I loved this show growing up (a big part of my love for it was seeing Tony Danza's great butt in tight jeans). A bit corny, a lot implausible, but a good show nonetheless.
Who's The Boss?
|by Anonymous||reply 126||02/28/2014|
Loved that show. Danny Pintauro was my first celebrity crush when I was a kid.
|by Anonymous||reply 1||03/10/2012|
I loathed that show. It was so boring and the decor of the house was way too stuffy.
|by Anonymous||reply 2||03/10/2012|
Loved it too.
Tony was prime JO material.
|by Anonymous||reply 3||03/11/2012|
Alyssa Milano was my first celebrity crush.
I'd still hit that.
|by Anonymous||reply 4||03/11/2012|
Mona was the best part.
|by Anonymous||reply 5||03/11/2012|
Who's the Boss?
21 Jump Street
Punky Brewster (not the cartoon version)
|by Anonymous||reply 6||03/11/2012|
Oh my golly! In the previews for next week, Angela walks in on Tony taking a shower! Can't wait!
|by Anonymous||reply 7||03/11/2012|
I like Judith Light as the judge on SVU.
|by Anonymous||reply 8||03/11/2012|
I always wanted to frost my hair like Judy Light.
|by Anonymous||reply 9||03/11/2012|
I did actually blow a load at least once to that shot of Tony Danza in the shower that was in the opening credit.
|by Anonymous||reply 10||03/11/2012|
[quote]I always wanted to frost my hair like Judy Light.
|by Anonymous||reply 11||03/11/2012|
A bit corny? That's an understatement. However Tony Danza is sexy.
|by Anonymous||reply 12||03/11/2012|
For the longest time I truly believed that Tony Danza was gay and out. Don't know why, I think I must have confused him with someone else.
|by Anonymous||reply 13||03/11/2012|
How can we see that, r10? I mean a pic of Danza in the shower, not you blowing a load. :)
|by Anonymous||reply 14||03/11/2012|
Tony Danza est un homophobe géant!
|by Anonymous||reply 15||03/11/2012|
[quote] Tony was prime JO material.
Was he ever!!!
|by Anonymous||reply 16||03/11/2012|
Former Bond girl Honor Blackman was suppose to play Mona.
But producers were worried her English accent would be off-putting, Katharine Helmond was chosen instead.
|by Anonymous||reply 17||03/11/2012|
|by Anonymous||reply 18||03/11/2012|
He sure was, R3
|by Anonymous||reply 19||03/11/2012|
He recently got divorced, R13, so ya never know...
|by Anonymous||reply 20||03/11/2012|
Danza seems like a nice guy who is also aware if his limits as an actor. Was it himself or someone else who started the story that all of his tv actors were named Tony because he would forget to respond to cues when they had other names.
|by Anonymous||reply 21||03/11/2012|
I guess that's something he and Joey Lawrence have in common, R21. Well, that and their amazing asses.
|by Anonymous||reply 22||03/11/2012|
[quote]Danza seems like a nice guy
Are you being serious?
Remember his nasty homophobic remarks about Ellen & Anne?
Or how about how he made life a living hell on WTB for that child actor who played "Billy" near the end of the series run?
|by Anonymous||reply 23||03/11/2012|
What are you talking about R23?
Katharine Helmond said the kid was let go because he wasn't comfortable with being on the set and all that goes with it. Plus, the audience never took to him.
|by Anonymous||reply 24||03/11/2012|
I thought it had emerged that Danza had hired Ken Ryker back in the day. it was common knowledge.
|by Anonymous||reply 25||03/11/2012|
I never heard about the Billy thing, R23. Do tell more. I always thought that little kid was like a mini-me Tony, even down to the voice. This is what little Billy looked like in later years...
|by Anonymous||reply 26||03/11/2012|
I don't think Alyssa ever went through an awkward stage in her life.
|by Anonymous||reply 27||03/11/2012|
She was a bit thick in the early '90s, and then there was that time in the '80s where she wore braces, but all in all, Alyssa really never had an awkward period.
