Dumb move for any network to go into business with Baldwin. It's only a matter of time before he gets felony charges.

I'd rather listen to Baldwin than that blathering boffhead Christiane Amanpour who is supposedly going to be replacing sex pest Charlie Rose on CBS.

For sure Baldwin has his "moments", r2. But he's smart, engaging, unafraid to express his views. I'd watch him.

His last show on MSNBC...or was it CNN....was horrible.

I think it's a good idea. He may finally have found his niche.

I enjoyed his short-lived MSNBC talk show. For some reason, they set it up for failure by airing it on Friday nights.

Alec is like David Letterman: when they like and respect the guest, the conversation is fantastic but when they don’t know or like the guest, the conversation is strained and awkward.

My hope is that he will be in late-night (perhaps right after Kimmel) where he can be a little edgier. I just can't see him with a daytime talk show.

The MSNBC show got dumped because he called a Pap a gay slur.

It was actually not a bad show. He's interesting when he gets to talk about old films. I remember him having Gary Lockwood from 2001 on and he was really interesting.

Baldwin's temper gets him in trouble. I don't think he's a homophobe (he was one of the few major stars to agree to a role in Longtime Companion---it got delayed so long that he ended up not paying able to do it because of other commitments----but the producers spoke highly of him in a retrospective I was reading.) He just gets mad and blows his top.

I'd love a smart show. Could they get someone else, though? It always has to be some "celebrity" which is dumbing things down.

He is like Rosie, always ready to explode. It might even be worse with him. He sounds very fake when he is trying to be "nice."

Alec Baldwin is one of the best conversationalists in the business. He is quite smart and well informed on many subjects, much like Letterman. At the right time of night, he could be fabulous. I would like to see him do something like what Bill Maher accomplished with the original "Politically Incorrect" on ABC. That show was terrific and I miss it.

Alec is mad at John Oliver for asking Dustin Hoffman about sex pest accusations. So does that mean that Alec will be easy on his friends and powerful people when he interviews them on his new show?

--Anonymous
replies 36Dec 6, 2017 3:19 PM +00:00

He doesn’t listen to guests ...doesn’t let them talk/ has no interest in what they have to say. That whole show he had was a wreck...his incurious raging ego ruined it. He was always talking over people or interrupting them. This will tank for the same reasons.

He really is great on Here's The Thing. I was surprised when I first discovered it. Of course, when you're hand-picking guests and all the guests are excited to be on, you have a leg up to start. But, still, he's really good at conversing with his guests - asking them good questions, but also letting the conversation flow. And, it's a rare setting where the interviewer can interrupt the interview/conversation with anecdotes from his own experiences.
