How in God's name do conservatives think Obama is left wing?

They say he passed entitlements and that he's a marxist. It makes no sense.

by Anonymousreply 7001/29/2013

they are blind

by Anonymousreply 103/04/2012

They don't. It's just an accusation of convenience.

by Anonymousreply 203/04/2012

Conservatives come in two varieties. Master manipulators of stupid people. And the stupid people who are manipulated by them.

That, and Obama is black.

by Anonymousreply 403/05/2012

Rush told them and they believe every lie that Rush tells. Simple.

by Anonymousreply 503/05/2012

well put, r4. the other aspect is that the master manipulators constantly work to hobble public education so as to create an enormous supply of stupid/powerless/easily-manipulated pawns who'll keep lining their pockets, crowding their privatized prisons, and electing them to power.

by Anonymousreply 603/05/2012

Reagan decided he didn't like public education so our government has been at war with our children for 30 years.

by Anonymousreply 703/05/2012

Actually Reagan was pro public education. Only Trent Lott and the nutters wanted defunding and the like. It was the Bush family that identified the happy medium: government funding for private schools!

by Anonymousreply 803/07/2012

How do people believe he's muslim? Or Kenyan? Or out to destroy America from within? Or out to get their guns?

by Anonymousreply 904/01/2012

Because he's BLACK.

by Anonymousreply 1104/01/2012

...I mean a socialist.

by Anonymousreply 1204/01/2012

It doesn't matter what someone of the opposing side says, they will be branded in this way. Republicans are fact-free, ideology-free gangsters. All they care about is victory for their gang and the looting possibilities it uncovers.

by Anonymousreply 1304/01/2012

The Republicans ceased to be a "political party" in any meaningful sense of the term long ago. They are simply a criminal conspiracy of racketeers.

by Anonymousreply 1404/01/2012

R4 = end thread.

by Anonymousreply 1504/01/2012

R16=dumbass who never graduated from the third grade.

by Anonymousreply 1704/01/2012
O is the best friend the Right Wing could want. Not only has he continued the worst of Bush's policies, he has demoralized the Left with his wimpiness.

R10, you're an idiot. If he were such a "best friend", why do they HATE him so much?

I bet you think OBAMA is the reason the Bush tax cuts have been continued, don't you dumbass?

Why do so many people blame Obama for things Republicans have done?

by Anonymousreply 1804/01/2012

r18, why don't you try reading r10 again only after your mother is finished washing your penis, so you won't be distracted.

by Anonymousreply 1904/01/2012

R19? Maybe YOU need to read again.

by Anonymousreply 2004/01/2012

Actually, many seem to, R2.

by Anonymousreply 2104/21/2012

Everything looks left if you're a Fascist.

by Anonymousreply 2204/21/2012

The Republican party has gone to the extreme right wing. Obama now tows the old Republican Party line, but relative to the new extreme right wing, he is politically left of them.

Both parties are far right wing compared to the rest of the worlds national governments.

by Anonymousreply 2304/21/2012

Blacks = Affirmative Action, thus, Obama is the product of the Left wing, and is doing their bidding. They don't believe he could have gotten into the White House any other way, and he's continuing a program that is stealing their tax dollars.

It's really that simple. He's just a symbol to them, and everything they hate.

Remember that their idea of a Conservative, is one that trashes minorities and takes their rights away, so in that way, Obama is extremely Left wing.

Left wing to Repugs = Communist

Communists don't believe in the white male running the show.

by Anonymousreply 2404/21/2012

r23, has it right.

by Anonymousreply 2504/21/2012
It makes no sense.

It's the human condition to want more. Just as an indulgent parent learns that "more" will never be enough for her child, the Democrats will one day wake up to realize that no matter how far right they move, the Republicans will always want more.

Democrats are the weak partner in a national political relationship, and as anyone who has ever been the weaker partner in a relationship knows, nothing will change until they stand their ground and say "enough is enough."

