the South Park guys are both married

by Anonymousreply 19208/31/2013

To ladies?%0D %0D Yes, surprising.

by Anonymousreply 103/13/2011

Are you sure? I thought they were both gay? They are not the bearding type. They had me fooled. Why would two straight guys have so many gay themed stories? Makes no sense.

by Anonymousreply 203/13/2011

To each other ?%0D %0D I'm not surprised.

by Anonymousreply 303/13/2011

I thought one of them was turning into a woman.

by Anonymousreply 403/13/2011

They're both unabashed extreme rightwingers and homophobes. 'South Park' used the Eric Cartman character to re-brand "gay" to mean "lame" and now everyone (kids, adults) think it's cool to say "That's so gay" about stuff they don't like. They were peeved that they never got any public recognition for reclaiming the "gay" word from those appalling homosexuals so they wrote a 'South Park' episode re-telling the whole story, except they substituted the word "faggot" instead of "gay" ("it's an o.k. word, the dictionary defines "faggots" are a bunch of sticks"). And now they're on Broadway. Simply hilarious!

by Anonymousreply 503/13/2011

They are certainly not rightwingers. Do you watch the show?

by Anonymousreply 603/13/2011

Parker's married to an Asian lady OP.

First step towards gay.

by Anonymousreply 703/13/2011

Yes, R6, I watched it quite a bit until the show's conservative subtext started to really rankle with me. I was initially taken in by its apparent irreverence. The show is deeply conservative despite its streak of juvenile "shock" humour.

Oh, yeah, Big Gay Al is a positive homosexual character, right?

It's called reading between the lines. Try it.

by Anonymousreply 803/13/2011

And not to white women either! Parker's wife is Japanese and Stone's wife is black. Wonder how that goes over.

by Anonymousreply 903/13/2011

no to women...check IMDB (and I noticed they had wedding rings on during The Daily Show) are they mormon?

by Anonymousreply 1003/13/2011

Maybe you should try it R8. And I'm not just talking about "reading between the lines". I'm talking about in your face stories and blatant hate of Christians and conservatives alike. Many episodes with that theme. It's not their only target but it's their biggest. I love it too.

by Anonymousreply 1103/13/2011

Trey Parker was the hot one when the show started, but he completely lost his looks. He lost his hair and got fat. Matt Stone, on the other hand, has become hotter and hotter. He works out and cut off his horrible Jewfro. He's a gorgeous guy.

by Anonymousreply 1203/13/2011

R11, I'm the much derided Libertarian and Matt and Trey call themselves Libertarians but they liked W just fine, seriously there were more Al Gore than W jokes on South Park during Dubby's reign of terror. They also supported all of the wars. It was in a Playboy interview.

by Anonymousreply 1303/13/2011

Balderdash, R11.

by Anonymousreply 1403/13/2011

They shared a full on open mouth lots-of-tongue kiss in the movie "BaseketBall"... and afterwords continued the scene, without any hint of disgust or mouth-wiping or anything.%0D %0D I don't think homophobes would do that.%0D

by Anonymousreply 1503/13/2011

I agree with R12. I used to think Trey was cuter but I'm totally into Matt, who I find a totally hot Jew. %0D %0D Was it Trey or Matt that said years ago, "I'm not gay, except maybe some random Friday night. Then I'm a little gay."

by Anonymousreply 1603/13/2011

Sorry if this is a naive question, but do Matt and Trey actually come from Mormon backgrounds?

by Anonymousreply 1703/13/2011

They've also done A LOT more than that R17. If M&T are conservative they don't know the meaning of the word.

by Anonymousreply 1803/13/2011

"South Park"??? What, is this 1997? They're HARDCORE Right wingers. They did an entire episode on global warming being a hoax, bashing Al Gore to death. "Team America" was a Liberal-bashing piece of crap. They are the scum of the Earth. They appeared in Michael Moore's "Bowling For Columbine", and when they finally saw that Moore was a hardcore Leftist, they attacked him non-stop. They call themselves Libertarian, and we all know what that means. They are a bunch of hacks and has-beens.

by Anonymousreply 1903/13/2011

Thank you, R19.

by Anonymousreply 2003/13/2011

On the other hand, the episode with Tom Cruise and John Travolta "stuck in the closet" was hilarious.

by Anonymousreply 2103/13/2011

They have good and bad moments. Butters is by far their best character. The Facebook episode was brilliant. And I never thought they would surpass Mr. Hanky at Xmas until Woodland Critters showed up.

