I will be very sorry if she leaves.

by Anonymousreply 20306/22/2012

Ann is a sweetheart, but clearly struggles in her current role. Hope they can find something for her in her sweet spot. They need to man up and go get Katie!

by Anonymousreply 20406/22/2012

Not Savannah!!!! They should use the next few months to rotate several of their people including Natalie Morales. She's fantastic!! NBC should wait on announcing the replacement until after the Olympics!!!!!

by Anonymousreply 20506/22/2012

Get rid of Lauer keep Curry!!! Sick of Matt and his investigating reporting!! Going to GMA.

by Anonymousreply 20606/22/2012

They need to get rid of Matt is what they need to do. Annoying little worm of a man.

by Anonymousreply 20706/22/2012

Are they going to get Matt a stepstool to stand on? Savannah is going to tower over him!

by Anonymousreply 20806/22/2012

Savannah is gigantic and has no lips. A HUGE Mistake!!!

by Anonymousreply 20906/22/2012

If Savannah is given the co-host spot watch for Today to drop to number 2, and GMA to go to number 1

by Anonymousreply 21006/22/2012

Matt's interview with Madonna whatshername who lost her three daughters and parents in the fire in Stamford was quite good.

by Anonymousreply 21106/22/2012

She seems to be the same person she always was in her years on the show, so I'm not sure why anyone would be surprised be her performance now.

Lauer is the one who seems to have taken a turn for the worse. Incredibly arrogant asshole.

by Anonymousreply 21206/22/2012

I like Ann and am sorry to see her go

by Anonymousreply 21306/22/2012

I'm not a fan of Lauer's but if his co-host isn't up to muster that leaves him carrying the show. As nice as Ann may be, she is not suited for this job. Her interviews made me cringe. I really can't blame Matt.

That said, watch CBS in the morning. It is so much better than the other two fluff fests.

by Anonymousreply 21406/22/2012

What else is new?

by Anonymousreply 21506/22/2012

I've started watching the first half hour of the CBS morning show before work. I like that better than Today or GMA.

by Anonymousreply 21606/22/2012

Ann is an excellent and serious journalist type. Her years of reporting for the Today Show have been thorough and well done pieces. The Today Show has gone to cooking segments and fashion and away from serious news. I agree with many Matt may be the problem. I was thrilled when Ann took over from Meridith, what did she bring but game show experience. Time to get serious in the newsroom or the ratings will continue to go down, I have cook books, email and such, tell me what I really need to know.

by Anonymousreply 21706/22/2012

I really liked Ann Curry when she did the news and special reporting. But in her rtole as co-anchor, she always seems to be in a hurry and often stumbles over her own sentences. She and Matt have always seemed uncomfortable together, even before she was co-anchor, so I am not surprised that there is mo spark now.

Matt is great on the show and if they lose him, the Today show is toast.

I have no ideas abour a replacement for Ann. If Katie were available I would think she'd be great coming back to that role. The Today show needs someone with a strong personality and great interviewing skills, and I don't know of anyone out there like that.

by Anonymousreply 21806/22/2012

Ann needs to save face by leaving the show ASAP. This death watch until after the Olympics is humiliating. I must admit that I tuned in this AM to see if she would crack under all the scrutiny. I'm sure I'm not the only one.

I'm not an Ann fan but it was cruel to leak this info to the press. People at NBC must really hate her.

by Anonymousreply 21906/22/2012

Just read some of the interview that Ann gave to Ladies Home Journal.

She wants to stay for another five years, and that ain't gonna happen.

I guess this is a prime case of careful what you wish for!

by Anonymousreply 22006/22/2012

While NBC is doing this, can they somehow get that annoying dumbass GENNA WOLF OFF THE AIR???

by Anonymousreply 22106/22/2012

How about Jane Pauley or Katie Couric making a comeback?

Lauer need to re-grow what's left of his hair. He looks really shitty these days.

by Anonymousreply 22206/22/2012

I,D have to say Ann Currie is the only class act on the morning Today show period. Matt L. Is a joke and pompus ass in my opiniun. What they need to do is elevate Ann C. And get rid Matt L. And give the show its serious journalism status it once had again. Ann Currie is a beautiful, inteligent, and all around sophisticated woman, who in my opinion, gives the Today show its only touch of class it has.

by Anonymousreply 22306/22/2012

by Anonymousreply 22406/22/2012

Totally agree about Jenna Wolf - a bigger problem than Ann Curry, but contained to Sundays. I am ever fearful they will add Saturdays since Amy left. Talk about a train wreck!

by Anonymousreply 22506/22/2012

They are trying to appeal to the Young Generation with youngish Jenna Wolf. She sits next to old man Lester. I wonder what he's thinking...

by Anonymousreply 22606/22/2012

Love Lester Holt. He is well spoken, knows the news and reports accordingly. About 90 per cent of time NBC has him on, let's just get rid of everybody else and have him. If the Today Show stayed away from the tabloid news, it could be cut to 1 hour everyday.

PS, let Kathy Lee drink (at home)!

by Anonymousreply 22706/22/2012

Could they please get rid of Al Roker as well. He is the biggest waste of air time. Reporting the weather as news is fine. Hurricanes, floods, etc. But on the rare occasion he might mention the west coast, it is rarely close to the local report "in my neck of the woods." Yet they try to make a big deal about him around 7:10 calling him Mr. Roker. Even worse are the 8:00 hour when they talk to the folks in the one cares who he finds to talk to. CBS News got it right. No outside shots. No national weather. Real news in the first hour and the 90 second update in the beginning. Charlie Rose and Erica Hill are reporting real news stories, not a televised National Enquirer.

by Anonymousreply 22806/23/2012

I don't think everyone hates her. She does however get a ittle syrupy in the interviews with any tragic circumstances. I hope people check out the CBS morning show. Now that Today is nothing but diet/fashion with some diet information and fashion tips :) and GMA has gone to an all-celebrity all the time format, CBS The Morning looks great. They do real news and there are no drippy interviews. Charlie Rose, Gayle King, and Erica Hill are a delight without being in each other's faces all the time. Check it out.

by Anonymousreply 22906/23/2012

I think Ann is great! I would prefer to watch Ann than Matt. At least she is genuine and real rather unlike Katie and Meredith. NBC will be making a huge mistake if they fire Ann. Maybe Matt is the reason the show is not doing well.

by Anonymousreply 23006/23/2012

So upset to think of Ann leaving. I have noticed that Matt smiles way roo much when Ann speaks, almost smirking. Thought he was going. I love Hoda but REFUSE TO WATCH the fourth hour as I find Kathy too annoying. Sad as I adore Hoda and Ann. Send Matt on his way. Lester will be a perfect replacement. I have been watching GMA more. This may be perament Ann goes. Let Hoda come baxk minus her side kick. A kick in the side is just what Kathy is. Annoying as is Matt.

by Anonymousreply 23106/23/2012

Maybe they will hire Oprah - she must be getting hungry.

by Anonymousreply 23206/23/2012

This is very bad for NBC. I mean, I've always found Ann unwatchable, but even I am now pulling for her.

Prediction: they snip the cord very quickly to stop the bleeding. Next week?

by Anonymousreply 23306/23/2012

I was wondering if I was the only one feeling that way, R233. When I read that she showed up to work (unexpectedly) the day after the story broke I felt bad for her. She seems like a nice person. It's such a cruel business. She has a nice speaking voice, though.

by Anonymousreply 23406/23/2012

Funny how such a benign cunt is so universally hated. She's worse than 9/11.

by Anonymousreply 23506/23/2012

I like Ann Curry, she is smart, and pretty. Matt Lauer is why I don't watch the today show!! they should replace him then I'll watch the show. Meridith Viera, really sucked as the co-host glad she is gone.

by Anonymousreply 23606/24/2012

I would expect NBC is going to hire an unknown (ala Jane Pauley in 1976) who is 25-30 and would fit nice with Daddy Matt.

by Anonymousreply 23706/24/2012

Ann Curry and I cut our journalistic "teeth" together on our first overseas assignment to Nicaragua during the war. Whether you're happy she's leaving or sad, trust me; Ann will be just fine. She is a journalist first. Celebrity runs a distant second. When I visited her years ago shortly into her tenure at the Today show, I asked her what she thought of all the "star" stuff. Her reply was telling: "I've been handed the brass ring. I didn't ask for it, but I'm grateful. I will stay on the carousel as long as they want me, and when they don't, I'll let it go, and something else to do." She's always had her priorities straight, and that will never change. In fact, I'd be willing to bet that in many ways, leaving the Today Show would be a welcome relief to her.

by Anonymousreply 23806/24/2012

Tiger mom say Ann should kill herself since her failure bring shame to family.

by Anonymousreply 23906/25/2012

Ann doesn't read well and I'm sure they're paying her a hefty sum to not read well and thinks she's better than everyone. I don't like Natalie, she's a priss, lil Miss perfect. Savannah is good. Matt is good, but they all get paid too much and then try to act like they're one of us.

by Anonymousreply 24006/25/2012

Who wants to watch a news show that treats its people like dirt. What will they do when they get rid of Ann and the ratings go down. We have no respect for NBC for what they have done. They need to focus on what they used to do best and stop trying to cram in a lot of stuff just to have what other shows have. They give ex-convict Martha Stewart and the gals that drink on TV (Hoda & Kathy Lee more respect than a hardworking journalist. Its easy to get on the band wagon because it look like a done deal but it takes guts to stand in the face of right. NBC is wrong as wrong can be and I hope Ann does well and buries NBC. She is a scapegoat for the problems others have created.

by Anonymousreply 24106/25/2012

Ugly, well if all of you were old enough to remember the deep pain that Willie did to Willard Scott with Brian Gumball about Willard, and his (Willie's)e mail was made public, that indeed was painful.Wille the weather man that is and has been for some time. Not much has that studio--same o, same o.

I complained many years about Ann, her lack of manners, eating first and drinking first, putting her hands on all the men, Brad Pitt(just one) and standing as close as she can with men whom I am sure could throw up from her sugar sweet attitude and stares, her over concerned face with problems, and her same ole "how are you doing now?"never ending questions. Ah my, whom hired the witch in the first place? You are paying for your mistake now. Ann can now sit home get her contract and get unemployment. As no one wants her staring face, and fake words in their faces. If you are dead, she is leaning in your dead face, and is saying,"well how did it feel, to die?" I simply can not stand her. Katie stood up for herself, so did Meredith, Ann always hanging onto Meredith pulling for her job.... Well guys at Today, I told you so a long time ago. You did not listen. My adivse is to start listening to those around you more. Especially the ones whom have to work with the newbie. Good bye forever Ann Curry, thank You God.

by Anonymousreply 24206/25/2012
CBS The Morning looks great. They do real news and there are no drippy interviews. Charlie Rose, Gayle King, and Erica Hill are a delight without being in each other's faces all the time. Check it out.

Charlie Rose always looks horribly hung over. He seriously looks like an old drunk.

by Anonymousreply 24306/25/2012

Good, she is boring. Merideth

was funny. Ann, soooo boring.

by Anonymousreply 24406/25/2012

Savannah would be worse! They need to get someone with some charisma and revamp the ho hum format,

by Anonymousreply 24506/25/2012

I am done with the today show if Savannah Guthrie replace Ann Curry, where did she come from any way? Why is it that the females are always leaving, what about the non caring ego centric males? How do they know the the ratings did not drop because of Matt?

by Anonymousreply 24606/26/2012

I am going to miss Ann Curry! She is one the classiest ladies in Journalism. I feel bad for her she just got the job a year ago and I don't believe it is her fault that they have lost ratings. They are making a mistake letting her go. I watched the Today show more because I like her and she is so professional. I think it is totally classless the way they are treating her and if she leaves I will be switching to GMA!

by Anonymousreply 24706/26/2012

When Ann leaves I'm gone too. Period. Done. Gone. b'bye. After 40+ years of faithfulness to NBC it's a good time to move on.

