Some Fun Facts About Fish Crows

Their sound is completely different from American Crows.

American Crows are ALL over North American whereas Fish Crows are only to be found on the East Coast- not inland only the immediate coast of the United States from about Connecticut to Florida. I see and hear them when I shop at the Costco in Port Chester New York.

I’ve heard them on the Mississippi River; they’re around Texas lakes. My Merlin so has confirmed.

I saw some ravens on the ground and they are huge. Like eagles.

R4- I wish we had Ravens in the Northeast but at least we have those fabulous Fish Crows.

I have a standard crow that comes to my yard multiple times a day to eat and take things back to his wife, who must be nesting. I toss out crackers, nuts, pasta most days, but sometimes I toss out a taco, a slice of Italian cream cake or an eggo waffle-- stuff like that just to see him fly away with the whole thing in his beak.

If I were an unassuming passerby I know I would marvel at the sight of a crow carrying an entire corndog through the sky, so I try to make it happen for someone.

Ravens have returned to Ohio.
