What are they waiting for? It's not going to get better. The public hates him and the critics hate him--his only fan is himself.
Why doesn''t CNN just fire Piers Morgan?
|by Anonymous||reply 227||03/29/2014|
His contract says that he has to be on the air for at least 1 whole year.
|by Anonymous||reply 1||05/18/2011|
CNN should hire the Donald to tell him he's fired.
|by Anonymous||reply 3||05/18/2011|
[quote] The public hates him and the critics hate him--his only fan is himself.%0D %0D Donald Trump likes him.%0D %0D Then again, you basically described Donald Trump.
|by Anonymous||reply 4||05/18/2011|
[quote]His contract says that he has to be on the air for at least 1 whole year.%0D %0D %0D %0D %0D That's not true. They can buy out his contract and he can join me at my pity party.
|by Anonymous||reply 5||05/19/2011|
I would do Piers. Something about a flabby English guy in a suit... But Colin Firth would come first.
|by Anonymous||reply 7||05/19/2011|
He is disgusting.
|by Anonymous||reply 8||05/20/2011|
So we're stuck with him until February?
|by Anonymous||reply 10||05/20/2011|
He's slimy and unlikable. That's OK for being the snotty British judge on a panel. It's not OK for luring audiences to spend an hour watching you chat.
He has some rapport with other brits, but it seems like the only Americans he has rapport with are huge assholes.
|by Anonymous||reply 11||05/20/2011|
Seriously, whose idea was it to put that pasty boring blob in that time slot? Not to mention he's preceeded by creepy scumbag Elliot Spitzer. Sometimes I can't believe people get paid for this.
|by Anonymous||reply 12||05/20/2011|
R12 = Kathleen Parker
|by Anonymous||reply 13||05/20/2011|
Spitzer is at at least smart, knowledgeable, and an effective progressive debater. I saw Piers interviewing Rudy Giuliani and even when his initial question was OK he was equipped with no follow up. This from a guy who had bragged on and on about how he's ultra prepared for interviews.
|by Anonymous||reply 14||05/20/2011|
Why didn't they hire one of the brightest interviewers out there today - RYAN SEACREST!!%0D %0D Besides being gay and a very easy on the eyes,he has a great knowledge of pop culture but I bet he can also handle the serious stuff.
|by Anonymous||reply 15||05/20/2011|
Larry apparently wanted Ryan Seacrest to succeed him.
|by Anonymous||reply 16||05/20/2011|
Ryan Seacrest would have to choose between staying at American Idol or his own CNN show. He can't do both.
AI being on Fox (which also owns Fox-News) there would be a conflict.
|by Anonymous||reply 17||05/20/2011|
the man is named for the plural of pier. What did they expect.
|by Anonymous||reply 18||05/20/2011|
Ryan Seacrest could do a good job in this spot. He could give up AI and be set for life with this show.
|by Anonymous||reply 19||05/20/2011|
I like him.
|by Anonymous||reply 20||05/20/2011|
Wonder who they will pick to replace him?%0D %0D Looks like it won't be Seacrest, so who would be next in line?%0D %0D I'll pass the fuck out if he makes it a second year.
|by Anonymous||reply 21||05/20/2011|
At least Piers isn't a creepy perv like Larry King.
|by Anonymous||reply 22||05/20/2011|
I've come to like his show, but he's probably too classy for American tastes.
|by Anonymous||reply 23||05/20/2011|
In what sense is he "classy"? Who have his guests been this week? Donny and Marie? Celebrity Apprentice? Ted Nugent? Pure tackiness.
|by Anonymous||reply 24||05/20/2011|
Too classy? Don't make me laugh! He's a jumped-up pompous windbag who couldn't even edit a crappy tabloid rag in the UK but somehow managed to get on tee wee.
CNN should have realised what an entirely stupid decision it was to hire him.
|by Anonymous||reply 25||05/20/2011|
[quote]I've come to like his show, but he's probably too classy for American tastes.%0D %0D %0D We must have missed the show on the night it was classy.
|by Anonymous||reply 26||05/20/2011|
This is the same network that gave homophobic idiot, DL Hughley a show. Morgan -- I've asked repeatedly since day one how he got this job. How are any of these British cunts getting jobs in the US in first place? Morgan was not known to the American public, and he has an English accent. Do you know how many people were killing themselves to get his current gig??! Someone owned someone a favor, big time!
|by Anonymous||reply 27||05/21/2011|
R27, in CNN's defense, it probably just wanted its own prime time version of Craig Ferguson.
Why they didn't just hire Craig Ferguson is beyond me, but I don't understand show business.
|by Anonymous||reply 28||05/21/2011|
And remember how we used to criticize Larry King for not asking follow up questions? This guy is much worse!%0D %0D Today, he was interviewing the two Celebrity Apprentice. John Rich was talking about Lil John and stereotyping. You could tell Rich wanted to talk more about it but there was no follow up. Instead Piers asked some stupidAnd then he asked another stupid question about how does Matlin's kids deal with sign language? duh? The fool has done this more frequently than King but at least King had a sense of humour. This guy is a wet blanket.%0D %0D Someone in CNN must owe him something because the guy has no interviewing skills.

