Remember him? He played James Evans on Good Times.
It shocked me to find out there are gay rumors about him. He was my first crush when I was just a little tyke. Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine him gay.
I mean, he signed with the Denver Broncos and he was a Golden Gloves Boxing champ. He just seems so straight. NTM, he has two kids.
So, where do the gay rumors come from? Is he really gay?
Another one is Earl Holliman. Is he really gay?
|by Anonymous||reply 101||15 hours ago|
Well, Earl Holliman, like him or not, actually is gay.
|by Anonymous||reply 2||05/12/2012|
Excuse me, but who in their right mind would make a play for Isabel Sanford?
|by Anonymous||reply 4||05/18/2012|
According to DL he has been in a long time relationship with some blond, twink, soap opera actor.
|by Anonymous||reply 6||05/18/2012|
I have always though John AMos was smoking hot. I would love to have seen him naked. You know it's thick.
|by Anonymous||reply 8||05/18/2012|
Saw the cover of the National Enquirer today at the checkout stand. The headline was about guys John Travolta has nailed. There were only a few surprises, but among them was Robert Urich, who I've always had the hots for since I was a tween. Not sure if I believe it, but after getting sued repeatedly, the Enquirer is supposedly accurate now. But maybe they can still spin tales about dead people?
|by Anonymous||reply 10||05/18/2012|
Was Isabel Sanford really gay?
|by Anonymous||reply 11||12/29/2012|
I remember seeing him on some sketch show or variety show and he did some bit (Christ, I sound like Sammy Maudlin) where he flexed his big, beautiful bicep and that was it for me.
|by Anonymous||reply 12||12/29/2012|
Daddy Mandingo please impregnate us with your thick un-cut 12-inch horse-meat!
|by Anonymous||reply 13||12/29/2012|
"But maybe they can still spin tales about dead people?"
Libel doesn't apply to dead people. Hence Darwin Porter's "literary" output.
And expect a shitload of crazy to be revealed after Cruise kicks it.
|by Anonymous||reply 14||12/29/2012|
"John Amos is gay." Heard those rumors for a long time. But if you look at his bio, um, I don't think so...
|by Anonymous||reply 15||12/29/2012|
Holliman's longtime partner, Anthony George, returned to California because he missed Earl so much. Tony was on "Search for Tomorrow" in New York.
|by Anonymous||reply 16||12/29/2012|
r3 - anything documented regarding this incident with moore? cant find anything on the net about it.
|by Anonymous||reply 18||12/29/2012|
"Holliman's longtime partner, Anthony George, returned to California because he missed Earl so much."
How long were they together?
|by Anonymous||reply 19||12/29/2012|
Gawd, you guys keep this up Max Gail is gonna get jealous!
|by Anonymous||reply 20||12/29/2012|
Whenever John Amos threatened to spank, I got more than a little jealous. All he need to do was reach for that belt...
|by Anonymous||reply 21||12/29/2012|
Just the thought of it got me all flustered.
|by Anonymous||reply 22||12/29/2012|
OP believes in the ignorant stereotype that gay dudes can't be football players and boxers. How primitive and ignorant.
|by Anonymous||reply 23||12/29/2012|
I don't think he is homosexual in real life, but he played one on television. On "Two Men and a Half" to be more precise.
|by Anonymous||reply 24||12/29/2012|
I saw him on TV when they did Roots last week. His Kunta Kinte ran around with no shirt on. He was a rippling muscled buck.
|by Anonymous||reply 25||12/29/2012|
The headline was about guys John Travolta has nailed. There were only a few surprises, but among them was Robert Urich
WHAT??? Urich dabbled? Tell me more!!
|by Anonymous||reply 27||12/29/2012|
Letting a hot young actor suck him off on the QT would not make Urich a flaming queer.
|by Anonymous||reply 28||12/29/2012|
John Amos is not gay. It was silver-dollar-nipple actor John ENOS who's apparently gay or bi and discovered John Paul Seponski. People keep getting these two actors confused. It's wrong, and I refuse to lose any more sleep over it. John Amos is as gay as his dick is long.
|by Anonymous||reply 29||12/29/2012|
John Amos is not gay. It was silver-dollar-nipple actor John ENOS who's apparently gay or bi and discovered John Paul Seponski.
FUCK! John Enos can manhandle me ANYTIME!
|by Anonymous||reply 31||12/29/2012|
Didn't John Enos and Mickey Rourke have a "thing" going for a minute?
|by Anonymous||reply 32||12/29/2012|
Yes, i agree that John Enos is still a hunk of hot man meat!
I believe it was he who appeared as the buff photographer in Tina Turner's 1991 video for the kick-ass song "Love Thing".
|by Anonymous||reply 33||12/29/2012|
I had a MAJOR hottie attack over the seldom-seen dad on "What's Happening!" He was a total fox, while Mama weighed like 300 lbs.