|by Anonymous||reply 28||03/11/2012|
Oh yeah, she did have a thick period, but she was cute thick even when she had the short, blonde hair in that godawful movie about the twins.
|by Anonymous||reply 29||03/11/2012|
You have to admit Honor Blackman (Pussy Galore) would have been a much better Mona than Katharine Helmond.
|by Anonymous||reply 30||03/11/2012|
LOL R29, that was exactly the movie I was talking about, too (Double Dragon). She was also thick on The Long Island Lolita Amy Fisher TV movie.
|by Anonymous||reply 31||03/11/2012|
R31 - Amy Fisher was no twig. Maybe it was for the role.
|by Anonymous||reply 32||03/11/2012|
I liked the show, but I think the Tony/Angela romance was unnecessary. I feel the same about Monica and Chandler and Niles and Daphne from Frasier. Some romances don't really work, but every show seems to push two leads together.
|by Anonymous||reply 33||03/11/2012|
I actually think the Tony/Angela romance was what really made the show click. Tony and Judith had great chemistry together, and I loved to tune in to see if they'd finally come out and confess their love for one another.
|by Anonymous||reply 34||03/11/2012|
Honor Blackman played the "Mona" role in the English version of WTB. Ran for years. Can't remember what it was called.
|by Anonymous||reply 35||03/11/2012|
Really, R34? I used to get the strong impression that Tony Danza thought Judith Light was too ugly for him as a love interest.
|by Anonymous||reply 36||03/11/2012|
I once saw a Who's the Boss retrospective, and Tony talked about how another actress came in and read before Judith, and there was absolutely no chemistry. When Judith came in, he flirted, there was chemistry, and the rest was history. I think that Tony's the type of guy where if he wasn't attracted to the actress, he wouldn't have flirted with her to begin with.
|by Anonymous||reply 37||03/11/2012|
Judith Light is a vastly underrated actress.
|by Anonymous||reply 38||03/11/2012|
A bit corny, OP? I love that in a show.
|by Anonymous||reply 39||03/11/2012|
I never understood why Tony put up with Angela. I always thought she was ugly as sin, cold, and scary. For some reason the actress radiated evil to me.
|by Anonymous||reply 40||03/12/2012|
R35 "The Upper Hand."
|by Anonymous||reply 41||03/12/2012|
R38, don't worry. The beacon of her own self-esteem radiates a great distance and illuminates all in its glare.
|by Anonymous||reply 42||03/12/2012|
It's on TV Land right now. Tony is STUFFED into those tight pants. I want to dig into his ass like a Thanksgiving turkey.
|by Anonymous||reply 43||07/05/2012|
I didn't realize Katherine Helmond had played Emma Borden in "The Legend of Lizzie Borden" (with Elizabeth Montgomery).
|by Anonymous||reply 44||07/05/2012|
Milano was never "thick."
You ana-Queens need to give it a rest.
|by Anonymous||reply 45||07/05/2012|
The Upper Hand was the UK version of Who's The Boss.
|by Anonymous||reply 46||07/05/2012|
Alyssa was never thick?? Are you nuts? Take a look at her meaty ass and thighs crammed into those 501s beginning at 1:45 in this clip, and then again at 5:22
|by Anonymous||reply 47||07/05/2012|
R45 - She was carrying about 15 extra pounds by Hollywood standards in Double Dragon. I thought it looked good on her, but she was thick.
|by Anonymous||reply 48||07/05/2012|
Like I said, R47. Give it a rest.
|by Anonymous||reply 49||07/05/2012|
Pintauro was a pass-around bottom in the late 90s. I wonder if he has the aids.
|by Anonymous||reply 50||07/05/2012|
Only if seriously underweight is normal, which it is not.