Let Rob Marciano do the show... in a skin tight T shirt.
|by Anonymous||reply 30||05/21/2011|

|by Anonymous||reply 31||05/21/2011|
Piers (Peas) Morgan wil be covering the Joplin tornadoon his talk show tonight.. this has disaster written all over it.
|by Anonymous||reply 32||05/23/2011|

|by Anonymous||reply 33||05/23/2011|
PLEASE FIRE Piers - its not even because of the hacking scandal - its because he is just so damned smarmy and annoying.
|by Anonymous||reply 34||01/13/2012|
I can't stand him either! Send him back to the shitty UK where people actually like this asshole!
|by Anonymous||reply 35||01/13/2012|
I checked YouTube and can't find a video of the show where he was classy. Does anyone know when it originally aired. Was he classy for the whole show or just one segment?
|by Anonymous||reply 36||01/13/2012|
lol R35, you're having a laugh. Only the troglodyte morons who watch Britain's Got Talent would like him.
|by Anonymous||reply 37||01/13/2012|
Since a much greater percentage of the UK watches Simon Cowell's horrible shows, does that mean that Brits are, on the whole, of a much lower stock than Americans after all?
|by Anonymous||reply 38||01/13/2012|
At least he doesn't have a massive hunchback.
|by Anonymous||reply 39||01/13/2012|
Piers is changing his shows format a bit, so he hasn't been fired...yet.
|by Anonymous||reply 40||01/13/2012|
He said tonight that he'll be celebrating his 1 year anniversary on Monday night.
|by Anonymous||reply 41||01/13/2012|

|by Anonymous||reply 42||01/13/2012|
Piers Morgan should have been a cot death.
|by Anonymous||reply 43||01/13/2012|
Howard stern is the best interviewer in the country, bar none.
|by Anonymous||reply 44||01/13/2012|
Judging by his colleagues' reactions to him during the New Hampshire primary coverage I'd say they hate him too. Seriously, I flipped by it for a few minutes and they were completely contradicting his political analysis. I felt slightly bad for him. You could just feel he was an outsider.
|by Anonymous||reply 45||01/13/2012|
his show is so boring.
|by Anonymous||reply 46||01/13/2012|
Don't know what you're on about OP. I don't see any problem with him.
|by Anonymous||reply 47||01/14/2012|
r44 you're not serious are you?
Stern gets in one or two decent questions, then descends into the juvenile, white male bullshit that infests internet culture.
It's a giant white male circle jerk, with that annoying side-kick to kiss his ass and make his race and gender ignorance OK because she's a black woman.
|by Anonymous||reply 48||01/14/2012|
I loathe him.
|by Anonymous||reply 49||01/14/2012|
Piers will ask his guest the difficult questions that other host won't ask. You have to give him that much.
|by Anonymous||reply 50||01/14/2012|
They should replace him with Meryl Streep. She would do an amazing job, and her accent would be better than Piers'.
|by Anonymous||reply 51||01/14/2012|
Screw that, Michelle Williams would fill his seat much better than Meryl would!
|by Anonymous||reply 52||01/14/2012|
You're both wrong. Viola Davis will be his replacement!
|by Anonymous||reply 53||01/14/2012|
Yes, I agree that Meryl as a TV talk show host would represent the pinnacle of her career.
|by Anonymous||reply 54||01/14/2012|
Research shows Piers Morgan has hit high numbers in the bitter queen and OCD demos. Renew?
|by Anonymous||reply 55||01/14/2012|
Hasn't he been under investigation recently in the British tabloids scandal?
|by Anonymous||reply 56||01/14/2012|
He looks tonight as if he knows it is soon over.
|by Anonymous||reply 57||03/02/2012|
Yes I'm almost sure of it R56. When he was the editor of the Daily Mirror, he admitted that phone hacking went on. He recounted listening to a voice mail left on Heather Mill's cell phone. I hope he gets the booterini, he an insufferable twat.
|by Anonymous||reply 58||03/02/2012|
I don't think they're going to get rid of him for a while.
He was in a vulnerable position for a time, but now that he's reached the 1 year mark and is becoming better known in America and being sought out by some of the Presidential candidates etc., he seems to be more secure.
|by Anonymous||reply 59||03/02/2012|
I agree with R50 that he asks questions that the other reporters wouldn't dare.
He was great with what's her name- the witch politician who never masterbates.
|by Anonymous||reply 60||03/02/2012|
Piers Morgan is known primarily for his willingness to fake stories in the UK that served the fascism. His job in 2012 is to support the right in the election with fake stories.
|by Anonymous||reply 61||03/02/2012|
Why don't they deport this ugly pig back to the UK? He's annoying as hell and he looks like shit for being only 45.
|by Anonymous||reply 62||03/03/2012|
While they're at it, why don't they fire Anderson Cooper, Erin Burnett, John King, and the other overpaid news personalities who haven't done anything to get CNN's ratings out of the shitter!!!
|by Anonymous||reply 63||03/03/2012|
He's spectacularly sucky.
|by Anonymous||reply 64||03/03/2012|
I'm all for them firing Piers, John King and Erin Burnett, but not Anderson.
|by Anonymous||reply 65||03/03/2012|
Piers, John King, and Wolf Blitzer are all terrible. Pompous, egotistical, and overpaid.
|by Anonymous||reply 66||03/03/2012|
Piers Morgan should be the face of Durex.
A stern warning to all you breeders out there highlighting the perils of unprotected sex.
|by Anonymous||reply 67||03/03/2012|

