I had a lisp as a child and had to undergo speech therapy in second grade, which cured me of it. I am always surprised when I come across adults who still have marked impediments, like Susan "Cindy Brady" Olsen or George R R Martin (who both still speak with a lisp). is it like learning a new language--it's easy to do when you're young but extremely hard to do as an adult?
Is it too hard to get a speech impediment corrected as an adult?