And that's the trouble with too many of you--you cater to "Hollywood standards" as if this reflected reality.
|by Anonymous||reply 51||07/05/2012|
She was indeed thick in "Double Dragon" as well. She's gone through periods of thickness, even at one point during "Charmed", but is mostly able to managed a toned and trim weight.
|by Anonymous||reply 52||07/05/2012|
R49 = HATER!!!
|by Anonymous||reply 53||07/05/2012|
Tony Danza - cute yeah but too skinny.
|by Anonymous||reply 54||07/05/2012|
Helmond was the only funny on e on the show.
|by Anonymous||reply 55||07/05/2012|
Saw Tony Danza in person about a year ago. He was waaaay too thin, but seemed outgoing and friendly.
|by Anonymous||reply 56||07/05/2012|
Yeah, he's gotten thinner as he's gotten older. He used to have a real phatty.
|by Anonymous||reply 57||07/05/2012|
I find the Blackman as Mona story hard to believe. While she's pretty much a national treasure in England, Honor Blackman never made it in Hollywood. If she was on the list, I imagine it was far below the likes of, say, Stella Stevens.
|by Anonymous||reply 58||07/05/2012|
Thank you R47 - but she does look good, even when thick. Weight goes to her ass.
|by Anonymous||reply 59||07/05/2012|
R38. I'dhqrdly call Light underrated, as she just won a Tony last month (and well-deserved, too)!
|by Anonymous||reply 60||07/05/2012|
Such a brilliant idea for a show.
A faghag mom, her gay son, and her drag queen mother take in a closeted prizefighter and his teenage straight daughter. Hilarity ensues.
|by Anonymous||reply 61||07/05/2012|
"Lisa Klugman: But you never really needed a drastic body makeover or anything ...
Alyssa Milano: Rent Double Dragon. I was 15 pounds heavier, and that is a lot for someone who's just 5'2". I looked stocky. I lost the weight, was working out, but I hit a plateau, until I started working with Gunnar [Peterson, my trainer]. I think it's his method - he fatigues the muscles until you're burned out. I'll do 40 minutes of cardio and then I'll circuit-train. He believes in constantly shocking the system. You can't get too used to any type of exercise because you won't see the results."
|by Anonymous||reply 62||07/05/2012|
[quote]Remember his nasty homophobic remarks about Ellen & Anne?
I never heard about that. Can someone elaborate?
|by Anonymous||reply 63||07/05/2012|
Wasn't he a rent boy from the Haymarket on 8th Ave back in the 70s? He's no stranger to pinga. He was at that bar in Chelsea used to be called The Works, had his driver drop him while he had a drink, that story was on here.
|by Anonymous||reply 64||07/05/2012|
Nothing "thick" in here but your heads.
|by Anonymous||reply 65||07/05/2012|
R65 has been smoking way too much ganja.
|by Anonymous||reply 66||07/05/2012|
Or was it The Break? Now called or was called The View! I would eat Danza's ass like a cannoli.
|by Anonymous||reply 67||07/05/2012|
We mean "thick" in a good way, R65. You must be hopelessly white.
|by Anonymous||reply 68||07/05/2012|
Hold me closer, Tony Danza!
|by Anonymous||reply 69||07/05/2012|
[quote]I would eat Danza's ass like a cannoli.
AND how! He had the perfect rentboy/rough trade ass--tight, round and firm. He always showed if off in skintight jeans on Taxi and WTB.
|by Anonymous||reply 70||07/05/2012|
|by Anonymous||reply 71||07/05/2012|
I don't think they mean it in a good way, R68.
|by Anonymous||reply 72||07/05/2012|
Yes we do R72, as in "thicker than a snicker"/thick in all the right places." Who wants a skinny rail?
|by Anonymous||reply 73||07/05/2012|
She's not chubby or fat.
|by Anonymous||reply 74||07/05/2012|
I actually think Alyssa carries weight well, especially for someone who is short. She should not go short and blonde again.
|by Anonymous||reply 75||07/05/2012|
Not saying she is, R74. She looked great voluptuous, and she looks great toned.
|by Anonymous||reply 76||07/05/2012|
She looks great period!
|by Anonymous||reply 77||07/05/2012|
Alyssa is really as sweet as she seems. I've met her and she reallu is someone to admire. She deserves a bigger career.
|by Anonymous||reply 78||07/05/2012|
the greatest moment in Tv history?