|by Anonymous||reply 68||03/03/2012|
John King seems to know his Magic Wall pretty well. Arrogant or not, he's knows far more about most of those counties and their political breakdowns and voting patterns than most people.
|by Anonymous||reply 69||03/03/2012|
John King is very astute, knowledgeable, and skilled at his job.
|by Anonymous||reply 70||03/03/2012|
When's the contractual year going to end? He seems to be on air, like, forever!
|by Anonymous||reply 71||03/03/2012|
Piers already reached his 1-year anniversary on CNN in January.
|by Anonymous||reply 72||03/03/2012|
No, Piers doesn't come close to classy. He's indifferently educated, and 'made his name' courtesy Murdoch. He 'edited' the grime-sheet 'News Of The World', (recently closed down in disgrace).
Morgan then went on to 'edit' the tabloid 'Mirror', but was escorted from the building after front-paging obviously faked soldier-atrocity pictures. He was set up and fell for it. He was also in serious trouble for abusing inside knowledge from his City hacks to pocket-lining advantage. So no, not quite a distinguished journalistic career.
There's too many reasons 'Private Eye' magazine always refers to him as 'Piers Moron.' One perhaps being that Moron once effortlessly alienated an entire TV studio during a current affairs quiz, couldn't keep up, then tried to threaten Private Eye's editor - a good journalist - by saying 'I know where you live.' But then, Moron 'made his name' through Murdoch.
|by Anonymous||reply 73||03/03/2012|
Piers Morgon is a bigot with a big ego with no interviewing skills. Shame on CNN who would hire such a person on prime time - watch out CNN, this guy will take you down with him
|by Anonymous||reply 74||03/18/2012|
I'm sad to say that I don't see CNN getting rid of Piers for many, many, years.
Hope that I'm wrong on this one.
|by Anonymous||reply 75||03/18/2012|
Blitzer and Morgan should be fired. John King should stay. I look forward to him being high on the air when Queen Elizabeth dies. "The Queen is DEAD, long live the KING!"
|by Anonymous||reply 76||03/18/2012|
His condescending tone and disprespectful behavious towards minority guests and women and very little diversified guests (such as those from Asian countries)and lack of U.S. experience and harasasment attitude qualifies him to be fired

|by Anonymous||reply 78||04/01/2012|

|by Anonymous||reply 79||04/11/2012|
OMG!!!!!!..It's like he interviews himself like he's the story...Go Just Go..It's gonna happen anyway just end it now
|by Anonymous||reply 80||07/01/2012|
I hope his days at CNN are numbered. Actually I'd rather Anderson take the slot and actually do a Larry King type show. Instead Anderson is in this other time slot acting ridiculous.
What baffles me is Wolf Blitzer. The ratings keep plunging and they keep expanding his time slot. He is nervewracking. The sound of his voice drives me nuts.
For actual news on a nightly basis, I go to ABC or NBC. If I want commentary I go to MSNBC. The only time I'll watch CNN is if something huge, and major happens. Some disaster or world-changing event. I mean, I'd rather watch C-Span then CNN.
|by Anonymous||reply 81||07/01/2012|
They should dump Morgan and Cooper. Use those millions to develop new talent.
|by Anonymous||reply 82||07/01/2012|
I won't watch CNN with this Murdoch moron on their staff. Smooth move, CNN - you lost a viewer.
|by Anonymous||reply 83||07/01/2012|
Today is the first time I really watched/paid attention to his show. CNN should get rid of him. He talks over everyone looks like hell comes across like hell, doesn't listen or seem to to feel the emotions of real people. GET RID OF HIM.
|by Anonymous||reply 84||07/21/2012|
Larry King was so much better! Piers shithead needs to go back to England! He is arrogant and I get the impression he thinks he is above Americans!Take this loser off the air!!
|by Anonymous||reply 85||07/21/2012|
I can't stand him. He's unwatchable. Even when he has someone on I might be interested in watching I can't get thru more than ten minutes.
I wonder if the Wise Men of CNN or Turner Broadcasting will eventually figure out the fact that they have people like Piers Morgan and Wolf Blitzer dominating their news network might affect CNN's low ratings.
I watched Thomas Roberts last night and he is gorgeous and really good at his job. NBC rules!
|by Anonymous||reply 86||07/21/2012|
Oy, Madonner is still banned from me show!
|by Anonymous||reply 87||07/21/2012|
We DO NOT WANT him back in England They need to pull the plug on CNN
|by Anonymous||reply 88||07/21/2012|
So have we figured out which anchor John King is banging? Poppy Harlow? Kaye Bouldwin?
|by Anonymous||reply 89||07/21/2012|
He is terrible. Why did they even hire him to replace Larry King? Weren't there any other viable contenders for the job?
|by Anonymous||reply 90||07/21/2012|
Piers is one of Murdoch's 'children.' l Like Rebecca Wade he has no education and was promoted to Editor at a ridiculously young age. Murdochf like unscrupulous sociopathic assholes. I wonder why.
|by Anonymous||reply 91||07/21/2012|
I think most people just hate him because of the time slot he took over. Ironically, these were probably the same people that were rallying for Larry King to get his old ass off the air. If Piers were anywhere else on TV, he would just be another innocuous TV personality.
Some Americans just have a phobia of British people. Like r85, they think British people view themselves as "better" than Americans for some dumb reason.
The style of his show is a nice departure from the other blow hards on cable news. Its nice to have someone interview from a different point of view. And of course he gets extra points for telling Madonna to fuck herself.
|by Anonymous||reply 92||07/21/2012|
They needed him for the royal wedding. He had an "in" CNN never would have had to cover it. He could interview people who would not have talked with a CNN interviewer otherwise.
|by Anonymous||reply 93||07/21/2012|
Keep him! I beg you! We don't want him back!
|by Anonymous||reply 94||07/21/2012|
[quote]Some Americans just have a phobia of British people. Like [R85], they think British people view themselves as "better" than Americans for some dumb reason.

