Streisand to release her first new single "Love Will Survive" on April 25
Barbra Streisand, who turns 82 on April 24, will release her first single in 6 years the day after her birthday. Streisand announced this week she has recorded "Love Will Survive" for the last scene / end credits of the Peacock /Sky series ‘The Tattooist of Auschwitz’, a six part series which premieres May 2. Streisand said she wants the last scene 'to be memorable'.
“Because of the rise in antisemitism around the world today, I wanted to sing ‘Love Will Survive’ in the context of this series, as a way of remembering the six-million souls who were lost less than 80 years ago. And also to say that even in the darkest of times, the power of love can triumph and endure,” Streisand said in a statement.
The song “Love Will Survive” is produced by Walter Afanasieff and Peter Asher, with Streisand, Jay Landers and Russell Emanuel executive producing.

If she wanted this to go to number one, she should have duetted with Taylor Swift on this one.

The last scene shows Yentl getting off the boat at Ellis Island. She starts humming, then breaks out into "Love Will Survive".

Streisand has also been in the recording studio (it's been reported) working on her new album. Apparently, Bob Dylan and Paul McCartney are collaborating on this with her (not sure if this means 'duets').

It sounds very auto-tuned and quite possibly like her voice has been layered with younger, more talented singers. Just a hunch, because I have heard of this thing happening a lot in the industry.

That's not how she sounds live. Lots of tech manipulation there. And another of her shit pop songs. Did the Bergmans come back from the dead? Or is only one of them dead and they communicate by seance?

Her voice has been lifted a few notes and the huskyness has been cleaned up. She hasn't sounded like this in a few years and it isn't exactly how she used to sound.
Later in her career she got into very wordy songs with little musicality. They are fucking boring. A song is about music, not about a monologue.

R28 Sure, she had a little help with some reverb and maybe a little help from autotune (not as much on the 2018 album Walls), but she really doesn’t sound hoarse if she rests her voice. Her head voice doesn’t have any huskiness even live.
I was there for the 2006, 2012, 2016, and 2018 concerts.

R29, I saw her three times at Madison Square Garden in the 90s and at her last concert series in Brooklyn a few years ago. It was night and day, unfortunately. People were leaving en masse even before the last song at the Brooklyn concert, between the quality of her voice and her disposition, people had had enough, especially after paying so much to see her. People were too polite to boo, but it was called for.

She’s not auto tuned- sheesh. Here voice is definitely deeper. Rasps can be dealt with by vocalizing which I’m sure she has been doing, because while she says she dislikes it, she has also said she has to if she wants to keep singing.
Barbara Cook’s voice remained quite good although it to deepened with age- well into her 70s.
As Leontyne Price would say, not too shabby. What’s going by on the Israel and the Middle East is heart breaking and this is Streisand’s attempt to address it. Her philanthropy has been directed at Israeli institutions.

R39, she did three nights in 1994, which I attended. I also saw her at MSG in, I believe, 2006, which I forgot about. R40, I saw with my own eyes people walking out at the Barclays' Center in 2016. It was the night the Clintons where there. I felt bad it happened but I don't blame people for leaving. I wish she had sounded better and had been more gracious because I wanted the two family members I brought, and I had spent $600 on tickets, to enjoy her show as much as I had in the past.

A friend who is a huge Babs fanatic but never had the money to see her was taken to one of her last concerts in Brooklyn by her boyfriend. He paid $300 a ticket so they were pretty high up. R58 The gown was coral!
Miss Streisand dislikes the color orange because it is ”too in-your-face." She elaborated on this topic in her design book, her bio and interviews with Gayle King and Oprah W.,who immediately made fun of Miss Streisand. A moment immortalized by Kathy Griffin in a stand-up special ,which in turn is best remembered for talking about Miss Streisand having Oprahs black mic spraypainted off-white to match her Donna Karan sweater.
Therefore no orange flowers in Miss Streisands garden, and the apalling colored fruit, which she can´t eat anyay because she has reflux(but Jim likes them, get buried underneath peaches and apples.
bonus fun fact: Not too long after the Oprah interview Babs gave a luncheon for Sydney Poitier at her home. Guess what color Oprah was wearing in stark contrast to the burgundy to dusty rose colorsheme of the dining room?
I know all this fom the advanced eldergay diva worship knowledge class, as par of the dl scholarship.

Streisand's voice was exceptionally beautiful up to the mid-90s, when she started to lose power and began having difficulties negotiating her way through the upper passaggio. By 1999 a tremolo had appeared and her tone started to sound raspy and opaque, which has only become increasingly evident as time has progressed, because she refuses to acknowledge the physical changes that affect the way in which her vocal tract operates, by adapting her technique.
Nowadays her voice is a mess and while she always had a preference for insipid, lackluster ballads, since her diminished vocal capabilities became apparent she's become increasingly dull and mannered in her delivery, which makes her albums unlistenable by anyone who doesn't want to fall into a coma. This song is a testament to the style on which she has relied more and more since the late-90s: painfully slow, lushly orchestrated, soporifically dull and gradually building to a crescendo that she cannot deliver. Honestly, she ought to have retired at least 5 years ago. She has more money than God and at this point, she's only embarrassing herself.

This getting tedious correcting some of the stupid things being said here. There were two concert tours, one was in 2012 and called Back to Brooklyn, maybe that was recorded in Brooklyn, I don't know and I don't care. The other concert tour was called Barbra the magic memories, blah blah, and was in 2016. That is the one I made clear from my first post about it that I saw people walking out en masse Brooklyn. That tour was recorded in Miami. Thanks, R55, that was exactly my and my siblings' sad experience also.

And with Barbra Streisand - who used to BRAG about not warming up, not seeking coaching/instruction, not taking care of it - sucks at her current age without electronic help, what's the fucking big deal? Damn if it isn't #28 currently on the iTunes sales chart. For an old like Babs this is impressive.
I listed to a bit of it - she definitely does not have the power she had nor the range but it still sounded like Barbra....I mean she was EIGHTY ONE FUCKING YEARS OLD when this was recorded and she sounds damn good for that age.
Having said that, it's generic treacle and it didn't do much for me. But, I mean, most movie songs are.
