Happy birthday to openly gay actor Wesley Eure who turns 60 today. He's probably best known for playing Will Marshal on LAND OF THE LOST and Mike Horton on DAYS OF OUR LIVES.
Between Mike Monday through Friday and Will on Saturdays, Wesley was a part of my life six days a week.
Had major crush on him. He was so good on Days. They could have built the entire show around him.

I had such a crush on him.

WE LOVE SOAPS did an interview with him in 2009. I tried to copy and paste the interview, but their website always runs slowly for me and give me problems. At the link he talks about Mike Horton's "gay storyline" and reveals how and why he was fired from the soap.

I also had such a crush on him when I was a kid. When he came out while on Days, one of his friends who became a fundie turned on him.

Makes me feel old to know that he is 60 now. I thought he was cute back then as a wee lad when he was on Land of the Lost. Looking back the dad on that show was almost kind of hunky, with the Mike Brady perm and chest hair peeking out of his safari shirt. And what the hell ever became of Holly?

Holly was played by Kim Richards. Isn't she on one of those "Housewives" shows? I've never seen one so I'm not sure.

He dated Richard Chamberlain in the 70s! He talked about in his AfterElton interview

Kathy Coleman played Holly you retard. I guess all those blonde girls from the '70's are the same: Kim, Kathy, Jodie Foster, Helen Hunt, Cynthia Nixon, etc, etc.

Ron Harper as he "uncle" -- YUMM

How funny, two gays have played Mike Horton.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | 08/20/2011 |
Who was the other gay who played Mike?
Oh, and what's the scoop on the original Austin, Patrick Muldoon, returning? Has he ever been linked to a female?

Michael T. Weiss (THE PRETENDER, JEFFREY) is the other actor who played Mike Horton. Weiss is indeed gay, but has never come out. R11, so I made a mistake. Calling me a "retard" wasn't necessary.

And two gays have played Mike's best friend/rival David Banning: Richard Guthrie (who died of AIDS) and Gregg Marx. I can still remember the episode in which Mike was questioning his heterosexuality (very obliquely, it was the 70s) and his father's mistress took him to bed to prove his hetero bona fides. I was just a kid at the time and didn't fully understand what was going on until later.

Sadly, this is what Kathy Coleman (aka Holly from 'Land of the Lost') looks like today. I don't know what has happened to her over the years, but it looks like she's seen some pretty hard times.

I don't think Wesley Eure looks all that much better now then Kathy Coleman does. They both look like five miles of bad road. What the hell happened?
by Anonymous | reply 18 | 03/31/2013 |
Mike Horton got younger and younger with each actor.

I was very hot for the dad on Land of the Lost.

Coleman would look a lot better with a short haircut and some teeth-whitener.

My friends and I used to laugh about him being billed as just "Wesley" on LotL...like Cher or something.
Didn't know Gregg Marx came out. He was so hot on As The World Turns (and won an Emmy).

Richard Guthrie died of bad heart medications

[quote] Didn't know Gregg Marx came out.
He hasn't come out.
Not sure why not, as he has retired from acting

Kathy Coleman has written an autobiography called Lost Girl:The Truth and Nothing But The Truth, So Help Me Kathleen.
There is a one-star review up on Amazon that is pretty interesting.

Looks like Holly has gone through a nasty divorce. Has anyone read her memoir?
