“Waiting For A Star To Fall” (1988) by Boy Meets Girl is an underrated GEM of a song

It's technically good, but overproduced to the point that it loses a bit of soul.

It’s not meant to have soul. It’s bubblegum pop.

Just about the perfect pop song.

Love this song. LOVE IT.

It’s upbeat and catchy. It gets a lot of airplay at CVS and other stores that play background music.

For some reason, I always confuse "Waiting for a Star to Fall" with Boy Krazy's "That's What Love Can Do." Both are very good bops, from the same general era.

George and Shannon wrote Whitney's "How Will I Know" (which was originally written for Janet) and "I Wanna Dance With Somebody.'

The Belinda Carlisle demo of it is hilarious. To be fair to her I’m sure she must have sung it under duress and purposely sang it badly so the record company wouldn’t put it on an album or something.

R10 and R12 Wow. I like Belinda Carlisle and The Go-Gos, but that demo is terrible. Belinda's voice is surprisingly weak and she apparently doesn't have the vocal range to hit those high notes. Are you sure it was Belinda who passed on it, rather than the song incarnating itself to protest being recorded by her? I've heard better early-season American Idol auditions.

I hated it back in the day. But somebody made an 80's compilation and played this song to it and I liked it

Belinda Carlisle’s voice is always thin and tinny. It was okay for some of the Gogo’s stuff like Vacation and Our Lips Are Sealed.

Her voice worked for songs written specifically for her.
