Op and R1 "You're fired!" in an authoritative voice.

OP does this question mean you don't have a contract, or that you didn't read it?

The contract is ambiguous.

It depends on the terms of the contract. If they have violated the terms, then it's easy. If they haven't, then you may have to pay a penalty to terminate the contract.

What sort of contractor?

replies 6Dec 7, 2017 3:55 PM +00:00

More importantly, how do you contract a fire?

R6, home construction. He is dragging it out the work, and it doesn’t have an end date.

The contract is ambiguous.

So in other words you didn't read the contract.

Don’t be a dick, R9.

I think I have multiple grounds for firing him now. He pretends to be working on my project but rarely shows up.

Contractors are the worst! I'm putting off a renovation just because I dread having to deal with them.

Did he give you a timeline OP?

--Anonymous

No, R12. But it’s been twice as long as reasonable.

A contractor? Well you still have to pay the prostitute or contractor as you call him, or his pimp will beat you up.

All contractors are like that. They do the bulk of the work and get most of the payment and then start work on other jobs and drag out the last bit of your project in hopes that you’ll just give up and fuck off. It usually takes as long or longer to get the last 10% of work finished as it did for the first 90%.

Stop paying him if you haven’t already and look for someone else to finish. If he has received the full payment just keep hounding him to finish.

Never pay in full upfront.
