What, 13 posts in and no mention of DL favorite Faye Dunaway?

I thought William S. Burroughs was addicted to morphine rather than heroin. But as heroin is a morphine derivative we can create an alcove for the morphine addicts

Eugene O'Neill's mother

Mabel Normand

Bela Lugosi

Peter Lorre

Coco Chanel

Is Lou Reed actually addicted to heroin? I thought he was a speed freak.

by Anonymousreply 1403/15/2012

Chet Baker before:

Chet Baker after:

by Anonymousreply 1603/15/2012

Faye Dunaway???? That's a new one.

Such a shame about Mitch Hedberg. He was brilliant.

Bela Lugosi

Damon Albarn before heroin

by Anonymousreply 2003/15/2012

Damon Alburn after heroin

by Anonymousreply 2103/15/2012

Yep, Emmylou. She's clean now, but she was an addict for quite a few years.

by Anonymousreply 2203/15/2012

I can never quite believe that Julia Roberts and Cameron Diaz are heroin addicts. I often wonder if Angelina Jolie is in recovery or not?

by Anonymousreply 2303/15/2012

Pete Doherty

by Anonymousreply 2403/15/2012

Poor doomed Chet.

Matt Bomer could probably play him.

by Anonymousreply 2503/15/2012

James Taylor

Eric Clapton

Bob Dylan r6? Know about pot and other drugs popular during the 60's, but didn't know about him being a heroin addict.

by Anonymousreply 2603/15/2012

R23, Julia Roberts started using heroin when she was with Keifer Sutherland. That's why she got the hell away from him before it killed her.

I don't know the identity of Cameron Diaz' heroin mentor, but you can probably figure it out from looking at her past relationships.

by Anonymousreply 2703/15/2012

Yoko Ono (recovered now, of course)

by Anonymousreply 2803/15/2012

Bob Dylan was strung out for a loooong time through the late 70s and 80s.

Gia.

Nico - who even got her own teenaged son hooked on the shit.

by Anonymousreply 2903/15/2012

Many people, and probably many more, are turning to heroin after OxyContin was reformulated. Being unable to abuse it with the new additives, addicts have turned to heroin. Add in the fact that it's cheaper to buy a bag of heroin vs one Oxy pill, former Oxy users easily switch their drug of choice to heroin.

I think we're going to see a huge surge in heroin related deaths, as well as people seeking rehab.

(This is all easily verified with an Internet search, by the way.)

by Anonymousreply 3003/15/2012

OMG, thank you for reminding me, R8, R15/R16.

What a treasure!

by Anonymousreply 3103/15/2012

Thinning the herd, R30.

by Anonymousreply 3203/15/2012

Who wrote Madonna?

Say what you want, but I don't think she's ever been an addict of any drug.

by Anonymousreply 3603/15/2012

Since we control most of the poppy fields in Afghanistan, hell yeah heroin use will go up.

by Anonymousreply 3803/15/2012

[quote]Judy Garland at the end of her life

I seriously doubt this. Her own speed/downers habit just did her in. "Incautious overdose" was her cause of death. It was the same shit she'd been taking for years. Her frail appearance at the end wasn't uncommon for speed users, and those who were just wearing out their bodies.

by Anonymousreply 3903/15/2012

Himmmmmm wrote somewhere (I have read those posts on so many sites now I can't remember where I saw what) that Angelina isn't hooked on herion or oxy, but on fentanyl.

by Anonymousreply 4003/18/2012

Jim Carroll

Sid Vicious

Nancy Spungen

by Anonymousreply 4103/18/2012

Gregg Allman is a reformed heroin addict. He switched to alcohol addiction .

by Anonymousreply 4203/18/2012

I'd forgotten about Yoko. Sean was a smack baby, you know.

by Anonymousreply 4303/18/2012

"bump"

by Anonymousreply 4603/20/2012

re 33, driving a Checker in 80, picked up Mike Bloomfield outside Lone Star. Wanted to go to Eldridge St. I said, I will only drop you at the Delancey end. Different LES then, kidz.

Next day, POST screams Mike Bloomfield OD's.

Oops.

by Anonymousreply 4703/20/2012

Mary Kate Olsen. Ashley's clean tho.

by Anonymousreply 4803/20/2012

Is Damon Albarn still using? I saw him perform at the David Letterman show less than two years ago and he looked healthy.

by Anonymousreply 4903/20/2012

Damon Albarn looks like shit in the "after" photo because it was taken 20 years from the "before" photo. He was a junkie for awhile but there's not much documented evidence of heroin wasting.

by Anonymousreply 5103/31/2012

Was neil young a junkie?

by Anonymousreply 5204/09/2012

Layne Staley

by Anonymousreply 5310/20/2012

There's some evidence that herion does not age a person but that the lifestyle of many addicts does rapidly. Which is why Julia Roberts or Angelina Jolie look great and still use.

In fact, some say that herion preserves looks. But that's another thread isn' it.

by Anonymousreply 5410/20/2012

Irving Berlin

by Anonymousreply 5510/20/2012

Olsen Twins

by Anonymousreply 5610/20/2012

R54, Perry Farrell of Jane's Addiction claims that heroin has absolutely kept him looking well preserved. He says what ages heroin users is the junkie lifestyle - not eating, sleeping, doing whatever to score. But if you're rich and aware of what you doing (like not using too much dope, just enough for your fix) it acts like formaldehyde.

by Anonymousreply 5710/20/2012

[quote] Which is why Julia Roberts or Angelina Jolie look great and still use.

Jolie used to snort it recreationally for a short while in the mid 90s like a number of people I knew but I would never put her in an addict category. Do you people know what a real addict is? I don't really know much about Roberts.

I've known a number of people who played with it back in the day but I personally would never risk anything stronger than pot or hash. LOL!

No it does not preserve you or help you look great. That's ridiculous. Very bad for the skin.

by Anonymousreply 5810/20/2012

I can't comment on heroin, but coke keeps me young! I still look like a young, fresh teenager!

by Anonymousreply 5910/20/2012

Jim Morrison wasn't a heroin addict. He was a drunkie, not a junkie. Not that it makes much difference in the end.

by Anonymousreply 6010/20/2012

Athony Kiedis and the rest of the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

by Anonymousreply 6102/03/2013

Natalie Cole

by Anonymousreply 6202/03/2013

Samuel L. Jackson Florence Nightengale John Belushi (hello?) River Phoenix Nikki Sixx John Frusciante Julian Casablancas Kathy Griffin Elle Fanning Karen Valentine Mimi Kuyzk

by Anonymousreply 6302/03/2013

Steve Earle and his son, Justin Townes Earle

by Anonymousreply 6402/03/2013

Bowie was never a heroin addict. His drug was cocaine. He once said that he hated drugs that sedate, like heroin, alcohol, tranquilizers, etc.

Where do some idiots get their info? On a hunch?

by Anonymousreply 6510/29/2013

Eric Clapton (clean now?)

Russell Brand (clean now?)