He's a tacky hire.

CNN webpage headline for today:
Romney Strikes Rare Notes of Faith:
"In a speech to a wounded nation, presidential hopeful Mitt Romney returned to his roots of faith in the face of a national tragedy.
It was a rare public expression of faith for the candidate who has kept much of his faith private.
Romney, who was the head of a Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints congregation in Boston, quoted heavily from the Bible and the Book of Mormon as he stood before a small crowd in New Hampshire."

I must have slept thru the election. Is he already President? SNN and other news media are acting like he's inevitable.
Last time I looked, President was Barack Obama, who spoke comfort to everyone without quoting a single scripture. So does this mean Bishop romney can separate his callous, venal, proposals and his whoring after Rove & Cheney from his spiritual life?
Piers Morgan is a symptom. The folk at CNN have a much bigger problem.
|by Anonymous||reply 97||07/21/2012|
I called it SNN by mistake. Then I thought about it. Shit News Network sounds right, somehow.

R97, when Obama was running for president in 2008 he went to Europe and various other places talking with the leaders of the nations LIKE HE WAS PRESIDENT WHEN NOT EVEN THE VOTE COUNT TOOK PLACE! Please!
BTW, if Romney didn't make any comments about the tragedy, you would be the first one to bitch how insensitive Romney is!
|by Anonymous||reply 100||07/22/2012|
It's definitely not the same, R100. Obama was drawing huge crowds everywhere he went in 2008.Coverage of his foreign trip could hardly be ignored.
CNN is just a whore-news organization and having Romney prominently featured regularly is part of their plan. Read the dailyKos. CNN needs this race to be close and to pump Romney up because it will generate revenue and help the ratings. Not because there's a groundswell of support building for him. They hope to create the groundswell with these perceptions that Romney is The One.
They featured Romney on the 4th of July because he "interrupted his vacation" to walk in a local parade. At the same time, Obama had a huge picnic for members of the armed forces and their families, and got nothing from CNN. Romney usually has a photo spread on the website too. He is always "above the fold."
I do this stuff for a living and I know a set up when I see one. The media is biased towards Romney. They are portraying Obama as a "nice guy in over his head." This incenses me. The news is slanted to favor Romney.
If a Democrat was guilty of the excesses and the messes Romney's had in his recent past, especially at this time of economic uncertainty, the media would crucify him.
Romney gets a free pass for not disclosing his tax returns, and for destroying jobs and businesses. In his time as governor, Massachusetts plummeted to 47th in job creation. That's not a reccommendation for the job of POTUS. When you consider what Obama has accomplished with no help from Congress, it's insulting.
CNN is out of touch and desperate. The have people like Piers Morgan and a bunch of other losers with no news judgement and a reactionary point of view. Piers belongs on Faux. He's scum. Rupert stepped down, so should Piers.
|by Anonymous||reply 101||07/22/2012|

