R31 Netflix released a documentary series a few years ago on the Waco seige. It was actually fairly sympathetic to the Branch Davidians. But it was a really frustrating project because it was almost totally uninterested in anything that happened before the seige.

Exactly R38. He went into town EVERY DAY. They could have busted him there. Gone into the compound with minimal force. Served warrants to look for illegal weapons. Then escorted in CPS and sorted out the children's issues. Everybody just wanted to be a hero that day. More funding you know.

The Bundy family deserves more sympathy than Koresh. He was a con artist who specialized in the Seventh Day Adventists. He memorized the Bible and played hair rock. He was a redneck dirtbag who got everyone killed.

I was never fully clear on what the charges were against him. Was it child abuse?

He was cleared of child abuse by the state investigators. It was about the guns.

They had a few small businesses: a landscaping crew, an auto body and repair shop, and they sold stuff at gun shows. Supposedly they sold vests with crap on them, like fake grenades, and a UPS guy supposedly saw some of the grenades in a box that had broken open. There are stories that Koresh was buying rifles as an investment. They didn’t use any of these supposed automatic rifles on the ATF.

I went out there once to the compound. I think it is called “The Branch” bow and people still live out there. It was creepy as fuck out there

My parents raised us as Mennonites and it didn't seem too different from this cult. We couldn't listen to music, have friends that weren't part of the church and the world except us in the church were evil.