But then they get caught up in their serials, like the stupid Coon trilogy or Imaginationland, and weird polemics that no one gives a shit about.

by Anonymousreply 2203/13/2011

Trey Parker strikes me as really gay.

by Anonymousreply 2303/13/2011

They have their reprehensible bullshit... like the "man-bear-pig", and the one where atheists have shit coming out their mouths.%0D %0D But when they score, they score.%0D %0D

by Anonymousreply 2403/13/2011
They're both unabashed extreme rightwingers and homophobes.

Fuck, THIS old canard again? Reality check: they bash just about everyone, from women to Catholics to Muslims to the handicapped. That does not mean they "hate gays." As for this right-winger shtick, they certainly had some pro-Bush and pro-Iraqi war episodes circa 2003, but by around the end of Bush's reign they were actively depicting Dick Cheney as a minion of the devil. They have done nothing whatsoever disrespectful to the Obama administration, either.

R17, yes, they're originally Mormon. R22, Woodland Critter Christmas is one of my single favorite episodes of television of the entire 2000s.

by Anonymousreply 2503/13/2011
They're both unabashed extreme rightwingers and homophobes. After the first few seasons, that seemed obvious, but there are a LOT of people who will defend them as pro-gay liberals. Some people claim that white guys are insulted, too, so it's all fair. But notice that these white guys always have something else: They're liberal, Jewish, gay, atheist, conservationist, etc. That's what's being made fun of. For women, just being a successful woman is enough to get an entire episode devoted to how evil and deformed her vagina is. The gay characters are all portrayed as basically disgusting. The blacks are all defined by their blackness with almost no other characteristics.

by Anonymousreply 2603/13/2011

Exactly, R26.

The only "old canard" going around, R25, is that they are equal-opportunity satirists ("Hey, nothing is sacred to those guys.").

It just doesn't wash.

by Anonymousreply 2703/13/2011

r26, George Clooney and JFK, Jr. would beg to differ.

by Anonymousreply 2803/13/2011

The show is so much better when they stay away from their politics. I think every show liberal or conservative should stop trying to make a point and just be funny.

by Anonymousreply 2903/13/2011

the boys.... so cute!

by Anonymousreply 3003/13/2011

How was George Clooney insulted? I thought he was the voice of a dog in the movie.

by Anonymousreply 3103/13/2011

South Park skewers everyone and their hypocrisy. They made fun of GB in a show and make fun of democrats too. No one is safe. It's amazing how many people are fine with mockery until it hits home and then they whine. Get a sense of humor about yourselves, you will be much happier.

by Anonymousreply 3203/13/2011

Wow, you sound like you have such a great sense of humor about [italic]yourself,[/italic] r32.

You don't sound self-serious or self-important at all.

by Anonymousreply 3303/13/2011

I do R33. I laugh at myself all the time. Your problem is?

by Anonymousreply 3403/13/2011

Wow, Parker was gorgeous, but have you seen a pic of him lately? Yikes!

by Anonymousreply 3503/14/2011

[italic]South Park skewers everyone and their hypocrisy.[/italic] No, they do not. 90% = liberal bashing, 10% = conservative bashing. They're over anyway. That's pretty funny.

by Anonymousreply 3603/14/2011

I'm too lazy 2 link but...

how many closet cases do that?

by Anonymousreply 3703/14/2011

Team America was a huge cop-out. It left a bad taste in my mouth.

by Anonymousreply 3803/14/2011

The Terri Schiavo episode made fun of Christians and their beliefs. Certainly didn't seem pro-right wing to me

by Anonymousreply 3903/14/2011

any recent photos of Trey to prove how he's aged so horribly?

