I could see that; come to think of it, she came off as pretty butch, calling her that is not meant as an insult to anyone, btw. She once stressed on a talk show (might've been Conan O'Brien) that she "had to get a big American White guy" just like her mother did, in regards to her own father; she hid it behind laughter, but the emphasis did seem like it was more of what her mother instilled in her. She probably felt it was necessary to hide her lesbianism from her parents, out of fear of disappointing them, while also hiding it from the media, in regards to her then burgeoning career at the time.

I listened to the interview and he did not say she was gay- he said she bearded for him.

And she’s been married since 1989 to a man.

I live in the UWS (since 1985) and have never heard that. Marlow Thomas and Leslie Stahl, yes!

Ann was hated by her neighbors for a UWS townhouse renovation. She’s since moved to New Canaan, Connecticut. I remember her saying that she could never enjoy her townhouse after all the trauma and public humiliation her planned renovation caused among her neighbors.

I think Marlo Thomas lives on the Upper East Side for what it’s worth. Maybe she lived on the UWS and was hated there too?

R13, that’s a common problem when someone renovates a townhouse in Manhattan because of proximity. It does not mean Ann was a jerk.

I’m having some problems with neighbors in renovating a small townhouse in Palm Springs. Proximity and sloppy workers. I’ve had to hire cleaners to mop up after the work- I don’t think I’m a jerk- nice in fact and the landscaping in doing is benefiting neighbors with shared space. It’s a difficult situation.

Sounds like the way they handled the renovations was jerky. They didn’t tried to mollify the neighbors one bit.

Ann Curry got run over by a truck and thrown under the bus at the Today show. She got the co-hosting gig from the news reader to a seat next to Matt Lauer. When the ratings tanked Matt put all the blame on Ann and not the fact he was smug asshole who, for example softballed Trump but out of the gate attacked Clinton in her emails and how could America trust her. I remember when Ann was on the couch saying she was leaving the today show and about moving the ball to the goal line ( a line Lauer supposedly used about ann in a meeting her not being able to move the ball) and Matt just sat there and said "well you will be missed." Later in another couch segment someone made a comment about how co-workers were treated and Al goes "here we just thrown them under a bus." Not long after Matt would be fired for being a letch.

I once saw Ann corralled for ages by two old ladies in the downstairs vegetable section of the Union Square Whole Foods. The ladies would not let her go and you could see poor Ann was looking for any out. But she was friendly and nice the entire time. I felt bad for her.

I thought she was a horrible interviewer. Any time I saw her with a major political figure, she lobbed softball after softball and let them run all over her. But put the winner of Top Chef or the lady who grew the world's biggest pumpkin in the chair and Ann would tear into them like she was auditioning for 60 Minutes.

There's a reason she barely worked after leaving Today.

She had a good heart. Journalistic chops are another matter, though, at her insistence, she covered a lot of stories about crises in poor and war-torn countries that otherwise would have been undercovered, flying in economy for really long flights to weather awful conditions on the ground.

Big credit to her for that.
