Paul Carafotes- 80s actor, writer and Vintage Beefcake

Paul Carafotes was born on March 23, 1959 in Somerville, Massachusetts to Greek parents. After he graduated from High School he decided he wanted to get into acting, and landed his first role in the film “Headin’ For Broadway” in 1980, at 20 years old. After that he starred in the film “Choices” with Demi Moore, which was her debut role. He landed a few films, such as “All The Right Moves”, “Blind Date” and “Journey to the Center of the Earth” as well as many guest spots on tv shows before landing what would be the role he is best known for, playing Harold Dyer on Knots Landing.

He played Harold on Knots Landing for 40 episodes. After that he did mostly tv movies and guest spots on tv shows as well as plays. He wrote plays as well as starred in a few and directed a few also.

From Wikipedia:

“Carafotes won an L.A. Drama Critics Award for writing the play "Beyond the Ring", in which he also starred and was nominated for best actor. He has won multiple awards including the audience award at the Beverly Hills Film Festival for writing, producing and directing the supernatural fantasy short film, "Club Soda". In 2006 Carafotes wrote, directed and produced the short film, Club Soda, edited into Stories USA. In 2010, Carafotes returned to acting in the Emmy award-winning series Damages.“

I remember seeing him on Knots and finding him odd looking but sexy at the same time. I guess I was not that into the Greek look while also finding it kinda hot. Anyone else remember him?

Reminds me of Jake Gyllenhaal.

Meanwhile looks nothing like Jake Gyllenhaal.

Very hot and looking like the second to die in a 80s horror movie.

He’s aged nicely. He’s like 65 now. Looks good.

Looks nothing like Jake G though. See an eye doctor.

John Stamos and JG had an ass baby. An ugly one.

He was a nebbishy criminal on Knots.

They didn’t use his hotness very well.

by Anonymousreply 16April 21, 2024 12:59 AM

They used his Greek features well though, r16. Not shocked they cast someone like him to be a criminal.

by Anonymousreply 17April 21, 2024 1:02 AM

I loved him on KL.