Personally, NBC set Ann up in the co-host position in prep to get rid of her. If that wasn't the plan, then I think one has to take a serious look at who is making the bad decisions at NBC. Get rid of that person. Apparently they have no foresight.

Natilie should have had that spot. Hands down. Ann does a nice job at the news desk. Savannah has to be a relative of an NBC executive, if you know what I mean. Hoda belongs with Kathie lee (not Regis) Hoda and Kathie lee are a good mix because Kathie lee is full of herself and Hoda puts balance into the segment. A combo of Regis and Kathie Lee will be the final nail in NBC's coffin. Regardless, I will stay until Ann's last day then I will join the CBS and CNN networks for real news and less entertainment.

by Anonymousreply 24806/26/2012

I could not agree more, R248.

by Anonymousreply 24906/26/2012
When Ann leaves I'm gone too. Period. Done. Gone. b'bye. After 40+ years of faithfulness to NBC it's a good time to move on.

Nobody gives a shit. If you're not a Nielsen family, no one will know nor care whether you watch or don't watch. But enjoy working yourself up into a rage over someone so untalented and phony as that lachrymose frau.

by Anonymousreply 25006/26/2012

For all the immature or rude comment makers Ann Curry has done as well as all the other co hosts on today. NBC had to put the blame on someone for their low ratings and unfortunately Ann was targeted. I read those comments with the swear words in them, which to me is so disrespectful. That's the down fall of this country are the ignorant disrespectful punks that they themselves are losers to make comments like that. Grow up already. Ann keep up the good work. You are NBC's scapegoat. I throughly enjoyed watching you on today. You will be missed.

by Anonymousreply 25106/26/2012

I think Ann was always seen as a placeholder in this job. The network didn't know what was going to happen with Matt. If he didn't renew then why bother finding a good, well matched co-host for him only to have him leave a year later and be stuck with someone who worked well opposite him but who they would now be stuck with for several years without him. If Matt left, then they would now be replacing both Matt and Ann with a new team. And promoting Ann was a good way to appease her fans who felt she should have been given a shot when Katie left.

by Anonymousreply 25206/26/2012

I like Anne Curry, she will be missed by me.

by Anonymousreply 25306/26/2012

Her adoration of Kurt Cameron was the last straw. She does not have the ability to nor interest in asking challenging questions. She is much more comfortable worshiping any and every celebrity she is presented with. She is the farthest thing from a newswoman. She belongs on Entertainment Tonight.

by Anonymousreply 25406/26/2012

'Today' just won the Emmy. How can they justify firing one of the co-hosts?

by Anonymousreply 25506/26/2012

Think it could be Matt. I will not be watching Today when Ann is gone and I'm sure a lot of people feel the same way

by Anonymousreply 25606/26/2012

Ann is totally out of her element with fluff and pop culture - which is what Today has become. It's no wonder she wanders and stumbles. Not her fault and if I were her, I'd be relieved that I could find something more suited to my talents.

by Anonymousreply 25706/26/2012

I am living in Australia and can not believe what I am reading. You are a bunch of bullies. I have lived in America and love Americans. Are you all that angry? This is how stupid you all are 25 Mil for a person who is colour blind and has to have people pick out Matt clothes. Live and let live. I have been watching the show forever and I have noticed for many, many years they did not give Ann a go and were always distant. With all the murders and bullies THIS SHOW IS LIVING PROOF BULLING IS ALIVE ON TELEVISION AND IN ALL YOUR TEXTS. God Bless America?

by Anonymousreply 25806/26/2012

Ann is a lovely person however not loaded with the external "perkiness" and lightness needed to keep the show fun to watch. She's much too serious for the position and really needs to be back in the delivery of real news, domestic or foreign. That's where she belongs and I think where her heart is. She's warm and fuzzy but not perky and bright. Good luck to her. Matt is good but stiff and always looks pissed off when interviewing. He needs to work on his demeanor.

by Anonymousreply 25906/26/2012

Just something about Anne that just doesn't cut it as a co -host...Tries too hard and to be cute..stick to the script Anne and you'll shine...But please leave

by Anonymousreply 26006/26/2012

We like Ann Curry. To us it is sad she is leaving. Now we will go to another program. How the heck do you expect someone to perform well when the people you work with make you feel uncomfortable.NOT.Also, who has been choosing her outfits? Ann or the people that don't like her?At least she is not that loud mouthed obnoxious Kathy Lee.She allows no one else to speak without interupting them.I am so sorry Ann.Hopefully, we will see you after you take a well deserved break. We love your speaking voice. There are a lot of us out here that do not need to push ourselves onto others and share our private lives to strangers to get attention. We all wish we could give you a hug.Goodbye Today show.Bye the way, the guy that spoke the other day about getting rid of Ann had an angry tone that was not attractive. Also, he needs to go to the dentist and have his teeth cleaned.

by Anonymousreply 26106/26/2012

Are these joke posts or has DL been invaded by some lost Today Show fans?

by Anonymousreply 26206/26/2012

I agree with you Carol Frances.Ann Curry is one of the classiest Ladies in journalism.Professional, not silly. that is what journalism is all about.Ann Curry.not the crazy things that have been going on on the Today show. Those ridiculous gross shoes and purses? What does that have to do with Journalism?Get rid of everyone that has anything to do with "the fluff" and get back to what is important.Put all of the garbage we have been seeing on MTV.A better place for it.

by Anonymousreply 26306/26/2012

What. The. Fuck. Fuck. r261/r263?

by Anonymousreply 26406/26/2012
We like Ann Curry.

Do the other voices in your head know that you're speaking for them?

Why don't you use the spacebar after you complete a sentence?

How did you stumble on DL?

by Anonymousreply 26506/26/2012

oh, this is becoming a funny thread!

by Anonymousreply 26606/26/2012

It is r266. But let's not reveal any DL trade secrets just yet.

by Anonymousreply 26706/26/2012

so dashing Matt gets his balding way and offs a 15 year vet for a younger model - pathetic- she has more heart and soul in her pinky finger that Lauer has in his entire body

by Anonymousreply 26806/26/2012

I like ann curry. All this aggression!!!

by Anonymousreply 26906/26/2012

time to change to GMA ! Hello George and Robin. Maybe they will hire Ann !!!

by Anonymousreply 27106/26/2012

by Anonymousreply 27206/26/2012

by Anonymousreply 27306/26/2012

I never liked Ann Curry. She always seemed to be such a Diva. After Meredith Viera left, I turned to CBS.

by Anonymousreply 27406/26/2012

If Savannah gets it, I hope Ann, Natalie, and Hoda sue NBC.

by Anonymousreply 27506/26/2012

This thread has descended into C-R-A-Z-Y!

by Anonymousreply 27606/26/2012

R276 = Savannah Guthrie, while frantically searching for her upper lip.

by Anonymousreply 27706/26/2012

I def hope Ann gets more than $10 MIL from NBC. They knew what she was like long before giving her the full time gig. They should have know better.

by Anonymousreply 27806/26/2012

I totally agree, R278. She covered for Meredith an awful lot so it is not like a big surprise there - 14 years of getting to know someone and their capabilities. And talk about a salary gap between Ann and Matt! She will probably have them over age and wage discrimination before this is over.

by Anonymousreply 27906/26/2012

I love Ann Curry. I hate Matt Lauer and I think he is a pig and I bet a big baby when he doesn't get his way.

I Good Morning American Show is alot better they are happier, cheer and united, "a family".

by Anonymousreply 28006/27/2012

Ann never got a chance to shine. Natalie won't get the job because she had Matt's love child and they want to keep that hush hush. So it will propably go to Savannah Guthrie. What a mess. I am into GMA lately anyway.

by Anonymousreply 28106/27/2012

Read today that Natalie might leave too - if she is passed over a second time.

by Anonymousreply 28206/27/2012

Savannah Guthrie is too cold....Natalie Morales would be perfect!

by Anonymousreply 28306/27/2012

You bitches are unreal.

Almost everyone here couldn't wait until Ann was replaced, and now that it's gonna happen, you all want her to stay.

I glad that Ann is gone, but I don't think that Savannah is going to help the ratings.

by Anonymousreply 28406/27/2012

I think it is time to get rid of Matt Lauer. He's too full of himself.

by Anonymousreply 28506/27/2012

Matt Lauer should go. He has always been the uppity one. He makes the show lackluster and the show drags out. I gave up watching them long ago. If Matt Lauer can have NBC execs bow to him, good luck to the show. When Savannah Guthrie already make $7M a year, why would she lower herself to the Today show?

by Anonymousreply 28606/27/2012

I like Ann Curry. She is a caring human being. Today show is more focused on what's trending than good solid news. Guess trying to attract younger audience? Savannah Guthrie is a kid. Natalie morales is more credible/qualified. I feel for Ann but she's a great person and NBC is lucky to have her if she wishes to remain w them. NBC is screwed up anyway.

by Anonymousreply 28706/27/2012

I bet one person has written most of these critical comments about Ann Curry. Ann is great. I can't stand Savannah, and if Ann goes, I will quick watching the show. Ann's not the prbolem. The problem is the content.

by Anonymousreply 28806/27/2012

Well, she made it official this morning. It was heartbreaking to watch. As much fun as we made of her, she didn't deserve this treatement from NBC.

by Anonymousreply 28906/28/2012

Watch her goodbye at link. Oh, Matt, give us break!

by Anonymousreply 29006/28/2012

Savannah is sleeping with Matt.

by Anonymousreply 29106/28/2012

Her crying was unseemly and highly unprofessional.

by Anonymousreply 29206/28/2012

I thought the crying was a bit over the top but the whole process of her removal was over the top and very personal as well and I think it caught up with her. Also Matt was so non-plussed by it all and seemed like he couldn't wait for her to be escorted from the set.

by Anonymousreply 29306/28/2012

I agree -- Matt is annoying, and should have been turned loose as soon as he started to lose his hair. But remember, NBC is the network which also kept Bryant Gumbel and Baba Wawa well beyond their sell-by dates.

They would have already removed Matt if he were a woman who'd lost her looks.

by Anonymousreply 29406/28/2012

She was and always has been absolutely unwatchable. You have to be singularly untalented to continue to be so horrible after fifteen years. The only surprise is she wasn't fired immediately or that she was ever hired in the first place.

by Anonymousreply 29506/28/2012

If Matt goes won't they replace him with Seacrest?

That's fate almost worse than death!

by Anonymousreply 29606/28/2012

I felt horrible watching her break down today. It is bad enough that she was fired, but she seemed publicly humiliated as well. Matt Lauuer is an asshole, and is a poor actor. He seemed so insincere.

by Anonymousreply 29706/28/2012

Any chance there will be a viewer backlash? Lauer has always oozed smarm to me. I can't imagine he will last much longer unless there's a very charismatic and nice co-chair.

by Anonymousreply 29806/28/2012

I really think that Matt is tarnished goods right now and ratings will reflect that. Of course whoever fills the other seat will be blamed for ratings decline not Matt. Ann was awful but I think there is something fundamentally wrong with the whole show right now.

by Anonymousreply 29906/28/2012

R298, if people on DL are feeling bad for her you can just imagine how the average viewer feels, particularly women. So to answer your question, HELL YES there will be backlash. I know I wouldn't want to be the next one to take Ann's job, they would have to give it to another victim. And if she's young, pretty, and perky there will be hell to pay.

by Anonymousreply 30006/28/2012

Savannah was White House correspondent on NBC and co-host of a hard news show on MSNBC. I don't understand, other than lots more money, what the appeal would be to be the sacrificial lamb on a news show that has devolved into pablum.

by Anonymousreply 30106/28/2012

I was never an Ann Curry fan, but the way NBC went about removing her from the show was absolutely humiliating. I watched what happened when Jane Pauley was dumped for Deborah Norville and thought NBC would never be that bush league again, but boy, was I wrong.
Lauer has always oozed smarm to me.