His coverage of Sandy has been HORRIBLE. He just had on Michael Moore, and Morgan spent more time talking than his guest. Moore looked flabbergasted. He is now attacking Alan Aviles, President of the NYC Health & Hospitals Corp., for the evacuation of Bellevue Hospital earlier today.
Does Morgan not understand the historic scope of this storm? Can't the Monday morning quarterbacking wait until the crisis is over? I cannot stand this show but am watching because CNN seems to be doing a better job covering the storm's impacts than any other national outlet. This guy needs to be fired. He and Wolf Blitzer are idiots who are contributing greatly to the downfall of CNN in the ratings.
|by Anonymous||reply 106||10/31/2012|

|by Anonymous||reply 107||10/31/2012|

|by Anonymous||reply 108||10/31/2012|
I hated the hospital interview. He would not shut the fuck up about the mothers with newborns being MOVED..oh no!! Did any of them die in the process? People have been killed and injured from this hurricane and he's more worried about them being moved to another facility, who CARES. He needs to go back to Europa.
|by Anonymous||reply 109||11/01/2012|
[quote]He is now attacking Alan Aviles, President of the NYC Health & Hospitals Corp., for the evacuation of Bellevue Hospital earlier today.
Morgana practically blamed Aviles personally for all the problems Bellevue is now facing. "Isn't it YOUR responsibility to prevent this from happening?"
Thank god I also get BBC World News. Their reporting on Sandy has been measured and objective, free from hysterics, finger pointing, and politicking.

No one watches his English interview show here in the UK, where he interviews very minor C-list celebs, and the gimmick is he gets them to cry as they confess or discuss their emotional dramas .... at least he seems to have major names in the US.
|by Anonymous||reply 112||11/01/2012|
Sounds as if Morgan's doing some stupid rant to garner ratings. That's pretty much all CNN does anymore. Most of it seems to be aimed at picking off Faux viewers.
Whatever it is, he's no Murdoch-style conservative by any stretch of the imagination.
|by Anonymous||reply 113||11/01/2012|

The Kardashians are huge in the UK.
You better not be a Brit with all the trash they produce and worship there.
Maybe you're a Canadian? If so, you've got Harper.
So, fess up, where you from, boo?
|by Anonymous||reply 114||11/01/2012|
I never thought he should have been hired in the first place. This ALL started thanks to fucking TRUMP and his "Celebrity Apprentice" which Morgan won a few years back...Morgan has a sleazy tabloid-running past and somehow he gets to replace Larry King (note I never liked King either but he's better and less sleazy than Morgan) ? The ratings suck but CNN won't fire him...I mean it's not like they're gonna improve ever lol
|by Anonymous||reply 115||11/01/2012|
The Trump connection probably carries some weight. Morgan hit his absolute nadir during the crane coverage, taking pains to plant his nose firmly in Trumps butt crack. I nearly died laughing when I watched. I wrote this on the collapsed crane thread:
[quote]Piers Morgan is telling us that this very morning Donald Trump could tell that the weight distribution was off on the apparatus and that he notified someone to do something about it! Did I mishear this gem? Trump is inflicting himself in NY's latest, greatest drama/crisis/tragedy possibly due to negligence!
Inflicted via his surrogate at CNN.

I loved it when he reported Monday night there was 3 feet of water on the trading floor of the NYSE and then proceeded to ask every field reporter their thoughts on the subject(including those in NJ). This was subsequently proven to be a bogus rumor originating from some idiot's Twitter. Amazing journalism, Piers. They're polishing your Pulitzer right now. I'm done with this moron.

Speaking as a Brit the reason he went over there is he's finished over here. The phone tapping has seen to that. He always played to the lowest common denominator anyway. His solo shows got VERY poor ratings over here. He is always mentioned over here when some comedian wants to convey the worst kind of scum.
As for crap TV, there is plenty of good programming to watch. They put the stuff I don't watch (like the Jardashians or home grown crap like Geordie Shore) on channels that make it plain what sort of crap they show, which helps. If there's nothing good on do yourself a favour and read a book!
Why so many Anons? If you guys had been anonymous during the War of Independence you'd still be a territory. It takes balls to take a stand and that's an American attribute I admired. I don't understand this celebration of mediocrity.
|by Anonymous||reply 121||11/11/2012|
He got trashed in The Leveson Report.
|by Anonymous||reply 122||11/30/2012|
The perfect replacement for Piers would be and I know he already has many jobs is Bob Costas
|by Anonymous||reply 123||11/30/2012|
He makes my skin crawl.
And, he just loves to hear himself talk....
and talk and talk. SHUT UP and let the guest say more than 10 words.
|by Anonymous||reply 124||11/30/2012|
Because they're CNN. That's like expecting a retard to not smear poop on the walls.
|by Anonymous||reply 125||11/30/2012|
His Donald Trump ass kissing alone should be grounds for dismissal.
|by Anonymous||reply 126||11/30/2012|
His ratings are lower than whale excrement.
|by Anonymous||reply 127||11/30/2012|
The reason Morgan is sniffing around American shores for a job is because he is unemployable in the UK. How many other journalists, or trumped up tabloid reporters, do you see looking for work in the US? Oh, that's right, zero!
|by Anonymous||reply 128||11/30/2012|
Wonder when his contract is up? I hope Zucker's first order of business is to fire his ass.
|by Anonymous||reply 129||11/30/2012|
[quote]How many other journalists, or trumped up tabloid reporters, do you see looking for work in the US? Oh, that's right, zero!
Not true. Les Hinton former News Corp Murdoch lackey became publisher of the WSJ, to name one. He had to step down due to his positions at NI during the hacking era.
|by Anonymous||reply 130||11/30/2012|
I hope Zucker fires this piece of sh_t and Blob Blitzer, too.
|by Anonymous||reply 131||11/30/2012|
Didn't Zucker give him his "America's Got Talent" gig? Get used to this odious creature on your screens for the long haul.

