Baby, I Was Born This Way!

Lady Gaga's new single, is it the new Gay Anthem?

by Anonymousreply 2604/17/2013

No, OP. No it isn't.

by Anonymousreply 102/13/2011

The club I was at last night played this song three times. Each time the crowd went wild and the dance floor was packed.

by Anonymousreply 202/13/2011

It was the gay anthem 22 yrs ago when it was called EXPRESS YOURSELF

by Anonymousreply 302/13/2011

Peer pressure, r2. It's like Black Swan - most people said they loved it, because it was hip. Secretly, people are like "Meh..."

by Anonymousreply 402/13/2011

The young gays love GaGa. They will stay with her regardless of where her career goes. We've seen it before: Cher, Madge, Mariah, Whitney. They will follow her to the ends of the earth.

by Anonymousreply 502/13/2011

ENOUGH.

by Anonymousreply 602/13/2011

The young gays don't love Gaga.

by Anonymousreply 702/13/2011

It doesn't matter if you love him, Or capital H-I-M Just put your paws up 'cause you were born this way, baby

[Verse 1] My mama told me when I was young We are all born superstars

She rolled my hair and put my lipstick on In the glass of her boudoir

"there's nothin wrong with lovin who you are" She said, "'cause he made you perfect, babe"

"so hold your head up girl and you'll go far, Listen to me when I say"

[Chorus] I'm beautiful in my way 'cause god makes no mistakes I'm on the right track baby I was born this way

Don't hide yourself in regret Just love yourself and you're set I'm on the right track baby I was born this way

[Post-chorus] Ooo there ain't no other way Baby I was born this way Baby I was born this way Ooo there ain't no other way Baby I was born- I'm on the right track baby I was born this way

Don't be a drag - just be a queen Don't be a drag - just be a queen Don't be a drag - just be a queen Don't be!

[Verse 2] Give yourself prudence And love your friends Subway kid, rejoice your truth

In the religion of the insecure I must be myself, respect my youth

A different lover is not a sin Believe capital h-i-m (hey hey hey) I love my life I love this record and Mi amore vole fe yah (love needs faith)

by Anonymousreply 802/13/2011

I preferred this song when it was called Cherry Lips and I Am Beautiful

by Anonymousreply 902/13/2011

The song is shit

by Anonymousreply 1002/13/2011

[quote]In the religion of the insecure I must be myself, respect my youth%0D %0D Suddenly it's clear why the oldsters are so riled up about this song.%0D %0D

by Anonymousreply 1102/13/2011

Love it!

by Anonymousreply 1202/13/2011

I love being pandered to!

by Anonymousreply 1302/13/2011

If Madonna doesn't get a co-writing credit she should sue. The song is EXPRESS YOURSELF.

by Anonymousreply 1402/13/2011

Who do you think you Are? by the Spice Girls is better than this tripe. That should tell you something!

by Anonymousreply 1502/13/2011

Eggs! Eggs!

by Anonymousreply 1602/13/2011

Does anyone else think she also was "influenced" a tad too much by Sylvester's "Born To Be Alive"?

by Anonymousreply 1702/14/2011

Born To Be Alive was Patrick Hernandez--and don't you forget it!

by Anonymousreply 1802/14/2011

Maybe when Will Smith acted like an idiot in his 20s it was cute, but enough is enough. He needs to grow the fuck up!

by Anonymousreply 1902/14/2011

When I say born this way..I don't mean gay...I mean just better than you. Genetically, genealogically, physically...I could go on and on. Your parents thought I was "strange" but that is a compliment. Peasants think that way of the upper classes. It's gotta kill you to come by here after all of the years and know I have everything you'll never have...because, Baby, I was born this way and it is only going to get worse for you. Bwah!

by Anonymousreply 2004/17/2013

Wow, when two year old failed Lady Gaga threads are being bumped up, you know DL has died.

by Anonymousreply 2104/17/2013

What an odd conclusion to draw from a thread being bumped. Gurl, you a danger to yourself.

by Anonymousreply 2204/17/2013

Whose drunk Uncle is this?

by Anonymousreply 2304/17/2013

[quote]She rolled my hair and put my lipstick on In the glass of her boudoir

WTF does that even mean? I know boudoir is bedroom in French, but is glass supposed to be mirror? But why would she be in the mirror? Or is it just her fancy but nonsensical way of saying her mom used to do her hair and put makeup on her, which would be reflected off the mirror in her bedroom? If so, it's a stupid lyrics. It's trying too hard.

by Anonymousreply 2404/17/2013

No, it's about how that felt. Art and pop is never literal. It is not science. Have a look at painting- do you see 'photographic realism'? No. Painting conveys essence and how something felt. Even Ansel Adams- do you think what he photographed was actually high exposure black and white, or perhaps more likely that he was communicating a particular experience? And no, I do not consider Gaga on par, but your logic is basic and dumb. As she said in the intro to one of her videos- "it's not that I have been dishonest, it's just that I loathe reality".

by Anonymousreply 2504/17/2013

Why does anyone care if this song sounds anything like Express Yourself? There was a thread posted a while back that included a demo of Nothing Fails which proved Madonna's songwriting credits are in name only. She's the biggest pop fake on the planet! Not the Lady Gaga is any more authentic.