He didn't at the beginning, but things started going downhill when Katie Couric left. He began to grate then, but Meredith Viera's being on the show kept it tolerable for the most part. When she left, there was nothing to keep Matt Lauer in check, and frankly, at this point I can't stand the sight of him. All TV personalities have expiration dates--their constant presence guarantees it. Matt is well past his.

I switched over to CBS this morning and discovered morning news for grown-ups.

by Anonymousreply 30206/28/2012

Katie and Meredith did a lot of buffering, I'm sure. And, I guess, compared to the insufferable Bryant Gumbel, Lauer wasn't so bad back then.

by Anonymousreply 30306/28/2012

When did Al Roker start with the "My People" shit??

He was already barely tolerable before, but he thinks he's some kind of cult leader or something. I wish they'd tell him to knock it off, he's just a fucking weatherman.

by Anonymousreply 30406/28/2012

Do they hate her because she is part Asian?

by Anonymousreply 30506/28/2012

Her crumbling into tears was cringe-worthy. And it didn't make Matt, Al and Natalie look so hot, either. It was an "I need a hug" moment followed by a feeble attempt to bring some lightness to the proceedings (Matt's "We'll send you to climb another mountain" remark)that really caused me to be embarrassed for them and the show and the network. It absolutely shouldn't have been done this way.

by Anonymousreply 30606/28/2012

I watched the video. Awful.

Based on the fact that this major "ick" moment was broadcast over the airwaves, it would seem that it wasn't Curry who needed to be fired, but the directors and producers who allow such drivel to pass as programming.

by Anonymousreply 30706/28/2012

The hate for Matt seems to be everywhere. From the Gawker comments.:
Matt L. is a douche. I nearly punched him in the face when i saw him walk outside in NY but some rabbid fan girls jumped in front of me before my fist could follow through. i hope when he leaves everyone has a chance to give him a swift kick to the groin.

by Anonymousreply 30806/28/2012

R302 is correct. Why did they insist on humiliating her on television like this? Why did she agree to it? I would have told them all to get bent.

by Anonymousreply 30906/28/2012

It WAS dreadful - probably one of the worst things I have seen on TV.

by Anonymousreply 31006/28/2012

She deserved better. Regardless of whether she was the reason for the ratings drop, it was humiliating how they had her say her good-bye, only to have Savannah in her spot after the commercial break. She couldn't even finish the show?

They were as subtle as a train wreck.

GMA's ratings are going to go through the roof.

by Anonymousreply 31106/28/2012

No, everyone does not hate her. She has done a good job with the load the producers of Taoday have given her. I think she is far better than Matt Lauer, and Savannah Gutherie could not come near Ann's quality and compassion.

I will b e switching to Good Morning America or even CNN at the 7:00 hour. Losing Meredith AND Ann has killed the show I have awakened to for allmost 50 years.

by Anonymousreply 31206/28/2012

so here's the thing, I liked Anne Curry. Her voice tone is very soothing. Savannah always looks like she skipped the hair stylist. Matt although I like him, maybe he is part of the problem and not the end all be all to morning news...BUT the moment they put Jenna Bush in as a reporter, I lost it. It was then that I started to watch less. Then when Sarah Palin did a stint, well thats when they really started to lose people. Who knows, maybe Anne was the scape goat they needed to blame for their previous actions, but I for one will miss that voice. Maybe she should do radio instead.

by Anonymousreply 31306/29/2012

Ann Curry is one of the reasons I watched for so long. I liked Matt, Al and Ann. Matt started oozing ego and rumors of his inability to keep it in his pants turned me off. I hope Ann finds a better job where journalism is more important than sex.

by Anonymousreply 31406/29/2012

Savannah Guthrie. What a name! What if something important happens. "And now, for the latest on the outbreak of World War III, we go to Savannah Guthrie."

by Anonymousreply 31506/29/2012

I could never stand Lauer, and have never watched because of him.

by Anonymousreply 31606/29/2012

A lot of internet comments suggest that people aren't as crazy about Matt as they used to be. I stopped watching a couple of years ago, but he was starting to get more combative and passive aggressive. Not a good journalist. If he is interviewing someone who does not fit his political views he is curt and borderline rude, if they do fit his views, he lobs softball questions.

Another reason for the drop in ratings, has been mentioned or implied. It is much more tabloid, with the Duggars and Kardasians being interviewed (or basically fawned over) during the first half hour. I think the Duggars might have been what finally drove me away.

by Anonymousreply 31706/29/2012

I think that the firing of Ann Curry is just terrible especially in the way that it was handled - it seems that Matt gets to call the shots - I think he is way to full of himself and he may be good at his job but he is not God! Ann Curry should not be the "fall guy" for the way the show is taking a hit in ratings. There is a lot of fixing to be done with The Today Show in many respects such as some segments are always cut way too short in some instances and some non interesting segments should be cut altogeather. Ann Curry is a wonderful person with a kind heart with world winning reporting skills- the network will be lucky if she decides to go forward with them - frankly I would go with another network if I were her and I believe there are a lot of other opportunities for her - she is no slouch and is extemely well accomplished - how stupid of the network to give her the boot if anything she should get a""promotion" to what would be considered a better job - not good on the network's part at all - maybe she is just too good for The Today Show! Matt Lauer has way too much influence over the network and he has a difficult personality at best and shows his lack of humanity to co-hosts as he did with Katie Curric. Just who does he think he is!

by Anonymousreply 31806/29/2012

Ann was a staple on the show. i'm not feelin it with Savannah, she looks like a ding dong, but then she is bubblely. it mite just work. Tamron Hall would have been a better fit. she is what TODAY is looking for. GOOD LUCK Savannah.

by Anonymousreply 31906/29/2012

Ann was always awful. Why NBC thought she would become a different person after getting promoted is baffling.

by Anonymousreply 32006/29/2012

Ann was perfectly fine as a newsreader, nothing more.

by Anonymousreply 32106/29/2012

I like Savannah alot but I don't like the way she has meteorically assumed the co-host spot on the panel. It was weird seeing her on the show this am surrounded by the ghost of Curry's past. I stopped watching Today on a regular basis awhile ago due to the aforementioned Duggar factor and have switched to CBS but even there they have a White House correspondent who can barely hide her contempt for Obama. I guess there is no perfect solution.

by Anonymousreply 32206/29/2012

We wish Ann well - she did GREAT as a correspondent but never quite stepped up to the plate as a co-author. Has an irritating on-air personality when

Was annoying to watch and listen to her. Even my teenage daughter would comment on her incessant use of "Meantime" ... numerous times per show instead of the more appropriate "In the meantime"... or "Meanwhile" as Matt correctly states.

Why so sad when she got a such a huge pay-off for NOT doing her job well. Wouldn't we all love to be paid NOT to do our jobs??! Makes no sense.

by Anonymousreply 32306/29/2012

The Today show should be in mourning. Many of us who hung around just for Ann will now get our morning news from another channel. May the colors in the peacock all turn brown and dim the lights on the rest of the team. So sorry Ann you deserve so much more and I am sure you will achieve it. God's speed

by Anonymousreply 32406/29/2012

I will be watching GMA. I didn't like Meredith and Matt seems to be a true ego maniac. The show, not the cohost has lost its luster. There is to much cooking and light hearted chit chat. Short segments with no meaning-I don't think that Ann Curry should bear the brunt of the executives misjudgements.

Robin and George here I come.

by Anonymousreply 32506/29/2012

R306, I agree. She didn't deserve this kind of treatment. NBC could have shown much more finesse. BTW, while I am now tired of MAtt, I was a you think that after years and years of cooking segments, Halloween dress-up, red-carpet gossip, celebs pushing books/movies/TV shows, these anchors sorta lose interest?

by Anonymousreply 32606/29/2012

Apparently when Matt re-negotiated his contract he put a clause giving him co-host approval. Which he exercised by ousting Ann Curry.

If you notice in her goodbye, she doesn't hug Matt and is very distant to him.

by Anonymousreply 32706/29/2012

She stalked me!

by Anonymousreply 32806/29/2012

i love ann curry---i hate matt lauer---who does he think he is!!!!!!!! hiring that little---whatever her name is!!!! get rid of matt maybe the ratngs would pick up. i will never watch ch 5 again--EVER-- ann is a lovely lady & I wish i could talk to her in person to tell her so!!! oh well--you did it to yourself matt---here i come ch 12!!!

by Anonymousreply 32906/29/2012

I liked her better than Meredith. Something was not quite right between Meredith and Matt.

Ann was game for any assignemnt. Good on her.

Word is, Matt was fucking Savannah so she got the seat. One of the reasons the show is so awful is the new slant toward conservative politics. I guess they have to keep Trump happy since he is one of their top producers. Might be the reason for the viewership slip.

Anyway; i don't watch any of them any more. I watch morning joe. And, when he gets really obnoxious, I turn to BBC.

by Anonymousreply 33006/29/2012

I am glad they have fired her. I have never understood NBC's fascination with her. I stopped watching Today when they made her co host. Firing her is a smart decision. She is too cold.

by Anonymousreply 33106/29/2012

I like Ann and I don't think that she is the problem. To me Matt is a total jerk and who wants to watch him?

by Anonymousreply 33206/29/2012

I have no idea what goes on behind close door!one thing i know is, i enjoyed the stories that Ann brought to us. She did not take a shower for a couple of days while on Mount Everest, just to bring that story. Love you Ann.

six4 in CT.

by Anonymousreply 33306/30/2012

I cannot believe the evil and hateful language that is posted about the Today Show hosts! Why do people feel they have to tear people down and be so vitriolic! I guess these viewers are perfect human beings! You ought to be ashamed. Get a life and change the channel.

by Anonymousreply 33406/30/2012

I like CBS and Charlie Rose. TODAY is crap. Can't stand Roker who looks like a dick since he lost weight. He looks evil. Every time I turn it on its a makeover special food segment or pop star and all those ridiculous people waving banners about some disease they walk 10 miles for and still don't have a cure.

BBC is good too.

by Anonymousreply 33506/30/2012

Ann Curry is a beautiful women with a caring and empathetic nature but her interviewing technques seem patronizing at best. Her soft touch and low voice always seemed phony. While she seems easily replaced and easily criticized I wonder if Matt Lauer isn't the bigger problem. He seems entirely too arrogant for any numerous news how.

by Anonymousreply 33606/30/2012

Ann Curry is great.Today show is making a bad move.people love her and have their morning coffee with her she's like a friend.Matt is such and egomaniac they let him run the place.doesn't matter who they put therewill change the channel and watchGMA.

by Anonymousreply 33706/30/2012

Ridiculous could anyone hate her? she is the most pleasant person the Today shoe has. Maybe Matt feels a little threatened by someone so charismatic and smart. Matt work on your own self esteem problems and quit blaming others for your insecurities. I think you have been acting like a jerk and I seriously doubt she is the cause of your falling ratings. I will be looking for her on any other show that will take her on. I am done with the ruthless drama of the Today show.

by Anonymousreply 33806/30/2012

This should be a lesson for all women that your job is never so secure you can start slacking off on the blow jobs.

by Anonymousreply 33907/01/2012

Matt's got testicle cuffs.

by Anonymousreply 34107/01/2012

The only reason I watch the today show is because of Ann Cutty. I think she is very professional, outstanding journalist, and sincere person. I will miss Ann very much, my personal opinion is she is a beautiful person inside and out.

love Bill

by Anonymousreply 34207/01/2012

Tamron Hall is the one to replace Curry

by Anonymousreply 34307/01/2012

I like Ann Curry, she is wholesome and real. Matt is a Rat, he likes to input his political views like anyone cares,he cannot control the interview. I think he is like the husband with a Trophy Wife, he wants to have someone younger up there makes a balding man look better or so he thinks. I no longer watch the Today show.

by Anonymousreply 34407/02/2012

I do not watch the Today Show, so I don't care who hosts it, co-hosts it, whatever. I am not an a.m. person. It's interesting to me to see how many people don't give a rat's you know what for Ann. The TV biz has always been about ratings, and if no one cares for Ann, then it's time for someone else so that the network can make more money on someone more likable, more suited to interviewing, right? American Greed is all the rave these days. But, really, why would Ann want to continue working at a job where she is not liked/respected? Hopefully she will find her next job more rewarding. And, that maybe this is her cue to move on - move forward...right? Good luck and good bye...

by Anonymousreply 34507/02/2012

GMA beat Today in the ratings on Friday.