John Lithgow presented an award at the British Comedy Awards. His spirited gracious speech praised UK acting talent, and urged it to cross the pond. 'But why do you have to send us assholes like Piers Morgan?!' he concluded, to knowing cheers and applause.
It's comforting that to anyone with an IQ approaching three figures Morgan is one of the biggest punchlines in The West.

|by Anonymous||reply 139||12/18/2012|
I like him, too, R108. He gets interesting guests and takes a different spin in interviewing them and drawing them out.
|by Anonymous||reply 140||12/18/2012|
He always seems mean to his guests.
|by Anonymous||reply 142||12/19/2012|
Is his show still taped? That was an initial criticism. He tried to exert more control over guests and the direction of the conversation. And yet, with the help of favorable editing, he still comes off this way?
|by Anonymous||reply 143||12/19/2012|
Don't forget that CNN is the network which gave Heather Mills a go at Larry King's spot. Her interview of Paul Newman want unremarked upon. When Paul mentioned that his daughter ran the organic part of the Newman's Own brand, Mills said, "What about your other children? You do have other children, don't you have a son? What's he doing?"
Yeah well, he HAD a son who died of a drug overdose.
Like Martin Short, Newman deflected the question gracefully.
|by Anonymous||reply 144||12/19/2012|
I don't think he's significantly worse than Larry King or the contemptible Barbara Walters.
|by Anonymous||reply 145||12/19/2012|
Just saw a clip where he told his guest "you're an incredibly stupid man aren't you!". His guest was the pres of the Gun Owners of America. Whether you're pro gun or anti gun, it's completely unprofessional to tell a guest that he's stupid.
|by Anonymous||reply 146||12/19/2012|
I can't stand to look at his smug, ugly face for more than 2 seconds.
Jackass just loves to hear himself talk.
|by Anonymous||reply 148||12/20/2012|
Tonight was the last time I will ever stomach Piers Morgan. Only his opinion's are ever heard. I wish he would go back home. I am sick of hearing about how much better the British are. CNN - wake up and get rid of the reason you are losing your ratings.
|by Anonymous||reply 149||12/20/2012|
Why doesn't Datalounge ban the OP, that would be a better idea.
|by Anonymous||reply 150||12/20/2012|
We can't send him back to Britain, they don't want him. He is even more reviled there than he is here.
|by Anonymous||reply 152||12/21/2012|
I don't know what kind of contract Piers has but he should be turfed. But I read somewhere that Zucker's a fan of his. If that's the case I guess he's going nowhere.
They should move Anderson into the 9:00 slot and give him a show interviewing people. He's actually very good when he does 60 Minutes stories.
|by Anonymous||reply 153||12/21/2012|
Actually, Anderson as interviewer might just be a job he could do.
The thing about Larry King was it was an interesting zone. Larry never went for the kill. I don't know if he could go for the kill. But people with something to say got a chance to say it. As did people without something to say, too often, but you get my drift.
|by Anonymous||reply 154||12/21/2012|
He sucks big time...petition to get rid of piers???
|by Anonymous||reply 155||12/22/2012|
Cancer survivor and DL regular, Tig Notaro, should replace him.
|by Anonymous||reply 156||12/22/2012|
If they fire him, who would take his place on such short notice?
|by Anonymous||reply 158||12/27/2012|
As a journalist, you're suppose to remain neutral on all issues...Piers is just too opinated and forceful with his guests. What's more, he never lets anybody finish and constantly interrupts. Not good. Let's get him replaced (with an American) pronto!
|by Anonymous||reply 159||01/03/2013|
[quote]Why doesn't CNN just fire Piers Morgan?
Because Piers Morgan has the highest-rated show on CNN.
|by Anonymous||reply 160||01/03/2013|
Let's see, he's a CROOKHOLSTER? A CHICKHOLSTER? Don't keep us in suspense, R157.

