What Happens When Rupert Murdoch and Roger Ailes Die?
They're both old, and Ailes is fat as fuck.
I know Rupert has kids, but none of them have his touch of turning shit into gold, or at least profitable in some way. I can see them all fighting over the money, and then end up selling it to the highest bidder, not giving a fuck what happens to it. What does this mean for Fox News?
I think once Murdoch goes, it's all over for their viability.

Rupert Murdoch has trained his children to run Fox News and other businesses that he owns. When he dies they will take over. They know what to do because he is well aware that he is not getting any younger.

Ailes is such a brilliant propagandist at Fox, and that has to be incredibly important to the GOP. Who could replace him?

Rove could replace him.....

Murdoch: There's already been a huge battle between Murdoch's white kids & Deng regarding what she and the little Asian kids will inherit.
Right now the money is flowing in and everyone seems happy. When he dies the shit is literally going to hit the fan.
The weird thing is that son #2 is already taking over a lot of stuff, but he's a hothead and a former socialist. Now he wants to privatize everything, including the BBC & even went to some newspaper to complain of "unfair competition" from the BBC (!!).
He is still a big donor to the Dems & is really into global warming stuff - - which won't go down with the Fox audience very well. His wife is a super lefty too, so when Murdoch dies, I assume that he will be #1, make horrible mistakes (like firing Ailes, turning Fox into MSNBC, hiring KO, etc). And I mean mistake in that it will eat into his $$$$$$$$$$$$$$, plus the ensuing fight with Deng is coming and it will be extremely draining.
Ailes will retire with a golden parachute, be pushed out but might also be hired elsewhere where there is sagging ratings taking his audience with him.
But trust that there are plenty of others to take Murdoch's and Ailes places out there.

They WON'T die. Evil never dies. They are both the incarnation of evil, and it just manifests itself elsewhere, through other evil people.

Murdoch is a right wing nut, but Fox News is entirely Ailes brain child. They have gone from carrying the water for the RNC, to pretty much being the Republican king makers and agenda setters. Right now he just makes too much money to be interferred with. %0D %0D The article at the link compares the atmosphere at Fox to the novel 1984. Ailes is Big Brother. When Ailes gets too old I'm sure he will have some ruthless right wing deputy ready to step in and keep it business as usual at Fox.

Ailes will probably live to 100, like all those other evil conservative guys do.

If there's any justice, it'll be like "Ghost" and those black figures will come for them. Extra black figures to haul that fat fuck Ailes.

Replacement will be a surviving, evil trainee.

The Murdoch children (not those of the Dowager Empress) hate Ailes. There was a ruckus last year when Murdoch's son-in-law Matthew Freud let the cat out of the bag about what they all think of this asshole.
"But there was also this, from Elisabeth Murdoch%E2%80%99s husband Matthew Freud. And it signals some potential bad blood between Ailes and elements of the Murdoch family. %E2%80%9CI am by no means alone within the family or the company in being ashamed and sickened by Roger Ailes%E2%80%99s horrendous and sustained disregard of the journalistic standards that News Corporation, its founder and every other global media business aspires to,%E2%80%9D he said.

Off r13, Rupert's wife Wendi Deng is know to hate Ailes, was/is a big Obama supporter and from all reports has been crucial in his seriously cooling on the station. Though profit fuels his commitment to it, he's been hearing it from many sides about how that will be his primary legacy...this paranoid, insidious utterly corrupt propaganda machine.

I have know Roger for more than 50 years and you could not find a better friend. I respect him alot.

The fear mongering of Fox News has turned future generations away from Republican politics. Thank your friend Roger for doing his part to help marginalize and ultimately negate the power of the Republican party. For that, I respect him too.

Rupert Murdoch's mother is still alive. She's 103 years old. Murdoch is only 81. He could have at least another 23 years in him. He can afford the finest health care that money can buy and seems to be devoting 98% of his energy towards his health/staying alive.

Some issues: death of largest audience demo is a bigger factor at Fox: they are older and elderly and presumably are dying off, losing interest. Retooling the Network to draw and keep a younger demo needs a younger boss and in terms of numbers, a less rigid, fascist and extreme style. Some of the 'stars' such as O'Reilly will probably continue to draw but no one else is as forceful a TV presence (that is not to defend him).
Also, if Romney loses and the House sees its fascist majority seriously diminished (and possibly gone by 2014), the GOP may have to edge more center and become less extreme to be more than a shrinking regional party (poor, middle income Southerners) and whether or not Ailes is alive, that will mean rethinking the obvious propaganda and lying to a large degree. Someone attacked Keith Olbermann above but if that moderation arrives, he would be a good add, if it's possible for anyone to deal with him by then (he's already been hired and fired by Murdoch -- years ago -- so presumably Murdoch would have to be dead). KO is the combination of crazy and wild that works on Fox -- but could be described as 'libertarian' in many ways rather than a Democrat.
