I'm using internet explorer, with basic Google. And today the menu bar (or navigation) bar has turned black - so I can't read the labels of the buttons. The top bar (with the URL) is ok. But the next two bars (lines) are black.%0D %0D Help!
HELP! Google Menu Bar (or Navigation Bar) has turned black
|by Anonymous||reply 26||06/28/2011|
I've now found various suggested solutions on the internet - but no explanation of what happened.%0D %0D I'm trying this solution from a poster named fmfl:%0D %0D As I read the replies I think all of us are dancing around the same answer, i.e., altering and reforming the Display. Here's how I do mine:%0D %0D 1. Begin at the Desktop Startup Screen%0D %0D 2. Start%0D %0D 3. All Programs%0D %0D 4. Control Panel%0D %0D 5. Accessibility Options%0D %0D 6. Display%0D %0D 7. Check the Use High Contrast box%0D %0D 8. Apply%0D %0D 9. Uncheck the Use High Contrast box%0D %0D 10. OK%0D %0D 11. Close Control Panel%0D %0D 12. Now everything will be normal (no black toolbars)%0D %0D 13. The next time you Startup you will have a 50-50 chance of no black toolbars. If they are black go back and do steps 1-11 again%0D

Once it goes black, you never go back!
|by Anonymous||reply 4||06/23/2011|
Will you guys help the OP? Don't just sit there, and post stupid jokes!
|by Anonymous||reply 5||06/23/2011|
Switch to the Chrome browser.
|by Anonymous||reply 6||06/23/2011|
Please try Firefox or Google Chrome.

R1's link seems to have a lot of good info. OP, if you're using Windows XP, people at the link say you have to switch from "standard" or "classic" to "XP". But I agree that Chrome is better anyhow.

[quote]And today the menu bar (or navigation) bar has turned black%0D %0D Well now it'll never work.
|by Anonymous||reply 9||06/23/2011|
Chrome is the same.
|by Anonymous||reply 10||06/28/2011|
R10, are you OP?
|by Anonymous||reply 11||06/28/2011|
It's not you. It's Google.
|by Anonymous||reply 12||06/28/2011|
Surely the Mayans portended this!
|by Anonymous||reply 13||06/28/2011|
Mine is black to (Mac user). What's the big deal? It still works.
|by Anonymous||reply 14||06/28/2011|
Blackle is cool. To bad I can't add it to my search engine list in Firefox.
|by Anonymous||reply 15||06/28/2011|
Once you've had lack, you'll NEVER go back!
|by Anonymous||reply 16||06/28/2011|
Ask someone else whose isn't black to print the bar from their computer and then tape it onto your monitor.
|by Anonymous||reply 17||06/28/2011|
OP, how big is your toolbar?
|by Anonymous||reply 18||06/28/2011|
Black Google bar has been displayed first time in Chrome with me, after re-install (didn%C2%B4t start youtube videos - black screen) it is all white and everything is o.k., in updated Opera it shows in black now, but when click for example: "translate", then the menu goes back into white, the differences are so irritating ...!
|by Anonymous||reply 19||06/28/2011|
I have Windows XP and I use chrome. My Google bar is black, too. Time to go look for a fix.
|by Anonymous||reply 20||06/28/2011|
As long as it is a legit thing, then fuck it.

Weird things have been happening in cyberspace lately.%0D %0D First the United Airlines complete system shutdown, and after that, my system has been running slow.%0D %0D Also, I have been getting "registry change" pop-ups when I use Datalounge, and now I also had the black google bar, as of yesterday.%0D %0D Are hackers trying to bring the whole system down? Because something very weird is going on.

R22, read the link at R12 and one of your "problems" is solved.
|by Anonymous||reply 23||06/28/2011|
LOL. It's turned black for me too today but I think it looks better now.
|by Anonymous||reply 24||06/28/2011|
It's a new design, morons.
|by Anonymous||reply 25||06/28/2011|
I don't understand why OP says that he can't read the labels of the buttons. For me (with Chrome), those are grey & clearly visible against the black background.