It's on season one Disc 1.
|by Anonymous||reply 79||07/05/2012|
I kept thinking why does Angela keep saying, "My son," when Danny Pintauro is clearly a girl.
Who knew huh?
|by Anonymous||reply 80||07/05/2012|
R78 - I suspect Alyssa is happy with the size of her career, and didn't want to become a movie star.
|by Anonymous||reply 81||07/05/2012|
Great cap, R79. I had forgotten that we got a full body shot of Tony in that "shower commercial" scene. I don't think he's huge in the cock dept., but his luscious ass more than makes up for it.
As for Alyssa's career, I think she's done great. How many TV-based actors can say they've been on three successful shows (WTB?, Melrose Place and Charmed)? The girl is likely loaded.
|by Anonymous||reply 82||07/06/2012|
I love Alyssa, R82, but I think it's a stretch to include MP. She was only on it for a season or two in its declining years. That Alyssa was on WTB and Charmed for their entire runs are much bigger accomplishments.
|by Anonymous||reply 83||07/06/2012|
Very true, R83. Even two long-running shows is an accomplisment. Her residual checks probably look VERY nice.
|by Anonymous||reply 84||07/06/2012|
Who's the Boss? will be back in a minute. Stick around.
|by Anonymous||reply 85||07/06/2012|
I'm sure she's racking in the bucks just through syndication.
|by Anonymous||reply 86||07/06/2012|
Alyssa's Beverly Hills home. She's loaded.
|by Anonymous||reply 87||07/06/2012|
Ditto to whoever commented about Tony and Judith's chemistry, it was definitely there. I remember one scene where Tony was play-acting that he was a hairdresser and lifted up Angela's hair into a chignon and their back-and-forth chatter seemed improvised and very natural and charming.
Ditto too, about Judith's acting chops. I saw something on TV once where they describe a scene from One Life To Life in the late 70's, her character Karen freaks out on the stand and apparently it is voted highly on lists of best dramatic TV performances of all time. That same special also said that her scene was frequently used in acting classes in the 80's and 90's for teaching purposes for potential TV actors.
I remember this drama seemed play out over a week, I was 8 but I remember my sisters talking about it. Amazingly the scene below looks like it was taped in one take, I guess that's how it goes with daytime TV budgets. But I really think she did an awesome job.
|by Anonymous||reply 88||07/06/2012|
Judith is a WONDERFUL actress. Much better than some bonafide movie stars of today. The chemistry between her and Tony was one of the best things about the show. I loved seeing them being madly in love, but pretending not to be. There's an episode where they almost make out or have sex, but not quite, and at the end, they're discussing what would happen if they ever went "all the way". Tony looks at her and says, "I'd want you to remember it. And you WOULD." And she deadpans back, "So would you..." Classic.
|by Anonymous||reply 89||07/06/2012|
Judith's judge was one of the most interesting characters on L&O:SVU. I've always liked her as an actress and consider her vastly underrated.
|by Anonymous||reply 90||07/06/2012|
I've met Judith Light a couple of times and she is a lovely, lovely person.
|by Anonymous||reply 91||07/06/2012|
[quote]She should not go short and blonde again.
Exactly. Alyssa should stick to tall and dark. No more short roles for her.
|by Anonymous||reply 92||07/06/2012|
Lyss Jayne has some of the fastest growing hair I've ever seen. She can cut it thisshort, and in no time it'll be all the way back down her back (sans extensions).
|by Anonymous||reply 93||07/06/2012|
Alyssa uses Wen by Chaz Dean. Her hair will always look great from now on.
|by Anonymous||reply 94||07/06/2012|
Alyssa can also look stunning with a crewcut to waist length hair, either duly or straight.
|by Anonymous||reply 95||07/06/2012|
Alyssa was on Wendy Williams last year, and Wendy asked her if she had tracks (extensions) in her hair, and she said nope. She's since cut it just past shoulder length again, but I hope she lets it get all the way down her back again.
|by Anonymous||reply 96||07/06/2012|
Tony is gay. I (I know, I know) had a friend back in the late 80's/early 90's who was a massage "therapist" and Tony was a client of his. He would expect a happy ending every time. One time (the last time my friend "serviced" him), as my friend reached for his dick, Tony bolted up and clocked my friend in the face and started screaming and yelling about him being a faggot and he wasn't into that and he wasn't gay blah blah blah. Sounded like a real freak if you ask me.
|by Anonymous||reply 97||07/06/2012|
Wow, that's weird. He expected (and got) a hand job every time, but the last time he freaked out about it? I do believe that Tony is, in the very least, bi. I mean, LOOK at him...
|by Anonymous||reply 98||07/06/2012|
[quote]Danza seems like a nice guy who is also aware if his limits as an actor.