by Anonymousreply 4003/14/2011

Kirker, I've never been mean to you but you're full of shit. They are conservative. They were never Mormon.

by Anonymousreply 4103/14/2011

In their new Entertainment Weekly interview they claim neither the right nor the left.

by Anonymousreply 4203/14/2011

Always hated South Park and them, although they are hot.

by Anonymousreply 4303/14/2011

"but by around the end of Bush's reign they were actively depicting Dick Cheney as a minion of the devil."%0D %0D By the end of their reign? Oh what daring and brave men. Such courage.

by Anonymousreply 4403/14/2011

I could have sworn Michael Musto did an item about Matt Stone that said he was into hiring hustlers? Anyone know for sure?

by Anonymousreply 4503/14/2011

How is Matt Stone Mormon? I thought he was Jewish.

by Anonymousreply 4603/14/2011

People here talk about them as if they have the exact same background, but Stone is indeed Jewish and Parker was raised Mormon.

by Anonymousreply 4703/14/2011

They were both raised in non-religious households. But because they are right-wing they don't see what is truly different and evil and anti-individual about Mormonism.%0D

by Anonymousreply 4803/14/2011

by Anonymousreply 4903/14/2011

I'm resurrecting this thread just because it's so full of misinformation.

Neither guy is religious. At all.

Comedy Central extended their contract so they will, ironically, be richer than god.

Book of Mormon is a huge success.

Trey left his wife for a stripper.

Matt is married to a network exec.

by Anonymousreply 5006/14/2012

Trey was hot in his day. Look for the movie Orgazmo, which he starred in.

Trey is a nickname as he was the THRID person to have a name.

by Anonymousreply 5106/14/2012

I really though that they were just twisted sisters.

A black and an Asian woman ? Hummmm

by Anonymousreply 5206/14/2012

At the 2000 or 2001 Oscars, Joan Rivers said no one should stand down wind from them because they smelled. If you remember they showed up to the show with dresses on. The thin one had on a pink dress like Gywenth Paltrow's she wore to the Oscars a few years earlier and the doughy one wore a dress like JLo's famous plunging neckline Grammy's dress.

by Anonymousreply 5306/14/2012

WTF R35 - this was just a few days ago...Yeah, he's a beached whale!

by Anonymousreply 5406/14/2012

But they look like they're doing each other in the butt.

by Anonymousreply 5506/14/2012

by Anonymousreply 5606/14/2012

Young Trey

by Anonymousreply 5706/14/2012

best thing on tv.

by Anonymousreply 5806/14/2012

They were on acid when they wore those dresses to Oscars. It's pretty obvious when you look at the clips.

by Anonymousreply 5906/14/2012
Stone is indeed Jewish

You have to tell people that? That's like telling people that Ricky Martin is gay.

by Anonymousreply 6006/15/2012

Parker is not a Mormon. He comes from an old, monied Southern family who ended up in Colorado. His full name is Randolph Severn Parker III (hence "Trey").

Neither of those guys is a homophobe. Big Gay Al is as positive a character as you'll find on South Park, and Brian Boitano was portrayed as a superhero early in the series.

There's been only one time in the series when Parker and Stone dropped the satirical tone and had a character say something serious (and presumably representative of the writers' own beliefs), and that was when one of the boys said something mildly homophobic about the evil, closeted Mr. Garrison. Chef, who is as close to the voice of moral authority as you'll find in SP, replied with "No, no, no children, what's wrong with Mr. Garrison is NOT that he's gay..."

It was like Parker and Stone felt strongly enough about homophobia that they wanted to make an unambiguous point to any impressionable child who was watching.

I wish I could find that clip on youtube. It's from the episode where televisions come to life and start attacking people.