Tee Hee.

by Anonymousreply 34607/02/2012

Natalie Morales is filling in for Brian Williams tonight. She is a beautiful woman.

by Anonymousreply 34707/02/2012

After Thursday's cringe-worthy show, no surprise there, R346.

by Anonymousreply 34807/02/2012

Wake up NBC. Get rid of Matt Lauer. BORING! Lacks charisma. If NBC thinks Lauer is good at interviewing, they need a total overhaul of decision-makers at NBC. Guthrie will probably work out well, but Lauer won't like her either.

by Anonymousreply 34907/02/2012

Who cares, it didn't work out, and she's getting a $10 million golden parachute, so no tears from me. If Lauer was also part of the problem, he'll be the next head on the chopping block.

I never watched the show, but she did strike me as bland. They should've known they couldn't make her a star.

by Anonymousreply 35007/02/2012

Sorry, OP. I just can't see this happening. She's too classy, too experienced, too connected. I have no idea what all these people here have been posting - I have a life, unlike some people - but you're way off base if you think Ann isn't going to drive the ratings way up real soon.

by Anonymousreply 35107/02/2012

by Anonymousreply 35207/02/2012

I'm officially boycotting The Today Show, and now watching The CBS Morning Show instead. Watching Ann Curry cry really upset me, and Matt showed no emotion at all. One of the most heartbreaking exits on TV, then replaced after the commercial? That was so cold!

by Anonymousreply 35307/02/2012
GMA beat Today in the ratings on Friday.

GOOD! I hope that continues.

by Anonymousreply 35407/02/2012

Ann was an integril part of Today Show for years. To toss her out due to bad ratings was big mistake. She was always courteous and professional and not arrogant or snooty.

Ann is like the Paula Abdul of Today Show.

A person who does a good job, has celebrity job and is mistreated by producers or network.

by Anonymousreply 35507/02/2012

They had to toss her out, it would've been humiliating for her to go back to a supporting role. And that was the only other option. It's showBIZ, a main anchor position is too important to allow it to be filled by someone who isn't performing optimally.

by Anonymousreply 35607/02/2012
And that was the only other option.

No it wasn't. They could have fired Matt. The elephant in the room now will be that Matt doesnt deserve that giant salary. If the ratings continue to fall off NBC will look so stupid for paying him that much and dealing with him for so long.

by Anonymousreply 35707/02/2012

Ann could take over the Regis Kelly show!

by Anonymousreply 35807/02/2012

They should just cancel that monstrosity, R358. Ripa will probably be holding onto it white-knuckled until she's as old as Regis. Daytime tv is so awful, a vast wasteland.

by Anonymousreply 35907/02/2012

Kne Ann was a Scorpio she is hard to deal with too serious.Just knew it and looked it up today.

by Anonymousreply 36007/02/2012

Dear Jeff,

Scorpio is the Best Sign in the zodiac.

by Anonymousreply 36107/02/2012

Hmm, Matt is the problem here. He looks like a jerk!

by Anonymousreply 36207/03/2012

This is why I cannot watch these morning news shows- everyone is too damn cheerful yet the backbiting behind the scenes is Dynasty level. Maybe Matt tried to hit on her and she rejected him?

by Anonymousreply 36307/03/2012

They are all crazy. Who the fuck takes a job when they have to get up so early. It's insanity.

by Anonymousreply 36407/03/2012

i liked ann...and i will definitely stop watching the today show if they do replace her w savannah

by Anonymousreply 36507/03/2012

That Gutherie woman has already been named the new hostess!

She was Matt's choice.

by Anonymousreply 36607/03/2012

I am shocked at all of the negative comments about Ann. She is an intelligent women, a great news anchor and I will miss her. I have gone to channel 2 now because of the way she was treated in the end. I don't like the way Matt interviews guests, I prefer Ann's style, mature, direct and interesting.

by Anonymousreply 36707/04/2012

The Today Show is nothing more than a glorified mag rag....Matt Needs to retire...he is too pushy....asks stupid questions and gives too many of his own opinions out to the public.

Ann Curry is fun, funny, beautiful to look at, and an excellent journalist....she is going to be a lot better off without that superficial clown show dragging her down. I say...take the $ and run Ann! Stay with serious journalisim or do something in your life you haven't had time to do until now. Everyone in our family will miss you. We won't be watching the Today Show anymore either...the only people we like to watch now are Al and Willard...the new ladies seem perky and I'm sure they will get the boot when some big shot somewhere stops getting a woody from having them around.

by Anonymousreply 36807/04/2012

Natalie Morales has been running the show this week (with Willie Geist). I guess this is a consolation prize for not getting the co-host job.

by Anonymousreply 36907/04/2012

I think this is awful how the media goes after someone. Ann is a classy lady I have always enjoyed her on the Today show. I don't think her Matt connect. But now her replacement she has always annoyed me I don't find myself watching the Today show very much after July 9th....

by Anonymousreply 37007/05/2012

Who let the fraus in?

by Anonymousreply 37107/05/2012

I think Natalie has done an excellent job this week - I think they are making a huge mistake going with Savannah.

by Anonymousreply 37207/05/2012

Natalie can read from a teleprompter better than Ann, but she has zero personality or wit.

by Anonymousreply 37307/05/2012

I am lovingly watching "Good Morning America" and enjoying every minute of it.

by Anonymousreply 37407/05/2012

Ann is real and we loved her. How about compiling all of Mat Lauer's outtakes and goofs. I'll gaurantee , Ann would come out on top !! Today Show ,you just lost two more viewers. Here we come ABC.

by Anonymousreply 37507/05/2012

At least Al roker is being smart and just staying in his "own neck of the woods". Good going buddy. Just sit back and "watch the show".

by Anonymousreply 37607/05/2012

I watched it when I was in my 20s and early 30s...then I got over it. All those howling fans on the street, what a turn off!

by Anonymousreply 37707/05/2012

Tamaron Hall would be great but Matt would be intimidated.

by Anonymousreply 37807/06/2012

I loved Ann Curry. Good grief, looks like journalism, and television is a dog eat dog business.

by Anonymousreply 37907/06/2012
At least Al roker is being smart and just staying in his "own neck of the woods". Good going buddy. Just sit back and "watch the show".

Fat Al doesn't sit back when there's a food segment. As soon as something is ready to eat, you'll see him reaching for the food.

by Anonymousreply 38007/06/2012

Matt Lauer is very self serving and should go as well. What happened to the news? Lester Holt would be much better than Matt. He is so dedicated. He would be great with Hoda Kotb or another female. Let's get some real hard working sincere people that know what they are doing with the news. I watched NBC for most of my life, but must switch due to the games that the people play with anchors and the news.

by Anonymousreply 38107/06/2012

I just saw an advertisement this morning that starting Monday July 9th Ann Curry is being replaced and I'm Furious at the Stuffed Shirts at NBC for doing this.

Everone I know Loves waking up to Ann Curry's happy, smiling face, her soft voice and her awesome sense of humor! What the "F" is wrong with those people at NBC New York???

And What's up with Matt Lauer anyway??? I mean the dude is handsome, but why doesn't he go to the Hair Club for men and Fix that balding cap of his? He would look so much better with Hair.

At least Ann Curry had a full head of hair, was nice, funny and an excellent Co-Host to Matt Baldy Lauer.

I liked Meredith Vieira as a co-host, but would have prefered Ann Curry back then to Meredith who seemed Dry and not very entertaining.

Well leave it to the "Stuffed Shirts" to make the Wrong decisions in the entertainment industry - Yet again!

by Anonymousreply 38207/06/2012

I love Ann and think she is just fine, Matt, get your head out of the clouds, no one is perfect!!!!

by Anonymousreply 38307/06/2012

Supposedly Ann and Al are good buddies and their families have vacationed together, so I wonder how Al feels about Matt and acts toward him. I suspect he just acts like it's business as usual cause he wants to hold on to his own job.

by Anonymousreply 38407/06/2012

If they replace Ann with Savannah Guthrie I won't be watching anymore.

by Anonymousreply 38507/06/2012

She's gone, bitches. Deal with it.

Oh, and they should have given the job to Natalie who was AWESOME this week!

by Anonymousreply 38607/06/2012

Too bad it was Matt and Al that got let go, then maybe NBC could get the ratings back. After 30 yrs with Today I'm now a fan of GMA. They are so pleasant and not so full of themselves (like the two mentioned above).

by Anonymousreply 38707/06/2012

Matt is an arrogant egotistic Schmuck. Ann is a genuine sweet heart.

by Anonymousreply 38807/07/2012

How many times did she get passed over?? Her soft compassionate voice put those being interviewed at ease. I will truly miss her !!

by Anonymousreply 38907/08/2012

I love Ann Curry she was real, but no one can replace Katie

by Anonymousreply 39007/09/2012

I liked Ann Curry and I miss her ...I hope Savanah will do well. but Ann impressed me more...She was sincere and gave feelings to interves and adjusted to whatever circumstances...Matt is rocking the boat...have you thought of replacing him..?? I like him but he takes too much time off and then someone fills in for him and that rocks the boat...people need to see the crew working together and happy and Matt as I said..likes time off...Ann....gave 100% I miss her..

by Anonymousreply 39107/09/2012

I'm still bewildered about Ann's firing. I liked her a lot and thought she was compassionate, fun and very attractive which seems to be so important on TV nowadays. I wish I could get to the " meat" of why exactly she was fired. I would like to bet the show's ratings will not go up now that she is gone, and may even drop lower. I'm almost ready to change the channel.

by Anonymousreply 39207/09/2012

Goodmorning goodmorning in the news this morning goodmorning

by Anonymousreply 39307/09/2012

Good riddance! Maybe the show will be watchable again!

by Anonymousreply 39407/09/2012

shocking Ann been fired, she is much better than any one on the line. Since so many changes on today show, same as other viewers I went to cbs and abc.

by Anonymousreply 39507/09/2012

You people who get up early to watch television shock and appall me.

Sleep in, darlings!

No appointments before eleven, I say.

Do you go to bed when the poultry does down in Hootersvile?

by Anonymousreply 39607/09/2012

Ann, will be missed. goodbye NBC after 30 years hello GMA

by Anonymousreply 39707/09/2012

Ann Curry was a kind and compassionate person who seemed to truly care about people! I loved her and will miss her! I am wondering if Matt Lauer is the problem? He might be getting to big headed for his own good! I don't care for Savannah! Why didn't they give the jobe to Natalie?? May have to switch to another network after 30 years of NBC!

by Anonymousreply 39807/09/2012

I think the today show was on its way out, mainly because of Lauer. He's so transparent. He has failed in keeping up the traditions and performances of his predecessors. He acts like a spoiled litte kid most times, grow up its sickening. Ann was never put in the right place on the today show she does a fantastic job on dateline and others news type productions. For the many great times and performances Ann had brought the show. She did not deserve the way her exit was orchestrated. enough is enough after over 30 years I'm done with the Today Show and going over to CBS. Good luck Ann

by Anonymousreply 39907/09/2012

Ann Curry was great. Matt Lauer is getting old and annoying. The new girl is week. If this is what Lauer needs as a sidekick to be good it only proves his weakness.