John Amos didn't do anything for me at all.
|by Anonymous||reply 34||12/29/2012|
R27 Urich was so fucking fine. Fuuuuuck!
I loved Earl on Police Woman...not sure if I thought he was sexy or not. Handsome for sure.
|by Anonymous||reply 35||12/29/2012|
Urich needs his own thread.
|by Anonymous||reply 37||12/29/2012|
It's Ungaro spring frock level gay!
|by Anonymous||reply 38||12/29/2012|
I wonder if he ever did the little 'mo who played his youngest son.
|by Anonymous||reply 40||12/29/2012|
John Amos has a baboon nose and so does Anderson Cooper so it's not racist.
|by Anonymous||reply 41||12/29/2012|
Didn't John Enos and Mickey Rourke have a "thing" going for a minute?
I read that as Mickey Rooney and winced at the thought.
|by Anonymous||reply 43||12/29/2012|
Loved him on Good Times and was so surprised he made millions on his Famous Amos cookies.
|by Anonymous||reply 45||12/29/2012|
Ignore the freepers, R44.
|by Anonymous||reply 46||12/29/2012|
Urich was so fucking fine. Fuuuuuck!
Indeed he was! And I love how he's obviously freeballing in the pic I posted.
As for Amos, I don't see how he couldn't do it for anyone when he was on Good Times. That big, muscular body, ass and constant VPL was enough to make a straight man do a double take.
|by Anonymous||reply 47||12/29/2012|
R36, I already posted that pic @R32. Unfortunately, it's not showing anymore.
|by Anonymous||reply 48||12/29/2012|
Urich was "discovered" by Burt Reynolds
|by Anonymous||reply 49||12/30/2012|
Really, R49? Tell me more.
|by Anonymous||reply 50||12/30/2012|
Urich also did gay beefcake pics when he was young
|by Anonymous||reply 51||12/30/2012|
I wonder if he ever did the little 'mo who played his youngest son.
HA! That would be so creepy if he was waiting for Michael to turn 18.
But I will say that Michael's teenaged bubble butt in those tight pants played a major part in getting me hooked on phat asses.
|by Anonymous||reply 52||12/30/2012|
I will create a Robert Urich thread. Anyone with said beefcake pics, Burt Reynolds info, etc., please post there! Thanks!
|by Anonymous||reply 53||12/30/2012|
Ben Powers, who played Thelma's husband Keith on "Good Times" had a great ass and nice thick thighs. His body made up for John Amos's absence. Watch the following video from the 8 minute mark until the end...
|by Anonymous||reply 54||12/30/2012|
Amos had/has a house in rural NJ. My school friend lived next door. I think my mom said he is married and rented the house or gave it to one of his kids.
|by Anonymous||reply 55||12/30/2012|
Mary Tyler Moore sucked his dingy when he was on her show.
|by Anonymous||reply 56||12/30/2012|
Wasn't Amos involved with the Gotti family somehow?
|by Anonymous||reply 58||08/09/2013|
[R3], screw Mary Tyler Moore! John Amos is a handsome, sexy gentleman! He is still loveable at 74! He still gives me the Honey-Glow something awful (I'm quoting Fix-It Felix Jr., of course!) Anyhoo, I feel that John Amos is a sweetheart! He is living proof that you can be strong, handsome, sweet, and intelligent, he is a good role model for all people, especially little boys!
|by Anonymous||reply 59||05/08/2014|
His nose is proof we descended from monkeys.
|by Anonymous||reply 60||05/08/2014|
MTM was married to Grant Tinker during the time her show was in production. Though I think she's somewhat C-O-L-D, I've never heard nor read a thing about her screwing around nor have I read one thing about her having any type of racist views. There is also NOTHING about her having said any such thing about John Amos to be found by searching GOOGLE, Yahoo, DogPILE except to link back to the post's comment here on DataLounge.com
|by Anonymous||reply 61||05/08/2014|
[R60], with all due respect, pal, I do not believe that. I believe that John, as we all are, in created in God's Image. Just because one person has the different nose structure does not make him or her less human than you.
|by Anonymous||reply 62||05/08/2014|
Ralph Carter put the bubble in bubblebutt. Just like Johnny Brown put the buffalo in buffalobutt.
|by Anonymous||reply 63||05/08/2014|
Did Ralph Carter die from HIV
|by Anonymous||reply 64||05/08/2014|
Wow, r55, you know Lynn?
I'm from T....and I went to school with her (OTS and college). I could ask her for the scoop.
|by Anonymous||reply 65||05/10/2014|
James Evans made me feel all tingly as a 10 year old gayling.
(Obviously not a photo from Good Times)
|by Anonymous||reply 67||09/08/2015|
Oh my, James and those tight pants. I could never understand why everyone fawned over JJ when manly man James was there being so manly.
|by Anonymous||reply 68||09/08/2015|
Given the opportunity Amos was a pretty fine actor. It's a shame his obituary will start by mentioning his years as second banana on Good Times.