Anecdotally, a friend of a friend knew one of the writers on SP, an old friend of Parker's from Colorado, named David something or other. He came out to Parker and Stone sometime after moving to LA and said that they were nothing but supportive.

by Anonymousreply 6106/15/2012

They devoted an episode to skewering Mormonism.

by Anonymousreply 6206/15/2012

Can Parker give us answer to Cole Porter's question about Chinese girls?

by Anonymousreply 6306/15/2012
They shared a full on open mouth lots-of-tongue kiss in the movie "BaseketBall"... and afterwords continued the scene, without any hint of disgust or mouth-wiping or anything. I don't think homophobes would do that.

You realize that it is was for a laugh don't you and also a movie?. Even if they did wipe their mouth on the set, why would it still be in the film?
The thin one had on a pink dress like Gywenth Paltrow's she wore to the Oscars a few years earlier and the doughy one wore a dress like JLo's famous plunging neckline Grammy's dress.

And third nominee, Marc Shaiman was dressed as a pimp and all but guaranteed the five time nominee will never win an Oscar.

by Anonymousreply 6406/15/2012

The very last last time I will ask as I have heard some very convincing rumours about Trey being at least bi if not gay ,being forced to beard and having been in a relationship with a man for years now.

I've been a fan of the show since I was about 17 and I would just like to know the truth.

by Anonymousreply 6506/15/2012
a friend of a friend knew one of the writers on SP, an old friend of Parker's from Colorado, named David something or other

Gee, I'm convinced!

by Anonymousreply 6606/15/2012

I remember that David guy. He was an (aspiring?) writer used to write a boring online column and every second word was 'Trey' because there was nothing else interesting in his life.

by Anonymousreply 6706/15/2012

Anyone who thinks these guys are rightwing never watched "That's My Bush." I did think it was possible to make W look more stupid, but they did.

by Anonymousreply 6806/15/2012

I loved that show, R68. Hilarious.

by Anonymousreply 6906/15/2012

Two right wing shit heads.

That is all.

by Anonymousreply 7006/15/2012

Too funny.

by Anonymousreply 7106/15/2012

Trey is married to a stripper named "Boogie". Really.

by Anonymousreply 7206/15/2012

Stone is a self-loathing Jew though. I mean he HATES his Jewishness, if South Park is any indication.

by Anonymousreply 7306/15/2012

r73, why should Stone LOVE his Jewishness?

by Anonymousreply 7406/15/2012

I never thought they were funny, that Orgasmatron movie sucked, South Park is juvenile, frat boy scatological humour for the most part, and Book of Mormon looks unbearable.

by Anonymousreply 7506/15/2012

You're right about the other stuff, but Book Of Mormon is genius.

by Anonymousreply 7606/15/2012

I don't like them. They are full of themselves. They're also just mean and nasty.

by Anonymousreply 7706/15/2012

Trey Parker was obsessed with Les Miz for a long time. Saw it dozens of times, and did a tribute to it in "South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut" with "La Resistance"

by Anonymousreply 7806/15/2012

I saw Cannibal the Musical years ago. That was good.

by Anonymousreply 7906/15/2012

BASEketball was crap!

by Anonymousreply 8006/15/2012

They didn't write BASEketball.

by Anonymousreply 8106/15/2012

BASEketball was hilarious!

by Anonymousreply 8206/15/2012

For all my fandomish, I missed this story about Parker and a dead girl.

by Anonymousreply 8306/16/2012

r83 here. Looks like Parker will have to appear in court next month as a witness.

by Anonymousreply 8406/16/2012

Gay people can get married. Ask Trey.

by Anonymousreply 8506/16/2012

by Anonymousreply 8607/03/2012

bump a do

by Anonymousreply 8707/09/2012

Parker is a very talented, very sweet-natured man. He seems to have taken Matt's married-with-two-kids wonderlife hard and settled for a ready-made family with a very unchallenging mom/stripper. Hopefully it'll all work out well for all involved.

by Anonymousreply 8807/11/2012

indeed R88

by Anonymousreply 8907/13/2012

by Anonymousreply 9007/18/2012

I wonder why there was no sequel to "Team America"? It was funny, inventive and daring.

by Anonymousreply 9107/18/2012

the making of it nearly killed them apparently R91 read any of their interviews about it.

by Anonymousreply 9207/18/2012

I dont get this "South Park pushes a conservative agenda" thing. Conservatism on the show is embodied by the character Cartman, who is shown as being selfish, delusional, misogynistic, homophobic and incredibly stupid. Thats hardly what I consider pushing a conservative agenda (though to be fair, most conservatives are actually proud of having those attributes)

by Anonymousreply 9307/18/2012

If you don't get it then you're not paying attention R93.

