In high school, one of my more delusional friends thought she was going to be a model. Lo and behold, there appeared an ad in the local paper that an international modelling agency was holding auditions for future high-fashion models. At the Howard Johnson Business Center. She was sure this was her big break, and had to go. In retrospect, delusional and dim. I was positive it was going to be some sort of porn thing, so I went along just in case. Hundreds of delusional small-town girls in line. We stood there forever, until it was her turn. I went in with her. They fawned all over her, and for only $250 they could do a portfolio for her. She just had to come back the next day with a check, and they would send her her portfolio and a contract! She fell right for it, so we were back the next day with the three changes of clothes they asked her to have. When we got there, they started buttering me up. You know they need male models, too. I'd be perfect! How about a few pictures of us together, and then maybe some of just me. Trust me, I am average looking at best. And just a hair under 5'9'. But whatever. They would just add a few pics of me to her portfolio. The photographer offered me a leather jacket and sunglasses conveniently near by for my solo shots.

At least three months later, the portfolio came in the mail along with my pictures tucked into it loose. We did not get any contracts though.

Point of my story?

That jacket in the left picture looks suspiciously like the one I was lent for MY big modelling shoot.

R9 Those 'modeling agencies' used to pop up at every mall in my area in the 80s and 90s. They'd pull over every guy and girl between the ages of 18 - 25 walking by, and tell them they could be the next supermodel. What a joke.