r.162-fat frau with 8 kids and a husband with way too many weapons.
|by Anonymous||reply 163||01/09/2013|
I've only seen his show a couple times, but I liked what I saw. Sure he is a bit dumpy- but he my impression is that he is smart and asks good questions- in the two times I have watched for more than 10 minutes.
|by Anonymous||reply 164||01/09/2013|
If England is so much safer than the USA why doesn't the little bitch go back home! Oh that's right ! They don't want him there either. A man without a country. Poor little bitch!
|by Anonymous||reply 165||01/12/2013|
Morgan is using the gun nuts to build his reputation and it is working.
|by Anonymous||reply 166||01/12/2013|
PM is nothing but a tool. He isn't a citizen of the United States. He and his family haven't paid taxes to this country all their lives, but he wants to talk as if his words have value to real Americans. Get him out of our country.
|by Anonymous||reply 167||01/17/2013|
His show rocks! so much better than Larry King.
|by Anonymous||reply 168||01/17/2013|
I don't like when he talks a lot and does not allow the guests to finish their points.
|by Anonymous||reply 169||03/20/2013|
R167 I agree. He should be deported. And the way he kisses Donald Trumps' ass with all that "Mr. Trump" shit is revolting. And he's so damn smug and ugly.
I would've rather have had Ryan Seacrest take over for Larry King, and that's saying a lot because I can't stand Ryan. But at least he's not a smug smart-ass.
|by Anonymous||reply 170||03/20/2013|
I use to love English accents, but now, thanks to Piers Morgan, they grate like hell. It all sounds like "gulp, gulp, gulp, gulp, gulp" to me whenever he's on.
|by Anonymous||reply 171||03/24/2013|
Yes, Morgan's 400,000 viewers beats Anderson's 300,000, r160, but that's nothing to crow about.
Hell, shitty Nancy Grace usually averages around 6 to 800,000 viewers.
|by Anonymous||reply 172||03/24/2013|
How does Anderson manage to stay on the air with 300,000 viewers?
|by Anonymous||reply 173||03/24/2013|
Cable News Ratings - Wed March 20
O'Reilly 3,068 Cooper 521 Ed 612 Grace 853
Hannity 1,797 P.Morgan 460 Maddow 830 Dr.Drew 809
Greta 1,423 Cooper 358 O'Donnell 758
Anderson Cooper usually pulls in 350,000 to 500,000 a night. And, that's pretty bad!
|by Anonymous||reply 174||03/24/2013|
So Anderson is always last in his time spot?
|by Anonymous||reply 175||03/24/2013|
CNN needs to put a fresh show on at 10.
|by Anonymous||reply 176||03/24/2013|
Old CNN upper management is too embarrassed to admit that even at his age, Larry King was much more popular, hence they made a poor move.
|by Anonymous||reply 177||03/24/2013|
Good point R171. There's so much to loathe about Piers Moron that I'd never got around to hating his voice. Such a vital quality in any broadcaster, and in his case a big part of his huge inverse appeal.
It's a sort of estuary whine with third-rate editorial authoritarianism badly grafted on top. That said, it's an accurate expression of his abilities.
(Brit here who fears he'll inevitably crash in the US then come back like a conquering hero to stink up the UK airwaves again.)
|by Anonymous||reply 178||03/24/2013|
He's so damn ugly to even look at. Why can't CNN get some younger hosts?
|by Anonymous||reply 179||03/24/2013|
CNN had to get rid of Larry King because of the age of his audience. The battle is over the 18 to 49-year-old demographic, which is what advertisers want. Starting 20 plus years ago at least a third of King's audience was over 65, and it only got older and smaller with time. It died off. The same thing is happening to the Fox audience. It's huge, but it's very old and shrinking as the audience members die off. Fox is not adding new viewers fast enough to replace them. MSNBC has a much smaller audience but it's also much younger and thus attractive to the advertisers. MSNBC also has a particular following based on ideology. CNN is in a bind because the network doesn't want to be seen as partisan, but most regular news viewers really do prefer a slant with their news. And both ideological options are already taken. It's doesn't matter who CNN puts on air -- Morgan, Cooper, etc. The game is already lost.
|by Anonymous||reply 180||03/24/2013|
Wednesday, April 3
Piers Morgan pulls in a grand total of 383,000 viewers.
At 8:00 on the same day, Anderson gets 556,000 and Chris Hayes(MSNBC) gets 584,000.
Course, none of them come close to their Fox competitors.
|by Anonymous||reply 181||04/06/2013|
On Monday, the insufferable dick got a grand total of 274,000 viewers.
|by Anonymous||reply 183||04/11/2013|
CNN's Erin Burnett beat Lardball at 7:00
|by Anonymous||reply 184||04/11/2013|
Who is the retard at CNN that keeps this asshole on air? His ratings are terrible and he's unlikeable, so why does he have a show?
|by Anonymous||reply 185||04/11/2013|
It's absolutely ludicrous for the American public to have to listen to a foreigner's opinions, they should can his ass asap. I turn him off the second I see his damn face! Erin Burnett should have her nosed unplugged and be fired!
|by Anonymous||reply 186||04/24/2013|
OK can we talk? Why is Morgan STILL hosting that show? He sucks! His personality and looks are so unappealing, not to mention he's got that damn lisp. The ratings aren't great at all. Surely CNN can find someone better...then again they've recently given that idiot Anthony Bourdain a show so who knows.
|by Anonymous||reply 187||07/08/2013|
I don't get it either. Why don't they get rid of him and send him back to the UK?
|by Anonymous||reply 188||07/08/2013|
Send him back, along with the Osbournes.
|by Anonymous||reply 189||07/09/2013|
And Russell Brand.
|by Anonymous||reply 190||07/09/2013|
When someone comes off as less likable than Omarosa, that person has problems. Piers is a disgusting individual whose claim to fame was a British tabloid. HOW in the fuck did he end up taking over for the living corpse, Larry King? The show used to be respectable until King's last few years when the quality of guests dipped. Now having Morgan as host...I mean does ANYONE like him besides Trump?
|by Anonymous||reply 191||07/09/2013|
Send him back and why is he not getting shot over the phone hacking crap he did at his tabloid . He must know where some serious bodies are buried.
|by Anonymous||reply 192||07/09/2013|
R192 yes good point! I doubt that story has ever been covered on his show lol
|by Anonymous||reply 193||07/09/2013|
Piers Morgan is one hell of a creepy ass crumpet.
|by Anonymous||reply 194||07/16/2013|
Despite Larry King's faults, he had a variety of interesting guests. Piers seem to cover the same thing night after night, week after week - gun control and any trial in the news. Why would anyone watch if these topics are of no interest?
|by Anonymous||reply 195||07/16/2013|
r195 it's not just Piers Morgan. It's CNN's primetime line-up now. They really are taking crime dramas to the bank. This is the course that Jeff Zucker wants to take CNN and so far it has had some success. The viewers may not be informed about what is really important in the state and the world, but at least they've got all the details of Zimmerman. That's important to CNN viewers.
Up until tonight, I never saw Rachel Maddow do a segment on the trial. She only really covers issues that have national implication. Tonight she talked peripherally about the case but it really was about how the Justice Department can right the wrongs of state cases.
|by Anonymous||reply 196||07/16/2013|
I don't want him to be fired. He speaks out against guns and gun nuts and doesn't sympathize with Zimmerman. I think he's another CNN Obama hater, but I agree with him on other points.
|by Anonymous||reply 197||07/16/2013|
R197 there are plenty of FAR less annoying people who share Morgan's views who could replace him. He has no credibility or credentials to be the host of what used to be a prominent show.
|by Anonymous||reply 198||07/16/2013|
I suppose R198, but I still give him credit for speaking out against those two horrors.
|by Anonymous||reply 199||07/16/2013|
Why do we have this piece of shit from England over here trying to divide our country.
|by Anonymous||reply 200||07/19/2013|
It's not divided already?
|by Anonymous||reply 201||07/19/2013|
He must have a two year contract....When did he start ion the network.
|by Anonymous||reply 202||07/19/2013|
[quote]Despite Larry King's faults, he had a variety of interesting guests.
And Larry King used to have on a lot of old timers from Hollywood and would often do tribute shows when one of them passed on. I miss those.
|by Anonymous||reply 203||07/19/2013|
blame this on the fox news-loving Trump. He let Morgan win the Celebrity Apprentice and from there Morgan scored the gig of his career. I swear Trump did it to slowly chip away at cnn.
|by Anonymous||reply 204||07/19/2013|
ITA r192, I very seldom watch his show, so many wanted Larry King gone, well be careful what you wish for.