I gave up watching this trash years ago, but at the time I stopped the conservative leanings ewre glaringly obvious.

It's not just Cartman, all the main characters end up pushing a conservative/libertarian agenda. The writers just call it "common sense."

Then look at the way different groups are treated. Liberals and left leaning celebs get trashed to hell and back again, while conservatives are rarely shown in a bad light, even Limbaugh and O'Riely.

As they themselves admit. They hate conservatives, but they really hate liberals. Truth is, only the the last half of that statement is true.

I doubt that has changed since I stopped watching.

by Anonymousreply 9407/18/2012

R94 If you gave up watching a long time ago then you missed the smack down they gave McCain supporters, the smack down they gave Mel Gibson, the smack down they gave Glenn Beck, the smack down they gave the Catholic church and the smack down they gave anti-gay and anti-immigration advocates in the hiiiiilarious Goo-back episode.

by Anonymousreply 9507/18/2012

That might be true R95, but from what I remember every single time they had something nasty to say it was ALWAYS about a leftist, and we're talking over the course of years.

Have they done anything with conservatives that comes close to matching the nastiness they threw at Gore, Rosie O'Donnell or Streisand, among many others?

by Anonymousreply 9607/18/2012

She's practically a Marxist, R96.

by Anonymousreply 9707/18/2012

Which, even if true, has what to do with anything R97?

by Anonymousreply 9807/18/2012

Here's Cannibal on Hulu. For a college film, it's great.

by Anonymousreply 9907/18/2012

by Anonymousreply 10007/18/2012

by Anonymousreply 10107/22/2012

"There is a middle ground, and most of us actually live in this middle ground."

by Anonymousreply 10207/25/2012

"...a bunch of gay miners."

by Anonymousreply 10308/03/2012

So who of SP boys pings? Cartman? Butters?

by Anonymousreply 10408/03/2012

From the Esquire article linked at R102 Parker and Stone are quoted (from a previous interview):
"I hate conservatives, but I really fucking hate liberals."

...which is exactly what we've always said about them.

Also, here's their solipsistic response to gay marriage being made legal in NY:
I heard about it and said, "Oh, we've already done a gay-marriage show. We don't need to worry about that."

Uh, ok - as long as you got a crappy show out of it EVERYTHING'S FINE.

by Anonymousreply 10508/03/2012

Matt's sister is gay. He's always been supportive of her relationships.

by Anonymousreply 10608/03/2012

Just like Dick Cheney was supportive of his daughter, R106. That didn't stop him from exploiting homophobia for his own political ends.

by Anonymousreply 10708/03/2012

They didn't make fun of George Bush on South Park.

by Anonymousreply 10808/03/2012

That's My Bush" was a whole series devoted to making fun of George Bush.

by Anonymousreply 10908/03/2012

I've been looking for an interview I found with them a long time ago, about That's My Bush, where they admitted they're both Republicans. I think it was on E! Entertainment's site but I can't find it. Anyway they said that the show was intended as a parody of sitcoms, and wasn't designed to make fun of Bush, who they both voted for.