Oh well I guess it is Godd bye Today Show and Hello Good Morning America!!!

by Anonymousreply 40007/09/2012

Personally, I think the show went downhill when it became the kathie lee Gifford show.

by Anonymousreply 40107/09/2012

Ann Curry was great on Today. The one they need to replace is Matt Would be no loss there. My husband and I will now watch anoyher network.

by Anonymousreply 40207/09/2012

Hate is a strong word. Ann never really fit in once she was on the front line with Matt. He never seemed happy about Meredith's replacement. I find this sad for Ann, to be hit so hard with so many negative statements. They knew what Ann could do and put her there anyway. I love the Today Show and look forward to watching the group with my cup of coffee and a shared phone call from my best friend while we share the news. Come on people: Wish Ann Well. She is human!!!!!!!!!!

by Anonymousreply 40307/09/2012

Natalie should have been chosen, not Savamnah. Hello Goof Morning America & Fox and Friends

by Anonymousreply 40407/09/2012

Natalie and Savannah seem interchangeable to me.

Maybe the problem with the ratings is that Today has dumbed itself down so much that it is now indistinguishable from any other stupid daytime show. Proof of this to me was when Matt had to interview that grifter husband of the Real Housewives woman from Washington after she had dumped him to shack up with the guy from Journey.

by Anonymousreply 40507/09/2012

Natalie should have replaced Ann without a doubt.

by Anonymousreply 40607/09/2012

Does nobody listen to Morning Edition or The Takeaway or BBC Newshour in lieu of watching these terrible breakfast shows?

by Anonymousreply 40707/09/2012

I am no longer watching the Today show. While I like Matt Lauer I think he is over rated. Ann Curry was great at her craft and never shrank from any assignment given her. I will follow her whereever she goes. If it had been handled with the respect and appreciation she deserved her leaving might have been acceptable. God bless you Ann as you bring the respect, honor and intelligence you possess to some other network .

by Anonymousreply 40807/09/2012

HOW CAN PEOPLE BE SO INSENSATIVE. I love Ann Curry. she was the best thing since Katie. lots of class and very professional. Hang in there Ann you are more love then you might think. and will land something soon that will be worthy of you. CAG. lVNM

by Anonymousreply 40907/09/2012

Apparently NBC did not promote Natalie for two reasons. First, it would only fuel the rumor speculations further. Second, Mrs. Lauer would not hear of it. It seems that rumors in New York suggest that Matt and Natalie are an item. Apparently they got "really" close during the Summer Olympics in Beijing. In fact, nine months after the games Natalie gave birth. Further suggesting that Matt is the baby-daddy.

by Anonymousreply 41007/09/2012

I can't believe that the Today Show actually kept her on at all after her horrible, rude, and vulgar visit on the Tonight Show.

I was appalled at her proudly telling the vulgar story about the way her mother questioned Ann's boyfriend about their sex life. This discusting topic was her entire interview. Even Jay Lenno was speechless, and that is going some.

Great way to begin your carreer Ann. The Tonight Show was on just before she officially started as co anchor of Today.

by Anonymousreply 41107/09/2012

Ann is good but maybe just not right for that position. Now if NBC will get rid of that anorexic premadonna Kelly Rippa, they'll be in good shape.

by Anonymousreply 41207/09/2012

Kelly Ripa doesn't work for NBC.

by Anonymousreply 41307/09/2012

"Natalie and Savannah seem interchangeable to me"

Natalie is not the sharpest knife in the drawer. She can read, but she makes a LOT of mistakes when ad-libbing. She called Duke Ellington, "Duke Wellington." She called JFK, "JFK Jr." She has no education; she can't ask a question unless it's written down -- and not even then sometimes.

by Anonymousreply 41407/09/2012

Bye Ann.. I am keeping me as your fan.

by Anonymousreply 41507/09/2012

What do mean, she has no education?

by Anonymousreply 41607/09/2012

Natalie looks a bit like Maria Shriver. They sound alike as well. I wonder why Maria hasn't tried to get her NBC news job back now that she's no longer First Lady.

by Anonymousreply 41707/09/2012

This is the most frauliche thread EVER.

by Anonymousreply 41807/09/2012

Matt Lauer "interviewed" (aka, sucked off) Brad Pitt's brother this morning. Not one question about all the recent news about their mom being such a right wing nutbag and homophobe. He's no better than Ann at celebrity "interviews". Softball doesn't begin to describe it.

by Anonymousreply 41907/09/2012

I like Ann Curry. Can't stand Savanna Guthrie. I like GMA better, except for the fact that they hired Amy Roback. She,s awful. CBS in the morning is much better. At least, they have something that isn't just movie tripe.

by Anonymousreply 42007/09/2012

by Anonymousreply 42107/09/2012

It's about time!!!!

by Anonymousreply 42207/09/2012

Matt is a MORON........period

by Anonymousreply 42307/09/2012

I watched today to see how they handled Savannah's coronation. Tomorrow I will check out CBS.

by Anonymousreply 42407/09/2012

wow - such bitchy and hateful comments here!

I loved Ann Curry - she was my favourite TV host, the main reason I watched this program, and I was shocked and horrified at her sudden disposal.

I'm thinking I won't be watching so much of that program - forget which one it was - I timeshift all 3 morning shows - Today just dropped in my estimation - and the promos for the new girl - leaning on Matt Lauer's shoulder - in a direct rip-off of Ann Curry's pic - is just offensive.

Switch - off !

by Anonymousreply 42507/09/2012

Ann Curry was one of my favorite people on the Today Show. I like Savannah Guthrie too, but don't understand why people are so mean about the way they talk about Ann! I wish her the very best for the future! Go Anne!!!

by Anonymousreply 42607/09/2012

Are you kidding. Im a new fan of the Today Show and Ann is so wonderful. I record the show and watch it everyday. I felt weird when I started to feel like they are family. I noticed Ann most of all that she was so kind and somewhat soft spoken when she talked to guest. the soft spoken of kindness like she really cared. Wow what a breath of fresh air she was. Now Savannah is great also. She almost seems like the near girl in high school that became beautiful and was always smart and quirky. Not a bad choice but Ann is an Angel. You can see it in the way she talked to people. She will be missed!

by Anonymousreply 42707/09/2012

Matt is a horrible, mean, and condescending host. I get annoyed anytime i see his face anywhere. Ann at least did real news as well as had fun moments on Today. The fact that she is replaced by Savannah, to me, was a horrible mistake only because she just seems like a ditz and was probably put in place to make Matty Moron look like a good journalist. Her day 1 premiere this morning made her look like a complete hick and someone not quite mature enough to take over the role. 1 fan lost.

by Anonymousreply 42807/09/2012

I like Ann! NBC pulled a low-class stunt in firing her and doing it in such a showy way. Matt needs to go - the ratings would improve if they got rid of that smug and pompous jerk! Savannah certainly did not impress today. I'm moving to GMA.

by Anonymousreply 42907/09/2012

I think Matt Lauer should get the boot

by Anonymousreply 43007/10/2012

I used to be a loyal Today show viewer for years. Now with Savannath Guthrie as co-host, I'll be looking elsewhere. Between her and that stupid Chuck Todd, they are the biggest Obama butt kissers you could find. Savannah didn't deserve that position. What about Natalie Morales. Matt is a jerk - I don't see how anyone works with him. In fact, he didn't even have a college degree when he started as cohost. Bye, Bye Today Show!!!

by Anonymousreply 43107/10/2012

I think matt is afraid of losing his job he is not worth the money he is getting. Ann curry was doing her she has to do what the writers put on paper how is this her fault.matt got the same seems like as soon as some one doing a little better than him he has to rid of them. Lou

by Anonymousreply 43207/10/2012

People need to look at Matt. The problem may be with him. I will miss seeing Ann on the Today Show. Time for Matt to go. Not everybody hates Ann Curry!!!!!

by Anonymousreply 43307/10/2012

I really enjoyed Ann. She has been the post down-to-earth person on the Today show. She always seemed humble unlike Matt. I will truly miss her and I'll start watching another News Network!

by Anonymousreply 43407/10/2012

There was never any chemistry between Matt & Ann. And no matter what anyone says about it just being about the news, those are the 2 the camera keeps coming back to, and it was awkward, boring and miserable. Matt may have always been part of the problem, but no one can deny that he and Katie had good chemistry. I realize Savannah is very intelligent, but her voice sounds like a 10 year old girl. Would prefer Natalie.

by Anonymousreply 43507/10/2012

i loved ann that was shifty the way they did to her thinking of watching another morning show jeannie pennsylvania

by Anonymousreply 43607/10/2012

I agree, R435, but Ann always had good chemistry with fill-in hosts.

I used to like Matt, but lately he just seems dour. He doesn't seem fun or funny (even though the others make him think he is the latter) and, for me, adds absolutely nothing to the broadcast.

by Anonymousreply 43707/10/2012

Love Ann - she is honest and I trust her with the news. This is something that can NOT be said of Matt. Is there any question what side of the political debate he's on? A reporter should report the news and viewers should not be able to tell which side they take personally. Sadly, this seems to be the norm. I like to think we can think for ourselves when presented with unbiased facts.

by Anonymousreply 43807/10/2012

438 = Roger Ailes

by Anonymousreply 43907/10/2012

The woman who took Anne's place...does she have any charisma at all?

by Anonymousreply 44007/10/2012

I cannot stand Lauer. I have seen him embarrass guests, bringing them to tears (he is so cut throat and rude; even cruel). He regularly cuts people off, interupt, be mean, upstage his guests (as they try to promote why they even came on the show). He shows off his men's thong to cameras, crew and whoever. Who does he think he is, he stinks. He shows stupidity, slumps, puts people on defense. Why have they let him stay when people do not like him, is a huge mystery. Get another "guy", many to chose from.

by Anonymousreply 44107/10/2012

"I think Matt Lauer should get the boot"

Yeah. At least they should fix his hair and teeth.

by Anonymousreply 44207/10/2012

"Apparently NBC did not promote Natalie for two reasons. First, it would only fuel the rumor speculations further. Second, Mrs. Lauer would not hear of it."

I was unaware Mrs. Lauer was an NBC exec and/or someone whose opinion of the matter people would give a shit about.

by Anonymousreply 44307/10/2012

I really liked Ann Curry,It seems the Today Show contiually has problems with the female gender. They really should can Matt Lauer, he's the has-been.

by Anonymousreply 44407/10/2012

I'm sorry Ann Curry has alot of passion & I'm sad she was replaced...back to whites only policy

by Anonymousreply 44507/10/2012

Reading this thread, it might seem that Ann has found a way to occupy her down time. But, these messages the Frau/troll keeps posting, though they are mighty silly, are way too lucid to be coming from the worst morning host ever.

Ann's probably spending her time exercising her one true talent by annoying her neighbors.

by Anonymousreply 44607/10/2012

now that Ann is leaving the Today show, so am I! Matt Lauer's head is so big, it's ridiculous, and I'm tired of his often rude remarks to people

by Anonymousreply 44707/11/2012

Despicable!!!! Matt Lauer salary is only surpassed by his ego. Ann Curry had the respect of viewers. Can't say the same for the ones she left behind. I have already switched to another morning show and won't be going back to watch the cut-throats

by Anonymousreply 44807/11/2012

The Today Show has been part of my wake up routine for more years than I'd like to admit to. This past decade has caused some concern, but I've continued watching. For the most part, I liked Katie,Meredith and Ann (but not so much in the co-anchor roll). OK, I'm old...Jane Pauley was my fave.

Anyway, while some of Ann's interviews and methods made my skin crawl, she was a good lady and dedicated a lot of her life to the show. I am embarrassed as a viewer at how she was treated and am no longer watching! Savannah is good, but I'm not sure she's ready for what Today is throwing at her, at least not with Matt. He might be a nice guy, but he makes me feel inferior, and I usually don't feel that way in any situation. Shame on him for making me, or anyone, feel like he is "all that". Why on earth was he offered the big bucks? You've got Lester, David Gregory and the cute guy (Willie, I think??) that all give me reason to engage when I watch. Matt really comes across as being all about MATT. He may be one of the nicest guys around, but he doesn't come across as someone we all want to spend time with each morning. Come on NBC, I've loved you my entire life. Can't you figure this all out???

by Anonymousreply 44907/11/2012

Ann Curry has been replaced by SAVANNAH " THE LIPLESS WONDER" Gutherie!! Ugh!

by Anonymousreply 45007/11/2012

I have loved Ann for years!!!! I cannot believe she was fired!!! I am changing my morning show to CBS!

by Anonymousreply 45107/11/2012

Ann Curry was just as good as any of the previous cohost. She was an individual and unique in her own way. I found her delightful and interesting. I don't believe any one of the morning crew is better then the others. Furthermore who are we to criticize anyone as if we were perfect. People have a heart n if Matt Lauer had anything to do with this shame on him, his reward is coming!

by Anonymousreply 45207/11/2012

Okay, it's pretty clear that Ann Curry's dismissal means that many people who don't watch the Today Show are not going to watch the Today Show now that she is gone.