One of my favorite scenes from the entire run of The West Wing. John Amos as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs talking to the White House Chief of Staff. I've been around a few admirals. He nails it.
|by Anonymous||reply 69||09/08/2015|
Sorry --- took a closer look at that photo I posted at R67 ............ looks photoshopped, no ?
|by Anonymous||reply 70||09/08/2015|
John Amos is addicted to pot. I was at an interview he did. He kept stopping to go smoke, and his eyes became very bloodshot. He's just gross these days.
|by Anonymous||reply 71||09/08/2015|
" I was at an interview he did. "
Why would you be at "an interview he did?"
As for Amos, well, he's a good actor. He was the best actor on Good Times. He was uniquely good-looking. And sexy! I never heard any gay rumors about him, although no doubt there are a lot of Dataloungers who WISH he was gay.
|by Anonymous||reply 72||09/08/2015|
He is the only celebrity I waited on when I was a server. He was polite, tipped well, and ate a sausage.
|by Anonymous||reply 74||09/08/2015|
Amos isn't gay. he's either married to, or is shacking up with, some younger (but not young) white woman who's kind of trashy looking. I've seen them at at least three different events/openings together in the past few years.
|by Anonymous||reply 75||09/08/2015|
John Amos and Gavin Macleod are the only living MTM cast members not to guest on Hot in Cleveland. What does Betty White have against them?
|by Anonymous||reply 78||09/08/2015|
Earl Holliman is gay and has a HUGE old dick. Well, literally old, at this point. But he's still kind of sexy, even in his 80s.
|by Anonymous||reply 79||09/08/2015|
I remember Clifton Davis from that time period more. He was so hot; beautiful smile, and a shirt unbuttoned to his abs when he appeared on the Match Game. I was affixed in order to catch a glimpse of a nipple, but he never delivered. I busted a nut, many times, thinking of him while I went through puberty.
|by Anonymous||reply 80||09/09/2015|
Clifton Davis never had his shirt unbuttoned. You are thinking Scoey Mitchell.
|by Anonymous||reply 82||09/09/2015|
George Maharis was another from the Earl Holliman era.
|by Anonymous||reply 84||01/26/2016|
He has such a friendly persona, a gentle giant, perfect to play Kunta as a highly sympathetic protagonist. He said it was his dream role, and he might still consider it his proudest achievement. Also loved Esther Rolle and that they both openly hated Jimmy Walker (now a far-right cretin.) Didn't both of them quit the show because of him? John and Esther were both cool and talented actors, Walker's a creep.
|by Anonymous||reply 85||01/26/2016|

|by Anonymous||reply 86||01/26/2016|
Clifton Davis had scars on his chest from open heart surgery, so I doubt if he would wear a shirt unbuttoned to the navel on television.
Michael Jackson had a major crush on Clifton way back when . . . don't know if anything ever transpired between them.
As for Robert Urich . . . wasn't he once involved with Burt Reynolds?
He was Faye Dunaway's hand picked choice to play her husband on her ill fated sitcom.
|by Anonymous||reply 87||01/26/2016|
Norman Lear with Grant Tinker?
|by Anonymous||reply 88||01/26/2016|
What about Grant Tinker and Allen Ludden?
|by Anonymous||reply 89||01/26/2016|
Earl Holliman was in that teenage runaway movie Alexander: The Other Side of Dawn.
That was a really early gay content film. I didn't know he was gay (or much about him at all really.) That was a pretty bold/move for a gay man to be in a film like that at that time. Good for him.
|by Anonymous||reply 90||01/26/2016|
r86, Georgia Engel's bulifant hairdo was close enough.
|by Anonymous||reply 91||01/26/2016|
Faye Dunaway had a sitcom? Damn I didn't know that.
was she funny at all?
|by Anonymous||reply 92||01/26/2016|
when and where is the link at R84 from?
was that incident before or after he took it out for Playgirl.
|by Anonymous||reply 93||01/26/2016|
Long before . . . the incident had him fired from "Route 66" and replaced by Glenn Corbett.
|by Anonymous||reply 94||01/26/2016|
Btw, binging on Hot in Cleveland, last spring I think, I was cringing when Georgia started hanging out, thinking she might become a reoccurring neighbor character from hell. But thankfully, Betty lost interest in her cutesy old playmate, and started playing with the adults again.
|by Anonymous||reply 96||01/26/2016|
Can we please get back to Mr.Too Big? John Enos??
|by Anonymous||reply 97||01/26/2016|
Clifton Davis had heart surgery?
|by Anonymous||reply 98||01/26/2016|
Sadly, it was only to get his name in the news.
|by Anonymous||reply 99||01/26/2016|
What a class act!
This article really sums up his experience on Good Times.
