Faye Dunaway flips out over $3K salon bill

Faye Dunaway caused a big drama at celebrity favorite Marie Robinson Salon in Manhattan after racking up a $3,000 bill for extensions to her tousled locks — complaining about the price and storming off in a huff.

“She claimed she didn’t know it was that expensive and then said, ‘I’m not paying that. I can’t believe how expensive this is. I’m only paying half!’” a source exclusively told Page Six.

Finally, “they took her half, but staff explained, ‘You’re going to have to pay the rest.’ And Faye stormed out screeching, ‘This is ridiculous!’ Everyone in the salon was aghast … Her hair looked great — so she should pay!”

A source close to Dunaway told us that the Hollywood legend had gotten the extensions on a previous visit to the salon, and that this appointment was made for touch-ups. But instead of charging just for touch-ups, they charged her the full fee again.

When we reached out to Dunaway about the hair-raising incident, the star said, “I’d prefer you not run that. I’ve now paid the whole thing — but I will not be going back there because it is not the price they said it would be. So, I don’t know what to say to you except I didn’t throw a fit. I was just very alarmed at the amount they were charging me for the very small amount of hair work that they did.” She continued of the coiffure calamity, “I am a normal human being and don’t expect special favors, but I was shocked to be charged the same [fee] I had previously paid to get what was now a hair correction. I felt it was extravagant and inappropriate.”

A receptionist at the salon told us, “There’s no one here who can comment on that right now,” and salon staff didn’t return emails. Fusion hair extensions, made from real hair, usually cost well over $2,000 in NYC salons.

Dunaway was famously kicked out of her NYC rent-stabilized apartment, where she paid just over $1,000 a month, in 2011 after the landlord sued to evict her. She also made headlines earlier this year at the Oscars as a presenter with Warren Beatty when she announced the wrong Best Picture winner.

She's old enough to know that you always get a quote for anything that could turn out to be expensive.

but I will not be going back there because it is not the price they said it would be.

If this is so, she was right not to have paid it and should have stuck to her guns.

It has to be your primary residence, R19, and she was living in LA at the time.

You also can't earn more than a certain amount — I think it's $250k. If your landlord finds out, he can raise the rent to whatever he wants.

Agree that Faye should have gone to Chinatown, the Fulton Mall in Brooklyn, or Astoria for her extensions.

A fraction of the price, and she could have had a swell lunch afterwards.

Why is she even bothering to get extensions? Does she think somebody out there is going to hire a woman in her late '70s to play the glamorous young ingenue? She should just accept her age and the fact that her time as a sexy young thing has been over since the '70s.

R19 What happened with this bit? I thought rent-stabilized apartments were forever for the life of the tenant?

It has to be your primary residence, meaning you live their 51% of the year within any two year period. Landlords put security cameras in hallways and stairwells now, to monitor how often tenants come and go. It's allowed, as they can claim the cameras are there as a security measure.

If you want a place in NYC for just occassional use, buy or stay in a hotel. Rental housing availability is very slight, considering the number of people who want to live there. If you're not going to live there, you can't rent a place at a fixed price in perpetuity if the landlord would prefer another tenant who will pay more.

I mean, it's hard enough to be a REGULAR person losing your looks to time...what must it be like if you were on magazine covers for decades, and now the camera won't stop moving closer and closer???

The Disappearance Of Aimee 1976. Bette Davis, Faye Dunaway, James Woods In 1926, evangelist Aimee Semple McPherson (Faye Dunaway) disappears from a California beach without a trace, provoking prayer vigils, a month-long manhunt and speculation about her possible death, which her mother (Bette Davis) is quick to capitalize on. One month later, Aimee reappears in Arizona, claiming to have been kidnapped and held in Mexico for ransom. Holes begin to appear in Aimee's story, however, as it comes to light that she's been covering up an affair with a married man.

Oh puh LEEZE.

She either knew how much it was and planned on grifting them out of part of it by diva-ing it up, or she didn't bother to ask and was shocked when she found out.

They did not quote her $1500 and then charge her $3000. Didn't happen.