Someone on the first page mentioned that South Park popularized the phrase "that's so gay", which is something I hadn't heard before. So I googled about it and there are lots of people who agree they did. I think it's appalling that any gays would support a show that popularized that homophobic phrase.

by Anonymousreply 11008/03/2012

I'm So Ronery. Bwahahaha! Wish it had been nominated for an Oscar.

by Anonymousreply 11108/04/2012

R25- they were Mormons? Where did you learn that? Link? I don't think they were ever Mormons. Bobby Lopez and TP/MS just thought Mormons were ridiculous and that's why they chose to make a musical about them. I believe the initial idea was Bobby's.

by Anonymousreply 11208/04/2012

R112, Trey and Matt had already delved in Mormonism before, when they wrote, directed, and starred in the low-budget 1997 film "Orgazmo," about a Mormon missionary who gets tricked into starring in porn films.

by Anonymousreply 11308/04/2012

I'm aware. They also had a SP episode about Mormonism. But I seemed to remember Bobby Lopez telling them that he wanted to do a musical about Mormons. It was something he had been thinking about when they asked him what he wanted to do after Avenue Q hit,

by Anonymousreply 11408/04/2012

by Anonymousreply 11508/06/2012

R110, I remember reading that they would develop a sitcom around whoever won the 2000 election, so it could have easily been about Al Gore.

by Anonymousreply 11608/06/2012

by Anonymousreply 11708/10/2012

by Anonymousreply 11808/13/2012

Thank you, R61. It's ridiculous how people continue to misrepresent them as right-wing or anti-gay when they're not.

I love the fact that they were on acid at the Oscars. And that one of them was wearing the infamous JLo Versace dress. They're so absurd that they're normal to me.

by Anonymousreply 11908/13/2012

Trey wore the infamous Versace dress J.Lo had worn to the Grammys the month before and Matt wore the pink number Gwyneth wore the year before when she won. Matt said he saw Gwyneth on the red carpet and she did not appear amused. Didn't even crack a smile but stared daggers at him.

by Anonymousreply 12008/13/2012

by Anonymousreply 12108/22/2012
I dont get this "South Park pushes a conservative agenda" thing. Conservatism on the show is embodied by the character Cartman, who is shown as being selfish, delusional, misogynistic, homophobic and incredibly stupid.

Isn't the whole point that Cartman is deeply closeted? Seems that way to me. He's not 'incredibly stupid' either, he's MENSA material but he's misguided and borderline sociopathic.

The Awesome-O episode says it all really, Cartman with his crush on Justin Timberlake and Butters holding the video tape. There's even a slash fandom out there for Butters and Cartman as fans have picked up on undertones.

The whole show lambasts everyone from right to left and all else inbetween and I love it. I saved me from a week of rainy holiday boredom recently. It's an absolute send up of everything, like Family Guy. But the irony being at least some of the characters exhibit closet tendencies.

by Anonymousreply 12208/22/2012

If you think SP is like FG, watch the South Park episode that slams Family Guy.

by Anonymousreply 12308/22/2012

FG is funnier than SP, but then so is most everything.

by Anonymousreply 12408/22/2012

Such a charming acceptance speech by Parker.

by Anonymousreply 12508/22/2012

I can't believe so many of you guys watch the show and completely miss it. It's a double-double-triple back-atcha. Seems to be working, however, based on all these posts. Matt married though? sigh. The most perfect white ass on the planet, going to waste.

by Anonymousreply 12608/23/2012
If you think SP is like FG, watch the South Park episode that slams Family Guy.

I dunno if you understood me. I was just comparing the fact both shows rip the assholes out of everything from right to left of the spectrum.

Family Guy always comes in for 'it's anti this and that' debates too.

by Anonymousreply 12708/23/2012

bump and any idea what this tattoo business is all about?

by Anonymousreply 12809/02/2012

They are both vile libertarians, and ultimately reactionary in their 'irreverence'. Even worse, their show is less funny than "Family Guy", "American Dad", and virtually every single new-ish show on Comedy Central.