I have always admired Ann Curry and the excellent job she has done for the Today Show. Her presence has always reflected genuine affection for those around her. In a world where ratings is all that matters, however, good people are going to be hurt and sometimes humiliated for the "cause." After all, someone has to take the blame, don't they? I hope she pursues other avenues for her numerous talents. Good luck Ann!! You are one classy lady!!

On the other hand, Matt always appears a bit stuffy and aloof..... lackluster comes to mind...yes, even mind numbing!!! No genuine warmth detected there! Maybe the finger is being pointed in the wrong direction?! Maybe he should have been the one to say farewell instead of Ann. Who does he have backed into a corner, to the extent that he could negotiate a continuing lucrative contract? Sorry guys, the Today Show will not get better because of Ann's exit, but will worsen due to Matt's lack of charisma!

by Anonymousreply 45407/13/2012

Gooks never last, look what happened to Connie Cung

by Anonymousreply 45507/13/2012

Matt started his career in Rhode Island and, even back then, he was known as an egotistical prick who couldn't get along with his peers.

Matt was always so proud of his hair.

Ann Curry has more journalistic integrity in her little finger than Matt has in miles he's traveled to do his stupid segment, "Who in the World Cares Where Matt Lauer Is?"

If ratings of the Today Show have plummeted, it's because the program has become another "Entertainment Tonight" or "Inside Edition" and pushes products more than QVC.

Getting rid of Ann was the dumbest mistake they could have made because it's obvious they used her as a scapegoat to explain their bad ratings.

I understand Ann got a cool $10 million to leave the show without a fuss, but she'll still be working for NBC.

Didn't NBC execs do the same thing to Conan O'Brien? He got $14 million to leave quietly, too--except he's now with TBS.

Savannah could never be taken seriously. She's too dippy and Valley Girl-ish.

by Anonymousreply 45607/13/2012

I watched Ann for 15 years and loved her journalism. She has a sweet personality and was fun to watch when she did her stunts that many other people would not agree to do. I wish her a lot of luck and success in the future. I hope she does more special assignments and reports on them on t.v.

by Anonymousreply 45707/13/2012

I would like to see Lester and Jenna co-host the Today Show. Lester does a lot and is probably too good a reporter to do fluff news as his major job. I would watch Lester on anything. Matt was good with Meredith but she would be good with anyone. Matt isn't my favorite anchor, he is kind of a jerk.

by Anonymousreply 45807/13/2012

I forgot about Willie, yeh, get rid of Matt and put Willie as the co-host with Jenna. Lester just has so much on his hands.

by Anonymousreply 45907/13/2012

LONG time Today Show watcher ....cant stand Savannah, so I tired both CBS and GMA ....

CBS is set up and feels too much like a local newschannel. Liked the serious news, but felt a little too low key for me.

GMA is rocky at times, but I've come to enjoy it. It's definitely got such a queer vibe with Robin and Sam ...and I think Ive started a crush on Josh. Is he gay? He and Sam flirt like crazy. They both seemed to be drooling over Luke Bryan today. ( BTW Sam riding the bull today showed his expertise as a bottom doing a reverse cowgirl

by Anonymousreply 46007/13/2012

I can't believe NBC fired Ann Curry. I watched the Today Show because of Ann Curry. I have always watched the Today Show and now this has made me real sick. I think I will start watching GMA now. Samantha is too gung-ho and sunshiney. Real life is not like that. Who in the world does Matt Lauer think he is? Well, he is just another bald guy, in my opinion.

Ratings momentum building for 'GMA': ABC show topping 'Today' in Guthrie's debut week

July 12, 2012 |Rick Kissell | Variety

The hiring of Savannah Guthrie as co-host has not stopped the ratings bleeding at NBC's "Today," which is falling well behind ABC's "Good Morning America" this week. The Alphabet ayem show won the first three days of the current week, according to Nielsen prelims, with Wednesday's margin of more than 580,000 viewers the biggest yet (roughly 4.4 million to 3.8 million). And for the week through Wednesday, "GMA" was comfortably ahead (4.38 million to 4.02 million). "GMA" is also leading the week in the key news demo of adults 25-54 (albeit by a slim 38,000-viewer margin), pulling ahead in a category that "Today" has consistently won -- even during the ABC show's recent surge. In final national estimates from Nielsen for last week (July 2-6), "GMA" won by its largest total-viewer margin over "Today" in 17 years (4.46 million vs. 4.22 million), and has now been the most popular morning news program for six of the past 13 weeks. The NBC show still prevailed last week in adults 25-54, winning by an average of 24,000 viewers. Guthrie, a lawyer who has been hosting the third hour of "Today," officially replaced Ann Curry as Matt Lauer's co-host on Monday. Curry exited the previous Friday amid a wave of support from fans.

by Anonymousreply 46207/13/2012

Gutherie is sweet and pro. Amazing chemistry with Matt!

Just you wait, once the Olympic starts, GMA will be crushed.

by Anonymousreply 46307/13/2012

I like Ann Curry. Has anybody ever thought that maybe Matt Lauer is the culprit? First Katie, then Meredith, now Ann. Maybe he's the one that is hard to work with. Don't get me wrong, I do like Matt, but you just never know.

by Anonymousreply 46407/13/2012

I miss Ann Curry!!! She always came across kindly & with a lot of class... Because of the way they let Ann go, I will no longer watch the Today Show anymore! Good-bye Today Show!!!

by Anonymousreply 46507/13/2012

Who are we kidding? This chain of events goes as far back as when Katie Couric left the show.Managment at NBC should of offered Katie any amount it took to keep that dream team together.

by Anonymousreply 46607/13/2012

I just love Ann Curry! She is a saint. No one is a better interviewer than she is! Her questions are so insightful. I kind of think she may be the greatest person who ever walked the earth. Jesus who? I'm only kidding, though the Son Of God might have learned a little about human compassion from Ms. Curry. I think it's pretty obvious that she is the best journalist ever, as well as the nicest person!

by Anonymousreply 46707/13/2012
Managment at NBC should of offered Katie any amount it took to keep that dream team together.

should of, could of, would of....

by Anonymousreply 46807/13/2012

Ann Curry was my favorite female anchor. She was refined, decent, intelligent, and an all-around lovely lady.

I may switch morning news programs with her gone.

by Anonymousreply 46907/13/2012

Ann Curry is the best "real news" journalist NBC's Today Show has. I think she's very sweet and was the true heart of the morning show. It just seems empty without her. Before you throw stones, how many of the naysayers would be able to do the job?

I like Savannah Guthrie, but she seems uncomfortable in her new role and is rather stiff at times. Tell me, why should a legal correspondent be subjected to doing food segments? That stuff is pure fluff. I heard there were complaints about Ann Curry interviewing celebrities & doing food segments. I thought she asked very provocative questions in her celebrity interviews.

by Anonymousreply 47007/13/2012

if i were ann curry i would hane NOTHING to do with the today show after what they did MOVE ON to what you do best stay away from those SNAKES!!!!!!!!!!

by Anonymousreply 47107/14/2012

Why is this thread so long? Do we all really care about Anne Curry?

by Anonymousreply 47207/14/2012

We don't give a RAT'S ASS about ANNE Curry. We DO love ANN Curry.

by Anonymousreply 47307/14/2012

I liked Ann. I am very sorry to see her treated this way. She has shown through the years that she is very caring and empathetic with the people she interviews. She does not get in their face or put them down.

by Anonymousreply 47407/14/2012

I love love love Ann Curry. I hope she gets another gig; even if it's on Fox, I will follow her. She is so nice to the people she interviews and always makes sure they don't have to talk too much. I hope some day I do something worthy of getting her to interview me. I hope she caresses me!

by Anonymousreply 47507/14/2012

People don't give her credit for being a fashion plate. And her ad libs were what got the show to the top. That's good!

by Anonymousreply 47607/14/2012

I always liked Ann Curry. Just who were these people that didn't enjoy her? As far as I can tell, many viewers liked her.

by Anonymousreply 47707/14/2012

Matt Lauer is a prick! A tiny little prick.

by Anonymousreply 47807/14/2012

There was a time when I too thought that Today show was a great way to start the day.It ended with the loss of Katie and after now lossing Ann Curie I will probably stop watching and possibly start watching Good Day Sacramento!Matt Lauer super deal? Not in my house.

by Anonymousreply 47907/14/2012

Matt is a loser that rides on everyone's coat tales. He is uneducated. Ann is awesome I will never watch again this is a big mistake.

by Anonymousreply 48007/14/2012

Ann is a genuine person, what you see is what you get.Savannah is fake. She sucks at reporting the news.Cant stand to listen to her speak!

by Anonymousreply 48107/15/2012

Well I hate everybody who says Anne Curry is just mean, rotten & rude. I think she is doing just fine on the TODAY show.

by Anonymousreply 48207/15/2012

I think everyone has to agree, r482, that over the last week or so she has definitely improved!

by Anonymousreply 48307/15/2012

What is this talk of "I hope she winds here or there" Ann is still with NBC as an international correspondent.

by Anonymousreply 48407/15/2012

Watch the sparks between Gutherie and Lauer!

Match made in heaven!

by Anonymousreply 48507/15/2012

Ann Currt, was awesome she will be missed.

by Anonymousreply 48607/16/2012

How many co-host has Matt had now? Maybe they are not the problem. I liked Ann and will be watching CBS news from now on.I think NBC thinks they are better, maybe at one time but no more.

by Anonymousreply 48707/16/2012

I can't believe neither of our presidential candidates has tapped Ann to be their running mate.

by Anonymousreply 48807/16/2012

I think that Ann Curry is wonderful and was badly mistreated, It's a shame that some people on that show have so much power and care so little about anyone or anything that doesn't involve them.

by Anonymousreply 48907/16/2012

I loved Ann. I think the whole thing is crap! If anyone needed to be fired, it would be that damn Matt. Can't stand that guy. He thinks he is the shit . He's arrogant and not funny at all (unlike Al, love him). I was really pissed off over the years how Matt seemed to always get the best stories and interviews. He just must be one hell-of a brown noser, kiss ass, definitely self serving jerk. I can't even tolerate his cheesy smile and his weak little man voice.

by Anonymousreply 49007/17/2012

Dr. Nancy Snyderman just called Savannah "stupid" on the air! "That's stupid Savannah! Don't put all your prescription meds in one container." uh oh.

I loved the Starr, Donny, Nancy discussion of the kennedys. Donny said "I'm sick of The Kennedys. They are no better than trailer trash." Amen to that.

Unfortunately they next had an interview with the right wing nut Elton John so I had to turn it off.

by Anonymousreply 49107/17/2012

NBC is MSNBC lite! Matt Lauer is not worth the money he is being paid. We watch CNBC, and when Santelli is on, we even turn up the volume! :}

by Anonymousreply 49207/17/2012

Reply to 485, Lauer is known as Old Sparky Pants! Poor, Poor, Savannah. : {

by Anonymousreply 49307/17/2012

WTF? Nancy Snyderman called Savannah, "stupid?!" Was I still in the Green Room finishing my lemon tart?

by Anonymousreply 49407/17/2012

The only sparks flying between and Savannah and Laurer are in his pants! Ann wisely kept her distance from OLD SPARKY PANTS! Lauer's the only one that wanted Ann gone, she was his scapegoat for the show's lower ratings. I watch again when Matt is gone.

by Anonymousreply 49507/17/2012

Does no other network want Ann Curry? I don't know why she would want to stay at NBC after being fired from the Today show. It must be super uncomfortable that she still has to report for the Today show.

by Anonymousreply 49607/17/2012

"Matt Lauer is not worth the money he is being paid."

