I watched the proceedings. It was ugly. Mostly because the Repugs kept throwing up motion after motion to delay, and the votes were exactly the same every time. They knew they couldn't win a vote, but they just kept moving for delays over and over and over... They left the room without a shred of dignity remaining, trying to convince themselves that they had somehow achieved something...

My guess is the Republicans wanted the delay of two weeks so they could scream faux outrage day in and day out so that the Dems would feel forced to have the Trial, which would happen right when Turd’s trial gets underway with the most salacious parts.

According to Lawrence, Schumer and McConnell had a deal that was to be passed by unanimous consent, but some idiot freshman Senator objected which gave the Democrats the ability to kill the trial.