Parker, in both appearance and demeanor, reminds me of a friend of mine who was outwardly straight, but surprised me one morning with a rimjob. Not much was said after that, but it happened again later that week. Now he's married to a woman, I think.

by Anonymousreply 12909/03/2012

Back to them being married; of course they're married. They have more money than god and are ridiculously successful. There are probably a million chicks who would marry into that...including a stripper named "Boogie" apparently.

by Anonymousreply 13009/03/2012

Parker has always struck me as decidedly bisexual. Maybe that's where the desire to play up the conservative side of the satire on that show stems alleviates the guilt.

by Anonymousreply 13109/03/2012

by Anonymousreply 13209/03/2012

All I know is that they both dropped a load of money at my sister's GLBT charity benefit in Colorado when they were in Denver last month and Trey funds an animal sanctuary that his sister runs. If they are Libertarians, they're generous Libertarians.

by Anonymousreply 13309/03/2012

by Anonymousreply 13409/03/2012

by Anonymousreply 13509/05/2012

Libertarians are the worst of the worst. No reason for them to live as far as I'm concerned.

by Anonymousreply 13609/05/2012

r136, I'm glad you aren't in charge of anything important.

by Anonymousreply 13709/05/2012

by Anonymousreply 13809/08/2012

by Anonymousreply 13909/08/2012

Trey and Matt were on Kimmel this week. Trey gives off the same gay/straight vibe as Clooney. It's interesting they were once close friends. It's also interesting that each married a very proper woman, divorced her within three years, and went straight to dating a parade of skanks.

by Anonymousreply 14009/08/2012

matts still married R140

by Anonymousreply 14109/08/2012

r141, I see that what I wrote can easily be misinterpreted. I meant Trey and Clooney with regard to the marriage, divorce, and skanks.

by Anonymousreply 14209/08/2012

ohh i see R141

by Anonymousreply 14309/09/2012

First of all there are FOUR South Park guys, five really because you can't leave Butters out

by Anonymousreply 14409/09/2012

They were pro war in 2003. What kind of satirist is pro war? That's more like court jester.

Parker and Stone bash everyone- Jews, Christians, hippies, Japanese, gays, a lot of Steisand-hatred, Phil Collins music-hate, exploitive politicians like the town mayor.

Also metrosexuals, like that episode about how lame it was to push hair "product" on straight men. Straight guys may want to be fit but they just aren't that fussy about their looks overall. They don't care that much. You could take it as a kick in the head but they do that to every group. To some extent it's their own adult preferences, mixed with what they were like when they were 8 years old.

They reflect a lot of straight men's pov and taste that I know. I don't think they're haters, just different, & hard to categorize because they don't carry water for anyone- I doubt they're gay.

by Anonymousreply 14709/09/2012

Matt is straight.

FWIW I passed Matt and his wife walking down a quiet anonymous street in Chelsea with their kid in a stroller. Hardly the behavior of some actor bearding.

No one recognized him but me.

Forgive me if I already posted this here or on an earlier thread. It was a couple of months ago.

by Anonymousreply 14809/09/2012

R19 I certainly don't agree with everything they say (Global warming) but hard core right wingers wouldn't take aim at adult hypocrisy toward the poor in Starvin' Marvin and the way Kenny is treated. They certainly wouldn't bash Christians arguing about who gets into heaven or care about Robert Smith of The Cure. They wouldn't even listen to that music.

by Anonymousreply 14909/09/2012

Trey, apparently, is a big Robert Smith fan and Smith 'sent word' after a concert that he wanted to meet him. Parker was really excited and chatted him up, finally saying something like, "So, you watch South Park?" Smith said, "Oh, South Park, yes, I have seen it." Parker, confused, looked over at another guy in the room and was told that Smith has watched Orgazmo about 100 times.

by Anonymousreply 15009/09/2012

R150 Great story. I'd believe it. SP is an "alternative' show and The Cure is "alternative" music.

I wanted to add I think they bashed Streisand not because she's a democrat but because she's nasty. I have heard that from people who have worked with her. I guess it doesn't help that they're not into her genre of music.

by Anonymousreply 15109/09/2012

Wrong R151, they bashed her because she's a highly visible liberal.

by Anonymousreply 15209/09/2012

In that case I'll wait for Mitt & Mel Gibson to sing the praises of "Bloody Mary".

by Anonymousreply 15309/09/2012

by Anonymousreply 15409/10/2012

Again, Matt and Trey trash the idiots they see before them. They produce South Park in LA. LA is filled with idiots ... the vast majority of whom are Hollywood liberals. If they worked in the Bible Belt, they'd have plenty of conservative fodder for comedy.