The only lucid, intelligent comment in this entire thread.

by Anonymousreply 49707/17/2012

I feel that Ann Curry had a heart and was mature! I think the rest of the group needs to take some advise and grow up! It's not a "cutesy" show, and it shouldn't be an ego boost(Matt). I thought Ann Curry was the classy part of the show! I miss her and really don't like her fake voiced replacement! I'm sorry to see you gone Ann!! You are one classy lady!!!Beautiful also!!

by Anonymousreply 49807/17/2012

It's so nice to see that Ann has so may fans. I, too, was sorry to see her go. It was a disgrace how NBC, Matt Lauer, etc., handled Ann's depature.

But as a result, my departure from the show just meant me switching the channel for good.

by Anonymousreply 49907/17/2012

BREAKING...R499 IS Ann Curry...reporting live on DL.

by Anonymousreply 50007/17/2012

I heard that next Tuesday, all of us Ann Curry fans are to commit suicide. Today I gave my niece my car since I won't be needing it any more. I wish there was more that I could do for Ann Curry, who is so nice she makes people want to kill themselves.

by Anonymousreply 50107/17/2012

R501 = Annie Wilkes

by Anonymousreply 50207/17/2012

Well, r502, from this thread, I'd say it's obvious I'm not Ann's only Annie Wilkes. And I'd imagine anyone who has watched the "Today Show" for more than a couple of weeks would say that Ann deserves all the Annie's Wilkeses she can muster!

by Anonymousreply 50307/17/2012

Ann Curry makes me write bad checks. Strange powers that Ann Curry.

by Anonymousreply 50407/17/2012

Ann was so much better than Matt. I think she is Great.

by Anonymousreply 50507/18/2012

I loved Ann! She was a gentle spirit. Maybe too gentle.

by Anonymousreply 50607/18/2012

Savannah is all American Ivory snow girl. Ann was the first female minority to co-host today. Personally I liked Ann she was personable. I was thinking it would had been Natalie,Tamera is awesome as well. A female latino or African american co-host, maybe in another 10-20 years. This is the reality of the american way, that's why they picked Savannah. Ann will do just fine. Always worried about ratings instead of the goodness of the true human being. Personally I don't watch the today show as much anymore.

by Anonymousreply 50707/18/2012

Ann was the best on NBC morning news much better then current tall girl And for sure better then arrogant /stupid Merridith

by Anonymousreply 50807/18/2012

I agree, R508. I will never be able to adjust to a tall girl with NO LIPS.

by Anonymousreply 50907/18/2012

Savanah Guthrie is a lawyer and very experienced journalist and extremely smart and erudite.

by Anonymousreply 51007/18/2012

I loved Ann Curry. It is Matt who is somewhat arrogant and abrasive during his interviews. Meredith V of course was the best. Matt does need to learn to keep his political views to himself as he is very obvious about his Republican bias. He should be re evaluated for his morning chair.

by Anonymousreply 51107/18/2012

Ann does as good of a job as any of the rest of them. We have to be careful about how we treatone another. God sits high and looks low. I've started watching GMA since this.

by Anonymousreply 51207/18/2012

Please bring Ann Curry back.

by Anonymousreply 51307/18/2012

Savannah Guthrie has no top lip and i cant stand to watch her talk

by Anonymousreply 51407/18/2012

Why? I was surprised to hear. I really liked her and was more likely to keep the channel on nbc when I noticed she was on. I hope they don't replace her with someone sappy. I really thought she added a nice balance with the others personalities. I don't take a show as serious if they're like Regis and Kathy. Too chatty.

by Anonymousreply 51507/18/2012

R515, sappier than Ann? Is that possible?

by Anonymousreply 51607/18/2012

Sometimes, what the world needs is a little more "sap.". And I, for one appreciated the fact that if she was reporting that a bus load of schoolchildren had been driven off the Pacific Coast Highway into the rocks far below, she would be sure to inform us that it was "sad."

by Anonymousreply 51707/18/2012

This is all revisionist history. People are so caught up in feeling for her for getting dumped that they forget how annoying lots and lots of us found her before that. There were old threads about Ann where you'd be lucky to get one or two posters to chime in in her mild defense ("I don't find her so objectionable.")

While I think she came across as a likable person, she was a terrible interviewer and injected way too much histrionics in her news readings. Just read the fucking prompter; don't give us your sad face.

by Anonymousreply 51807/19/2012

I got as far as typing "Savannah Guthrie h" in the Google search box, and Google quickly filled in "as no lips." I guess it's a common search. ;)

by Anonymousreply 51907/19/2012

It hurts to watch someone as good hearted get the boot after so many years of service, just because of personality traits that don't quite fit into the square hole the round pegsters have created. Lauer obviously holds all the cards as to his co-hosts. The women (like Meredith) who gave a bit of "bite" to his straight man works well for a while, and then goodbye to them. I think none of these women, including and starting with Katie Curric will continue to do well in their fields. I am also one who is turning more to GMA and FOX for my morning "news", which on the Today Show is now 50% cooking, health, clothing, human interest stories, none of which are bad. Just boring. Ann Curry, my very best to you. I miss your gentle touch. Please write a book on Morning news/talk show intrique! V

by Anonymousreply 52007/19/2012

Ann Curry is great. I miss her, done with Matt and the NBC crew. On to GMA and Charlie Rose. I will also make it a point to find, follow and support Ann Curry.

by Anonymousreply 52107/24/2012

I enjoyed Ann, she just told things the way they were and did not need to try and sensationalize the topic, I thought she contributed logic and reason to the show, not like good morning america where they tend to gravitate towards tabloidism especially in their opening monologue...good luck Ann I will miss you,,Tony in Canada

by Anonymousreply 52207/24/2012

IT is really sad that this world has come to these standards of not excepting a person for the time and work they have put into there job. Ann made NBC noticible by her trips and things she did for excitment. What does Matt do for excitement except 'Where in the World is Matt Laur". YES, I could fly , read a script, and point to places in the cities visited like he does for less money than I am sure he wants. I think Ann EARNED that position as CO Host or HOST for the years and time into that job. Before knowing what was happening I saw this new gal Savannah and thought what are they doing putting on this giggly girl who wanted to act like a child with the attention given to her on television. Then all of a sudden she quieted down and I said to my spouse something is up. WELL, now we know who was working to move right on in someone else's spot. Maybe this is why Merridith left maybe she saw the unfairness given at NBC. What a shame they had a special group put together and now its gone. I feel for Natalie and for AL..I wish they could find a show together with Ann and Lester from weekends. What a group it would be. All out going. Yes, there will be those who don't know any better still watch Today but if they wise up look around like I am others are telling me watch America Morning show and SOme tell me watch CBS. THEY are pretty good. I am trying them out.

by Anonymousreply 52307/24/2012

Ann was way superior to Ms. Viera, it was obvious lauer did not like working with her which certainly did not help her confidence in trying to fit in. I feel Ann carried the show during the Meredith viera years. I hope she gets a great opportunity somewhere, she would have done better as the Cbs evening news anchor than Ms. Couric. I wish Ms. Guthrie well but can barely stand to watch her, she just reminds me of a wide mouth bobblehead. I believe they should have dumped Mr. LAuer instead of Ann curry. Moved Lester holt up with Ann and kept amy robach in the news slot. Watch out Al, Matt does not seem to be too thrilled with you either.

by Anonymousreply 52407/24/2012

The Today show is shallow, glib and replete with meaningless banter. Ann was the only bright spot in the dark mediocrity. Typical of the brainless garbage presented by 95% of TV programs today.

by Anonymousreply 52507/25/2012
Ann was the first female minority to co-host today.

Pardon me?

by Anonymousreply 52607/25/2012

The Today Show this week is nothing but a shill for NBC's coverage of the Olympics.

by Anonymousreply 52707/25/2012

I have watched Charlie Rose in the morning and I like him. I do wonder why thid thread keeps going.

by Anonymousreply 52807/25/2012

Let it go. Ann's gone. And easy to forget. Savannah Guthrie is doing a great job both in serious interviews (Aurora shooting) and Olympics fluff. She's infinitely more watchable.

by Anonymousreply 52907/25/2012

Because, r528, for the past 20 pages one particular troll has been posting countless pro-Ann statements he has found elsewhere on the internet.

Yes, it is the same poster. Over and over again.

He gets a boner from doing this, and will continue bumping this thread until Christmas and beyond.

I know I am feeding that troll right now, but it needed to be said.

by Anonymousreply 53007/25/2012

The same poster over and over again can't even get the facts straight saying
Ann was the first female minority to co-host today.

Which is NOT true

by Anonymousreply 53107/25/2012

NBC has lost Norah O'Donnell (who is great as a fill in with Charlie Rose) and Amy Robach over the past 6 months. So something is definitely amiss at NBC news. Also Ryan Seacrest was reporting from the Speedo Pavillion this am if anyone was wondering.

by Anonymousreply 53207/25/2012

I loved Ann! Hated Meredith! Matt is definitely political. Savannah laughs to much, trys to hard and seems fake. I will really miss Ann she was so honest.

by Anonymousreply 53307/25/2012

The Today show is dying because Matt Lauer has become boring.

by Anonymousreply 53407/25/2012

I dont hate her cause she can suck a great dick

by Anonymousreply 53507/26/2012

I thought Ann Curry did a great job! She will be missed!!!!

by Anonymousreply 53607/27/2012

Ann Curry was great for the Today Show! She cares has a warm heart and connects with the viewer.... The Today Show content is the problem! I will never watch the Today Show again!

Oh BTY.... Matt did a terrible terrible job during the opening ceremony ... Here's a thought... Maybe he is the problem

by Anonymousreply 53707/28/2012

Wake the fuck up, NBC. Matt Lauer is the problem. Ann made 'Today' worthwhile and watchable.

by Anonymousreply 53807/28/2012

I can't stand matt, that's why i stopped watching it. he is old and bald and he needs to be replaced by a younger man. matt thinks he sooo good looking, but he needs to take a good look in the mirror. i really fill sad for ann. it should have been matt to be fired. i hate him, i hate him a million times

by Anonymousreply 53907/28/2012

I'm pissed and fed up. I liked Ann. I was surprised they didn't give her the co-hosting gig when Katie left. I liked Meredith but always felt Matt and Al pounced on her at every opportunity until she finally quit. I'm not surprised they can't find anyone to work well with Matt. He's seems so competitive that he has to put down anyone he feels threatened by. And Savanah... she's fine in a small role but not as co host. But maybe she won't threaten Matt. Who cares, I'm starting to like GMA

by Anonymousreply 54007/28/2012

I absolutely do not understand why Curry has been removed. In my opinion, Savannah Guthrie is no more than morning mush. She makes me want to vomit. Now that Ann is gone, I have switched to any other channel that is not showing political ads. Which means I am constantly switching channels. I have watched the Today show since it came on originally (as that was what my mom watched). As far as I am concerned, Shame on you, NBC. You are no longer my "default" channel in the morning. Maribeth Campbell, Front Royal, Va.

by Anonymousreply 54107/30/2012

LOL r54!

by Anonymousreply 54207/30/2012

Don't count me as one of those. She's the only intelligent, classy one on the show. I'm now watching GMA since NBC made this idiot decison.

by Anonymousreply 54308/04/2012

Heaven forbid that Ann Curry should interject some humanity into her journalistic interviews. Harry Gibson made goofy comments for YEARS and no one ever fired him. But, of course, he's male.

by Anonymousreply 54408/06/2012

I felt tension between Matt Lauer and Meredith Viera, too. But, Meredith had a hubby in the business and Ann didn't. Julie Chin probably gets passes because of her husband, too.

