All Hail the New Queen of Pop: Cardi B

Her song "Bodak Yellow" just knocked TSwift out of the Billboard top spot.

She used to be a stripper but now she making money moves!

Is she the new Beyoncé? Or will she be forgotten in a few weeks?

The female MC’s hit single “Bodak Yellow” has claimed the No. 1 spot from “Look What You Made Me Do.” And the two songs—and artists—couldn’t be any more different.

Here's the chorus (do hip hop songs have a chorus?) that kids are singing on the playground:

Said little bitch, you can't fuck with me If you wanted to

These expensive, these is red

Said little bitch, you can't fuck with me If you wanted to

These expensive, these is red bottoms

These is bloody shoes

Hit the store, I can get 'em both, I don't wanna choose

And I'm quick, cut a nigga hustle

Don't get comfortable

Look, I don't dance now, I make money moves

Say I don't gotta dance, I make money move

If I see you and I don't speak

That means I don't fuck with you

I'm a boss, you a worker bitch

I make bloody moves, These is bloody shoes....

Said to mention Cardi B. For a special discount or secret bonus gift with purchase. Something like that.

It was the second time I'd heard of Cardi B - my SIL produces reality shows geared toward this demographic and she mentioned her.

The Brits find her ignorance and trashy ways amusing.

The Bronx rapper went from Instagram skits to dislodging Taylor Swift from the top of the US charts with one of 2017’s best tracks. But after two Grammy nominations, she’s feeling the pressure of fame

OMG. Is there a chorus? I gave up after 2 min. Been reading a bit about her and been meaning to listen to this - what a disappointment. I don’t even like Beyoncé but she’s no Beyoncé. Beyoncé has always paid for her own YSL! This foul mouthed fat little dwarf will be gone and forgotten by the end of next year. Charmless. More like Cardi Zzz.

R76, are you fucking kidding?! “One that doesn’t criticise other women for their sexuality”?! The whole song is about how every other woman who isn’t Cardi B is a fucking whore but none of them are as a big of a fucking whore as she is between the sheets - you may have heard - and she’s such a fucking whore that she fucks for her YSL. What an empowering message for women of all ages!

I like Rihanna a lot, I think she is authentic and naturally cool, she doesn't have to project this contrived sense of attitude like Cardi B or Nicki Minaj, it just comes naturally to Rihanna. I think most people find Rih likeable, even when she makes outrageous vids showing nude women being held hostage!

She will be forgotten just like that Australia Iggy whatsherface. Butterface with a boot-shaped nose to boot.

Nope, not over yet! At least not according to Datalounge fave, Timothee Chalamet!

All the gays love Timothée!

Timothée loves Cardi B!

Ergo, all the gays love Cardi B!!

The star of the acclaimed drama said the "Bodak Yellow" rapper is one of his New York inspirations.

question to the AAs of Data Lounge:

There was a mini-scandal caused by a video of the Victoria's Secret supermodel angels singing along to Bodak Yellow. The sang all the lyrics including one line with the word nigga in it.

Is it fair to write a song and pray that it gets to #1(which means crossing over) but setting guidelines as to how it must be sung by those buying/playing the music? I get the whole, "we can say it and you can't thing" but when you put it in a song, aren't you taking that to another level? I mean, it's really no longer an inside word of affection between like minded people of color is it?

As Chris Rock might say, “Cardi B need a hit like a crackhead need a hit!”

All that success and attention for Bodak Yellow and still no follow up song to keep the kids excited! Yikes, bad business move, girl. Certainly not a “money move.”