It looks like the Democrats have further to go, however, until they reach that point. Until then, expect them to continue emulating Republicans in order to win approval from conservatards and corporate interests who will never like them no matter what they do.

by Anonymousreply 2604/21/2012

You know what's really sick and sad about this whole thing? The fact that we elected a Black President is considered a fluke. THe "Liberals" will use it as their "feel good" moment. THey criticize him from the Left and are "disillusioned about his policies."

The Right uses all this other stuff. The real test is whether he can get re-elected. He's not perfect. He could have dome somethings better, or differently, or more, or not at all. But he is our best hope.He has to win.

Educated people make too many demands on their government and expect too much from their government. The Republicans have always been portrayed as por- business. They aren't. They are Pro stupid.

by Anonymousreply 3004/22/2012

As a country we are sooooo far from the happiness of socialist Norway, Sweden, No. Europe (you can see it in their well-constructed, cared-for people). Here, angry and in pain. The rich think they are isolated by the wealth, but they suffer from ignorance and greed.

There is a lot of backsliding in the progressive countries tho. England is a mess.

by Anonymousreply 3104/22/2012

The same way they believe Jesus lived in America, rode a dinosaur to his job every day and that job consisted of taking money and food from the poor to give to the rich.

Hell, it isn't even today. Just the fact that Christians can love Jesus, a man who was born a Jew, lived his life as a Jew and died as a Jew and still hate Jews shows they are not playing with a full deck.

This is why the most evil of our politicians know they can get these people to believe anything. They can (as Reagan proved over 30 years ago) get them to vote against their own best interest.

Now throw in the stupidest in other religions, the racists, most of the wealthy, the new voter suppression laws and you can see how easily Romney can win.

We are up against a powerful enemy with lots of very stupid foot soldiers.

by Anonymousreply 3304/22/2012

R32, you're delusional. Obama is "intent" on no such thing and you damn well know it, so why the fuck do you say it?
He's racked up more debt in three years that the entire country did in over 200 and for what?

Factually wrong.

Like most of your screed.
We need a government to step aside so small businesses can focus on creating jobs.

Factually wrong. The Federal Government is NOT the reason small businesses aren't creating jobs. LACK OF DEMAND IS. Idiot.

Obama hasn't increased any regulations either (at least not compared to Bush). In fact, he's got a commission working hard to eliminate unnecessary, outdated, and oppressive regulation whose cost is greater than its benefit.

But regulations exist for a fucking REASON and I'm tired of all this knee-jerk "get rid of all regulations" bullshit from the right-wing. Big Corporations want fewer regulations for the same reason that criminals want fewer police and alarm systems. THING about that for a moment.

The problem is NOT Obama, and you should damn well know that if you've got a brain in your head.

by Anonymousreply 3404/22/2012

Hey, European models "DO NOT WORK": have you been there? Lived there? Have you met the population? They are happy, civilized, educated.

You are spouting some dogma you read on Marketwatch or something. You have no personal, firsthand experience. You have an opinion.

Which, my dear, is worth zip. You are just a reactionary, protecting some strange, dog-in-the-manger angry prejudice.

Which is why, if you read my posting before reacting in lockstep to your cadre, I said we are nowhere near such happiness.

Homogenous has nothing to do with proper social policy. Who are you, Anders B? Got to make it white and alright?

by Anonymousreply 3504/22/2012

Those who say this are lying and those who accept it are crazy.

by Anonymousreply 3604/22/2012

If you think the freeper assault on DL is staggering, go to some of these other websites and blogs and read the comments. Remember when Rove & company directed their minions to get out here on every liberal blog and take the message to them? He did. He wanted the assault to go viral on the internet. Well, they're heee-re!

by Anonymousreply 3704/22/2012

It just stuns me (and depresses me) that there are so many people with no critical thinking skills, who are so willing and eager to regurgitate obvious and easily debunkable lies, and who are completely impervious to reason and being corrected, no matter how many facts and sources you throw at them.

by Anonymousreply 3804/22/2012

MadTV was prophetic about the rise of the tea party wingnuts.

by Anonymousreply 3904/22/2012
pushed government-run health care

Yes, a plan that is to the right of the one proposed by famed leftist Richard Nixon.

by Anonymousreply 4004/22/2012

You don't necessarily need an educated public but you do need a public that has common sense and uses that sense to make decisions. The major revolutions in history didn't start because educated people got fed up. They started because ordinary people had had enough bullshit from the ruling classes.