Very big limits.
|by Anonymous||reply 99||07/06/2012|
Tony played the same guy in everything. He even usually kept his own name as whatever character he played.
|by Anonymous||reply 100||07/07/2012|
I prefer the triple-X parody version.
|by Anonymous||reply 101||07/07/2012|
[quote]Tony played the same guy in everything.
Hammy! Worst actor on TV ever.
|by Anonymous||reply 102||07/07/2012|
R96 - Here are recent pics of Alyssa. Her hair is a few inches past her shoulders.
|by Anonymous||reply 103||07/08/2012|
Thanx R96. She looks great, as does her hair.
|by Anonymous||reply 104||07/08/2012|
I'm watching the episode now where Angela and Tony are trapped at a dingy motel because of a storm and forced to sleep in a pajama top (her) and bottom (him) with obviously nothing on underneath. How they managed NOT to fuck is a mystery.
|by Anonymous||reply 105||07/17/2012|
No mystery, R105 - Angela forgot her strap-on.
|by Anonymous||reply 106||07/17/2012|
|by Anonymous||reply 107||07/17/2012|
would love to fuck Tony's tight ass
|by Anonymous||reply 108||07/17/2012|
Me too, R108. It's like Tony had it written in his contract in the '80s that he'd ONLY wear tight pants. All the better to show off his perfect bubble butt. If no man has ever tapped that, it'd be a crime.
|by Anonymous||reply 109||07/17/2012|
Alyssa turns 40 tomorrow!
|by Anonymous||reply 110||12/18/2012|
Tony has a real hairy bush and fat uncut cock fucked him back in the 80s
|by Anonymous||reply 111||12/18/2012|
Tony has a hairy hole
|by Anonymous||reply 112||12/18/2012|
Tony made me lick his hairy hole
|by Anonymous||reply 113||12/18/2012|
Tony made everyone do that, Danny.
|by Anonymous||reply 114||12/18/2012|
Happy birthday Alyssa.
|by Anonymous||reply 115||12/19/2012|
I could not stand Angela. KH made the show watchable.
|by Anonymous||reply 116||12/19/2012|
Ditto. R116. Mona was the boss.
|by Anonymous||reply 117||12/19/2012|
the opening song is cloying and perfectly awful. The depiction of the advertising world is lame.
|by Anonymous||reply 118||12/19/2012|
Tony was always a bossy bottom
|by Anonymous||reply 119||12/20/2012|
|by Anonymous||reply 120||12/20/2012|
Danza has made homophobic comments going back to his "Taxi" days (e.g. how disgusting it was to get fan mail from men).
He's also been rumored to be closeted. Of course, the former doesn't preclude the latter. On the contrary, it makes it more plausible.
I only saw WTB recently. They were running reruns on TV Guide channel. Light is great on SVU and Ugly Betty but was wasted here. Helmond got off the only good lines, largely because of her delivery.
I didn't see it as a child so I don't have any fond memories of it to mitigate its silliness.
|by Anonymous||reply 121||12/20/2012|
|by Anonymous||reply 122||07/31/2013|
Every once in a while the re-runs will pop up again. I haven't seen them in several months.
|by Anonymous||reply 123||07/31/2013|
Alyssa is the only one who really succeeded.
|by Anonymous||reply 124||07/31/2013|
Danny was such an adorable little faggot in his teens.
|by Anonymous||reply 125||02/28/2014|
How did Judith and Tony get along?
|by Anonymous||reply 126||02/28/2014|