|by Anonymous||reply 210||08/27/2013|
it must be an open secret how bad his ratings are, a few weeks ago when Matthew Perry guest hosted he said something like to our millions of viewers...oh wait...this is the Piers Morgan Show...to our few thousand viewers.
|by Anonymous||reply 211||08/27/2013|
R211 - LOL. Perry would be an improvement.
|by Anonymous||reply 212||08/27/2013|
I can't cut and paste from where I am, but....
a Washington Times article says that Zucker is actively looking for a replacement for Piers Morgan.
Now the bad news.... he wants Katie Couric for that 9 pm slot--- but is also looking at other options.
|by Anonymous||reply 213||10/02/2013|
R213 I hope it's true. I'll take even Couric over that cunt Morgan. He is such a piece of shit.
|by Anonymous||reply 214||10/02/2013|
Just the sound of his voice makes me vomit.
|by Anonymous||reply 215||10/03/2013|
How did he go from "winning" Celebrity Apprentice to getting Larry King's old CNN job anyway? Shocking. Who does he know other than Trump? Did he blackmail some CNN head with revealing some damaging info? We know he has a tabloid mag background.
|by Anonymous||reply 216||10/03/2013|
You'd be surprised how far a British accent can get you, r216.
|by Anonymous||reply 217||10/07/2013|
I agree. Dump him. Why would you stoop to giving Tony the weenier a spot on the show.
|by Anonymous||reply 218||10/18/2013|
R216 He's one of Simon Cowell's best friends. No idea if that helped him get the CNN gig, but he obviously knows how to curry favour with influential people.
He's a slimey toerag though - would be quite happy if he disappeared from TV screens altogether, on both sides of the pond.
|by Anonymous||reply 219||10/18/2013|
Guess Piers' show is finally ending.
|by Anonymous||reply 220||02/24/2014|
Well, I guess they did, OP. But almost 3 years after you first suggested it.
This does show that DL pegged the problem with Piers Morgan from the beginning.
|by Anonymous||reply 221||02/24/2014|
End of March, final show...thank the Lord! It's about time someone pulled the plug on this loud mouth blowhard. We don't go to his country and bash their cultural policies...why should he be able to come over here and do it to us?
|by Anonymous||reply 222||02/24/2014|