The problem with America is that the majority population (White) can easily be manipulated by the inherit bigotry that exists within them and the fear it produces and by the religious doctrines many of the right follow. Turn these screws and the people will follow. Add to that an illegal/immigrant population that is ignorant of and devoid of the understanding of its own rights as human beings and its deep religious beliefs which negate the rights of women and gay people and you add to the problem of any progressive movement.

by Anonymousreply 4104/22/2012
pushed government-run health care

Please identify to me in any way you can, citing any facts available, that "ObamaCare" is in any way "Government-run".

Please show your work.

by Anonymousreply 4204/22/2012

I believe he's a socialist, an atheist, someone who is out to destroy the sanctity of marriage between men and women, someone who wants to round up all the guns, someone who hates Wall Street, and someone who wants to tax the rich into oblivion.

That's why I voted for him.

by Anonymousreply 4304/22/2012

Well, he's none of those things either.

by Anonymousreply 4404/22/2012

"Fascists also believe in state control. Republicans are NOT fascists."

The definition of fascism is the conjunction of government and corporate control. Republicans are marching towards Fascism at an incredible pace. Yes, they most certainly ARE fascists.

[bold]Fascism is defined as corporate ownership of government. [/bold]

Which is exactly the agenda current Republicans are pushing.

by Anonymousreply 4604/22/2012

They don't think he's left wing. They think he's a communist. Good news for us. After he's elected he's going to take all the money away from rich people and give it to us (the democrats).

I'm psyched about it

by Anonymousreply 4704/22/2012

Obama HATES this country!

by Anonymousreply 4804/22/2012

Nonsense. We are entering an era of the Corporate police state. Corporate fascism.

Everything will be privatized and profit making will be the foundation and guiding philosphy. Them that's got shall keep it, and them that's not, no one will give a damn about.

People get pissed off at Obama because he didn't "change" things. I find that laughable. Obama's done a Herculean job of cleaning out the stables.

He's done incredible things given what he was up against. But the Stable still stands. If you really want change, you have to change the fundamental structure. You can push one extreme over another, or you can strike a balance, but the structure of our government will not change.

That would require fundamental actions, changes in laws, etc. The Right thinks it can achieve a bloodless revolution and get us to that Corporate state faster, and maybe their right.

The Left has to push back. Working people need to stop voting against their own interests and letting these pigs scare them and divide us from one another.

Anyone watch Maher Friday? His wrap up at the end, about the GOP's war on Common Sense was awesome. Find it and watch it. about 6 minutes of truth telling.

by Anonymousreply 5104/22/2012

R50 is a freeper. There has definitely been class warfare. But it was againstworking people. Obama isn't engaging in class warfare. Do you really think we are all as stupid as you are with that tired, cliched "wisdom" you spout off? I hate how these people will just say any damned thing and say it with certainty and authority and it is from a parallel universe. Magical thinking. Dumbass.

by Anonymousreply 5204/22/2012

Obama is a fascist by this definition because he lets the government buy corporations, and he showers money on businesses he likes.

by Anonymousreply 5404/22/2012

R54, you have it completely backwards. But then I've stopped expecting Obama-bashers to be reasonable or intelligent or informed.

by Anonymousreply 5504/22/2012

"Not everyone who has done well did so at the expense of others."