Guthrie seems multitalented. Maybe Lauer should be sweating now.

by Anonymousreply 54508/06/2012

I can't believe that Matt called Meredith "an Indian giver" on air this morning and they didn't bleep it, at least not on the East Coast. Isn't that a major p.c. no-no? Apology arriving soon?

by Anonymousreply 54608/06/2012

Many people I have talked to liked Ann Curry and Matt Lauer is the one that needs to be replaced. Go figure.

by Anonymousreply 54708/08/2012

He said Indian giver? Surprising.

But Carol making a big deal out og LuAnne saying American Indian, was kind of weird.

by Anonymousreply 54808/08/2012

I want to say I love Gayle King and Charlie Rose I will watch them daily Matt Lauer needs to check his ego

by Anonymousreply 54908/09/2012

Another vote for Charlie Rose. Gayle is tolerable but the show is so much better than the GMA and Today. It's nice to watch something that is actually interesting in the morning.

by Anonymousreply 55008/09/2012

Ann Curry: NBC Didn't Like My Shoes, Colorful Outfit

by Anonymousreply 55108/09/2012

The Today Show is impossible to watch during these Olympic Games. Matt Lauer and Samantha Guthrie do nothing but interview cute little girl athletes, American of course, who do nothing but giggle and coo and show off their medals.

by Anonymousreply 55208/09/2012

I don't like Ann but she's worlds better than Matt.

by Anonymousreply 55308/09/2012

Was it just me or did she seem very uncomfortable today on the Tocay show at the Olympics?

by Anonymousreply 55408/09/2012

r554, wouldn't you be if Matt Lauer were trying to assassinate you?

by Anonymousreply 55508/09/2012

Ann, you're getting 10 million to not be on camera? Why not do some traveling? Enjoy life. Really, sitting here posting on Datalounge is a real waste of time. Disappear for a while--millions of people will appreciate it, and I'm certain both of your fans will understand.

by Anonymousreply 55608/09/2012

I have watched the Today Show for over 20 years, every day, but now they've lost me. I stopped watching the day they had Sarah Palin guest anchor, ridiculous! YES, it is way too politically slanted to the right, Morning Joe is much much worse, and there is NO news anymore! I had always loved Matt, as an OU Bobcat myself, but his ego has gotten out of hand! He's losing his golden by charm! Too bad, I had been a loyal fan of the show! I did watch for the Olympics, but I'm back to my surfing between ABC & CBS? I like Ann Curry, she may not be the best co-host for a morning show, but she is not a horrid journalist as others have harshly stated. Savannah is just a blonde, young, cute face, there's no real sustenance there, she stuck her foot in her mouth a few times but as it has always been in journalism, men get more interesting with age and woman get fired!

by Anonymousreply 55708/10/2012

DL favorite Ann Curry was on the Today Show this morning, interviewing the organizer of the London Olympics (whose name I forgot).

by Anonymousreply 55808/10/2012

I am taken back at how cruel people can be...First of all who would like to take the place of ann curry, and be the hated one? just checking...why I'll give you a million bucks if you are willing to take that spot. It is so UNKIND to say the things that are said about her. That Matt What's his name. Is he kidding. He must be dellusional aling with those fans of his , if he thinks he's anyone really worthy of bragging about. First of all, check out his shamrful character. id this lady take his meals from him, or his home. Did she deprive him of anything? What lack of commradore. I am sorry I defended him when people were talking about how BAD he looks with his hair loss...I'm just saying. People amuze me, in that they have no problem hurting the feelings of others.

by Anonymousreply 55908/10/2012

I liked Ann Curry and thought she was doing a good job. I was shocked, after being there so long I didn.t like the way she was treated when she left, such a quick goodby.

by Anonymousreply 56008/21/2012

I felt Ann Curry was very professional & had class. Maybe Lauer just wanted someone younger and "sexier" next to him. He dated Meridith earlier & they were so "friendly" on the show. Ann Curry was more "no nonsense".

by Anonymousreply 56108/24/2012

Lauer and the black fat man need to go NBC TODAY is in deep trouble

by Anonymousreply 56209/21/2012
He dated Meridith earlier & they were so "friendly" on the show.

He NEVER dated Meredith.

by Anonymousreply 56309/21/2012

Is it true that Savannah will willingly expose herself to radiation in hopes to get cancer? That way they can outdo GMA's Robin Roberts' bone marrow transplant with a full on cancer can be beaten (well at least we hope it can be) story on Today. This could be ratings gold if only people cared about Savannah like they do Robin.

by Anonymousreply 56409/21/2012

When Meredith Vieira appeared on the Joy Behar Show this week Behar tried to get some Today Show dirt from Vieira but Vieira was discreet.

by Anonymousreply 56509/21/2012

I still don't believe they'll get rid of Ann. She's my favorite. Although I can see the stress has got to her. She's lost a lot of weight, her hair is falling out, and she looks a little like Eunice Kennedy Shriver before she gave up being gay. And why did she de-Asianize her eyes?

by Anonymousreply 56609/21/2012

Was she fired yet??????

Please kept bumping this tired thread until I find out!!!!!!!

by Anonymousreply 56709/21/2012

Ann is now doing Good Morning Good Morning Good Morning to You Japan.

by Anonymousreply 56809/21/2012

I heard there's something going on with Matt and that ugly ass Savannah..........this show is a joke anymore. Waiting for Here Comes Honey Boo Boo to be the lead story and for Ann to interview the fat mom on that stupid show. LOL

by Anonymousreply 56909/26/2012

i can't believe what happen to Ann...I myself don't watch Today as much as I did before!

by Anonymousreply 57010/25/2012

Ann curry is awesome! its those damn East coast clowns, they are seriously out of touch with the human race. Shoot even matt admitted to being a metro sexual. Wtf! They are week dumb and full of themselves. They should be reborn all in the pacific northwest so they can grow up into decent people instead of inner city f!#$'s

by Anonymousreply 57111/12/2012

Ann is the most professional tv news personality for a woman ever! why are east coast people so out of touch with what really matters??? First minute there talking about kitten mittens when a major disaster is going on, they got there priorities messed up over there. what ever happened to the n. Korea missels being fired this last summer??? They mentioned it then never came back to it. I was glued to the tv the rest of the day. Ruined my day and wasted my time! This is turning into a rant but tv is a F#$%!@# joke!

by Anonymousreply 57211/12/2012

Jim Bell, Today's Executive Producer was just fired by NBC.

The guy who dumped Ann Curry will be replaced by NBC News VP Alexandra Wallace — the first woman to helm TODAY in its 60-year history.

by Anonymousreply 57311/13/2012

According to a show insider, Matt Lauer will have to take a "significant pay cut" if the numbers don't come up.

by Anonymousreply 57411/13/2012

by Anonymousreply 57511/13/2012

Word is Lester Holt is in talks to replace Matt

by Anonymousreply 57611/13/2012

Meredith and Matt did date 25 years ago or so- they TALKED about it on the air.

by Anonymousreply 57711/14/2012

Willie Geist is on tap to be Matt Lauer's replacement.

by Anonymousreply 57811/14/2012

I guess this would have been the big DL gossip had the Petraeus scandal not overshadowed it.

Sounds like the new producer is moving fast.

by Anonymousreply 57911/14/2012

Ann Curry is now in talks to return

by Anonymousreply 58011/15/2012

Are you kidding, Insider? All of this in two days?

by Anonymousreply 58111/15/2012

because of ratings Hoda and the cunt Kathy Lee will be off the air soon

by Anonymousreply 58211/15/2012

Bringing back Ann Curry would be the stupidest thing they've done In the history of the show. She made the show unwatchable and lost its audience. When they finally fired her, they pissed off a lot of fraus who could not have ever seen her in action.

It's like redecorating your house with bedbugs.

by Anonymousreply 58311/15/2012

All these shows better flop because they better not be taking DAYS off the air!

by Anonymousreply 58411/15/2012
because of ratings Hoda and the cunt Kathy Lee will be off the air soon

It would be a plus to have Kathy Lee gone and put Hoda back into news. Hoda is an excellent journalist and her talent was totally wasted by having her sit there as a target for barbs from the cunt.

by Anonymousreply 58511/15/2012

I do not watch the today show anymore since Ann Curry left,I also encourage any of my friends not to watch the show hopeing it will drop thier ratings and kick Laur's ass off the show. katie never should have given him equal Co-Host. It should have been Katie'show period. Laur is a idiot and Guthery is a ass with a big mouth.

by Anonymousreply 58611/15/2012

Big fan of Ann. I haven't watched since she was fired - especially considering the way they did it. I'm glad she's getting the last laugh.

Oh, and the Sarah Palin stunt didn't help either. I don't find it cute to let a raging bigot guest cohost.

by Anonymousreply 58711/15/2012

This is now after the fact, but clearly, she was too ethnic and along with Al, --not white enough. Who will be next to be chucked under the articulated bus? The problem is that Ann Curry got no support from anybody.

by Anonymousreply 58811/26/2012

Matt will be out of a job come Friday

by Anonymousreply 58911/27/2012

Being not watching the Today Show for the summer as we have a bussines to run and now getting settled in for the winter months I was sadden to see that Ann wasn't on. I figured she was away on vacation, but now not seeing her for awhile I had to ask what happened. I was also sadden to hear that Matt had such a dislike for her, what a shame not to heal their difference and end on a sour note.

by Anonymousreply 59011/30/2012

I'm overjoyed that all these people have horrible ratings, whereas Days ratings are steady and they are better able to handle the budget so they can make a profit. Days isn't afraid to fire actors (Bo/Peter) who demand significant raises.

by Anonymousreply 59111/30/2012

I agree R583. Don't bring back Ms. "Good morning, good morning, good morning everyone." And I agree with those thinking Hoda is being wasted as a sidekick. Bring Hoda over to the morning show and get rid of KLG.

by Anonymousreply 59211/30/2012

Heard that NBC is totally abandoning the "Today" show franchise and bringing back a retitled, revamped morning show, much like CBS did a year ago, major bloodbath .....all current cast to be fired and replaced Got this from a reliable insider ???

by Anonymousreply 59311/30/2012

I really liked The Today show but there just seems to be too much drama developing more and more. I think I'll start tuning in to Good Morning America, hopefully I'll feel more positive to start my day verses all the drama and gossip that's heard from Today. Maybe all of the news programs need to have a daily segment with a quote for the day or some scripture. Maybe try that instead of so much negativity.

by Anonymousreply 59412/05/2012

Matt is damaged goods and I am over him. I liked Savannah doing coverage during the Presidential race, but not so much on Today. I don't get Al at all. But I love Natalie.

by Anonymousreply 59512/05/2012
Matt will be out of a job come Friday
NBC insider
11/27/2012

How'd that work out for you R589?

by Anonymousreply 59612/05/2012

Thanks for visiting from 1952, troll at R594.

by Anonymousreply 59712/05/2012

I love Ann Curry and i am glad that she is gone. The today show ratings will crash and burn from here on with Big money contract Matt Laur at the helm.

by Anonymousreply 59812/28/2012

Frankly,I'm old school.I feel all the mourning shows are garbage. What happen to staight to the point news.I feel sorry for the yupies that whatch that junk.Because they don't have a clue of what real journalisum is.They just want to see a pretty face.Good luck Ann:)

by Anonymousreply 59912/28/2012

Willie will overtake Matt since he and Savannah have much more chemistry than Matt and Sav. Also CBS is running rings around them with a straight news format. Unfortunately ratings aren't good for CBS. GMA is a joke but the ratings leader.

by Anonymousreply 60012/28/2012

Sorry to see Ann go but hopefully there is better plans for her. I don't think Savannah is quite meshing well. I too am looking @ other morning shows more than ever before. I must say I do still really enjoy the forth hour with Hoda Kotb and Kathy. Hoda Kotb is great she makes the show!