Streisand is an easy target because she is just so arrogant and stupid. My sister worked on the advance team for the fundraiser Clooney did for Obama this year. The running joke was 'how can we throw a high-profile Dem. event w/o having Babs get wind of it.'

by Anonymousreply 15509/10/2012

by Anonymousreply 15609/10/2012

You're either shills or nincompoops for buying into their bullshit.

by Anonymousreply 15709/10/2012

R155, there are hundreds of even more arrogant and stupid conservatives that they could have targeted, but they never touched them whole time I watched the show. There sure was a constant stream of liberals being bashed though.

by Anonymousreply 15809/10/2012

R158 You clearly have not watched the show that much, otherwise you would know they have ridiculed a number of conservatives over the years.

by Anonymousreply 15909/10/2012

Like I've said here several times. I quit watching the show years ago when it became obvious that it was a right-wing hit squad aimed at the left. But, I watched it faithfully for years, and not once did they do anything remotely as bad to conservatives as the shit they dumped on liberals constantly.

by Anonymousreply 16009/10/2012

R160 I dont watch it all that much, but off the top of my head I can recall shows where they tore into Mel Gibson, the Pope, Glenn Beck, Sara Palin, John McCain supporters, anti-immigration movement, opponents of gay marriage, the Boy Scouts (in particular, their anti-gay stance)

It happens, but if you dont watch the show you will never know about it.

by Anonymousreply 16109/10/2012

I'll give you the Catholic stuff, I think I mentioned that up thread, and Gibson, well he's an extremely low-hanging fruit. But what I've seen of their "parody" of Beck, O'Riely and the other Republicans and Fox goons has been extremely mild. It's was certainly nothing like turning Rosie into an horribly obese gelatinous monster or Streisand into a giant killer Godzillabot, or showing Angelina Jolie scratching the crabs in her cooch hair.

by Anonymousreply 16209/10/2012

162 The take away I got from the Gibson episode wasnt so much a criticism of him but how gullible his supporters are, to the point that they let themselves get caught up in a Nazi march. It is true that when they make fun of a liberal personality it is more likely to be digs on their personality or appearances. When they target a conservative, they aim more for their politics. But it is also done with metaphors which appear to go right over most conservative's heads. Look at their Team America. Many conservatives love that film and feel it has a conservative message, all the while missing how it really is doing the opposite.

by Anonymousreply 16309/10/2012

any chance somebody would get back to discussing what the thread is about as in they're married to women and this is surprising?

Well it is in Trey's case if you get my drift.

by Anonymousreply 16409/10/2012

It has gotten off-topic. But like I said they are like a lot of straight guys I know right down to their adolescent, absurd sense of humor like the episode where people literally start shitting out of their mouths & The Terrence and Phillip show. So it's not hard for everyone to believe they're straight.

by Anonymousreply 16509/10/2012

r164, I think Trey is into anything and/or anyone that makes him feel good. There's a South Park episode post the Tiger Woods meltdown that basically says, if a guy is rich, he's going to stick it anywhere he can (even if he has a beautiful wife at home). Matt seems a little happier with the 'family man' - wife and 2 kids -- role.

by Anonymousreply 16609/10/2012

you could be right R166 but I've heard a rumour that he's been living with a man for a long long time who he supposedly has an open relationship with. And they're both bi too aswell.

by Anonymousreply 16709/11/2012

More DL wishful thinking.

They are typical straight frat boys who never grew up. And yes, straight guys joke about gay shit to mostly diminish their fear of it.

True male bisexuality is extremely rare FYI.

So no, they are never going to fuck you. Move on!

by Anonymousreply 16809/11/2012

r167, Parker is living with the stripper, Boogie, from the Silver Reign.

by Anonymousreply 18111/07/2012

Trey and Matt are receiving an award tomorrow night. So we'll see if Trey has cleaned up (and dumped his addict GF).

by Anonymousreply 19108/31/2013

r2 straight men--especially the homophobes are more obsessed about gay sex than gays themeselves.