A lie. They did. They just won't admit it. We need some class war. I have never met a deserving rich man or woman. Not one. Not ever. And I'm over 50 and have known several billionaires personally.

by Anonymousreply 5604/22/2012

As I recollect, Bush/Cheney let wall street, oil, & defense contractors loot our house & set it on fire. THEN they handed the keys to Obama.

Why would anyone give the keys to power BACK to Republicans?

by Anonymousreply 5704/22/2012

Obama sucks

by Anonymousreply 5804/22/2012

No, R58. But you sure make a compelling argument (rolling eyes)

by Anonymousreply 5904/22/2012

>>>"Not everyone who has done well did so at the expense of others."

maybe they didn't at the beginning. Maybe they didn't during their way up the ladder, but once they got to the top of the ladder they are surviving and thriving at the expense of others

Why can't rich people pay the same rate/percentage of income tax as I do? Why can they pay money to a politician to have a new tax law created just for them that benefits them?

by Anonymousreply 6004/22/2012
pushed government-run health care...

The LAST thing in the world Obamacare is, is "government-run health care". How troubling that people who seem to own computers can be convinced of this false notion, all facts be damned!

by Anonymousreply 6104/22/2012

The real curiousity is why they refuse to label Nixon, Reagan, and both Bush boys as Marxist.

At least Eisenhower (yes, you have to go back that far) gave some mea culpas for his Marx-inspired actions in his farewell speech.

You have to go back to Cleveland in the late 1800s to see any president that didn't espouse some version of a Marxist version of the government. After Lincoln's war settled the issue of the ability of the states ability to exit a tyrannical government, the sociopaths that love to control other people via diktat have sought positions of power in the government.

Until states can control 90%+ of the stuff that goes on inside, with the Feds in control of only the most critical areas (like national defense, inter-state disputes, protection of civil liberty) then our current situation will continue to degrade until the "People" (forget Dem vs Rep bullshit) realize they have been serially lied to and screwed by a government that has promised the moon and can only deliver rotten cheese.

Our economy- thanks to the (privately owned) Fed Reserve and our corporate controlled SEC (&FDIC &NFTB, etc.) is dying, since the dollar is worthless, we keep spending trillions more than we make- and no one (at least no one in the MsM) questions whether giving them control is the ROOT of why our economy is in trouble.

Once you answer that question, and realize the answer changes the equation, the problems become obvious. Until we limit the power of the Feds, and decentralize power to the community level (especially when it comes to the control of the money supply and interest rates) then the problem will get worse.

by Anonymousreply 6204/22/2012

R57, what have the Dems done to fix it?

by Anonymousreply 6304/22/2012

R62, you're a freak. seriously.

Enough with the stupid 'states rights' bullshit. That's just code for "We want to be able to own slaves and discriminate and do everything else that's immoral".

And you know damn well why they don't call Nixon or Reagan "Marxist" (well, besides the fact that NONE of them, including Obama, can be legitimately called Marxist in any way)... they call OBama "Marxist" because they can't use the N-word. It's racism, pure and simple.

Kinda like every time they say "States Rights"... they don't want the federal government "forcing" them to treat brown and black people like human beings with all those pesky equal rights and shit.

by Anonymousreply 6404/22/2012

He is, Blanche, he is.

by Anonymousreply 6504/23/2012

Name calling and finger pointing is the refuge of people who've lost their argument if they ever even knew how to make one.

Labels are irrelevant in 2012. Fascist, Nazi, communist, socialist? In our country, history proves over and over again that we are a marketplace of ideas, and we borrow ideas all the time.

The problem with most freepers and most Right Wing extremists is, not only are they delusional, they have no understanding or even basic knowledge about history. They are "dumb and proud of it."

by Anonymousreply 6704/23/2012
The problem with most freepers and most Right Wing extremists is, not only are they delusional, they have no understanding or even basic knowledge about history. They are "dumb and proud of it."

They wear it on their sleeve like a badge of honor.

And want to enforce their version of crazy upon the rest of us in the name of "jesus" even when per Biblical testimony they are the people he railed against.
