R14, it's contagious. I noticed Gosling, I mean Goaling has a hard time holding it together and it seems to be spreading among the cast. You know it's bad when Kenan is the only one who keeps it together.

Did Longfellow have any lines in the AI skit? If not he's been pretty much reduced to audience extra status.

The Erin Brockovich sketch is making fun of the stupid script, fixating on one particularly hackneyed passage. And it's kind of brilliant.

This has been a strong show on the writing side, actually, ruined by all the amateurish breaking.

Liked seeing Ryan's big ass in those white Levi's when he turned around and bowed down in the goodnights.

Longfellow is toast. He is gone after this season. He is just bland.

Where are the Please Don't Destroy guys? They've been absent for the past two shows. Did they move them to the writing staff because the sketches have been much more creative these past two weeks.

The PDD guys suck, their movie bombed, and the SNL-alumni daddies of 2/3 probably said it was OK to phase them out of the show.

Longfellow has been scoring in his solo spots.

He fills the "cute guy" role the show needs.

Like Jimmy Fallon, who did nothing but Update (poorly) and crack up in sketches, ruining them.

R35, Fallon did impressions, Longfellow does nothing but smirk at the camera.

They rarely feature most of the players so why don't they just streamline the cast and bring it back to the main five Ike they did with the original cast. Too bloated and most are glorified extras at this point.

R37 to have different people in different sketches. What worked in 1975 isn’t gonna work in 2024.

R38, when you hire talented players you don't need a bloated cast.

R39 again, it’s 2024. No one is watching the same exact people in every skit week after week.

R32 = I only made one comment about Longfellow. How is that an obsession? It's not my fault he can't land a joke, a sketch, or ANY impression.

R40, look at this season then get back to me. We ARE looking at the same people in every skit week after week. The also-rans get thrown a line every now and then but they rarely appear.

If you cannot get through a live sketch without breaking character and laughing then you are not a very good actor. Especially if you haven’t learned how to do it by your 40’s

I like that they sometimes break character and laugh. It adds to the “live” factor.

Why are they looking at the camera or not even at the camera but the cue cards, I assume, when they are talking? Instead of looking at each other when they are acting like they are having a conversation. I don't remember cast from the past doing that. How hard it is to learn a few lines per week? Plus, I'm sure they can improvise. A child could do it without staring at the cue cards 90% of the time. It is very distracting

Agreed R 54. It seems amateurish which is why I stopped watching the show a long time ago.

I was surprised, and distracted, by how often Kristen Wiig looked at the script prompter during her ‘Jumanji’ sketch last week. She should be a pro by now with this type of sketch comedy.

Janeane Garofalo has said the men on the show mocked her for learning her lines rather than using cue cards. I guess it made them look bad.

He broke character in every sketch he was in. The giggling was distracting and ruined the flow of the sketch. Not to mention it was unprofessional and disrespectful to the other actors and the writers. They hit it out of the park two weeks in a row. The material was good. The cast was solid. The host, not so much. I realize a couple of the cast members laughed as well but I think it was an effort to help him save face. Maybe save the edibles for AFTER the show.

I read a theory that Longfellow is being groomed to be the next Weekend Update anchor. Can’t imagine Jost and Che have more than one more season

How long have Che and Jost been the news anchors? It seems like a long time?

I looked it up. They began anchoring the news update segment in 2014 and are the longest running performers in that role, surpassing Seth Myers. They eclipsed Myers’ back in 2021.

That News segment is one of the least funny things on tv. Why do keep pushing it? Who is a fan of that? And it wasn't any funnier when that no charisma having Seth Myers was hosting it.
