HOLY FUCK they made David Corenswet look like Billy Eichner in Superman

How do you fuck up David Corenswet’s bone structure like this?

by Anonymousreply 73May 8, 2024 3:55 PM

I like the costume 👍

Familiar but modern.

Well done! 👏

by Anonymousreply 1May 6, 2024 4:20 PM

He put on too much mass and it ruined the jawline

Holy fuck they fucked this up

Superman doesn’t technically have to big a big hulking guy

You need the jawline more than you need the muscles

Fantastic look for Superman.

Suddenly very interested.

by Anonymousreply 3May 6, 2024 4:26 PM

Looks kinda old in the eye area. Hands also look like he's pushing seventy.

by Anonymousreply 4May 6, 2024 4:33 PM

They shouldn’t have dyed his hair either. He has dirty blond hair and it suits his face better.

by Anonymousreply 5May 6, 2024 4:36 PM

New 52-style costume. I didn’t think it would translate this well to live action. But it does.

by Anonymousreply 6May 6, 2024 4:36 PM

Weren't people complaining about scary glowing things in the sky being the go-to comic book movie villains? Looks so generic.

by Anonymousreply 7May 6, 2024 4:39 PM

Holy fuck he looks like he's in late forties to early fifties.

by Anonymousreply 8May 6, 2024 4:39 PM

He does look oddly doughy. I guess they’re not doing to fake muscle under-suit thing anymore.

Oh well, Corenswet is still a beautiful man. I’m fairly certain this film will still provide us with some quality wank material.

by Anonymousreply 9May 6, 2024 4:47 PM

They tried to make him look Cavillesque.

by Anonymousreply 10May 6, 2024 4:50 PM

Wooden actor but infinitely better looking than rodent boy.

by Anonymousreply 11May 6, 2024 4:53 PM

Most people in this thread need to get themselves to a LensCrafters pronto, but you don’t have any time to waste.

by Anonymousreply 13May 6, 2024 5:23 PM

He hasn't been the same since he had to go down on Patti LuPone.

Could you please share what city has 50-year-olds who look like this? Because I’m booking a U-Haul immediately.

by Anonymousreply 16May 6, 2024 5:28 PM

Is this DC’s official account? Because if this is what they’re going with, they’re already fucked.

And then you lost me.

by Anonymousreply 18May 6, 2024 5:32 PM

At least the glowing monstrosity in the sky is in pink/teal this time instead of in orange/teal. Progress!

by Anonymousreply 19May 6, 2024 5:33 PM

[quote]You need the jawline more than you need the muscles

As weird as this take might sound, it's correct.

It's funny. DLer often observes stuff like this that others don't - like other folks will look at something and say something's not right, but have no idea what it is where DLers have pinpoint accuracy.

by Anonymousreply 20May 6, 2024 5:36 PM

His costume looks like Cavill's. I don't see any difference.

Somebody once posted Cavill's Superman costume test photos with his bare ass hanging out. I wish I'd saved those pics.

by Anonymousreply 21May 6, 2024 5:53 PM

R21, here are some. The OP of the DL thread with pics was red tagged, so no links in that thread.

Let me know whether you want more.

by Anonymousreply 22May 6, 2024 6:05 PM

Thanks r22. Yes, more!

I still think Cavill should've been given one more shot at playing Superman. Warner Bros. were such assholes to him.

by Anonymousreply 23May 6, 2024 6:09 PM

[quote] Warner Bros. were such assholes to him.

Warners were cunts to everyone. Everyone!

by Anonymousreply 24May 6, 2024 6:16 PM

It has less to do with Cavill himself than with wanting to erase the memory of the Zach Snyder years and especially the travesty of "Batman v. Superman." That's just the danger you incur when you work on a new iteration of a comics franchise these days--if the studio doesn't like the director and get rid of him, they're likely to get rid of you too.

by Anonymousreply 25May 6, 2024 6:17 PM

Another film no one asked for.

by Anonymousreply 26May 6, 2024 6:17 PM

[quote] It's funny. DLer often observes stuff like this that others don't

Because they have no life other than to mindlessly stare at photos of celebrities all day while the world keeps marching past them.

Oh, that and they love to hate everything.

by Anonymousreply 27May 6, 2024 6:20 PM

Here is the problem

David Corenswet is striking because he has an extremely long neck and relatively narrow shoulders. But his face does veer toward roundness. He needs to maintain a very low weight to bring the cheekbones out. He needed to be somewhat slim for this to work. But they expected him to be heavily muscular because he’s following a heavily muscular Cavill. This was entirely unnecessary. Corenswet needs to look supernatural. He does not need to be heavily muscled because Superman gets his power from the sun. The goal should be to make him look angelic, which was what Ryan Murphy did on his two shows.

by Anonymousreply 28May 6, 2024 6:28 PM

The amount of mass he had on The Politician was fine. He should not have gotten any bigger than this. Because then his face begins to have a doughy look and he looks like a boxer.

R28 R29 - same person - wants but will never be a creative director.

Anywhere.

by Anonymousreply 30May 6, 2024 6:34 PM

r27 & R30 = David Corenswet, royally pissed off

by Anonymousreply 31May 6, 2024 6:35 PM

R30 perhaps you can explain why you like the new look. Tell me its positive attributes.

by Anonymousreply 32May 6, 2024 6:36 PM

The Daily Mail commentators claim that Cavill is against or has spoken out against DEI and that’s why Warner Brothers is trying to cancel him. I haven’t seen any evidence of that.

by Anonymousreply 33May 6, 2024 6:37 PM

Oh my r30 you certainly are the little cheerleader on this thread aren’t you?

by Anonymousreply 34May 6, 2024 6:38 PM

Is Cavill anti-LGBT?

by Anonymousreply 35May 6, 2024 6:39 PM

Why would Cavill speak out against DEI, he qualifies for it now that they count neurodivergence.

by Anonymousreply 36May 6, 2024 6:40 PM

This whole time, I thought that David Corenswet was Tom Payne from Prodigal Son, and was amazed he was cast as Superman, because from memory he was one skinny dude.

by Anonymousreply 37May 6, 2024 6:42 PM

Has the shooting started yet, is it too late for him to get a new jaw installed? And when's the actress playing the love interest going to be announced?

by Anonymousreply 38May 6, 2024 6:42 PM

A new photo shows I am correct

They bulked him up too much and made his face doughy

He doesn’t even look like himself anymore

by Anonymousreply 39May 6, 2024 6:54 PM

Rachel Brosnanan (however the fuck you spell it) is Lois Lane.

by Anonymousreply 40May 6, 2024 6:54 PM

r40 Oh yes, thank you, I recall that thread now and being disappointed when that news broke. Uninspired choice.

by Anonymousreply 41May 6, 2024 6:56 PM

Speaking of AI fuckery, I just put a chocolate bar wrapping up on the screen to check those window panels because I had a funny feeling about them and... they don't align? Not at the top, the bottom, or at the sides. Furthermore, the pink reflection is off on the lower two panels.

And before you say something, I know how perspective works, but that shouldn't be an issue here.

by Anonymousreply 42May 6, 2024 6:57 PM

See why would you cast David Corenswet if you did not want him to be beautiful

He looked like a Bronzino; now he looks like a thumb

[quote]He'll, he's not even George Reeve.

How did he get BOTH names wrong.

by Anonymousreply 53May 6, 2024 9:56 PM

Poor Superman.

They just can't get anything right on film since the Reeve era.

Nobody wants Lex Luthor or the Phantom Zones foes as enemies even if they're in it only for a few minutes.

Nobody wants a dark & dreary unrecognizable costume like the one above.

Nobody wants stunt casting like an old Lois from ages ago (sorry Teri) or psychos (sorry Kevin).

Nobody want anymore crap from Smallville or his ugly boring hick foster parents that have never added anything to him post-Crisis. Damn John Byrne for killing off Supergirl, Krypto, Superboy, etc. & bringing back these 2 losers.

Nobody wants to see Superman unable to save someone in a freaking tornado or another dumb set-up like killing someone for shock value.

Nobody wants time wasted on something we've seen dozens of times on screen like as "cool shot" of bullets bouncing off his body/eyeballs.

Nobody wants a mystery kid of his that throws pianos around or folks we don't recognize from the 10,000 comic books he's now appeared in.

Nobody wants to see a black Jimmy Olsen but an Elastic Lad where he doesn't need superman's help (another tired trope) would be something fresh & exciting (the same goes for Lang "Insect Queen" Lang).

Nobody wants to see him take on another non powered being like Batman, Lex Luthor or any of the other film losers we've had shoved into our faces.

by Anonymousreply 54May 6, 2024 9:56 PM

The Syfy show got it right having Brainiac be the villain.

Plus that Superman was super sexy.

r56 British hottie Cameron Cuffe! Although he played Seg-El, Superman's grandfather, roughly 200 years before his birth. We had lots of fun with that show on DL when it aired, shame he's kinda disappeared since.
